Chip Roy SLAMS Republicans’ 'TERRIBLE' debt ceiling deal

According to Glenn Beck, Republicans have just given Donald Trump the nomination.

“Nobody’s going to trust the Republicans after this,” he says.

“We gave you the benefit of the doubt, McCarthy, and this is what you return. It’s what, $4 trillion? Or is it $6 trillion that they can raise the debt ceiling up to in the next couple of years?”

Representative Chip Roy agrees.

“I mean look you’re right, that this is I think a terrible quote-unquote deal,” Roy says.

Roy explains what the Republicans are allowing.

“What we get is a date certain for a debt ceiling increase, January 1, 2025. There is no actual dollar amount, so what that means is you essentially have an uncapped increase in the debt ceiling to a date certain,” Roy says.

“You really can’t make this up,” he continues, “and with all due respect for the leadership, they say it’s historic. They miscalculated. They slipped into their old ways.”

But Roy has hope, saying he wants to give them the “benefit of the doubt that this wasn’t sinister.”

Roy also calls for all listeners of Glenn’s show to take action by reaching out to members of Congress.

“Your voices need to be heard. Vote no on this. We can still kill this and start over and do the right thing,” he says.

“So, what do you want the American people to do?” Glenn asks.

“I mean honestly, I don’t know how many times you guys can say ‘Call your Congressman,’ because I mean really — we have,” Glenn adds.

“It hasn’t been passed yet,” Roy responds, adding, “just get involved over the next 48 hours. Make sure every Republican knows this is a bad deal. Make your voice heard loudly. Do it on social media. Do it to their offices. We’re going to fight up here and then we’re going to regroup and figure out what the next step is to hold the line.”

White House, Republicans reportedly strike a deal to raise the debt ceiling and avoid default

The White House and Republicans have reached an agreement in principle to raise the debt ceiling and avert a default, according to multiple reports.

Several news outlets are reporting that President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy have reached a tentative deal to raise the nation's debt ceiling, narrowly avoiding the first default in United States history. Following a months-long standoff, the two sides reportedly struck a deal to raise the nation's $31.4 trillion debt ceiling.

"But, I’m not sure it’s completely settled. Might be one or two small things they need to finish. But close enough to move forward," a source familiar with the negotiations told Reuters.

CNN reported, "The text of the deal will be reviewed overnight by both sides to ensure it lines up with the tentative agreement."

The agreement will "raise the debt limit for two years while cutting and capping some government spending over the same period," the New York Times reported, citing three sources familiar with the deal.

The Times said of the compromise between the White House and Republicans, "It was structured with the aim of enticing votes from both parties, though it would most likely draw the ire not only of conservative Republicans but also Democrats furious at being asked to vote for cuts they oppose with the threat of default looming."

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen previously warned that a deal must be finalized by June 5 to avoid a default.

Mitch McConnell slams Chuck Schumer's 'hysterics' in scathing statement over debt-ceiling deal

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky issued a scathing statement lambasting Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) and saying he would no longer help them in future budget deals.

McConnell expressed his anger and frustration after Schumer attacked Republicans on Thursday after a deal was reached to raise the debt ceiling by $480 billion until December.

"Last night, Republicans filled the leadership vacuum that has troubled the Senate since January. I write to inform you that I will not provide such assistance again if your all-Democrat government drifts into another avoidable crisis," said McConnell in a letter to President Joe Biden (D).

Schumer blasted Republicans in a blistering speech after the deal was reached and the bill was passed. Several Republicans bristled at his comments, calling them "totally out of line" and "inappropriate." Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia went to Schumer and told him his speech was "f***ing stupid."

McConnell decried the speech in his statement.

"Remarkably, even as Republicans saved Americans from his crisis, Senator Schumer kept compounding his failures. Last night, in a bizarre spectacle, Senator Schumer exploded in a rant that was so partisan, angry, and corrosive that even Democratic Senators were visibly embarrassed by him and for him. This tantrum encapsulated and escalated a pattern of angry incompetence from Senator Schumer. It was reminiscent of last year when he joined a protest on the steps of the Supreme Court and shouted threats at individual Justices by name."

The Republican leader went on to say he would not help Democrats avoid further disaster.

"I am writing to make it clear that in light of Senator Schumer's hysterics and my grave concerns about the ways that another vast, reckless, partisan spending bill would hurt Americans and help China," McConnell concluded. "I will not be a party to any future effort to mitigate the consequences of Democratic mismanagement."

Some Republicans also publicly criticized McConnell for caving to Democrats after publicly stating he would not vote to raise the debt ceiling.
