Dan Bongino says the left is 'obsessed' with talking to children about sex

Conservative commentator Dan Bongino has asserted that liberals are "obsessed" with speaking to children about sex.

"Libs are obsessed with talking to your kids about sex, having sex, how to have sex, their sex lives, others’ sex lives, straight sex, gay sex, multiple sex partners, young people having sex, sex 'changes,' and worse. If this doesn't disturb you, then you're not paying attention." Bongino tweeted.

"This tweet is driving the libs insane. I think you know why," he added in another post.

— Dan Bongino (@Dan Bongino) 1686052613

Novelist Stephen King replied to Bongino by saying, "You used the word 10 times in one sentence. Sounds like you're the one who's obsessed."

"Truth hurts. That's why he writes fiction," Bongino responded.

“Truth hurts. That’s why he writes fiction.”
— Dan Bongino (@Dan Bongino) 1686041180

Bongino has blasted King in the past, tweeting comments such as, "Does your momma tell people her kid perished in a fire rather than acknowledge your sorry existence? After spawning you, is she horrified? Does that pain fuel your perverted stories?"

Many Americans are disturbed by the left's relentless crusade to foist LGBT ideology on children through books, drag events, children's shows, and in the classroom. Debate also continues to rage over whether gender-transition measures such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries should be permitted for minors.

"That the left is absolutely obsessed with discussing sex with your kids, says EVERYTHING you need to know. Sick," Bongino tweeted last week.

"Libs cannot stop obsessing over talking about sex to your kids. It’s the freakiest thing I've ever seen. They're passionate about it. They obsess over it daily. It's not an accident either. It's all part of their plan," he tweeted.

'If there's a Hell, I'm sure you'll be in it': Dan Bongino blasts Adam Schiff as 'a disgusting piece of garbage' whose 'family should renounce any relationship to him'

Conservative commentator Dan Bongino lambasted Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California, describing him as a "piece of human waste" while asserting that the congressman's relatives should renounce their relationship with him.

"This piece of human waste will do, or say, anything to abuse his power and burn this country to the ground. He's absolute garbage and he has zero dignity. People like him make the world an ugly place. He's a slob who’s family should renounce any relationship to him," Bongino wrote when retweeting a post in which the congressman discussed special counsel John Durham's report regarding the Trump-Russia investigation.

“This piece of human waste will do, or say, anything to abuse his power and burn this country to the ground. He’s absolute garbage and he has zero dignity. "The Durham investigation was flawed from the start. It began for a political purpose - to satisfy Trump. It resulted in two spectacular failures at trial. And ended with nothing to show for four years of effort. Bottom line: FBI had a good reason to investigate - Durham didn't," a Schiff tweet reads.

"You're a disgusting piece of garbage, and an embarrassment to this country," Bongino wrote to Schiff. "No sane person takes you seriously. The damage you've done to this country is incalculable. If there's a Hell, I'm sure you'll be in it."

“@RepAdamSchiff You’re a disgusting piece of garbage, and an embarrassment to this country. No sane person takes you seriously. The damage you’ve done to this country is incalculable. If there’s a Hell, I’m sure you’ll be in it.”
— Adam Schiff (@Adam Schiff) 1684270454

Schiff announced earlier this year that he is running for U.S. Senate.

Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida has put forward a resolution to oust Schiff from the House.

"Adam Schiff lied to the American people. He used his position on House Intelligence to push a lie that cost American taxpayers millions of dollars and abused the trust placed in him as Chairman. He is a dishonor to the House of Representatives," Luna said, according to a press release. "The Durham Report makes clear that the Russian Collusion was a lie from day one and Schiff knowingly used his position in an attempt to divide our country."

'Does your momma tell people her kid perished in a fire rather than acknowledge your sorry existence?' Dan Bongino unloads on Stephen King in Twitter back-and-forth

Popular conservative commentator Dan Bongino has been unleashing attacks against renowned writer Stephen King in response to the novelist's jabs about Bongino's career.

Each day, Bongino posts a tweet describing President Joe Biden as "the WORST president in US history."

King responded to Bongino's May 1 post by tweeting, "And you're out of a job at Fox. Biden still has his."

"Yeah dude, working six days a week, doing a top-ten podcast, a nationally syndicated radio show, managing billion dollar tech investments, and finishing off another book made me reevaluate my work schedule. But keep b****ing and moaning like a chump on Twitter while we use you for comedy relief in show material. #Dip****," Bongino fired back.

Last month, Bongino announced that he would no longer be doing his weekly show on the Fox News Channel because he and the company had been unable to come to terms regarding an extension.

“Yeah dude, working six days a week, doing a top-ten podcast, a nationally syndicated radio show, managing billion dollar tech investments, and finishing off another book made me reevaluate my work schedule. But keep bitching and moaning like a chump on Twitter while we use you…”
— Dan Bongino (@Dan Bongino) 1682952628

But the Twitter back-and-forth between King and Bongino did not end there.

"Today is May 7th, and Joe Biden is the WORST president in US history," Bongino tweeted on Sunday.

King replied, "At least he has a job."

"Yeah, you're right douchebag, unemployment has been rough for me. I've tried to cope each morning at 11a on my show (job?) with my millions of viewers. And then, I cry a lot on hundreds of radio stations nationwide on my other show (job?) from 12-3p while you're eating Ben & Jerry's, living off of your former reputation as a non-a**hole. Now that I've humiliated your dumb a** again, you can go sit down in the corner and cry those delicious liberal tears," Bongino responded.

“Yeah, you’re right douchebag, unemployment has been rough for me. I’ve tried to cope each morning at 11a on my show (job?) with my millions of viewers. "Wah-wah-wah," King replied.

"Keep crying you chump. Does your momma tell people her kid perished in a fire rather than acknowledge your sorry existence? After spawning you, is she horrified? Does that pain fuel your perverted stories?" Bongino tweeted.

On Wednesday, King responded to a tweet in which Bongino described the president as "a disgrace to humankind" and "an embarrassment to the human race in every respect."

"Yes. But he's got a real job, not a podcast," King tweeted.

"Yeah, you're right. Millions of listeners a day on a podcast while you're watching porn in your momma's basement yearning for the days that people actually gave a s*** about your dumb a**. Nice comeback dip****. Get a job loser," Bongino wrote in response.

“@StephenKing Yeah, you’re right. Millions of listeners a day on a podcast while you’re watching porn in your momma’s basement yearning for the days that people actually gave a shit about your dumb ass. Nice comeback dipshit. Get a job loser.”

"Please tag @StephenKing in all future tweets about Biden. He loves it," Bongino tweeted on Thursday.

VIDEO: Violent transgender activists allegedly assault dad

The Vancouver Police Department is investigating after activist Chris Elston, also known as "Billboard Chris," says he was assaulted Friday at a trans-rights rally.

"The most violent group in the western world are transgender activists," Elston tweeted Saturday.
"Here I am getting assaulted in the presence of dozens of police who do nothing," Elston said.

"We have launched an investigation into an incident that occurred at yesterday’s trans-rights rally at Grandview Park. We support everyone’s right to peacefully assemble and protest, but we will also hold people accountable for acts of violence and criminal behaviour," the Vancouver Police Department said Saturday afternoon in a tweet that is closed for comment.

"I'll believe them when I see results," Elston said Saturday in a tweet. "Hopefully they conduct an internal investigation into the conduct of their own officers," he added. According to Elston, officers did too little to intervene.

"Billboard Chris" is an activist father based in Canada who opposes surgical and chemical approaches to treating gender dysphoria in children. He reportedly travels across North America wearing sandwich board signs succinctly summarizing his position. He has been interviewed on news and opinion programs including Fox News Channel's "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

One video of Friday's incident in Vancouver shows Elston, already with what appears to be an open cut on the bridge of his nose from an earlier assault in the public park. That video shows a group surrounding him, chanting "f*** you." Police officers are seen standing by as the swarm quickly grows violent.

The video shows one chanting protester with an orange umbrella and a rainbow flag, standing within inches of Elston, directly behind him. As Elston turns, his elbow appears to graze the protester's fluffy coat collar and Elston appears to place his hand lightly on the protester's collar as he continues turning on the spot.

The video shows the protester immediately go for Elston's neck with what appears to be an attempt at a choking type hold. A scuffle ensues as Elston pulls back from the hold, then pushes the protester away, and tumbles toward the group of officers. As Elston creates some distance between himself and the protester group, one female officer among the several officers in view in the footage, appears to be smiling or chuckling.

"I need to sue the VPD. This is obscene," Elston also tweeted.

The first assault at the Vancouver location occurred "within seconds" of his arrival, Elston said, adding that he had called 911 for assistance. According to Elston, the female officer — who appears to be the same officer smiling during the later assault described above — initially suggested Elston might have cut his own nose.

"People can do these things, hurt themselves on purpose ... you provided me no evidence," the officer said, before seeing video of the first assault.

After seeing the video, the officer agrees to "have a conversation" with the people who allegedly first assaulted Elston, "to see what they say."

“After my first assault, which occurred within seconds of my arrival, I called 911 for police.

This officer arrived quickly but stayed in her car, so I walked over.

She told me maybe I cut my own nose!

More farcical policing ensued.”

Woke hockey reporter suggests NHL player who refused to wear LGBTQ colors should return to Russia, fight Ukraine: 'Go back where you feel more comfortable'

E.J. Hradek, senior reporter for the NHL Network, suggested during a Wednesday broadcast that Philadelphia Flyers player Ivan Provorov should return to Russia and even fight Ukraine after refusing to wear LGBTQ colors during a pregame warm-up this week for religious reasons.

What's the background?

Provorov declined to skate before Tuesday's "Pride Night" game since his teammates were wearing rainbow colors for their warm-up, ESPN reported. The 26-year-old defenseman told reporters after the Flyers' 5-2 home win over the Anaheim Ducks that he intended "to stay true to myself and my religion," the sports network said.

"I respect everyone," he told reporters, adding that he's Russian Orthodox. "I respect everybody's choices."

“#Flyers Ivan Provorov on his Pride Night pregame boycott :
“My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion.””
— Dan Gelston (@Dan Gelston) 1674015385

What did Hradek have to say about Provorov?

During an "NHL Now!" broadcast, Hradek had a few ideas about what Provorov could do if he doesn't want to take woke marching orders here in the U.S., including returning to Russia.

“Ivan Provorov can get on a plane any day he wants and go back to a place where he feels more comfortable, take less money, and get on with his life that way if it’s that problematic for him,” Hradek said.

The NHL Network reporter noted that Provorov "has been in North America for a long time" after having played two seasons in Manitoba, Canada, in the Western Hockey League and now playing in his seventh season for the Flyers.

“If this is that much of a problem for him to maybe assimilate into his group of teammates and in the community and here in this country, that’s okay — listen, you can feel any way you want. But the beauty is, if it bothers you that much, there’s always a chance to leave. Go back where you feel more comfortable," Hradek continued, before suggesting that Provorov join in the Russian war against Ukraine. "I understand there’s a conflict of sorts going on over there; maybe get involved.”

“@ClayTravis”
— TJ (@TJ) 1674087318

OutKick said it reached out to the National Hockey League for comment regarding Hradek’s statements about Provorov but didn't hear back.

How are folks reacting?

A number of Twitter commenters have more or less declared war against Hradek and his ideas. Some examples:

 • "'Assimilate' is a terrible choice of words. No one should be forced into wearing gay pride gear. Sounds a bit authoritarian, no?" one user said. "Coming from someone who is all for gay marriage."
 • "You are such a douche for criticizing someone for sticking by their beliefs," another commenter said. "It’s called being honorable; you should try it sometime."
 • "Telling him to go back if he can’t assimilate into the USA? Do you feel same about those who come to the USA but never learn English? Should they go back to their county of origin?" another user wondered.
 • "The minute you punish/cancel those of differing viewpoints, you lose all credibility because when you take that step, it [shows] that your idea/concept is failing, and you can only 'win' by force," another commenter said.
 • "Yes...berate others until they behave how you want. They can't have an opinion. That's the leftist way," another user sarcastically pointed out.

Anything else?

ESPN writer Greg Wyshynski — who penned the sports network's initial story about the controversy and also blasted Provorov on Twitter — wrote a follow-up piece about the NHL's "social activism partner" You Can Play, which wants to "work with" Provorov after he "negatively impacted" Pride Night.

You Can Play COO Kurt Weaver told ESPN he's disappointed by how the Flyers and coach John Tortorella handled Provorov's refusal to wear the LGBTQ colors. Tortorella said he didn't consider benching Provorov and respected his personal beliefs.

"The concept of 'team' can mean a lot of things. I think more coaches have to ask what that cohesion of a team means to them," Weaver told the sports network. "At what point does a decision like this that a player wants to make cross over into basically not showing up for your job? I think [Tortorella] did what a coach needs to do, which is support his player's decision. But I would hope that, behind the scenes, there's some more direct conversations around what it means to be a teammate."

Weaver also weighed in on Provorov's faith as his reason for not visibly supporting the LGBTQ community.

"Players who do this sort of thing have a very short perspective on what it means. For me, religion is about charity and inclusion," Weaver added to ESPN. "This wasn't just about a player and a jersey on a patch of ice. What else was affected by this? Visibility and proximity is what breeds understanding and inclusion, and those things were negatively impacted by this. It's disappointing to see that's the outcome from this."

NHL player, citing his faith, doesn't warm up with team wearing LGBTQ colors before 'Pride Night' game. ESPN writer who covered controversy bashes player on Twitter.

Philadelphia Flyers player Ivan Provorov, citing his religious beliefs, refused to skate before Tuesday's "Pride Night" game since his teammates were wearing LBGTQ colors for their warm-up, ESPN reported.

The 26-year-old defenseman told reporters after the Flyers' 5-2 home win over the Anaheim Ducks that he intended "to stay true to myself and my religion," the sports network said.

Provorov said he is Russian Orthodox.

"I respect everyone," he added to reporters. "I respect everybody's choices."

— Dan Gelston (@Dan Gelston) 1674015385

The Flyers wore rainbow colors on their warm-up jerseys and used sticks with rainbow tape, which ESPN said are being auctioned by Flyers Charities with proceeds going toward the team's "efforts to grow the game in diverse communities."

Provorov was the only Flyers player who didn't have a jersey or a stick up for auction after the game, the sports network added.

Flyers coach John Tortorella said he didn't consider benching Provorov for not taking part in the warm-up, ESPN reported: "With Provy, he's being true to himself and to his religion. This has to do with his belief and his religion. It's one thing I respect about Provy: He's always true to himself. And so that's where we're at with that."

ESPN writer who penned story bashes Provorov on Twitter

The author of the ESPN story cited above — Greg Wyshynski, senior NHL writer for the sports network — exercised a fairly even hand in his article, but he blasted Provorov on Twitter:

“Ivan Provorov is the only @NHLFlyers player not to have a Pride jersey up for postgame auction.

The sale of pregame jerseys and rainbow sticks benefit Flyers Charities and efforts to grow the game in diverse communities.

Provorov owes them a donation.

https://t.co/ODxpexrPto”
— Greg Wyshynski (@Greg Wyshynski) 1674013116

"Ivan Provorov is the only @NHLFlyers player not to have a Pride jersey up for postgame auction," Wyshynski tweeted. "The sale of pregame jerseys and rainbow sticks benefit Flyers Charities and efforts to grow the game in diverse communities. Provorov owes them a donation."

Responding to a Twitter user who declared Provorov doesn't owe "s**t" to Flyers Charities for holding to "his belief," Wyshynski shot back: "He literally refused to participate in a charity fundraising event for his team. This isn't skipping Pride because he refused to wave from a float. He does, in fact, owe them s**t."

Wyshynski wasn't done:

“Of course, Ivan Provorov is more than happy to play pregame dress-up when it does align with his belief system.”
— Greg Wyshynski (@Greg Wyshynski) 1674014200

Wyshynski also issued a message to "all the homophobes" taking shots at him on Twitter:

“Quick blanket statement to all the homophobes and “what-abouts” in my mentions tonight:

1. I’m 100% not going to debate you on Twitter.
2. I’ve probably already muted you.
3. Don’t take selfies while driving, let alone while wearing those sunglasses.”
— Greg Wyshynski (@Greg Wyshynski) 1674015942

Wyshynski wasn't alone

As you might guess, Wyshynski wasn't the only sports media figure to get personal undergarments in a wad over the situation:

“Ivan Provorov was allowed to play in a game for the Philadelphia Flyers - the organization that was the first to say that you will be removed from the arena if you utter a homophobic slur - after refusing to wear a Pride logo for warm ups.

What an absolute disgrace.”
— Steph Driver (@Steph Driver) 1674009978
“the Flyers, like every team in the NHL, have LGBTQ+ identifying fans. Ivan Provorov just told them all that he doesn’t think they belong in hockey. disgusting.”
— Mike Stephens (@Mike Stephens) 1674009920
“Why did the Flyers let Ivan Provorov play? 🤔”
— Julian McKenzie (@Julian McKenzie) 1674011104

Anything else?

The Flyers, like many professional sports franchises, are heavy supporters of the LGBTQ community and events like "Pride Night."

They're woke in other ways, too.

Readers of TheBlaze may recall that the Flyers in 2019 removed their Kate Smith statue outside the Wells Fargo Center over reports the late vocalist sang racially insensitive songs in the early 1930s.

Smith had been a Flyers legend for singing "God Bless America" before playoff games in the early 1970s when the team won its only Stanley Cup trophies — but in addition to removing her statue, the Flyers also said Smith's "God Bless America" no longer would be played at games and was erased from its library.

Members of Smith's family were outraged at the Flyers for the move and said Smith was not a racist. In fact, Smith told millions back in the day that "race hatreds" must be "exterminated," and she also pioneered racial integration on television.

Pittsburgh Steelers panned for possibly mocking Damar Hamlin's recent medical emergency

NFL fans and casual followers alike have taken to social media to criticize what they perceived to be an attempt from the Pittsburgh Steelers to mock a serious medical emergency which occurred during an NFL game a week ago.

Last Monday, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, just 24 years old, went into cardiac arrest after taking a hard hit to the chest during a primetime Monday Night Football match-up against the Cincinnati Bengals, who lead the AFC North division. The moments following Hamlin's collapse were truly harrowing. Hamlin went into such medical distress that officials had to perform CPR on him on the field, and players from both teams soon began crying. The game had to be temporarily suspended and then ultimately canceled.

Fortunately, Hamlin seems to have since made a remarkable recovery. Reports indicate that he has been discharged from the hospital, where he has been tweeting robustly for the past three days. When the Bills took on the New England Patriots on Sunday, Hamlin tweeted, "GameDay.. Nothing I Want More Than To Be Running Out That Tunnel With My Brothers. God Using Me In A Different Way Today. Tell Someone You Love Them Today!"

“GameDay.. Nothing I Want More Than To Be Running Out That Tunnel With My Brothers. God Using Me In A Different Way Today. Tell Someone You Love Them Today! 🫶🏾3️⃣ let’s go @BuffaloBills ❤️💙”
— 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐧 (@𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐧) 1673194640

Fans, players, sports pundits, and people of good will everywhere have continued to pray fervently for Hamlin's recovery. In a truly moving moment before their game Sunday afternoon, the Steelers and their bitter rivals, the Cleveland Browns, gathered at midfield and knelt in solemn prayer for Hamlin.

“Prayers up 🙏

#LoveForDamar”
— Pittsburgh Steelers (@Pittsburgh Steelers) 1673200154

However, late in the fourth quarter, the Steelers seemed to belie that show of solidarity for Hamlin. At the very least, they performed an ill-timed celebration that seemed to mock Hamlin's medical emergency. With 30 seconds left in the game and Pittsburgh up two touchdowns, Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith managed to sack Browns QB Deshaun Watson for more than ten yards. After he made the hit, Highsmith laid prostrate on the ground, and soon afterwards, an unidentified teammate walked up to him and pretended to perform CPR, the same life-saving medical intervention Hamlin received only a few days before.

“Steelers players did a mock CPR celebration after their sack of Deshaun Watson.”
— Dan Zaksheske (@Dan Zaksheske) 1673212755

Despite the appearance of poor sportsmanship, several people and outlets, including Blitzburgh, which covers the Steelers extensively, noted that the team regularly performs the CPR celebration on the field and argued that the Highsmith incident on Sunday was just "bad timing" and likely unrelated to Hamlin.

“Fans who haven’t watched much of the Steelers haven’t seen them do the CPR celebration before, but think it was bad timing. Steelers do it all the time prior to Hamlin’s situation. They weren’t intending to mock Damar Hamlin whatsoever. #Steelers #NFL”
— Blitzburgh (@Blitzburgh) 1673227999

After the game, Highsmith, a self-described "Follower of Jesus Christ," tweeted out a scripture verse to indicate he was praying for Hamlin.

"Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!" wrote Highsmith, quoting from Psalm 133 and including the picture of the Steelers and Browns united in prayer.

Still, many fans have stated that they have now lost much of their respect for the Steelers organization.

"Steelers defense celebrated a sack by performing CPR. Of all weeks… not a great look. Yikes," wrote Gunz of "The Gunz Show."

Coleman Bentley of Golf Digest wrote, "[T]o the surprise of absolutely no one the Pittsburgh Steelers locked up the NFL's number-one classless seed on Sunday."

Others have also characterized the move "classless," while NFL Memes called it "literally the WORST possible sack celebration this week."

Both the Steelers and the Browns had already been eliminated from playoff contention before Sunday's game even began, so the Steelers' 28-14 win was just for bragging rights. Meanwhile, Hamlin's Bills defeated the Patriots 35-23 and will face the Miami Dolphins in a Wild Card game on January 15. The winner of that game will advance to the divisional round of the playoffs.

Washington Post blasted for UVA shooting story's initial headline saying suspected gunman 'had troubled childhood, but then flourished'

The Washington Post was blasted on social media Monday over the initial headline of a University of Virginia shooting story that said the suspected gunman — accused of fatally shooting three players on the school's football team and wounding two other students — had a "troubled childhood, but then flourished."

“This is a real headline from the Washington Post”
— TheBlaze (@TheBlaze) 1668443234

The headline appeared to have been changed sometime after 12:10 p.m. Monday to read, "Suspected U-Va. gunman was scrutinized by threat assessment team for weapon, police say."

The Post's story indicated it was updated at 12:15 p.m. as well as at 1:15 p.m., but there are no notes in the story describing what was updated.

The Post on Monday told TheBlaze in a statement that "the headline was changed following the press conference when new information was learned. This is a developing story."

'You've gotta be kidding'

A number of folks on Twitter were none too pleased with the wording of the Post's original headline, which described suspect Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. as having "flourished" after going through a "troubled childhood."

Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips tweeted, "Just an unbelievable headline from the Washington Post about the mass shooter at UVA. You've gotta be kidding ..."

Rob Eno, media critic for BlazeTV, mocked the Post by saying that "democracy also dies when you hide former headlines without even [an] editors note ... To the rest of you, this is a textbook case of the media lying to you."

Others agreed:

 • "So yea whoever wrote this headline should be fired," one commenter said. "Didn’t realize flourishing meant murdering people. Washington Post at it again."
 • "Talk about a bizarre headline," another user reacted. "Is he gonna 'flourish' in prison?"

Jones — a former player on the school's football team — was taken into custody Monday following a manhunt of more than 13 hours after the shooting on the Charlottesville campus, the Associated Press reported. Jones was charged with three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of using a handgun in the commission of a felony, ESPN said.

The players who were fatally shot have been identified as junior receiver Lavel Davis Jr. of Dorchester, South Carolina, junior receiver Devin Chandler of Huntersville, North Carolina, and junior defensive end/linebacker D'Sean Perry of Miami, school President Jim Ryan said during a Monday news conference, ESPN said.

Ryan said two other unidentified students were shot and hospitalized, the sports network reported, adding that Ryan said one student was in good condition, and the other was in critical condition.

The shooting took place on a charter bus that had returned to campus after students attended a play in Washington, D.C., as part of a class field trip, Ryan said, according to ESPN.

Former University of Virginia football player suspected of fatally shooting 3 school football players, wounding two other students; suspect in custody after all-night manhunt

A former University of Virginia football player is suspected of fatally shooting three players on the school's football team and wounding two other students around 10:30 p.m. Sunday on the Charlottesville campus, ESPN reported.

What are the details?

Police confirmed the suspect is UVA student Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., a 22-year-old former football player.

The shooting took place on a charter bus that had returned to campus after students attended a play in Washington, D.C., as part of a class field trip, school President Jim Ryan said during a Monday news conference, according to ESPN.

In response, the school immediately issued a shelter-in-place order for all students and staff on campus and canceled Monday classes.

Police searched the campus extensively to locate the suspect but determined he had likely fled the immediate area.

Following the search, UVA lifted the shelter-in-place order at 10:33 a.m. on Monday. UVA Police Chief Timothy Longo Sr. stated that nearly 500 students were impacted by the order and forced to stay in the school's library and classrooms overnight.

Authorities noted that "a large police presence will remain."

Jones remained at large overnight and into the following morning. Police apprehended Jones on Monday afternoon and brought him into custody after a nearly 12-hour manhunt. According to authorities, Jones was arrested in Henrico County "without incident" just before 11 a.m.

At this time, authorities have not released a possible motive.

During a press conference on Monday morning – before Jones' arrest was confirmed – UVA President Jim Ryan stated, "Multiple law enforcement agencies are coordinating to find and apprehend him."

"As of writing, I am heartbroken to report the shooting has resulted in three fatalities; two additional victims were injured and are receiving medical care," Ryan added. "We are working with the families of the victims, and we will share additional details as soon as we are able."

Ryan identified the three deceased victims as D'Sean Perry, Lavel Davis Jr., and Devin Chandler. He did not release the identities of the two additional wounded victims, but he noted that one is in critical condition and the other expected to recover.

All of the deceased victims were UVA football players and former teammates of Jones.

Longo noted that Jones was involved in a previous hazing investigation and that he had made comments about possessing a gun.

Jones faces three charges of second-degree murder and three counts of using a handgun in the commission of a felony.

Republican US Senate candidate's name not on ballots distributed in Illinois county

Some early voters have already cast their ballots in Schuyler County, Illinois, despite Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kathy Salvi's name not being listed as a choice. Instead of Salvi's name, the name of her defeated primary opponent Peggy Hubbard is listed on the ballot as an option. Salvi won the seven-way Republican primary on June 28 by a significant margin.

Salvi, who seeks to unseat the incumbent Democrat Sen. Tammy Duckworth, is demanding accountability, claiming that the proposed remedial efforts do "not solve the most pressing problem of election integrity and transparency" and that voters have "been potentially disenfranchised." She noted that the issue was brought to her attention on October 11.

"Ballots drafted by the Schuyler County Board of Elections, and approved by the Illinois State Board of Elections, incorrectly listed one of my primary opponents as the Republican nominee for the United States Senate," said Salvi in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Salvi indicated that her campaign team took immediate action and worked with the Schuyler County state's attorney to rectify the error. They ultimately decided to sequester the hundreds of erroneous ballots that had been distributed.

Reportedly, 307 Schuyler County voters were sent the incorrect ballots. At least 45 voters returned their ballots by Wednesday. The incorrect ballots that have already been turned in will reportedly "be sequestered and processed separately."

The Salvi campaign questioned how both the county and state officials approved the incorrect ballots nearly three weeks away from Election Day.

John Fogarty Jr., general counsel to the Illinois Republican Party and advisory board member of the Election Assistance Commission, wrote to Schuyler County State's Attorney Emily Sullivan, noting that the Salvi campaign was "gravely concerned about this error."

In the 2020 presidential election, former President Donald Trump received 71% of the vote in Schuyler County, and the Republican Senate nominee, Mark Curran, took 63.7% of the vote.

WIND radio show host Dan Proft tweeted, "Sometimes it's incompetence. Sometimes it's corruption. Either way, it's Illinois. Be vigilant."

As vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, Duckworth, whose name was on the erroneous ballots, is closely aligned with the Democrats' national agenda.

Duckworth supports incentives for illegal immigration and voted against the declaration of a national emergency at the southern border. She is a pro-abortion advocate who supports statehood for the District of Columbia, significant restrictions on the Second Amendment, and tax increases.

In the 50-50 split Senate, Duckworth's vote is critical to Democrats' ability to pass laws such as the Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan. A November upset by Salvi may enable Republicans to preclude additional leftist maneuvers, such as the confirmation of Gigi Sohn as FCC commissioner.

Salvi's agenda, which stands in sharp contrast to Duckworth's, calls for American energy independence; smaller government with less inflationary spending; a secure southern border; empowering police to combat rising crime exacerbated by "radical, progressive prosecutors"; and restoring parental rights, particularly over education-related decisions.
