CNN Internal Survey Shows Viewers Lost Trust In Network Over ‘Sensational’ Covid Coverage

Viewers lost trust in CNN due to its left-wing bias and histrionic Covid reporting, according to a 2022 survey commissioned by the network.

CNN poll finds that 75% of 'Democrats/Democratic-leaning independents who are registered to vote' believe Dems should tap someone other than Biden as 2024 presidential nominee

A recent CNN poll found that a whopping three-quarters of "Democrats/Democratic-leaning independents who are registered to vote" believe that the Democratic Party should select someone other than President Joe Biden as the party's 2024 presidential nominee — only 25% felt that the party should tap Biden to be the 2024 nominee.

Those numbers mark a significant shift compared to a poll from earlier this year which found that 51% thought the Democratic Party should go with someone other than Biden in 2024, while 45% thought the party should nominate the president.

Former President Donald Trump is widely expected to mount another White House bid, but the recent CNN poll found that among Republican and GOP-leaning independents registered to vote, 55% believe the GOP should nominate someone else for the 2024 election, while 44% think Trump should be the 2024 nominee.

Biden said last year that he plans to seek re-election as long has he has "good health." But even if he does run, he could fail to clinch the nomination if public sentiment does not shift dramatically in his favor going forward.

While he is currently less than two years into his four-year term, Biden has been facing dismal job approval ratings in various polls for quite some time. Americans have been facing high gas prices and soaring inflation. Notably, Biden is the oldest president in American history, and if re-elected, would be 86 years old by the end of his second term.

A recent poll that supplied a list of potential 2024 Democratic presidential contenders found that among likely 2024 New Hampshire Democratic primary voters, President Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were essentially tied for first place. The Granite State Poll by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center found that 17% picked Buttigieg, while 16% chose Biden — the poll had a +/- 4.7% margin of sampling error for likely 2024 Democratic primary voters. While Buttigieg scored a +54% net favorability rating among likely New Hampshire Democratic primary voters, Biden only had +19% net favorability.

CNN declares crisis for Dems: Biden near 'point of no return' on the economy, faces 'looming political disaster' at midterms

CNN sounded the alarm for Democrats on Thursday in a surprisingly harsh analysis of the network's latest poll, which showed President Joe Biden and his party under water on a plethora of significant issues.

The left-wing network — which typically provides political cover for the Democratic Party — acknowledged that Biden is near "the point of no return with Americans on the economy" and dangerously close to an "irreversible severing of public confidence in his capacity to deliver prosperity and financial security."

The Democratic Party as a whole, CNN added, faces a "looming political disaster" ahead of the country's midterm elections in November thanks to historic inflation levels that "the White House initially underestimated and has failed to tame" and skyrocketing gasoline prices.

"A CNN poll released Wednesday shows that the President's repeated efforts to highlight undeniably strong aspects of the economy's post-pandemic rebound and to offset blame for its bad spots aren't working," the blistering analysis read.

It added: "The party seems stuck in a dangerous political position of insisting the economy is doing well while voters think it's in the tank."

Much of the country and news media, for that matter, had come to the realization about Biden and the Democratic Party's failures already. So, CNN isn't reporting anything new. Still, the report is notable because of the source.

It appears the results of the network's latest poll, conducted by SSRS from April 28 to May 1, were so bleak for Biden and the Democrats that no amount of spin could make things appear better.

The poll showed that a majority of American adults believe the president's policies have hurt the economy, and eight in 10 said the government isn't doing enough to combat inflation.

Only a dismal 23% rated economic conditions as even somewhat good, the lowest mark since November 2011. And by a four-to-one margin, Americans said they are more likely to hear something bad than good about the economy.

Economic pessimism even crossed party lines, as a near-universal 94% of Republicans rated current economic conditions in the U.S. as poor, joined by a whopping 81% of independents and 54% of Democrats.

Biden's overall approval rating on the economy has cratered to just 34%, with 66% disapproving.

Yet in the face of all the bad news, the White House continued to push misleading messages. While speaking on CNN's "New Day," White House economic adviser Jared Bernstein suggested that Americans need to be more "nuanced" when assessing the economic situation.

"So I think you have to be more nuanced when you're trying to assess the economy ... we're doing all we can to try to help ease these inflationary pressures," Bernstein said as he touted Biden's efforts to end supply chain blockages, tackle port congestion, lower energy prices, and open up the country's strategic oil reserves.

It remains to be seen how much nuance plays into Americans' decisions at the polls in November.

CNN's latest poll has truly awful numbers for Biden

Astounding new poll numbers for President Joe Biden show just how badly Americans think he's performing as president, with nearly six in 10 survey respondents saying there's absolutely nothing he's done that they approve of.

Only 41% of Americans think Biden is doing a good job, according to a CNN poll released Thursday. Most, a whopping 58%, say they disapprove of how he is handling the job.

The U.S. adults who are in Biden's corner are almost all Democrats. The president still holds an 83% approval rating among members of his own party, although that dropped from 94% last summer. Just 36% of self-identified independents said they approve of Biden's performance, and only 9% of Republicans approved. More Americans strongly disapprove of how Biden is leading the nation, 41%, than strongly approve, 15%.

According to CNN, Biden's numbers have worsened as the network's polling has become more evenly representative of the two major parties, rather than tilting toward Democrats as it has in the past.

Perhaps the most stunning number from the poll was that 56% of survey respondents who disapproved of Biden's overall performance could not name a single thing he's done that they approve of. Rather than say anything nice about Biden's job as president, they chose to say nothing at all.

"Look at how bad these numbers are," CNN's John King said Thursday, discussing the survey.

He observed that Biden's achievements with the coronavirus relief bill last year and the bipartisan $1 trillion infrastructure package are not "sinking in" with the American public, which continues to disapprove of Biden's handling of the economy and the coronavirus pandemic.

"That is a stunning number of the failure to communicate the legitimate successes of the Biden administration," King said.

Whatever successes Biden may have had, and his opponents would contend there haven't been many; rising inflation and the president's failure to "shut down" the coronavirus as promised are leading causes for his poor standing with the American people. Biden's approval rating on the economy fell by eight points to 37% since early December, while his ratings for handling the pandemic decreased nine points to 45%.

Overall, 57% of Americans said the first year of the Biden administration has been more of a failure than a success, and there appears to be no universally popular way for the president to improve his standing because Americans are sharply divided.

On the question of how best to deal with the pandemic, 51% of survey respondents said that "it's time to learn to live with the virus," while 48% said that "stopping the spread of the virus must continue to be the highest priority."

Those numbers are split by party lines: Almost three-quarters of Democrats, 73%, said that stopping the virus needs to be priority number one, while 72% of Republicans and 54% of independents are ready to live with the virus.

"64% of people with children under the age of 18 said it was time to learn to live with the virus, while 54% of those without young children said stopping the spread must continue to be the highest priority."\n\nKarens and AWFLs are the Dem base. What does unite three quarters of Americans are feelings of pandemic "burn out," with 60% describing themselves as angry, 58% saying they are worried, and nearly half, 49%, saying they were confused.

CNN's poll was conducted by SSRS between Jan. 10 and Feb. 6 among a random national sample of 1,527 adults initially reached by mail.
