'Did you just think I was Joe Rogan?' Ex-ESPN anchor Sage Steele and Dana White have viral exchange over mistaken identity

'Did you just think I was Joe Rogan?' Ex-ESPN anchor Sage Steele and Dana White have viral exchange over mistaken identity

Former ESPN host Sage Steele momentarily mistook UFC President Dana White for a different "white bald guy" on her very first day of her return to the spotlight.

Steele, who announced her departure from ESPN in August 2023, left the company after a lawsuit that reportedly accused Disney and ESPN of retaliating against her for public statements she had made. Steele reportedly voiced opinions about Barack Obama and her employer's COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

"Having successfully settled my case with ESPN/Disney, I have decided to leave so I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely," she announced on X at the time.

Steele has since returned with a new podcast, "The Sage Steele Show," promising high-profile guests that included fight promoter White for the very first episode.

After discussing mainstream media, energy drinks, cancel culture, and more, Steele and White had a viral moment over mistaken identities.

"What's Joe Rogan's dream?" Steele asked.

"What's Joe Rogan's dream?" a confused White replied.

"Joe Rogan...Dana White. What's Dana White's dream?" Steele jokingly corrected.

"Did you just think I was Joe Rogan?" White, sipping an energy drink, suddenly realized.

"I totally did," Steele confessed.

"You just called me f**king Joe Rogan?! You thought I was f**king Joe Rogan!" White continued as he feigned outrage. "I was bald before Joe was ever bald!"

So what had happened was........ 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️😂 Love you @danawhite!!

#sagesteele #sagesteeleshow #danawhite
— (@)

Steele, attempting to explain her mistake, said that she got Rogan and White confused because they are "literally the only two I have the respect for because of how you freaking stood up and supported others."

The two then exchanged stories of mistaken identities, with White stating that he often gets confused for Rogan when fans approach him for pictures.

"Do you correct them?" Steele asked.

"No, I just let them go show everybody their Joe Rogan photo ... I just did a two-hour f**kin podcast I flew here from from [Las] Vegas and she thought she was interviewing Joe Rogan!" White jokingly reasserted.

White explained that he has even been confused for comedian Howie Mandel. The pair also recently had a viral moment of their own when White walked off the set of Mandel's podcast after just 30 seconds.

"All us white, bald guys look alike, so it makes sense," White sarcastically explained.

"I mean, listen, you know I've been called Candace Owens lately," Sage noted. Adding that "black conservative girls" tend to get mixed up by fans, as well.

Steele's new podcast may surprise some viewers as it is being hosted by the Club Random Network, which is under comedian and fellow podcast host Bill Maher's umbrella.

According to Hollywood in Toto, other talents joining the network are Billy Corgan, singer from the Smashing Pumpkins, former NBA player Kevin Garnett, and Limp Bizkit's rap-metal front man Fred Durst.

FINALLY!! Not sure how I was able to keep the secret for so long...but I'm THRILLED to announce my new show! Genuine convos with fearless people who are unafraid to tell their stories & speak their truths in this crazy world! Huge thx to @billmaher and his @ClubRandom_ team…

'Not a woke company': Trump backs Bud Light as beer brand drops star-studded Super Bowl commercial

Bud Light released a new Super Bowl commercial featuring its biggest spokesmen on the same day that President Donald Trump expressed his support for the brand.

Still attempting to recover from its 2023 marketing fiasco with alleged transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light received support from the 45th president.

Commenting on his platform Truth Social, Trump called Bud Light's failed promotion a "mistake of epic proportions" for which a "very big price was paid."

Indeed, Bud Light lost billions and its parent company's stock tumbled, but Trump asked if the brand deserved another chance.

"Anheuser-Busch is not a Woke company ... [it] spends $700 Million a year with our GREAT Farmers, employ 65 thousand Americans, of which 1,500 are Veterans, and is a Founding Corporate Partner of Folds of Honor, which provides Scholarships for families of fallen Servicemen & Women," Trump stated.

"Anheuser-Busch is a Great American Brand that perhaps deserves a Second Chance? What do you think? Perhaps, instead, we should be going after those companies that are looking to DESTROY AMERICA," he added.

Trump's endorsement may be tied to his reported significant investment in Anheuser-Busch InBev, however. According to data reviewed by the Independent in 2023, the former president owned between $1 and $5 million in stock under an account called "DJT Trust — Investment Account #2."

Business Insider noted the same, citing a 100-page disclosure form filed with the Federal Election Commission on April 14, 2023.

The positive words also came at the same time Anheuser-Busch lobbyist Jeff Miller was set to host a fundraiser for Trump. As reported by MSN, the beer giant paid Miller's firm $260,000 in 2023.

The fundraiser for Trump has a $10,000 ticket price and reportedly features members of Congress and Republican leaders.

The same day, Bud Light released what is most likely its most expensive commercial in recent history. Employing a galaxy of personalities, the ad featured Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning, a longtime supporter of the brand who has mentioned it in victory speeches.

As well, musician Post Malone made an appearance. The star has publicly drunk the beer for years, even on episodes of Joe Rogan's podcast.

UFC President Dana White was yet another big star in the ad. White is fresh off his public recommendation of the brand after re-signing a prominent sponsorship deal between the beer brand and the UFC.

Filthy rich? Done. One REALLY big bicep? Yes. An epic night out with Peyton Manning, @postmalone & @danawhite? The Bud Light Genie’s here in our Super Bowl LVIII commercial to make it happen
— (@)

Trump's comments echoed White's from October 2023 when the fight promoter was asked how fans would react to a partnership with the recently shamed brand.

"For Anheuser-Busch it was about values, core values for me. I'm at a point in my life and I'm at a point in my career where nothing is just about money any more," White told reporters.

"Almost a billion dollars a year go to U.S. farmers for their crops, for their products; that is right up my alley, that's exactly who I am," White listed. "65,000 Americans are employed by Anheuser-Busch, and thousands of them are vets; right up my alley," he added.

Seemingly the only person missing from the Bud Light commercial was newly signed comedian Shane Gillis. Gillis too is a noted Bud Light consumer, drinking the beer on many of his podcast appearances.

Gillis became a fan favorite for his lack of censorship, knowledge of history, and of course his impression of Trump.

While Bud Light has certainly amped up its efforts to win customers back, the company still has not issued an apology that resonated. An April 2023 statement by Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth fell flat when he stated the company "never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people."

"We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer," he added.

The company did not address any of consumers' concerns surrounding the promotion of gender dysphoria.

'You want to test God?!' Golf course altercation leads to intense flex-off over stray ball

A man became incensed after he was antagonized by a group of golfers who claimed he took a woman's ball, resulting in the man getting shirtless and challenging another man to a fight.

The incident occurred at the Crooked Creek Golf Course in southeast Michigan, according to OutKick, which described the area where the exchange took place as chaotic. The specific location is reportedly where three holes on the course converge, with netting even positioned to prevent golfers from hitting one another.

"We got a 'Karen' on the golf course," the TikTok video began, as an unknown individual recorded a golfer in a green and white-striped shirt holding a ball.

The group reportedly alleged that the man took the ball after it landed near him and refused to return it.

"You’ll leave after I don’t give you a goddamn thing.”

"I'm going to take your clubs," a woman off-screen said.

"Then leave! I'm going to stand here and you can complain, goodbye," the man continued saying to a person who was not seen. "You're the one who approached me and I asked her to no longer speak."

"You took her ball!" a woman is heard complaining.

"Please don't speak to me," the man answered.

"Bro, you took her ball," another man chimed in.

While still arguing with his original combatant, the golfer began to escalate the discussion by saying "I'll plant you, bitch boy. Get the f**k off the cart!" before quickly removing his shirt and flexing in a fit of rage.

"You see that! That’s a dude that’s been to heaven, bitch," he screamed. "You want to test God? You f**king come get it, s**t stack!”

"You think I'm mentally ill?" the man asked.

"I know you're mentally ill," a woman responded.

"Leave me alone," the man added as the group of golfers each drove away in their carts.

Dana White refuses to mandate COVID vaccinations for UFC fighters: 'This is a free country. You do what you want.'

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White railed against vaccine mandates in a new interview and declared that he would defy President Joe Biden by not requiring UFC fighters to be vaccinated for COVID-19. The UFC boss defended his decision by simply saying, "This is a free country."

White gave an interview to Fox News' Brian Kilmeade that was released Friday. The UFC president was asked about Biden's sweeping vaccine mandate for businesses with over 100 employees that was made official on Thursday.

"My fighters can get vaccinated or not," White proclaimed. "We're not forcing people to get vaccinated. I believe as an American, that's your choice. If you want to get vaccinated — your body. This is a free country. You do what you want."

In August, White also declared that he would not require COVID-19 vaccines for his fighters.

"I would never tell another human being what to do with their body," White said. "If you want to get vaccinated, that's up to you. That's your choice. You're never going to hear me say I'm going to force people to get vaccinated. Never gonna happen."

Kilmeade asked about UFC 268 — which features the welterweight championship main event bout between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. UFC 268 will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York City — which will require all attendees to show proof of being fully vaccinated to enter indoor settings because of the city's health order.

"If you're vaccinated and you want to come to the event, you can come to the event in New York," the no-holds-barred UFC president said. "If you're not, we're gonna be putting on 44 events around the country, you can go to one of those shows."

White pointed to Republican Glenn Youngkin defeating former Gov. Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia gubernatorial race as a possible turning point in the country's perspective on COVID-19 restrictions.

"I think you see the tide starting to turn now," White stated. "I even see some people on the crazy liberal side now saying, 'Whoa, what are we doing here?' I think everybody is starting to notice that things aren't working, things aren't the way they used to be. I think people just want some normalcy again. You're seeing it in Virginia."

White was asked about "free handouts" from the government, such as "free community college" and "free preschool."

"There's no such thing as free," White responded. "And you should know by now the government is never going to take care of you. You need to take care of yourself."

"Through the pandemic, I wasn't going to sit around and wait for the government to take care of me or my people," White said. "I'm an American. We take things head-on. We figure out solutions to problems."

"I'm a big believer of the American dream, it's real, I'm living it right now, as are many other people who live in this country," he proclaimed. "Listen, this country isn't perfect and never will be, but it's about as good as it gets compared to what's out there."

"Going through the pandemic the way that we did – finding solutions to problems instead of hiding – was this the best thing that we've ever done," White said of being one of the first sports associations to return to action during the pandemic.

"My intention was to take care of my people," he said. "Through the pandemic we didn't lay off one person, we didn't cut anyone's salaries, everybody got their full bonuses that year, and all my fighters' contracts were kept."

White made headlines in April when UFC 261 was held at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. More than 15,000 tickets to the event sold out in minutes because it was the first major sporting event to have a full-capacity indoor crowd since COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions were implemented in the United States.

Iran executes champion wrestler despite pleas from President Trump and Dana White to spare his life

An Iranian champion wrestler has been executed despite international outcries and pleas from President Donald Trump and UFC president Dana White to spare his life.

Navid Afkari, a 27-year-old Greco-Roman wrestler, participated in anti-government protests against Iran's Shia theocracy in 2018. Iranian authorities accused Afkari of stabbing a water supply company security guard in the southern city of Shiraz during the civil unrest.

Iranian officials claim that Afkari's mobile phone had been in the area where Hassan Turkman was murdered. Authorities alleged there is surveillance footage of him walking down a street, talking on his phone, near the crime scene. Iranian authorities claimed Afkari stabbed Turkman in the back, over a "personal dispute," without elaborating.

In July, Afkari was convicted of the murder of Turkman, and hit with other charges. A provincial court in Shiraz sentenced Afkari to death for the murder.

The wrestler's brothers Vahid Afkari and Habib Afkari were sentenced to 54 and 27 years in prison, respectively, as well as 74 lashes for each man. The Afkari brothers were charged with 20 different crimes, including "attending illegal gatherings, assembly and conspiracy to commit crimes against national security and insulting the supreme leader." Iran's Supreme Court rejected a review of the case in late August.

Iran broadcast the wrestler's confession on state TV last week. The mother of the brothers, Behieh Namjou, claimed that the three men confessed to the killing under torture. She pleaded for mercy from authorities for her children.

Afkari's death sentence caused international outcry for the wrestler to be spared from the death penalty.

"These brothers are the latest victims of Iran's deeply flawed criminal justice system, and their case is further evidence that Iranian courts systematically rely on 'confessions' obtained under torture and other ill-treatment to secure criminal convictions, in contravention of international law," said Diana Eltahawy, Amnesty International's deputy regional director for the Middle East and North Africa.

"Amnesty International is calling on the international community, including UN human rights bodies and EU member states, to urgently intervene and demand the Iranian authorities immediately reveal the fate and whereabouts of these three brothers and to save Navid Afkari from execution," Eltahawy said on Friday.

Iranian actress and human rights defender Nazanin Boniadi brought awareness to Afkari's case.

UFC president Dana White wrote, "Iran, please spare Navid Afkari."

"This week the New York Times wrote a story about a very famous wrestler from Iran – his name is Navid Afkari," White says in the video. "He went to a peaceful protest in Iran, and he is gonna be executed for that."

"It was brought to my attention. This guys is – first of all he is human being," White continued. "Number two he is one of us, could be any of my fighters."

"The only I thing I thought to do is to call the President [Donald Trump] and see if he could help this man," White revealed. "He said 'let us look into it, we'll talk to my administration and see if there is something we can do to save his life'."

President Donald Trump pleaded for Iran to not execute Afkari.

"Hearing that Iran is looking to execute a great and popular wrestling star, 27-year-old Navid Afkarai, whose sole act was an anti-government demonstration on the streets," President Trump tweeted on Sept. 3. "They were protesting the 'country's worsening economic situation and inflation' To the leaders of Iran, I would greatly appreciate if you would spare this young man's life, and not execute him. Thank you!"

On Tuesday, a global union representing 85,000 athletes called for Iran's expulsion from international sports competitions if it executed Afkari, according to Reuters.

Navid Afkari was executed on Saturday, according to Iranian state media.

"The retaliation sentence against Navid Afkari, the killer of Hassan Turkman, was carried out this morning in Adelabad prison in Shiraz," said the chief justice of Fars province, Kazem Mousavi, on Iranian state TV on Saturday. Mousavi said the execution occurred "after legal procedures were carried out at the insistence of the parents and the family of the victim."

Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad wrote, "In a taped message from inside the prison, Navid said: 'If I'm hanged, know that an innocent man has been killed.'"
