Chicago shootings: 50 people shot, 10 fatally this weekend. New video shows criminals armed with makeshift machine guns open fire on crowd, killing 14 year old.

Chicago suffered yet another bloody weekend as scores of shootings erupted throughout the city. Shooting fatalities reached double digits for the second weekend in a row.

WLS-TV reported on Sunday night, "At least 50 people have been shot, 10 fatally, in Chicago shootings so far this weekend, police said."

There were 51 people shot, including 12 fatally, during Memorial Day weekend in Chicago.

Included in this weekend's rampant gun violence was a tragic mass shooting in the Austin neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side.

A large group gathered to commemorate a man who perished in a fatal car crash four years earlier, according to police. A verbal altercation erupted during the tribute for the deceased man, which then quickly escalated into a deadly gunfight, said Deputy Chief Adnardo Gutierrez of the Chicago Police Department.

"They were out there celebrating and then something happened, and a verbal altercation occurred, and somebody began shooting, or multiple people began shooting,” Gutierrez said during a press conference on Sunday.

Surveillance video shows the moment that gunfire erupts. People at the celebration of life event run for their lives. The footage shows a gunman behind a car shooting his firearm.

A 25-year-old woman was fatally shot and six other people were wounded. The woman was pronounced dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital. The six other victims were hospitalized, including a 29-year-old man in critical condition with a chest wound.

Police are still investigating the mass shooting, and no suspects have been arrested as of Sunday afternoon.

The heartbreaking gun violence was not only reserved for the weekend.

CWB Chicago released chilling video of a group of criminals armed with makeshift machine guns opening fire on a crowd. The alarming video reportedly shows a fatal shooting that happened around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

The shocking video released on Sunday shows four armed suspects scurrying through a vacant lot and hiding behind bushes and a building. Then they all spring out and unleash a hailstorm of gunfire into a crowd not seen on the video. Two of the shooters were using machine gun-like firearms.

CWB Chicago reported, "The offenders whose guns generated automatic fire were likely using handguns equipped with 'Glock switches,' illegal after-market devices that enable semi-automatic pistols to fire more than one round with a single trigger pull. The devices are prohibited under state and federal laws."

The shooting killed 14-year-old Pierre Johnson after he was shot in the chest. Two men, ages 18 and 19, were critically wounded. A 21-year-old man was shot in the hand.

Officers with the Chicago Police Department responded to the shooting. When they arrived at the crime scene, a 16-year-old boy shot at them, and they returned fire.

The boy was found with a gunshot wound to his leg, but investigators said it was not clear if he was shot by police or the earlier shooting.

The boy was arrested and charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder of peace officers, three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm toward a vehicle occupied by peace officers, three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm toward an occupied vehicle, and unlawful use of a weapon by a person under 21, according to police.

Video: Mob of thugs descend upon apparent Chicago bus driver, tackle him to street, repeatedly punch and stomp him

Video circulating on social media shows what appears to be a Chicago Transit Authority bus driver getting swarmed by a mob of thugs, tackled to the street, and repeatedly punched and stomped over the weekend in the popular downtown shopping area known as the Loop.

What are the details?

The clip shows the apparent driver standing outside a bus and facing one individual as a crowd gathers around them. One person is heard telling the driver he'd "better get back on that bus!"

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @Paulvallas

Suddenly the apparent driver seems to push with his left hand the individual facing him, and that individual appears to move away. Second later screams are heard and a fight breaks out.

The apparent driver has the upper hand at first, grabbing and pushing one male backward for a considerable distance.

But at that point a mob descends upon the apparent driver, and he has no chance as thugs tackle and then beat him.

At the end of the clip, a police officer appears and seems to be moving toward the attack.

What else do we know?

Chicago police said a 49-year-old CTA bus driver was traveling in the Loop around 9 p.m. Saturday when he heard a loud noise, WFLD-TV reported, after which the driver stopped the bus to inspect it.

While the driver was doing this, police told the station a male and female began to push the driver and then punched the driver multiple times before fleeing.

Police told WFLD the driver's face and body were bruised, and he was taken to a hospital in fair condition. The station's report does not include the video circulating on social media.

A 15-year-old male identified as a suspect in the attack was arrested in the 100 block of North Michigan Avenue and charged with one count of aggravated battery to a transit employee and disorderly conduct, police added to the station.

Fox News said police did not confirm that the video circulating on social media shows the attack on the 49-year-old bus driver. Police instead directed the cable news network to the "initial narrative" that two suspects were involved and added that the department "[does] not have any additional information," Fox News noted.

While the report on the attack from WBBM-TV doesn't include the video circulating on social media, either, it does show what appears to be a bus driver holding a cloth or towel on the side of his face and walking into an ambulance — and the victim looks similar to the apparent driver the mob attacked in the cellphone video.

Anything else?

Police told WGN-TV at least 20 juveniles were taken into custody Saturday night amid violent chaos in the Loop that forced authorities to use crowd control measures. In addition to the attack on the bus driver, a 15-year-old was shot in the arm after bumping into a man, the station said.

The next day Mayor Lori Lightfoot was asked how she plans to curb violence in the Loop moving forward, WGN said.

“We are going to take significant, swift action to quell any issues,” Lightfoot replied, according to the station. “[Saturday night] there were a large number of children that were down at Millennium Park. We followed the protocols that we put in place from the summer of 2020. When it was time for them to leave the park, we made sure they left the park without incident.”

Here's more of what Lightfoot said:

Two males knocked out cold by same thug on busy Chicago street — and at least 5 females seem to respond by twerking in front of traffic

It's been quite a summer for Chicago.

This season a dozen cops turned their backs on far-left Mayor Lori Lightfoot after the murder of Officer Ella French at a traffic stop that Lightfoot blamed on guns, a 73-year-old Vietnam veteran died after carjackers repeatedly punched him in the head outside his favorite grocery store, fifth graders were reported to have access to condoms in elementary schools this year, and a gang dragged a couple from their car and shot them at point-blank range in front of their baby .

That doesn't begin to scratch the surface — and now the Windy City has more notoriety to add to its resume.

Now what?

Surveillance video caught action on the 400 block of State Street around 1:30 a.m. Saturday showing a man in a green shirt and dark shorts being chased and confronted by at least two other men.

It isn't clear what precipitated the incident, but the pair take turns pushing and punching the man, who at times appears to square up in preparation for a fight — but at other times attempts to run off.

It's no use, though. One of his pursuers — a much taller man wearing a blue baseball cap and dark mask over his mouth and nose — body slams the man.

Seconds later he delivers a left cross at the man's head, and the victim collapses in the middle of the street.

It gets worse

A number of females — about five, roughly — appear to react to the excitement by twerking in a traffic lane just feet away while vehicles wait for their spectacle to end.

Then the same wannabe boxer who knocked out the man moments earlier spots another man — seemingly unconnected to whatever transpired with the first victim — crossing State Street.

And with that, he comes up behind the man crossing the street and wallops him with a left-handed sucker punch to the head.

The second victim also collapses on the street, apparently out cold.

Crowds gathered around each victim, but most of them apparently only in an effort to steal from them rather than to render aid or end the violence.

One guy even stole the second victim's shoes:

The first victim actually got up from the street and tried fighting back, and the seemingly much worse off second victim staggered toward the sidewalk, but they were both attacked again and ended up like this:

Here's the clip:

What happened in the aftermath?

A police spokesperson told CWB Chicago the man in the green shirt suffered abrasions to his face and refused medical attention. The station added that the 40-year-old man who was sucker-punched was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and his condition wasn't known.

Police added to CWB Chicago that both men were robbed and that no arrests have been made.

VIDEO: Chicago gang drags couple from car and shoots them at point-blank range in front of their baby

A violent gang dragged a Chicago-area couple out of their car on Saturday night and shot them both.

The male victim died from his injuries, and the female victim is reportedly in critical condition at an area hospital.

The incident took place in Chicago's Humboldt Park as the family was reportedly leaving the city's 43rd annual Puerto Rican People's Day Parade.

What are the details?

Video footage captured the moment the gang swarmed the couple's vehicle.

According to WBBM-TV, the incident unfolded as the two adults and child were leaving the parade festivities and heading westbound.

"Shots rang out, people scattered, and then a man pulled out a gun and shot two people outside the sport-utility vehicle," the station reported. "The video showed him firing the rapid shots and then running away."

The male victim — identified as 24-year-old Gyovanny Arzuaga — reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to the back and hand, along with a graze wound to the head, before succumbing to his injuries. He was reportedly shot at point-blank range.

The station identified the female victim — who sustained gunshots to the neck — as Yasmin Perez. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

All suspects fled the scene, and no one has been taken into custody in connection to the murders.

The child, whose age remains unknown at the time of this reporting, was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

A GoFundMe page to benefit the family has received more than $12,000 in donations at the time of this reporting.

The page reads:

On June 19th, 2021, Gyovanny Arzuaga and Yasmin Perez were celebrating at the Puerto Rican Day Parade in Humboldt Park when they were both tragically shot. Gyo unfortunately passed away after arriving to the hospital and Yasmin is in critical condition after sustaining a gunshot wound to the neck. Please keep them, their children, and their families in your thoughts and prayers during this time. This fundraiser is to cover funeral service costs for Gyo's family and medical bills for Yasmin's family.

Over the weekend, WGN-TV reported that community activist Donovan Price said that it was a "miracle" that the bullets didn't hit the baby.

"The child is going to be traumatized," Price added.

On Monday, CWBChicago shared what is believed to be the last photo of the male victim — who it also identified as Gyovanny Arzuaga — and the child.

Chicago cops called out by columnist for letting women twerk on top of police vehicle, encouraging 'mayhem' in the streets

A Chicago Sun-Times columnist called out city police for letting a trio of women twerk on top of a police vehicle as seen in a viral cellphone video — and for encouraging "mayhem" in the streets.

Looks like the Chicago Police Department's emphasis on "positive community interactions" is taking off! Great to se… https://t.co/2Nwz35vO5u

— CWBChicago (@CWBChicago) 1622922467.0

What are the details?

Mary Mitchell indicated in her piece that the notorious clip has received more than a million views and that it seems to be part of "some trend."

She recalled another viral moment a few years back when a pair of women were caught on video twerking atop a police car in Rochester, New York.

Rochester. NY. Let's get it. 🌚 https://t.co/bsty28lYL5

— Chris Barber (@FollowZeLeader) 1488033674.0

Rochester Police Chief Michael L. Ciminelli told TheBlaze in a statement after the 2017 incident that the clip portrayed "an inappropriate and unacceptable image for the Rochester Police Department" and that the issue was "addressed."

Late last month, St. Louis officials and residents were left disgusted by videos showing a group of late-night revelers jumping on top of a police car with an officer inside.

Videos show people dancing on top of St. Louis police car on Washington Avenueyoutu.be

Mitchell indeed noted that twerking on top of police vehicles has happened in Jackson, Mississippi, St. Louis, Seattle, and Miami Beach — "and is largely viewed as an offensive act against police."

More from her piece:

What makes the Chicago incident so interesting is the police SUV was slowly rolling down the street as if whoever was driving was in a parade.

A spokesman for the Chicago Police Department said the incident is under investigation.

Frankly, if allowing young women to climb onto a police cruiser and gyrate is part of the new community policing strategy, the police must go back to the drawing board.

Because if one of the women had fallen off the SUV and been run over, not only would the city be facing a huge lawsuit, but there is a real possibility that the partiers would have turned violent.

It is also disconcerting that residents in some neighborhoods, like Park Manor on the South Side, have been recently under siege by noise, loud music and inappropriate behavior.

A Chicago resident told Mitchell in an email that "hundreds of cars, trucks and motor vehicles" had been "parading down our streets until 4 a.m. playing loud music, using profanity, and displaying all types of anti-social behavior such as urinating in bushes ..."

"I hope we can get some attention brought to this situation that is affecting the quality of life of our residents," resident Niena Feme added to Mitchell. "We are stakeholders; we pay mortgages, taxes and are expected to maintain our properties. Yet we cannot enjoy a level of peace that any community would desire."

Mitchell agreed, noting that "Chicagoans, especially those living on the South and West sides, live with more lawless behavior than I've ever seen."

But she added that it's no help when police seem to "facilitate the mayhem."

Anything else?

TheBlaze has frequently reported on what does indeed appear to be a trend regarding police across America enduring a growing level of bolder and bolder abuse from citizens.

Such as the viral clip of people dumping buckets of water on New York City police officers — and cops having little choice but to simply walk away as they're doused over and over:

Sure, the aforementioned incidents may not include much if any physical harm, but when people realize there are little if any consequences for abusing police in other ways, how long will it be before it gets boring and they resort to real violence?

Watch: Bodycam footage shows shootout that left suspect and 2 Chicago police officers wounded

Chicago's Civilian Office of Police Accountability released video footage of a police-involved shooting from last month, which began with a suspect opening fire shortly after being approached by a Chicago police officer.

Two officers and the suspect ended up with gunshot wounds in the incident, but all survived.

What are the details?

COPA released several videos related to the incident, but the best view of what happened when the shooting began came from the body camera of the officer the suspect is seen shooting.

That footage shows the officer jumping out of his squad car to approach the suspect, whom other officers had been following on foot and pleading for him to drop his gun, according to an earlier video.

"Show me your hands...get your hands out of your pocket," the officer says upon confronting the male suspect. The officer has his weapon drawn and his arm extended, but did not aim the service weapon at the suspect.

"Dude, stop!" the officer then says. "Get your hands up!"

The suspect finally responds, "What? What?" then immediately pulls out a handgun and shoots the officer.

Both the officer and the suspect can be heard screaming in anguish, and a second officer is seen on the ground after also being struck by gunfire.

WBBM-TV reported that the incident occurred at around 7:19 a.m. on Sunday, May 16, after officers responded to a report of gunfire and "saw an armed suspect."

The suspect has been identified as Bruce Lua, 45, who was shot in the leg during the incident. He now faces several charges, including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery against a peace officer, and a felony weapons charge, according to the arrest report.

WGN-TV reported that "police later revealed that one officer was shot in the collarbone and shoulder and another officer was shot in the hand" during the incident.

Both officers and Lua were hospitalized for their injuries, and all have since recovered.

What are the details?

Information on the incident is scant. It's not clear where or on what date the nighttime clip was recorded. What is clear is that the vehicle's number is 8289, three women are on its hood and roof, and a crowd of excited onlookers follow the moving vehicle on foot while recording cellphone video of the incident.

"The Chicago Police Department is aware of a video that surfaced on social media showing several females riding on a marked squad car," Deputy Director Tom Ahern said in a statement, WFLD-TV reported.

What did observers have to say?

Reactions to the clip on Twitter seemed mixed. While the women's behavior clearly is unacceptable to some observers, others have no problem with it — and even chided detractors:

  • "Until white people start treating them like human beings instead of animals..until you start respecting them and seeing their dignity and worth...you will continue to get the results you're getting," one commenter said.
  • Another user replied similarly: "1. Was the vehicle stolen? 2. Did anyone get arrested or hurt? 3. NOTHING to see here[;] the weather was nice and everyone had a great time."
  • "Yeah, how f***ing embarrassing that after literal centuries of police brutality & oppression, black people were allowed to dance in front of [police] and even delay their patrol by a few seconds," another commenter observed sarcastically. "It was much less embarrassing when police just shot them in the face every day."

Others disagreed, saying such behavior is indicative of the brazen mistreatment of and disrespect for police some people have demonstrated of late:

  • "If you don't see anything wrong with this video, it shows just how sick our society has become," one commenter wrote. "The person in the squad car needs to disciplined. This shows very little and poor respect for everyone involved."
  • "Some of us consider normalizing the decline of society to be a problem," another user said.
  • "To the Chicago PD HQ, why in the name of God are you allowing this to happen???" another commenter asked.

A trend afoot?

Just a little over a week ago, St. Louis officials and residents were left disgusted by videos showing a group of late-night revelers jumping on top of a police car with an officer inside.

It appears police across America have been facing a growing level of abuse as citizens doling it out are getting bolder and bolder about it.

Horowitz: Leftist cities create haven for guns … in the hands of criminals

It's not just conservative counties pushing for Second Amendment "sanctuaries." Leftist-controlled cities have become a haven for guns with de facto open and concealed carry without the requirement of a permit ... so long as the owner has a criminal record, assaults people with the gun, and is of the right ilk.

Crime has skyrocketed in my part of Baltimore County, with carjackings and muggings a daily occurrence within blocks of where I live. I told my wife that I should carry a gun in my holster despite the laws on the books in Maryland because all the criminals holding people up with guns never seem to serve a day in jail, despite their criminal records. Thus, indeed there is a right to carry in the state of Maryland.

"Yes, but not for people like you, honey," my wife said. "You'll get in big trouble if you're caught defending yourself with a gun."

With skyrocketing homicide rates throughout the country, White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked on Monday if there was a crime problem in America.

"Well, I would say certainly there is a guns problem, and that's something the President would say," Psaki replied.

It's funny because I have a lot of guns and I never harm people with them. Nor do any of my friends. America's revolution of right-to-carry laws (and loosening of gun laws in general) began in the '90s, coinciding perfectly with the miraculous decline in violent crime. Yet, in recent years, crime has skyrocketed, especially in the places with the strictest gun laws. What gives?

Indeed, we don't have a gun problem, we have a violent criminal problem because criminals are no longer kept behind bars, particularly those who commit violence with guns. Exhibit A is the city of Chicago.

One would think with the way Democrats talk about guns, they would lock someone up for life if they were caught assaulting someone with a gun. Yet, just in January of this year, CWB Chicago, a local news outlet that focuses on crime, chronicled five cases of gun felons committing murder while out on bail for serious felony charges.

In the last case, Demetris Johnson, who had a criminal record dating back to 2011 when he was arrested but not convicted for murder, had numerous gun felony charges when he eventually was arrested for murder on Jan. 27 of this year. On his last gun charge, despite his criminal record and being charged Class X armed habitual criminal, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon with a previous gun conviction, and failure to register as a gun offender, Johnson was released on just $3,000 bail.

After failing to show up for his next court date, the original judge ordered him held without bail, but another judge allowed him to be released on electronic monitoring after posting just $20,000 bond. Not surprisingly he failed to show up to his next court date on Oct. 6, 2020, but was released again by Judge Joan O'Brien on electronic monitoring! He was arrested for murder less than four months later.

That, in a nutshell, is why Chicago is the way it is today. Leftist judges and politicians hate incarceration more than they disdain guns, including guns that are actually discharged against innocent people. Hence, we have a major criminal problem, not a gun problem.

The de-incarceration movement is trying to convince the public that "supervised release" and ankle bracelets are as good as jail, but as we have seen over and over again, they never deter a committed career violent criminal. An understaffed Chicago police force must now monitor 94 accused murderers, 261 people convicted of two or more felonies, 534 people charged as felons in possession of a weapon, and 569 individuals who have been accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon all on ankle monitors.

Just four years ago, there were only 31 homicide suspects out pre-trial on ankle monitors, according to a new report from the Chicago Tribune. The number of people out on the streets either felony weapon possession is up more than five-fold over the past four years.

What this all means is that at the same time Chicago politicians rail against law-abiding gun owners, they are releasing the people responsible for all the gun violence even after catching them! And what happens when they violate the terms of the pre-trial release or post-conviction parole — even when caught on the GPS tracking?

There is a stigma against reincarcerating anyone just like there was a stigma against releasing criminals last generation. And as we've learned the hard way, these are not "non-violent, low-level" criminals.

CWB Chicago got a hold of an email correspondence with city officials revealing that they not only conspired to reduce the jail population at all costs, but to refrain from criticizing each other when one judge would release a criminal who inevitably reoffended.

Chicago at its finest: A group of high-ranking public officials decide to change bond policies and reduce the jail population.

They also agree not to criticize each other on the issue — like, say, if the policies generate unfavorable results. pic.twitter.com/5eCOns1LDO
— CWBChicago (@CWBChicago) May 27, 2021

The "criminal justice reform" movement was never about fixing the criminal justice system. It was always about de-incarceration of the most violent criminals, which now includes murderers and gun felons. After all, possessing a gun is only considered a high-level crime when it's done by a law-abiding citizen for self-defense.
