New York professor who attacked pro-life students fired after holding machete to reporter's throat and threatening to 'chop' him up

The leftist New York art professor who attacked peaceful pro-life students at Hunter College earlier this month has been fired after threatening to butcher reporters with a machete.

What's the background?

TheBlaze previously reported that Shellyne Rodriguez, up until today an assistant art professor at the City University of New York's Hunter College, freaked out on pro-life students who — with the school's permission — peacefully staged an information display, detailing the humanity of the unborn and inhumanity of chemical abortion pills.

In footage documenting the May 2 incident, Rodriguez can be heard telling the students, "You're not educating s***. This is f***ing propaganda."

The pro-abortion extremist claimed the display was "violent" and "triggering" her students.

After berating the male and female students, Rodriguez tossed a metal case into the female student, slammed pro-life literature toward both students, then lumbered away, leaving the pro-life activists to calmly clean up her mess.

The student group CUNY for Abortion and other extremists on campus later endorsed Rodriguez's behavior, stating, "We refuse to allow CUNY to welcome Students for Life and other far-right groups onto our campuses. We will not be persuaded by an ambiguous liberal vision of allowing 'all ideas to gain a hearing."

CUNY for Abortion added that "in solidarity with Shellyne, we commit to disrupting, dismantling, and uprooting any of these far-right groups when they attempt to plant seeds of harm at CUNY."

A spokesman for Hunter College told Fox News Digital that the school is aware of the encounter and is "taking this matter very seriously," adding, "The provost has opened an investigation into the professor’s actions."

Maniac with a machete

The New York Post's Reuven Fenton and a photographer sought out Rodriguez for comment on Tuesday, but they too discovered Rodriguez's answer to peaceful discourse was rage.

Fenton knocked on the 45-year-old leftist's door and identified himself as a reporter.

Rodriguez reportedly answered, yelled, "Get the f*** away from my door or I’m gonna chop you up with this machete," then slammed the door.

According to the Post, after threatening to butcher the reporter, Rodriguez reappeared and held the blade of a machete to Fenton's neck, which can be seen in video of the incident.

Rodriguez elected not to follow through on her threats and slammed the door on the Post employees, already on their way out of the building. The altercation was, however, far from over.

The former Hunter College professor reportedly pursued Fenton and his photographer outside, still brandishing her machete.

Dashcam footage appears to show the leftist professor chasing the photographer, waving the blade about menacingly. The photographer managed to evade the middle-aged woman.

The Post claimed that Rodriguez did, however, assault Fenton as he tried to get into his car, kicking him in the shins.

"If I see you on this block one more f**king time, you’re gonna …!" yelled Rodriguez. "Get the f**k off the block! Get the f**k out of here, yo!"

The Post told the BBC it was "glad the reporter is safe."

Consequence at last

Vince Dimiceli, a spokesman for Hunter College, informed the Post that "Hunter College strongly condemns the unacceptable actions of Shellyne Rodriguez and has taken immediate action."

Dimiceli added, "Rodriguez has been relieved of her duties at Hunter College effective immediately and will not be returning to teach at the school."

Following her termination, the previous targets of her wrath, Students for Life of America, started a petition to demand that Hunter College "ensures no student experiences violent, viewpoint discrimination again."

Elad Eliahu, a New York City-based reporter, noted that Rodriguez was an exponent of the "f*** the police" movement from 2019 to 2020.

Former comedians slammed for advancing Beijing's preferred virus narrative on late-night shows

Like their peers on "The View" and other obedient script-readers in the news media, corporate late-night hosts are now being confronted over their part in propagating Beijing's preferred and increasingly unlikely narrative regarding the origins of the COVID-19 virus — or at the very least downplaying the possibility of a lab leak.

Last week, "The View" cohost Whoopi Goldberg blamed former President Donald Trump for her long-standing refusal to recognize there was a good possibility that COVID-19 originated in the Chinese lab known for running dangerous gain-of-function experiments on coronaviruses.

Fox News Digital has since emphasized that this partisan blindness did not only affect liberal media personalities like Goldberg during the daytime.

Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Samantha Bee are among the former comedians now facing backlash over downplaying or outright rejecting the lab-leak theory.

Colbert

Jon Stewart went on CBS' "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in June 2021 and leveled his former subordinate with the suggestion that human meddling or error was responsible for the pandemic.

"I think we owe a great debt of gratitude to science. Science has, in many ways, helped ease the suffering of this pandemic, which was more than likely caused by science," said Stewart.

Colbert responded, "Do you mean perhaps there’s a chance that this was created in a lab?"

"A chance? There’s a novel respiratory coronavirus overtaking Wuhan, China, what do we do? Oh, you know, who we could ask? The Wuhan novel respiratory coronavirus lab. The disease is the same name as the lab! That’s just a little too weird!" Stewart replied.

The comedian stressed the point, saying, "‘Oh, my God, there’s been an outbreak of chocolaty goodness near Hershey, Pennsylvania. What do you think happened?' ... Like, 'Oh I don’t know, maybe a steam shovel mated with a cocoa bean?' Or it’s the f***ing chocolate factory!"

Visibly unnerved by Stewart's belief and the audience's reaction, Colbert countered, "It could be possible; you could be right. It could be possible that they have the lab in Wuhan to study the novel coronavirus diseases because in Wuhan, there are a lot of novel coronavirus diseases because of the bat population there," which prompted Stewart to quip, "I understand; it’s a local specialty and it’s the only place to find bats. You won’t find bats anywhere else."

National Review noted that, contrary to Colbert's suggestion, the bats studied in the Wuhan Institute of Virology did not come from Wuhan but rather caves outside the city of Nanning in southern Asia, some 1,000 miles away from the epicenter of the outbreak.

Jon Stewart On Vaccine Science And The Wuhan Lab Theory youtu.be

Colbert appears resolved to reject the possibility that a CCP-controlled lab with a checkered safety record was the source of a virus that slaughtered tens of millions of people worldwide.

On Feb. 27, he mocked the Department of Energy's conclusion that the virus likely originated in the Wuhan lab.

"Now, if like me you’re wondering why the Department of Energy is the one making this judgment, it’s because that agency oversees a network of national laboratories, some of which conduct advanced biological research," said the former comedian.

"No, no! Bad Energy Department, no bio-labs until you finish building your electric car-charging stations. Stay in your lane — you don’t see the Census Bureau building nukes," continued Colbert. "But whatever, who am I to say? They’re the Energy Department; I’m sure they’re smart. They wouldn’t release these findings unless they were absolutely confident."

Addressing the apparent ignorance of certain late-night script readers, National Review noted that the DOE weighed in because it "has a special division that, as part of its mission to track and mitigate the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, specializes in the study of biological weapons such as viruses."

"What’s that? They made their judgment with ‘low confidence,'” said Colbert, adding, "Anyway, we’ll have more on this story as soon as anyone has anything they can prove."

On March 1, Colbert doubled down, complaining to his fully vaccinated audience that the FBI won't share proof of the lab leak.

"If you can't share it, maybe tell someone at that Chinese lab, and if they leak it, you'll know you were right," said Colbert.

After intimating that an absence of proof was the proof of absence, Colbert then unironically invoked the wisdom of Dr. Fauci, recently reported to have discounted possible evidence of the virus' human engineering and concealed his efforts to push the counternarrative.

Kimmel

After the DOE confirmed that the Wuhan lab may be the origin of the virus, former comedian Jimmy Kimmel claimed during his monologue on ABC that the lack of an overwhelming consensus means "we didn't know then. We still don't know now. But what we did know is that Trump and his buddies blaming the Chinese resulted in a great deal of anti-Asian-American sentiment and even violence in this country. And that's why it was irresponsible for the president to call it the 'China Virus.'"

In 2020, Kimmel said then-President Donald Trump was "pushing U.S. intelligence to find evidence for this theory that the virus was accidentally released from a lab in Wuhan. That's his new angle to feed the wingnuts, to treat this virus like it was a conspiracy of some kind. ... Tomorrow, he'll blame the Spanish flu on Antonio Banderas."

Trump intimated in spring 2020 that he had seen evidence that gave him a high degree of confidence that the virus originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, adding, "Certainly it could have been stopped."

A day after suggesting Trump used the term "Chinese virus" to deflect blame from himself, on March 19, 2020, Kimmel said, "[Trump's] really going all in with this 'Chinese virus' nonsense. ... Just shut up already and let the doctors take over."

Kimmel's recent attempts at damage control are in response to a takedown on Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight," where Carlson said, "Imagine if you're a comedian and all of a sudden your cue card has all kinds of talking points from politicians and foreign governments on it. Don't read it. You degrade yourself and you become complicit in the greatest crime in history."

Bee

Fox News Digital noted that years prior to her cancellation for averaging less than half the number of viewers other late-show hosts netted, Samantha Bee denounced conservative outlets for suggesting that China may have had something to do with the virus.

After playing a montage of Fox News pundits criticizing the CCP, she said, "China, we know it's not your bad. ... Tying coronavirus to China and Chinese people isn’t just a racist dog whistle, it’s a whole racist orchestra… the coronavirus is not an excuse to be racist."

Cui bono

TheBlaze previously reported that Department of Health and Human Services records obtained via Freedom of Information Act requests revealed that media personalities such as Colbert and the hosts of "The View" were among those tapped to spread propaganda promoting COVID-19 vaccines on behalf of the Biden administration.

It is presently unclear whether there was a similar statist push behind these former comedians' efforts to downplay the lab-leak theory or whether this seemingly coordinated effort, while ostensibly politically motivated, was in fact spontaneous.

Arthur Bloom noted in the American Conservative at the outset of the pandemic around the time the liberal media began shielding China from criticism that "many media companies either do business with China or are paid by the government in some way."

"The companies that own the major news networks, NBC, ABC, and CBS, all do significant business in China. On the print side, top U.S. newspapers like the Washington Post and New York Times have been criticized for running paid China Daily inserts. What they were paid for these inserts is still unknown," continued Bloom.

Bloomed added, "By contrast, conservative news companies are much less involved in China. Conservative radio giant Salem, whose attempt to buy Tribune several years ago provoked an enormous freakout from media reporters over consolidation, is all-American. And Fox, after several troubled attempts to break into the Chinese market—including sending a News Corp team to help build People’s Daily a website—has mostly given up, after selling its Asia-Pacific operations to Disney over the last two years."

Rogan tells Russell Brand he'd vote for Trump over Biden, saying the president is mentally 'gone' and reliant on his 'sideshow of diversity' cabinet

Joe Rogan and British comedian Russell Brand discussed the deterioration of public faith in American political institutions and the technocrats who run them on the March 2 episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience." Both Rogan, a self-described "bleeding heart liberal," and Brand, a political chameleon with a socially liberal, populist bent, appeared convinced that the Biden administration has been instrumental in accelerating this trend and for cynical reasons.

"It's a very strange time where I don't think people have a lot of faith right now in institutions and I don't think they have a lot of faith in authority. I don't think they really believe that there is someone who is wiser than them; that has a grand plan that's logical, that's workable, where they're looking out for all of us," said Rogan. "There is a feeling of chaos that exists today that I don't think has ever existed in my life."

Rogan contrasted the current administration to the White House during President George W. Bush's tenure, noting that despite claims of oafishness, critics and admirers alike were still under the impression that Bush and the executive branch were competent — perhaps constituting so "solid an institution" as to inspire conspiracy theories.

"Nobody believes that now. You see Pete Buttigieg and f***ing Kamala Harris, and Biden can't get a sentence out. ... This is madness. These people are utter fools. And these are the people that are running everything and these are the people that are getting us on the brink of war with Russia," added Rogan. "I don't have any faith in them and I think most people don't."

A 2022 Pew Research Center report on trends in public trust in government corroborates Rogan's claim, revealing that since the early 2000s, there has been a precipitous drop in the percentage of people who say they trust the government to do what is right just about always or most of the time.

As for confidence in the commander in chief, 53% of American registered voters disapprove of the job Joe Biden is doing as president, according to the most recent Morning Consult poll,

"And I go, 'I would vote for Trump before I'd vote for Biden.' Just because the thing with Biden, he's gone. Like, you know, he's gone," said Rogan. "You’re going to be relying on his cabinet, and I knew his cabinet would be this f***ing sideshow of diversity, which is exactly what it is."

In February, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre boasted that Biden takes pride in "diversity."

Jean-Pierre said, "The cabinet is majority people of color for the first time in history. The cabinet is majority female for the first time in history. A majority of White House senior staff identify as female. ... Forty percent of White House senior staff identify as part of the racially diverse communities, and a record seven assistants to the president are openly LGBTQ+"

Rogan underscored that on the brink of possible war and amid a dearth of trust in the government, the Biden administration's prioritization of immutable characteristics and sexual deviancies over merit and competency are proving ruinous.

The podcaster flagged former Biden nuclear official Samuel Brinton as a symbol of the Democratic regime's pursuit of woke bona fides at the expense of quality.

According to Rogan, Brinton — the so-called non-binary "Physics of Kink" instructor recently referred to the FBI for allegedly stealing women's luggage and wearing their clothes — is a "diversity hire."

Rogan imagined aloud what Biden's handlers were thinking when first deciding to tap Brinton for an important role in the administration: "‘Oh, look at this, a man who dresses like a woman and has a beard and a mustache, but also wears lipstick, this is perfect for us. I don’t give a f*** what this guy’s good at or bad at, I don’t give a f*** what their credentials are, this makes us look like we’re inclusive. This makes us look like we’re on the right side. So let’s hire this person.'"

The comedians suggested that for Biden — whose own cognitive faculties and ability to stay alert have been much debated — to now have to rely on such so-called "diversity hire[s]" puts the U.S. and the world in danger.

"You can’t have those kind of people running a Ben & Jerry’s. You certainly can’t have those kind of people running the f***ing most powerful government the world’s ever known. It’s nonsense," added the podcaster.

Brand suggested that what Rogan reckons to be Democrats' ideology-excused incompetence was never sincere to begin with.

"I don't think they believe in that stuff. I don't think they care. I don't think that they are creating an agenda to advance the interests of vulnerable people. I think that they are using [identity politics] as a distraction and a veil in order to carry on with the same kind of corporate and financial interests that have always determined what the establishment is," said Brand.

Brand argued that Democrats utilize identity politics not only to distract from how the "liberal establishment" profitably colludes with big business and the military-industrial complex, but as a way to prevent oppositional coalitions forming among unlikely political allies.

"What they’ve been able to do is introduce contentious issues to the forefront of the culture that prevent the kinds of alliances that are necessary [from] taking place," he said, adding that Democrats "make ordinary Americans hate each other," having successfully branded half the country "far-right fascists."

Brand concluded that Biden is effectively the "perfect president for the time," serving as the false woke mask of the Democratic party and symbolic of a breakdown of trust and functionality.

"He’s like the perfect metaphor of what it is. This system is over. And for all of the talk of diversity, what have you got? You’ve got like a career politician, white male that’s falling apart before your very eyes. He is telling you that it’s bull**** and that they’ll put people in positions in order to carry that narrative, but for no other reason."

Tulsi Gabbard: Democrats and Biden have embraced 'the very same geneticist core principles embodied by Nazism and Adolf Hitler'

Tulsi Gabbard called out Democrats and the Biden administration Saturday for their continued embrace of identity politics, suggesting that they now share much in common with Adolph Hitler's Nazis.

During her appearance on Fox News' "Jesse Watters Primetime," the former Democrat and Iraq War veteran emphasized that "their agenda of identity politics is directly undermining the traditional democratic values that were expressed so beautifully and clearly by Dr. Martin Luther King; that we should judge each other not based on the color of our skin, but based on our character."

"They're proud to be judging people, hiring people, selecting people, based on race," said the former Hawaii congresswoman.

"Really when you cut to the core of it, when they're standing there saying, 'Hey, we are proud to be selecting people solely based on race,' that is alarming to me on so many levels," added Gabbard.

Axios recently noted that affirmative action is on the chopping block nationwide, at least as it pertains to higher education.

Challenges to the use of race in Harvard's and the University of North Carolina's admissions processes have prompted the Supreme Court to rule this summer on whether the practice is constitutionally permissible.

Whereas academia may soon be forced to prioritize individuals' character over their immutable characteristics, the Biden administration continues to celebrate its racial obsession.

Last week, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre highlighted how President Joe Biden's cabinet "is majority people of color for the first time in history. ... The Cabinet is majority female for the first time in history. A majority of White House senior staff identify as female. Forty percent of White House senior staff identify as part of the racially diverse communities, and a record seven assistants to the president are openly LGBTQ+."

— Citizen Free Press (@Citizen Free Press) 1677179295

Jean-Pierre also indicated that Biden "prides himself on" hiring minority candidates and that "diversity" would be a factor when considering who to appoint as new vice chair of the Federal Reserve, reported KLTX.

The New York Times noted that long before Biden nominated Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, he had committed to making a decision on the basis of race and sex, regardless of the field and the talented persons in it.

Biden's Executive Order 13583 foisting diversity, equity, and inclusion rationales upon the federal workforce sought a similar materialist ending, prioritizing bodies over souls.

Christopher Rufo, appointed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to the board of trustees of New College in Sarasota last month, recently suggested in City Journal that DEI programs "are a farce. In practice, they promote ideological conformity, racial and sexual discrimination, and the exclusion of any group that finds itself on the wrong side of the identity hierarchy."

Rufo noted that the endpoint of the kind of programs advocated on campus and elsewhere by Democrats and the Biden administration is "left-wing political activism."

Gabbard further suggested Saturday that Democrats' corresponding push to devalue human beings' individuality and to give racial divisions greater purchase "is based on genetics, race, based on your blood, your genes."

"Where do we see that connection? Well, these are the very same geneticist core principles embodied by Nazism and Adolph Hitler. And this should be something that is sickening and alarming to every single Democrat and every single American," said the former presidential candidate. "We have seen where this philosophy can lead."

Gabbard underscored that the American people need leaders who will "select people based on their character, how committed they are to the Constitution; and the capabilities that they bring to actually do the job that they are hired to do."

Gabbard: They’re ‘proud’ to be selecting people based on race youtu.be

Extra to sharing identitarianism in common with Germany's soundly defeated National Socialists, Democrats also keep the eugenicist organization founded by Hitler's ideological peer in business.

Planned Parenthood was founded by notorious eugenicist Margaret Sanger, who sought to sterilize so-called undesirables by force or other means. In Sanger's own words, "morons, mental defectives, epileptics," along with criminals, the poor, the illiterate, and the unemployed, were unfit to breed and should therefore be precluded from doing so.

In a 1923 New York Times article, Sanger wrote, "Birth Control is not contraception indiscriminately and thoughtlessly practiced. It means the release and cultivation of the better racial elements in our society, and the gradual suppression, elimination and eventual extirpation of defective stocks — those human weeds which threaten the blooming of the finest flowers of American civilization."

Concerning so-called birth control, Sanger clearly did not want all of the unborn exterminated, but only certain kinds.

Sanger, who started "The Negro Project" in 1939, wrote to a project director, suggesting that black ministers had to gain the trust of the communities the birth control initiative was supposed to victimize, saying, "We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population."

The Washington Examiner noted that as of 2020, 79% of Planned Parenthood slaughter houses were within walking distance of neighborhoods with proportionately higher populations of black or Latino women.

According to Open Secrets, Democrat congressional candidates received 99.59% of the organization's campaign contributions in 2022. But for one Senate recipient, Planned Parenthood's contributions to incumbents in Congress went entirely to Democrats. Democrats reciprocate by keeping the organization funded to the best of their ability.

Video: Fires erupt at 3 different oil facilities of the same company in Texas and Mexico in one day

Fires engulfed three separate oil facilities owned by the same company in one day. The oil facilities were owned by Pemex and located in Texas and Mexico.

Petroleos Mexicanos, best known as Pemex, had fires at three of their oil facilities on Thursday. The infernos left eight people injured and five others missing as of Thursday night. One person died in the fire, according to Bloomberg.

Five people were unaccounted for and three were hospitalized following a fire at a Pemex storage facility in Ixhuatlan del Sureste in the Mexican state of Veracruz, according to the state-owned Mexican petroleum company.

The fire was extinguished. However, the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.

Pemex also confirmed that there was also a fire at its Minatitlan refinery in Veracruz, Mexico. Five people were injured in that fire. The fire did not affect the refinery's operations and did not damage any equipment, according to the oil company.

Pemex said, "It is presumed that the possible cause of the fire was product runoff on a hot surface."

On the same day, a third fire broke out at the Pemex-run refinery in Deer Park, Texas. The fire was extinguished, and the incident was downgraded to an "all-clear" situation.

Video shows thick, black smoke billowing out of the oil facility fire, and could be seen from miles away.

There have been dangerous and deadly accidents at Pemex facilities in the past.

Reuters reported on Friday, "Earlier this week, at least two people died after a vehicle collision inside a Pemex refinery in the Mexican state of Hidalgo, according to local media reports."

Last November, 19 people were injured after a leaking pipeline carrying ethane gas exploded in Veracruz.

Last September, a gas pipeline in the Mexican state of Tabasco exploded, forcing the evacuation of all workers at the Paredón Hydrocarbon Separation Station.

In January 2022, the same government-owned pipeline in Tabasco leaked oil that sparked a fire in Huimanguillo.

In August 2021, five people were killed and six were injured when a fire broke out at the Pemex oil platform in the Bay of Campeche in the southern Gulf of Mexico.
