'When is enough enough?' California bill would use taxpayer funds to protect violent illegal aliens from deportation

California Democrats on the state Assembly Judiciary Committee are poised to advance a radical piece of legislation that would use taxpayer funds to help illegal aliens who have been charged or convicted with violent felonies fight deportation.

Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D) suggested in a statement last month that the One California Immigration Services Funding program "has failed to match California's commitment to equity, as the program prohibits funds from being used to assist certain individuals who had past interactions with the criminal legal system."

In hopes of making life easier for criminal noncitizens, Jones-Sawyer introduced AB 2031, the so-called "Representation, Equity, and Protections for All Immigrants Act."

The bill notes that existing law permits the State Department of Social Services to direct taxpayer funds to nonprofit outfits via contracts "in order to provide persons with certain immigration-related legal services."

Presently, such grants are aimed at legal services for unaccompanied illegal aliens under the age of 18 who have been transferred to the care and custody of the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement and are present in the state.

Under AB 2031, recipients of such legal services need no longer be current or former California residents. Now, they merely need to have "an intent" to reside in California.

Additionally, the illegal alien-facing services would be expanded to include "legal representation and related services for removal defense."

The most contentious part of the Democratic bill is its proposed removal of the current prohibition on the "use of the grant funds to provide legal services to an individual who has been convicted of, or who is currently appealing a conviction for, a violent or serious felony."

Accordingly, California taxpayers would effectively fund legal efforts to help iIlegal aliens like those who allegedly murdered beloved Georgia nursing student Laken Hope Riley, 2-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres of Maryland, and Ruperto Mondragon Salgado of Dallas stay in the country and possibly even eliminate their sentences.

"For as long as I have been in state office, I have worked towards ensuring people are given a second chance and have championed efforts to prevent people from being treated as second-class individuals," said Jones-Sawyer. "The REP for All Immigrants Act ensures racial justice and truly equitable access to crucial immigration services for all – not some."

Assemblyman Bilal Essayli (R) noted on X, "These are the exact policies that led to the murder of a nursing student in Georgia, Laken Riley."

Responding to the bill on X, South African billionaire Elon Musk wrote, "When is enough enough?"

Assemblywoman Kate Sanchez (R) said "AB 2031 is completely UNACCEPTABLE. Why do they want to prioritize immigrant rapists & murderers over everyone else?"

— (@)

Sanchez noted further that the Assembly Judiciary committee would be holding a hearing on the bill Tuesday and asked her followers to "call your legislators to let them know your opinion on it."

Assemblyman Ash Kalra (D) is the chair of the Judiciary Committee. Diane Dixon (R) is its vice chair. The members of the committee are as follows: Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D); Isaac Bryan (D); Damon Connolly (D); Matt Haney (D); Brian Maienschein (D); Tina McKinnor (D); Blanca Pacheco (D); Kate A. Sanchez (R); Eloise Gomez Reyes (D); and Marie Waldron (R).

While critics have noted that Jones-Sawyer's bill will help criminal noncitizens at the expense of American citizens, Shayna Kessler, associate director for advocacy with the New York-based Vera Institute of Justice, appeared to figure that to be the point, suggesting that the "current criminal exclusion exacerbates systemic racism in the criminal legal and immigration systems."

"California must remain a leader in protecting its immigrant communities and pass the California REP4All Act to advance universal legal representation for all people facing deportation, regardless of their interaction with the criminal legal system," added Kessler.

Mashih Fouladi, executive director at the California Immigrant Policy Center, intimated that having citizens bankroll the legal defense of convicted murderers and rapists is a matter of helping vulnerable families.

"The California Immigrant Policy Center (CIPC) is proud to support and co-sponsor the REP4All bill that would ensure immigrant families have access to the legal services and resources they need to thrive with safety and stability – regardless of an individual's criminal history," said Fouladi. "Publicly funded immigration services protect the most vulnerable families in our state and improve the quality of life of all Californians."

Grieving mother sues DHS over MS-13 member's alleged rape and murder of her autistic daughter

Kayla Hamilton, an autistic girl from Virginia, was savagely raped and murdered in Maryland one year into the Biden presidency. The suspect charged for the 20-year-old American's murder is not only an illegal alien but a member of the terroristic gang Mara Salvatrucha 13.

While justice may ultimately be meted out to the suspect later this year, Kayla Hamilton's grieving mother wants those who allowed him and innumerable other foreign criminals into the country to similarly be held accountable.

Tammy Nobles has filed a $100 million lawsuit against the Biden Department of Homeland Security as well as against the Department of Health and Human Services for allegedly violating their own policies and setting the stage for Hamilton's gruesome demise.

What's the background?

Blaze News previously reported that Hamilton's body was found in a mobile home at the Rancho Estates on E. Inca Street in Aberdeen on July 27, 2022, just days after her birthday. She had recently moved to the area from Norfolk, Virginia, with her 22-year-old boyfriend, who police have indicated had nothing to do with the crime.

The Maryland chief medical examiner determined that Hamilton's cause of death was strangulation.

The Aberdeen Police Department of Maryland announced on Jan. 19, 2023, that they had arrested a 17-year-old suspect in Edgewood, Maryland.

The suspected killer, identified as a person of interest early in the investigation, is a criminal noncitizen from El Salvador who has been living in the U.S. illegally since March 2022. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were able to verify that he was listed in his native country as a member of MS-13, according to the APD.

The Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division compared the MS-13 member's DNA with evidence recovered at the crime scene, delivering damning results. The suspect was ultimately indicted on 11 charges, including first- and second-degree murder, rape, robbery, assault and theft.

Hamilton's case is expected to begin in June.

A mother's grief

Tammy Nobles testified Thursday before the House Committee on Homeland Security during a hearing entitled, "Voices for the Victims: The Heartbreaking Reality of the Mayorkas Border Crisis." Holding back tears, the distraught mother underscored that if the U.S. had "stricter border policies, [her] daughter would still be alive today."

Nobles contrasted the joys of bringing her daughter into the world and raising her with the gut-punch of learning in 2022 that "Kayla Hamilton was murdered in her own room and left on the floor like trash."

"The illegal MS-13 known gang member brutally raped and murdered my daughter by strangling her with a cord and robbed her of $6.00," said Nobles. "During the attack Kayla called her boyfriend for help but went to voicemail. The voicemail of the murderer strangling Kayla was 2 minutes and 30 seconds long."

Nobles claimed that DHS employees failed to inspect the suspect by checking for gang-related tattoos when allowing him into the United States.

"Had DHS employees performed a visual inspection of the assailant's body, they would have seen MS-13 gang-related tattoos on his body, disqualifying him from entering the U.S.," said the grieving mother. "DHS employees failed to make a simple phone call to the El Salvador government to verify if assailant was on an MS-13 gang affiliation list. Had they done so, El Salvador government officials would have confirmed that the assailant was a known MS-13 gang member with a prior criminal history."

Nobles also blasted the DHHS, claiming its "operational neglect further sealed my daughter's fate."

According to Nobles, the DHHS bears some of the blame because it allegedly failed to place the suspect with a verified relative before allowing him into the country.

"DHHS' failures allowed the MS-13 gang member, as a minor, to rent a room in a trailer park from another individual who was also an illegal immigrant," said Nobles.

Nobles later noted that while she shared her pain and the story of Kayla's brutal murder during her testimony, "the Democrats were on their phones."

— (@)

Accountability

Attorney Brian Claypool of the California-based Claypool Law Firm recently filed the case against the DHS and DHHS on Nobles' behalf, repeating the allegations the grieving mother made during her congressional testimony.

"This is a clear liability case. The U.S. Government owed Ms. Hamilton a special duty in light of her murderer having a criminal propensity shown by his arrest in his native El Salvador, and being a known MS-13 gang member in El Salvador," says the wrongful death complaint obtained by the Washington Examiner.

"Had DHS vetted the assailant according to policy, he would have been placed in a secure facility for criminal unaccompanied minors rather than being placed with an alleged first cousin whom he escaped from," continues the complaint. "At no time should assailant have been roaming free in Aberdeen."

Claypool told NewsNation, "We're bringing this lawsuit because we're tired of being held hostage in our own country. We're tired of DHS playing Russian roulette with our lives."

The Examiner indicated the DHS did not respond to a request for comment.

Over 300,000 foreign nationals reportedly entered the country illegally last month.

2.47 million, 2.37 million, and 1.73 million illegal aliens entered the U.S. in fiscal years 2023, 2022, and 2021, respectively. Over the course of those three years, 436,257 unaccompanied minors reportedly came over the border.

There is no knowing what crimes foreign nationals who have successfully stolen past border officials may previously have committed. However, U.S. Customs and Border Protection indicated that there were 284 sexual offense convictions among those they managed to apprehend in fiscal year 2023. There were also 29 previous convictions among the arrestees for murder; 1,254 for assault or battery; 2,493 for drunk driving; 2,055 for drug charges; and 864 for burglary, robbery, theft or fraud.

ICE captures violent illegal alien accused of raping a Virginia minor and producing child pornography

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Monday that it captured a 21-year-old illegal alien from Honduras charged with raping a Virginia minor and producing child pornography. While U.S. Border Patrol initially caught him in January 2020, he was released into a children's facility in New York, then later set loose on Virginia. It appears that in the meantime, at least one life was destroyed.

Deportation officers from the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Washington, D.C., team caught up with the criminal noncitizen on Dec. 4 in Springfield, Virginia. During the arrest, the alleged pedophile viciously attacked a deportation officer.

Despite having an accused pedophile prowling its streets for months, Deputy Field Office Director Erik Weiss indicated that "Fairfax County refused to honor the ICE detainer lodged against this Honduran noncitizen."

Fairfax County boasts on its website that it "does not and will not enforce civil federal immigration laws." The county also provides guidance to foreign nationals hoping to continue flouting the laws of the land, including tips on what to do if "immigration or the police come to your door."

"When ICE detainers are ignored by local authorities, the public is put at risk; unfortunately, this time the result was the unnecessary injury of a federal law enforcement officer while prosecuting the arrest of a noncitizen charged with sexually abusing a Virginia minor and producing child sexual abuse material," Weiss added.

ICE noted that the alleged child rapist had stolen into the country on an unknown date "without being inspected, admitted or paroled by an immigration official." While he was off the radar like millions of other gotaways, USBP managed to nab him in January 2020 near Clint, Texas.

Although a military-age foreign national, the alleged rapist was treated by border officials as an unaccompanied juvenile. He was provided with a notice to appear before a Biden Department of Justice immigration judge and charged with being in the U.S. without admission or parole.

After receiving his notice and charges, the alleged child rapist was set loose in Kingston, New York, under the supposed custody of the Office of Refugee and Resettlement — at the Children's Home of Kingston. One month later, USBP released him into the custody of his supposed father in Alexandria, Virginia.

In July 2023, the alleged child rapist was arrested and charged with carnal knowledge of a child between the ages of 13 an 14 without force, possession of child porn, and producing child sexual abuse material.

ICE noted that its Pacific Enforcement Response Center lodged an immigration detainer against the alleged pedophile with the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on the day of his arrest. However, the detention center "did not honor the immigration detainer and released the Honduran noncitizen from custody without notifying ERO Washington, D.C."

Without the help of Fairfax County, ERO Washington's Mobile Criminal Apprehensions Team raided the alleged child rapist's residence on Jan. 4, according to ICE.

During the arrest, the illegal alien reportedly punched an officer. Extra to the child rape and child pornography charges, it appears the illegal alien will also be prosecuted for the assault.

This suspect's story is eerily similar to that of another Honduran rapist who recently got picked up by ICE.

In October, ICE revealed it had arrested a Honduran in Herndon, Virginia, who had been charged with felony rape by force, threat, or intimidation; abduction by force; and assault on a family member. USBP initially arrested him near Roma, Texas, in June 2021, and issued him a notice to appear before an immigration judge.

The antagonist in this second case was arrested by the Herndon Police Department in Virginia on July 20, 2023, and charged for rape and other crimes. Again, ERO Washington, D.C., issued an immigration detainer, and again the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center cut the foreign rape suspect loose.

Finally, on Oct. 12, ERO officers caught up with him, then kept him under lock and key.

On Oct. 30, ICE was able to send another alleged rapist from Honduras back to his home country before he could reoffend on American soil. Wilian Emilson Castro Bustillo, 34, illegally entered the country near Eagle Pass, Texas, on June 11.

ERO San Antonio took custody of him days later and learned he was wanted for aggravated sexual assault. An immigration judge ordered his removal from the U.S. on Sept. 1.

Blaze News previously reported that only a small percentage of illegal aliens were deported last year — roughly 4.4% of the over 2 million migrants encountered at the border. Of the deportees, 49% had criminal histories with an average of 3.8 convictions per criminal. 3,809 of the criminal convictions catalogued were for rape; 1,457 were for homicide; 1,450 were for kidnappings; 26,714 were for assault; and 2,760 were for robbery.

Twice-deported illegal alien charged with murdering two men in Tennessee

A twice-deported illegal alien from Honduras was charged with murder twice last week in Nashville, Tennessee.

Kevin Joel Castro-Garcia, 31, was first charged on Oct. 10 for the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Elmer Nahum Miranda-Martinez.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the victim's body was discovered on Sept. 27 in the trunk of a car that had been torched and dumped in a forested area off Franklin Limestone Road. Police suggested the victim had been shot before being placed in the vehicle.

Castro-Garcia was charged with murder again Friday, this time in the slaying of a 26-year-old Nashville man.

Brandon Rivas-Noriega's mother reported him missing on Oct. 5, noting the family had received messages from him suggesting he was in trouble and needed money, according to police.

Rivas-Noriega had last been seen driving his mother's 2015 Ford Focus on Oct. 3.

Investigators, led by Detective Anthony Chandler, determined the victim had frequented a home at 4660 Fanning Drive, where they found his driver's license and the owner's manual for the Ford Focus. Investigators also found paperwork concerning a second property, located at 1395 Rural Hill Road.

The victim's car was found at the second property behind an abandoned trailer. His decomposing remains were discovered inside the trunk of the Ford Focus.

Police indicated that the victim was gunned down at the first location, then driven to the second location. Several tattoos had been sliced off Rivas-Noriega's body. Extra to murder, Castro-Garcia was charged with felony abuse of a corpse in this second case, which would suggest the tattoo removal was conducted posthumously.

Castro-Garcia was deported from the U.S. in 2010 and in 2018. He remains in custody on a $1.1 million bond. According to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, he is listed as ineligible for release on account of an ICE detainer.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 6,101,633 illegal aliens stole across the southern border into U.S. between the time President Joe Biden took office in January 2021 and August 2023.

As of Sept. 22 this fiscal year, U.S. Border Patrol had already arrested 12,659 noncitizens with prior convictions for crimes committed in either the U.S. or abroad.

Afghan national on terror watch list arrested after crossing southern border: 'A stark reminder of the failures of the Federal Government'

An Afghan national on the FBI's terror watch list was arrested Wednesday after stealing across the southern border into San Diego with a platoon of other illegal aliens.

Border Patrol agents took the suspect, along with other migrants who had crossed the border near Otay Mesa, to a processing center, reported the New York Post. At the facility, officials determined with a fingerprint scan that the Afghan suspect was on the Terrorist Screening Database.

After the September 11 attacks on the United States, various terrorism watch lists were consolidated to form the TSDB, which has information on people reasonably suspected of being involved in terrorism.

Upon notification that the suspect was indeed on the TSDB, the FBI confirmed the results, then opened an investigation.

Jim Desmond, a San Diego County supervisor overseeing District 5, stated Sunday that the apprehension of the Afghani with suspected terror ties "should serve as a stark reminder to President Biden and the Federal Government on the critical need for maintaining a strong border."

"The open border policy has allowed fentanyl to pour into our country, asylum seekers to be human trafficked, and terrorists to attempt entry into our country," wrote Desmond. "The protection of our citizens, the preservation of national security, and the facilitation of safe and legal immigration should be a top priority for this administration, yet they have failed."

Desmond added, "The presence of an individual on the terror watch list crossing our borders is a stark reminder of the failures of the Federal Government that are now being put on San Diegans and Americans."

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) confirmed Sunday a "wanted terrorist crossing our open border in the San Diego region just days ago."

Issa told Fox News that terrorists are incentivized to enter the U.S. by the Biden administration's border policies.

"Biden’s open borders aren’t just a gateway to five million illegals, record human and child trafficking, and the deadliest drug crisis in our history," said Issa. "Biden’s reckless policy is also an open invitation to even the most wanted terrorists in the world to come to America. They know they’ll never have to leave. The nation knows what’s going on, and this president has only begun to be held accountable for what he has done."

While the Afghan national was captured, potentially sparing the United States from a terror attack, the border's porosity and the thinly spread American security presence along it might mean other threats could pass unchallenged.

Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas), whose husband is a Border Patrol agent, told Just the News, "It's going to get really bad. ... Our Border Patrol agents are exhausted. They can't apprehend everyone coming in. So you have cartels taking advantage of our weak immigration policies. We have terrorists taking advantage of our weak policies."

In March, Border Patrol Chief Paul Ortiz emphasized to Congress that border security had crumbled under President Joe Biden,.

When asked whether Border Patrol had operational control of the U.S. border months before the end of Title 42, he answered, "No, sir."

At the time he indicated that the U.S. had already lost control of its southern border, roughly 5,000 illegal aliens were entering the country daily. Daily crossings more than doubled last week, reported Reuters,

Just the News indicated that when the daily total hits 16,000, only 10% of available border agents will be on patrol.

National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd suggested at that stage, cartels will be in full control.

"We don't have as many Border Patrol agents patrolling the border. When we're apprehending 5,000 people a day – now we only have 50% of our Border Patrol agents patrolling the border. When we hit 10,000 apprehensions a day, that means we're only deploying 30% of our border patrol agents to patrol the border," said Judd.

Judd added, "And when that happens, the cartels are able to gain ground on the vast majority of our border, as they start controlling the vast majority of our border. Once those numbers go up to 13,000 to 16,000, we're only going to have 10% of our Border Patrol agents actively patrolling the border, and the cartels will own every inch of the border."

Biden said in a moment of clarity on May 9 that the southern border will be "chaotic for a while," starting when Title 42 expires on May 11.

It is unclear by what measure the president qualifies chaos, given that over 5 million illegal aliens have stolen across the border since he took office; illegal immigration is already costing taxpayers $151 billion per year; and criminal noncitizens are committing grievous crimes in the homeland every year.

'He could have saved my wife's life, but he didn't choose to': Illegal alien accused of leaving legal immigrant to burn to death in a fiery wreck

An illegal alien has been charged in the April 3 hit-and-run crash that left a Massachusetts mother dead.

Erpharo Gilbert, 46, a legal immigrant from Haiti, worked for Boston Medical Center and Victory Human Services. On April 3, she was making her way up Route 24 to the sanctuary city of Boston to begin her overnight shift as a social worker when the driver of a 2008 Toyota Scion TC smashed her vehicle into a concrete barrier, reported Boston.com.

After the initial impact, a pickup truck then rear-ended Gilbert's car, causing it to "become fully engulfed in flames," said police.

The driver of the Toyota fled his wreck and victim.

Although firefighters were ultimately able to put out the flames, Gilbert did not make it and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gilbert's husband, Jean Marie Coquillon of Raynham, told WPRI-TV that his wife might have survived had her killer stuck around to help rather than fleeing the scene.

"If you stopped and didn’t run, maybe you could have saved her life," said Coquillon.

The grieving husband later told WBTS-TV, "It was a big mistake for him. ... He could have saved my wife's life, but he didn't choose to."

Coquillon made clear that the man responsible couldn't remain hidden for long.

"This is America," he added. "They will find you, wherever you are. They will find you and you will pay."

Juan Leonardo Parra Altamirano, 33, an illegal alien from Ecuador, turned himself in on April 6 at the Massachusetts State Police barracks in Middleboro, where he was arrested, reported WBTS.

During his subsequent arraignment at Brockton District Court, Altamirano pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in death, leaving the scene of a crash causing personal injury, and leaving the scene of a crash causing property damage.

Prosecutors indicated that a bumper with a license plate was found at the scene of the crash, linking Altamirano to Gilbert's death, reported CBS News. Altamirano allegedly also hid the damaged Toyota and removed the remaining license plate.

Altamirano's bail has been set at $100,000.

"Thankfully, they got the guy. They got the guy, but it's not going to bring my wife back," said Coquillon. "I trust the justice system, and I know he'll pay for what he did."

Coquillon indicated his son is "still waiting for his mom to come home. ... Always at the window, looking, when he sees a black Honda, he knows that's his mom."

The Boston Herald reported that following Altamirano's arrest, ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston field office issued an immigration detainer. The Executive Office for Immigration Review under the Department of Justice will oversee potential removal proceedings.

Gilbert is allegedly among the many Americans victimized by illegal aliens this year.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 560 illegal aliens have been arrested in fiscal year 2023 for driving under the influence; 346 have been arrested for assault or battery; 282 have been arrested for burglary, robbery, larceny, or fraud; 93 have been arrested for sexual offenses; and 11 have been arrested for homicide.

Over 1 million illegal aliens stole into the U.S. between October and February, adding to the 2.3 million and 1.7 million who entered during the previous two fiscal years.

Long before the unprecedented surge under the Biden administration, Massachusetts already had a significant illegal alien population.

According to the American Immigration Council, there were at least 250,000 illegal aliens in the state as of 2016, accounting for 4% of the total population. That number reportedly jumped by 15,000 in 2017. A 2022 Federation for American Immigration Reform estimate puts the population around 300,000.

While Massachusetts is not officially a sanctuary state, a 2017 state Supreme Judicial Court ruling indicated that officers do not have the authority to arrest an illegal alien who is not facing criminal charges, reported NECN.

Even without that ruling, Boston and seven other cities in the state refuse to enforce federal immigration laws.

NYC Democrat Mayor Eric Adams: 'No more room' in his 'sanctuary city' for illegal aliens

New York City's Democrat mayor vowed to hinder federal efforts to deport criminal noncitizens when running for office and indicated he would maintain NYC's "sanctuary city status." He went so far as to support legislation that would allow foreign nationals to vote in local elections.

Mayor Eric Adams has since begun to reap the whirlwind.

Adams traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border over the weekend to beg for help in tackling the fallout of the border crisis, suggesting that NYC may no longer be the sanctuary it was cracked up to be.

What's the background?

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott previously invited Adams to visit the Lone Star State and to "see firsthand the dire situation that only grows more urgent with each passing day, and to meet with the local officials, who like yourselves, realize this matter deserves immediate federal action."

Adams had rejected the offer, and instead threatened the governor — who has been busing undocumented migrants who had stolen into Texas over to Democrat-run states and cities — with political interference and legal action.

In October, Adams declared a state of emergency in New York City over bused migrants from Texas, saying, "We are in a crisis situation. New York City now has more than 61,000 in our shelter system."

The mayor indicated that 17,000 illegal aliens hailed from border states, such as Texas, and that the city was poised to spend $1 billion by the end of the fiscal year in an effort to remedy the problem — a problem that border cities and states have suffered on a far greater scale over a much longer period of time.

Reuters reported that the illegal migrant crisis may now cost the city upwards of $2 billion amid a major budget shortfall.

In December, Adams noted that the influx of illegal aliens was adversely impacting "every service we provide."

"It's going to impact education. It's going to impact the dollars we use to clean our streets. It's going to impact our public safety," he said.

“#BREAKING: NYC Mayor Eric Adams warns New Yorkers: "Every service we provide is going to be impacted by the influx of migrants in our city. It's going to impact education. It's going to impact the dollars we use to clean our streets. It's going to impact our public safety."”
— Forbes (@Forbes) 1671466930

Adams recently expressed frustration that Colorado had joined Republican-run states in busing illegal aliens to his city, reported TheBlaze.

"One time we had to deal with Republican governors sending migrants to New York," he complained. "Now we’re dealing with Democratic governors sending migrants to New York."

Gov. Abbott has maintained that "what Adams is dealing with is a trifle of what small border towns grapple with daily."

New York City has enough illegal aliens, thanks

Mayor Adams traveled to Texas over the weekend to admit that "trifle" has proven too great for NYC.

During his Sunday visit to Democrat-run El Paso, Adams said that "there is no room in New York" for the busloads of illegal aliens being sent to his sanctuary city.

NYC "cannot take more," he emphasized.

"Once the asylum seekers from today's buses are provided shelter, we will surpass the highest number of people in recorded history in our city's shelter system," said Adams.

CBS News reported that Adams noted both how NYC's shelters were running out of space and how his city was also dealing with the 5,500 migrant children it had admitted into its crowded public schools.

"We have not asked for this," he added. "There was never any agreement to take on the job of supporting thousands of asylum seekers. This responsibility was simply handed to us without warning as buses began showing up."

In June 2021, Adams appeared to ask for this:

“New York City is, and has always been, a City of immigrants. We are a destination for diversity and a place where people from every nation seek refuge, raise families, and enrich our communities. Under my administration, our government will reflect that.”
— Eric Adams (@Eric Adams) 1622755987

Renae Eze, a spokesman for Abbott, accused Adams of hypocrisy, saying, "The true emergency is on our nation's southern border where small Texas border towns are overrun and overwhelmed by hundreds of migrants every single day as the Biden administration dumps them in their communities."

The migrants bused to NYC represent a tiny fraction of the total number of illegal aliens who have entered the U.S. since President Joe Biden took office.

Roughly 500,000 illegal aliens had already been encountered at the border by November this fiscal year; 2.37 million criminal noncitizens poured over the southern border last year, and millions more stole over in 2021.

The Democrat mayor echoed a suggestion previously made by Republican governors, saying, "Now is the time for the national government to do its job" about the record number of illegal aliens stealing across the southern border.

"We expect more from our national leaders to address this issue in a real way," Adams added, suggesting that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) should "step up."

Ahead of his trip to the border, Adams told Caribbean Power Jam Radio that the strain placed on NYC institutions by the border crisis "is just inhumane on the part of the national government. And I really believe it’s irresponsible, that we have not had a real national response to what’s happening at our border."

El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser (D), who has bused thousands of illegal aliens to NYC, gave Adams a tour of an area where illegal aliens steal into the U.S. and another area where the migrants camp out.

“.@NYCMayor landed in El Paso, Texas tonight to survey the asylum seeker crisis at the southern border.

El Paso Mayor Leeser took us an impromptu visit to an area where asylum seekers have been known to cross the border, as well as an area where many asylum seekers are sleeping.”
— Fabien Levy (@Fabien Levy) 1673763647

El Paso — a city of fewer than 700,000 people — saw 84,082 illegal aliens released into it between Aug. 22 and Dec. 11, reported the Washington Examiner.

The city's Migrant Situational Awareness Dashboard indicates that thousands more pour in every day.

Leeser declared a state of emergency in December, noting that "our asylum-seekers are not safe as we have hundreds and hundreds on the streets."

During Adams' day trip through Texans' nightmare, he was met by illegal aliens keen to return to NYC.

Elvis Mendoza was one of the migrants who gathered in El Paso to meet Adams.

Mendoza told the New York Post, "I would like to go to sanctuary."

Another migrant from Venezuela said, "I heard that they can help me in New York more than elsewhere. I heard the shelters are great there."

ABC News reporter blames Republicans for invasion at southern border, claims Biden didn't invite illegal migrants to 'come on over'

In a recent interview with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, ABC News' Martha Raddatz suggested that Republican critiques of the Biden administration's open-border policies — not the policies themselves — are to blame for the invasion under way at the southern border.

By way of strategically faulty memory, Raddatz also claimed that President Joe Biden never called on illegal aliens to "come on over."

What are the details?

Raddatz, the reporter who wept bitterly on television when former President Donald Trump was elected in 2016, discussed the border crisis with Abbott in an interview on ABCs' "This Week" that aired Sunday evening.

"You talk about the border wall, you talk about open borders, I don't think I've ever heard President Biden say, 'We have an open border, come on over,'" said Raddatz.

Raddatz may not have heard Biden struggle with those exact words, but in the first Democratic primary debate, she might have caught Biden say that when he is president, illegal aliens should "surge to the border. ... We're a nation that says, 'You want to flee, and you're fleeing oppression, you should come.'"

In recent years, Biden has gone beyond explicitly telling foreign nationals who knowingly violate American territorial sovereignty "to come," promising them health care; an end to detentions of illegal border crossers; an end to deportations; and amnesty.

The Biden administration spent billions to halt construction of the previous administration's planned border wall and was instrumental in lifting the Trump-era Title 42 border policy, which served as a partial bulwark against illegal immigration and foreigner-borne disease during the pandemic.

While an unprecedented number of illegal aliens have stolen across the southern border since Biden took office (over 2.37 million in 2022 and 1.73 million in 2021), officials anticipate a greater flood after Title 42 is eliminated on Dec. 21.

Shifting blame

In the final stretch of the interview, Raddatz cited the opinion of unnamed sources, claiming that it was the rhetoric employed by Republican critics of Biden's open-borders policies that has been driving illegals to make the crossing.

"People I have heard say [that the border is open] are you, are former President Trump, Ron DeSantis — that message reverberates in Mexico and beyond. So they do get the message that it is an open border, and smugglers use all those kinds of statements," said Raddatz.

Abbott responded, "It was known from the time that Joe Biden got elected that Joe Biden supported open borders. It's known by the cartels who have sophisticated information. Whether or not the Biden administration is going to enforce the immigration laws or not is known across the world, but most importantly known among the cartels."

Newsbusters' Kevin Tober called Raddatz' allegation "obviously absurd."

Republicans "can proclaim the border to be open, but if it wasn’t, migrants would be unable to get into the United States in the numbers that they are," wrote Tober.

Despite suggesting that Republicans were to blame, in the segment, Raddatz spoke to a pair of illegal aliens who confirmed that Biden's border policy changes was what prompted their journey.

Although Raddatz may have trouble remembering, last year, an illegal alien informed her that he would "definitely not" have tried to cross while Trump was in office; that his reason for coming was "basically" because Biden was now in office.
