Voter fraud leads to overturn of Compton city council election. Incumbent had taken seat by single vote — except four ballots cast for him were illegal.

Voter fraud has led to the overturn of an election result from last year's city council race in Compton, California — and now the incumbent who won his seat by a single vote has to give it up for the real winner.

What are the details?

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams on Friday ruled that since four illegal votes had been cast in the Second District race last June for Councilman Isaac Galvan, the true election result is 854 to 851 in favor of challenger Andre Spicer, KNBC-TV reported.

"I'm elated," Spicer — who had contested Galvan's victory — told the station.

He added to KNBC that he's "grateful to the judicial system. This is something we've been fighting hard for — for the last 11 months."

Spicer is expected to be sworn in at 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to KABC-TV.

"The votes — they matter," he added to KNBC.

Incumbent in hot water

Galvan was facing criminal charges of conspiracy to commit election fraud and one count of bribery with the intent to influence an election in connection with Compton's 2021 election, KNBC said.

The L.A. County district attorney's office last August accused four individuals of registering to vote and casting votes in Compton despite living outside the city, KNBC added.

Galvan also is accused of trying to bribe a registrar employee while she was counting ballots on election night, the station said, citing the DA's office.

KNBC said Galvan and other accused individuals pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial.

'A relief'

Spicer told KNBC rumors of voter fraud and other schemes have run rampant for years in Compton, and he said he's been concerned that the community lost faith in the voting process.

"I think this helps to get us engaged again," Spicer added to the station. "It's just a relief for the entire city to expose it and hopefully rid ourselves of it."

KNBC said it hasn't been able to reach Galvan for comment about the election ruling.

Anything else?

A council liaison to Galvan — 27-year-old David M. Blake Jr. — was arrested last week on suspicion of murder, KNBC said in a separate story.

Downey police arrested Blake — the son of L.A. rapper DJ Quik — in Porter Ranch, and he was being held in lieu of $2 million bail, the station reported.

Blake was identified as a murder suspect after a fight and shooting Wednesday afternoon that left 33-year-old Julio Cardoza dead, KNBC said.

The station said Galvan could not be reached for comment Friday in regard to Blake's arrest.

Would-be robber allegedly pulls knife on Compton man who was just walking to his car in his driveway. But the victim has a gun — and shoots the culprit dead.

If the late Sean Connery taught us anything over the span of his famed cinematic career, it's that you never bring a knife to a gun fight.

But as we've seen time and time again, certain folks just can't help themselves.

What happened this time?

A homeowner exited his Compton, California, residence near the 1500 block of West 156th Street around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday and was entering his vehicle in the driveway when a knife-wielding individual — described by authorities as a Hispanic male in his 30s — confronted the homeowner in an apparent robbery attempt, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's office said.

However, the homeowner apparently saw "The Untouchables." He was armed with a gun, authorities said. The alleged attacker? Perhaps not a fan of the film.

The sheriff's office said the homeowner fired at the knife-wielding man, whom deputies found suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper torso upon their arrival at the scene. The suspect, whom authorities did not name, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased man was withheld, pending notification of his relatives, KNBC-TV reported.

Authorities said the knife in question and the homeowner's gun were recovered at the scene.

The homeowner was cooperative, and homicide investigators were questioning him, authorities added. KCBS-TV said it’s unclear whether the homeowner will face any charges.

As the TheBlaze has pointed out many times in the past, more and more Americans are acquiring guns to protect themselves in case of encounters just like this one — and criminals seem to be finding out the hard way that folks are taking up arms and won't hesitate to use them.

Here endeth the lesson.

LA sheriff calls out LeBron James, asks him to match reward for finding gunman who ambushed deputies

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva called out NBA superstar and Black Lives Matter supporter LeBron James on Monday, challenging the Los Angles Lakers star to match and double the reward for bringing to justice the suspect who ambushed two deputies in Compton over the weekend.

What are the details?

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person seen on surveillance video shooting two deputies sitting in their patrol car on Saturday night. Another $75,000 has been added to the reward from private donors.

During an interview with KABC-AM, Villanueva declared, "This challenge is to LeBron James: I want you to match that and double that reward," according to Fox News.

"I know you care about law enforcement," the sheriff continued. "You expressed a very interesting statement about your perspective on race relations and on officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African American community, and I appreciate that. But likewise, we need to appreciate that respect for life goes across all professions."

Villanueva added, "Let's see what he does. I'll be very curious to see what his response is, if any."

What did LeBron James say?

James has been an outspoken critic of law enforcement in the wake of the death of George Floyd, who died while in police custody in Minneapolis in late May after an officer was seen on camera kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes.

Following the shooting of Jacob Blake — who became engaged in a scuffle with officers after they sought to apprehend him over allegations of sexual assault in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last month — James tweeted, "And y'all wonder why we say what we say about the Police!! Someone please tell me WTF is this???!!! Exactly another black man being targeted. This s**t is so wrong and so sad!! Feel so sorry for him, his family and OUR PEOPLE!! We want JUSTICE."

Later that day, James told reporters, "We are scared as black people in America. Black men, black women, black kids. We are, we are terrified."

James has thus far been silent over the shooting of the two deputies in Compton, who remain hospitalized because of their injuries.

According to an earlier report from TheBlaze, the sheriff's department said:

The suspect is described as a black male whose age is estimated to be between 28 and 30. He was wearing dark clothes in the now widely circulated surveillance video. Unfortunately, the low quality of that video makes further description of the suspect virtually impossible at this time.

President Trump on shooter who ambushed two LA deputies: 'He's an animal; he's not a human being.'

President Donald Trump called the shooter who ambushed two Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies while they were sitting in their squad car over the weekend an "animal."

What are the details?

"Now you saw a video of that animal that went up to the car — did everybody see that?" Trump asked during his Las Vegas rally Sunday. "This animal, this animal goes up to the car — two unsuspecting fine people ... fine people. I mean, they are in very grave condition, as you know. Fine people. He's an animal. And I called him an animal, and I was criticized by people for calling him an animal. They said, 'He's a human being.' He's not a human being. He's an animal; he's not a human being."

Reacting early Sunday morning to video of the shooting, Trump tweeted that the shooter and others like the shooter are "animals that must be hit hard!"

As you can probably imagine, some commenters criticized Trump for his tweet. Bishop Talbert Swan — who last month lamented that the "Grim Reaper" took the "wrong Trump" after the president's brother Robert died — tweeted photos of accused Kenosha shooter Kyle Richardson and asked Trump, "What about this animal? You defended him."

In 2018, Trump called murderous MS-13 gang members "animals," after which House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) scolded the president for denying the "spark of divinity" in each person.

What else did Trump say?

At his Sunday rally, Trump also said Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden "wants to appease domestic terrorists, and my plan is to arrest domestic terrorists, OK?" While the crowd cheered and chanted "USA! USA!" the president added, "We also believe that if you murder a police officer, you should receive the death penalty."

Anything else?

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter who ambushed the two deputies. The suspect is described as a black male between 28 and 30 years old. He was wearing dark clothing.

The two deputies — a 24-year-old male and a 31-year-old female who has a 6-year-old child — were rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Both of their conditions have been since upgraded to stable, which Sheriff Alex Villanueva described as a "miracle" since both were shot in the head.

Outside the hospital's entrance, video showed one protester tell law enforcement officers standing guard, "I hope they f***ing die." Another video showed the officers standing guard being told that "you're next" and "y'all gonna die one by one."

Sheriff Villanueva tweeted his thanks to Trump and Biden for reaching out with "kind words regarding the horrific ambush which our two brave deputies survived last night," KCBS-TV reported.

"Thank you for setting partisanship aside and showing your support for the LASD and all law enforcement across the County of L.A.," Villanueva said, according to the station.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department offers massive reward for information leading to the arrest of the Compton ambush shooter

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of an individual who was caught on video ambushing and shooting two Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies as they sat in a patrol car.

According to Fox News, the department announced the reward late Sunday night. Individuals with information can contact the Sheriff's Department directly at (323) 890-5500 or can leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

The suspect is described as a black male whose age is estimated to be between 28 and 30. He was wearing dark clothes in the now widely circulated surveillance video. Unfortunately, the low quality of that video makes further description of the suspect virtually impossible at this time.

The ambush attack occurred at approximately 7 p.m. local time on Saturday. The two deputies, a 24-year-old male and a 31-year-old female, both have less than two years' service with the department. According to the department, the female deputy has a 6-year-old daughter. Both were rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where protesters reportedly blocked the entrance and chanted "let them die."

The condition of both deputies has since been upgraded to stable, which Sheriff Alex Villanueva described as a "miracle" since both were shot in the head.

According to the Los Angeles Times, at a Sunday press conference, Villanueva said, "There is no rhyme or reason to it; it is an act of a coward. Obviously tensions were running high in the neighborhood with the deputy-involved shooting. But there is no nexus to it at this time. We are chasing all leads."

Lynwood City Manager on LASD Shooting in Compton: 'Chickens Come Home to Roost'

BLM protesters try to block, storm emergency room where shot deputies were taken: 'you're going to f***ing die one by one'

Men identified as Black Lives Matter protesters stormed the entrances of a hospital where two sheriffs deputies were being treated following an attempted assassination attempt on their lives in Compton, Los Angeles on Saturday.

'Y'all gonna die one by one': BLM activists storm hospital where ambushed officers taken, block exits

After two Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies sustained multiple gunshot wounds upon being ambushed while sitting in their patrol vehicle on Saturday, alleged Black Lives Matters protesters stormed the hospital where the officers were transported to for emergency surgery.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, protesters attempted to block the entrance and exit of the hospital. Protesters also shouted that they hoped the injured officers died.

"To the protesters blocking the entrance & exit of the HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM yelling 'We hope they die' referring to 2 LA Sheriff's ambushed today in #Compton: DO NOT BLOCK EMERGENCY ENTRIES & EXITS TO THE HOSPITAL. People's lives are at stake when ambulances can't get through," the agency said.

Video taken from outside the hospital showed one protester tell law enforcement officers standing guard outside the hospital, "I hope they f***ing die," referring to the injured officers.

Other video taken from outside the hospital showed the alleged BLM activists berate the officers who guarded the hospital's perimeter.

The activists told the officers, "you're next" and "y'all gonna die one by one."

"Y'all ain't s***. F*** that b***h," one activist is heard saying.

One witness told KABC-TV that he heard the protesters say "death to the police" and "kill the police."

That same witness also told the news outlet that he saw the protesters attempt to breach the hospital.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office said police arrested two individuals, including one member of the press.

After deputies issued a dispersal order for the unlawful assembly of a group of protesters blocking the hospital emergency entrance & exits, a male adult protester refused to comply & cooperate. During his arrest, a struggle ensued at which time a female adult ran towards the deputies, ignored repeated commands to stay back as they struggled with the male and interfered with the arrest. The female adult, who was later identified as a member of the press, did not identify herself as press and later admitted she did not have proper press credentials on her person. Both individuals have been arrested for 148 P.C.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, a Democrat, responded by condemning the protesters.

"There's no place in civilized society for anybody to draw an arm and to shoot our law enforcement officers that put their lives on the line. And I won't ever let a couple voices that not only are uncalled for, but it's abhorrent to say something like that when we have two deputies in grave condition," Garcetti said Sunday on CNN.

'F**cking Die': BLM Activists Lay Siege to LA Hospital Treating Officers Hit in 'Ambush' Shooting

Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters allegedly blocked the entrance to an emergency room at a Los Angeles hospital early Sunday morning where two police officers were being treated for gunshot wounds after an “ambush”, the sheriff’s office has claimed.
