'Unimaginable': Woman 'casting spells' accused of dismembering her mother, cooking her remains in a pot

A Kentucky woman is accused of murdering her own mother, dismembering her body, then cooking the remains in a pot until they were "charred," according to authorities.

Kentucky State Police arrested 32-year-old Torilena May Fields, of Mount Olivet, on Oct. 10.

'Whatever witchcraft is, but I heard she was into it.'

Fields initially was charged with obstructing governmental operations, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. However, a grand jury added charges of murder and animal torture Monday.

The suspect is being detained at the Bourbon County Detention Center. Fields' bond was set at $1.5 million.

WOLF-TV reported Fields shot her mother — Trudy Fields — in the head, then stabbed her multiple times between Oct. 8 and Oct. 9, according to the indictment.

Fields is accused of “decapitating, dismembering, eviscerating her mother’s corpse, and placing her head, feet, and forearms in a pot in the oven and heating them until they were charred,” the indictment reads, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The victim reportedly hired men to do work on her property, but nobody answered when they knocked on the front door.

The contractors then walked around the property in an effort to find the owner, but instead they stumbled upon a gruesome crime scene, according to court documents.

The workers followed drag marks to the back of the house and found a dismembered body, the citation states.

State troopers discovered the dismembered female body near a pile of hair, a “blood-stained mattress,” “blood on the back porch,” and blood on the “threshold of the back door,” according to the citation. A second mattress was reportedly found in the back yard — it was folded in half and contained multiple severed body parts and organs.

Police said the arms, legs, and head had been removed from the body.

Authorities said the suspect refused to come out of the house, and police reportedly had a standoff with the suspect that ended around 11 p.m. after officers used tear gas and a police robot. Fields emerged from the house covered in blood, according to authorities.

The interior of the house was just as ghastly.

According to the indictment, troopers discovered a severed head as well as severed hands, feet, and a forearm that “appeared to have been cooked” in a steel pot inside the oven. The officers noted that the pot was still “warm to the touch.”

The contractors told police they had been to the property the day before, during which they encountered the suspect “casting spells on them and being confrontational,” according to the arrest citation.

Family member Todd Brock told WCPO-TV, "Witchcraft, fingernails, and just do different stuff. Whatever witchcraft is, but I heard she was into it. I think somebody lost control of their mind. Had to have something planned out or satanism or had their brain washed."

Olivia Brock, another family member, told WOLF-TV, "You can imagine, it’s one thing to find out your family member’s been murdered, but I mean, it’s a whole other thing for the details and stuff; I mean, it’s literally unimaginable, unimaginable. All of us have been experiencing shock for the first time, I guess you could say. That’s a whole different — grief and shock are two different ballgames."

Fields also is accused of torturing and murdering a dog.

Olivia Brock said the suspect had suffered a severe brain injury in a motorcycle crash a few months ago and as a result couldn't remember her name or even know where she was.

The victim's sister, Diana Brock, said the family is Christian and will "never stop loving" Torilena Fields despite the diabolical accusations.

"We don't disown people, no matter what you've done. We love, and that's what God says," Diana said. "You know you love no matter what, unconditionally, and we just support the family, and that's what we're trying to do."

The Commonwealth claimed that Fields was not acting under the influence of “extreme emotional disturbance for which there was a reasonable explanation or excuse.” However, the arrest report did note that Fields appeared to be under the influence of drugs at the time of her arrest.

According to the Monday indictment, Fields also is accused of torturing and murdering a dog.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23.

Killer who began male-to-female transition in prison after decapitating man just learned fate for fatally stabbing second man

A convicted killer who began transitioning his gender identity while in prison after his grisly decapitation murder of a victim in Oklahoma has been sentenced for the stabbing death of a second man — a New York City antiques dealer.

On Thursday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr. announced the prison sentence of Alex Ray Scott for the stabbing murder of 64-year-old Kenneth Savinski in January 2020. Scott was sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.

Law enforcement said the victim had been decapitated with a chainsaw-like instrument.

Scott, from Oklahoma, pleaded guilty Sept. 9 in New York State Supreme Court to one count of murder in the second degree and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree.

“Alex Ray Scott will serve a significant prison term for the brutal and senseless murder of Kenneth Savinski — a beloved, friendly person and respected churchgoer,” Bragg said in a statement. “Mr. Savinski’s loss not only devastated his friends and family but shocked his tight-knit community. Although we cannot bring Mr. Savinski back, I hope the resolution of this case offers his loved ones a sense of justice in their ongoing grief.”

Authorities said Scott met Savinski on a dating app, and the pair were "enjoying a night out together" on Jan. 27, 2020. At around 11:30 p.m., Scott allegedly was invited back to Savinski's Upper East Side apartment.

The next day, police discovered Savinski "unresponsive, face down, and covered in blood on his living room floor at his East 83rd Street apartment," according to the New York Post.

Prosecutors said Savinski was wounded on the head and neck, suffering a broken hyoid bone — which is in the neck and under the chin — a slit throat, and large, deep cuts across his face and forehead. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities believe Scott killed Savinski with a decorative plate, kitchen knife, and “maybe a pen.”

Scott turned himself in at the NYPD's 19th Precinct stationhouse on Jan. 30, 2020, and was arrested the next day after two of Savinski’s credit cards were found in Scott's possession.

Scott reportedly told investigators he had no memory of the gruesome attack. According to the indictment, Scott later told detectives, “I think I may have killed someone last night.”

During the investigation into Savinski's bloody murder, Scott allegedly confessed to killing another person in an unrelated case.

Scott reportedly had credit cards in his possession belonging to Robin Skocdopole, who lived in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Authorities searched Skocdopole's home, which was empty of all possessions — but there were pools of blood inside the residence, federal prosecutors stated.

Skocdopole had not been seen since August 2019.

Fox News reported Scott rented a room from Skocdopole and then told others that the landlord abruptly moved for work to Dallas.

In May 2020, Skocdopole's remains were on the edge of a creek in Broken Arrow.

Law enforcement said the victim had been decapitated with a chainsaw-like instrument.

Last May, the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Oklahoma said in a press release, "The medical examiner’s report indicated two different saws were used during the dismemberment including a saw comparable to a chainsaw."

Scott was convicted of second-degree murder, and in May, was sentenced to 540 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.

“Alex Scott was sentenced for the murder and dismemberment of Robin Skocdopole,” said U.S. attorney Clint Johnson. “This successful prosecution was the result of the exhaustive investigation and outstanding cooperation between federal, state, and local law enforcement. We will continue to work with law enforcement partners to hold violent offenders accountable.”

While in jail, Scott began a transition to a transgender individual.

Scott — a biological male who previously sported a beard — presented a feminine appearance during this week's sentencing hearing for the murder of Savinski.

The New York Post reported that Scott was also facing charges in his home state of Oklahoma for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old boy.

Scientists catch culprit behind serial seal decapitations in the act

Decapitated seals have been turning up along North American coastlines for several years. Some experts have suggested humans were to blame for sea lions, harbor seal pups, and various other pinnipeds losing their heads. One private investigator went so far as to suggest the "cuts were surgical."

It turns out that canids, not beachfront butchers, were to blame.

What's the background?

Private investigator David Stuart was among the beachgoers to express concern in 2016 about the discovery of headless seals and ponder their fate. After coming across one such decapitated mammal on Garry Point Park beach in British Columbia, Stuart told Richmond News that the incision was extremely clean, "almost laser precision."

"The seal's rectum has been removed and cauterized; it makes no sense," continued Stuart. "This was a crime scene as far as I was concerned; this needed to be looked at."

Years later, after numerous other incidents were reported on the West Coast, 21 headless seals turned up on the other side of the continent, along the shores of Nova Scotia, Canada. Mammal zoologist Dr. Anna Hall, who noted a similar trend was impacting sea lions in British Columbia, suggested humans might have been responsible, reported the National Post.

"The carcasses have a distinct similarity to them," said Hall. "While we can't say definitely that the seals on the East Coast have been decapitated by human efforts, it does seem that is a distinct possibility looking at the photographs."

Marine mammal biologist Tonya Wimmer alternatively suspected scavengers were to blame, stating, "From the images and information we've received, many of the holes are where the umbilicus would have been and is likely scavenging by other animals."

Caught in the act

Sarah Grimes, a stranding coordinator at the Noyo Center for Marine Science in Mendocino County, California, long speculated about the cause of the headless wonders.

"It was so gruesome," she recently told the Mercury News regarding the headless harbor seals she encountered along the high-tide line in MacKerricher State Park, near Fort Bragg. "I was like marine mammal CSI, seeing all the dead pups with their heads torn off, and I'm like, 'What the heck did that?'"

Frankie Gerraty, a Ph.D. student at UC Santa Cruz, ultimately provided Grimes with an answer, capturing the culprit on tape in MacKerricher.

"We set up camera traps and got one really solid video of a coyote dragging a harbor seal pup and beheading it," said Gerraty. "We are pretty confident there has been predation at four sites along the Northern California coast."

The student noted that contrary to popular wisdom, coyotes — who have made a big comeback from having their numbers suppressed by farmers and ranchers for decades — are often beach dwellers.

"Coyotes are underappreciated predators in shoreline ecosystems, and marine mammals are the largest and most calorically rich nutrient parcels in the ocean, and really anywhere in the world," said Gerraty.

It's unclear both why coyotes only eat the heads and whether this behavior is altogether new.

Gerraty told the Los Angeles Times, "My guess is that the brains are pretty nutritious compared to a lot of other seal parts. Blubber can be pretty hard to get through."

The student indicated that the coyotes' hunting pattern is unlikely to have a substantial impact on seal populations but may prompt them to relocate where they give birth and "haul out."

Los Angeles mother allegedly decapitated by her own daughter: 'There's blood on that side, there's blood on the floor'

Police discovered a grisly crime scene after a Los Angeles County mother was allegedly decapitated by her own daughter.

Around 5 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a call regarding a stabbing at a residence in El Monte, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Officers found 44-year-old Jacqueline Perez stabbed to death. She had suffered multiple stab wounds, and was allegedly decapitated.

KABC reported that officers removed a head from a trash can, as seen by the network's news helicopter.

Authorities pronounced the victim deceased at the nightmarish scene.

According to Law & Crime, "Neighbors and family members described the gruesome scene where the alleged decapitation took place. There was a trail of bloody footprints on the driveway coming from the home’s front door near decorations from a recent child’s birthday party."

Neighbor Hector Manzo told KABC, "There’s blood on that side, there's blood on the floor."

The victim’s brother, Julio Lopez, said he heard his 11-year-old nephew scream. The boy raced out of the victim's house with his shirt soaking in blood.

"Maybe they argued," he said. "To tell you the truth, I don’t know."

Outside of the home, police arrested Kimberly Monique Gonzalez – the 25-year-old daughter of Perez. The murder suspect was covered in blood, according to police.

Police recovered a possible murder weapon, but did not elaborate.

Gonzalez was charged with one count of murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. If convicted, Gonzalez faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Gonzalez is currently held on a $2 million bail in the Los Angeles County Jail.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón called the incident an "extraordinarily violent act."

"My heart goes out to the family and loved ones who have been shattered by this unimaginable tragedy. The pain and grief they must be experiencing is unimaginable," Gascón said in a statement.

"This was an extraordinarily violent act which has had a profound impact on our community," he added. "We are fully committed to seeking justice on behalf of the victim and our dedicated team will work tirelessly to bring clarity and closure to this heartbreaking case."

Illegal immigrant convicted of beheading his girlfriend found not guilty due to mental illness, victim's son vexed over 'insane' ruling

An illegal immigrant who was convicted of first-degree premeditated murder for beheading his girlfriend in Minnesota has been found not guilty due to his mental illness.

Alexis Saborit, 42, was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder in May. However, Judge Caroline Lennon ruled on Monday that Saborit was not guilty due to his mental illness.

The judge cited psychologists who determined that Saborit's "mental illness prevented him from understanding his actions were morally wrong."

CBS News reported, "Two doctors analyzed Saborit's case and determined he 'was suffering from mental illness to the extent that it prevented him from understanding the moral wrongfulness of his actions during the alleged offense.'"

The judge said Saborit's medical history included traumatic brain injury from a 2017 car crash, "symptoms of mania in conjunction with psychosis," "significant history" of non-compliance with prescribed treatments, and hospitalizations in 2013 for "bizarre delusions."

On July 28, 2021, Saborit was driving to a court appearance with his 55-year-old girlfriend America Thayer. Saborit attacked Thayer with an 8-pound dumbbell.

Saborit – an illegal immigrant from Cuba – used a machete to behead his girlfriend. He then dumped her decapitated body on the sidewalk in Shakopee, Minnesota. The gruesome beheading happened in broad daylight in front of several witnesses.

Thayer allegedly told Saborit that she wanted to end their 12-year relationship. According to his indictment, Saborit told a friend, "I'm going to chop her f***ing head off" with a laugh just days before the decapitation.

Thayer's son, Charles Thayer, is furious that Saborit was not being sent to prison.

"It is tough to understand how somebody can commit cold-blooded murder, plan to do it, tell everyone they’re going to do it, have a motive to do it, and then somehow be considered insane," Charles Thayer told KMSP-TV.

"I just don't know what world or society we are living in anymore," Charles added. "I just want this to be over with, for myself and my family."

He continued, "This is your typical tell-tale abusive man controlling a relationship for many, many years. And I cannot even tell you how many times the cops were called for him beating the crap out of her."

Thayer brought a large photo of his mother to court, but Saborit allegedly wouldn't look at it.

"He didn't make any eye contact at all," Thayer said. "He is obviously very ashamed of what he did. He killed the only person in the world that cared about this guy."

Saborit will be held at the Scott County Jail until he is transferred to a psychiatric care facility.

Shakopee man who decapitated girlfriend found not guilty due to mental illness www.youtube.com

Minnesota man convicted of murder for beheading girlfriend in front of several witnesses

A Minnesota man has been convicted of killing his girlfriend. The grisly murder was allegedly witnessed by several people, who said the killer beheaded his girlfriend.

Alexis Saborit, 44, was found guilty in the 2021 slaying of 56-year-old America Thayer. Saborit was convicted of first-degree murder on Thursday.

Saborit and Thayer were driving to a court appearance on July 28, 2021.

CBS News reported, "Saborit and Thayer were on the way to his court appearance for felony charges alleging that he set fire to their apartment in Shakopee during a confrontation with police and that Saborit attacked Thayer after she told him she wanted to end their relationship."

While in Thayer's parked Chrysler 300 sedan, Saborit allegedly attacked his girlfriend with an 8-pound dumbbell near downtown Shakopee, Minnesota. Witnesses purportedly saw Saborit attack Thayer with the dumbbell.

Saborit allegedly used a machete to behead his girlfriend, and then dumped her body on the sidewalk.

Witnesses reportedly "saw the man chopping at the front passenger seat with a large knife and then pull a decapitated body and severed head out of the vehicle."

A witness allegedly drove by the area and "saw a body and severed head on the ground outside of the vehicle."

Thayer was pronounced dead at the scene of the gruesome crime.

Saborit purportedly bolted from the crime scene on foot, then disposed of the machete while running away. Saborit was arrested less than 2 miles away at the Travelodge Hotel, where he was staying.

Judge Caroline H. Lennon proclaimed, "The Defendant used a dumbbell to strike Thayer in the head and a machete to decapitate her. The nature of the assault is proof of the Defendant's intent to cause Thayer's death."

"The Court finds proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Defendant caused the death of America Thayer," Lennon declared.

County Attorney Ron Hocevar said he was pleased with the verdict, and anticipates that Saborit would be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Coworkers recalled what a "kind" person Thayer was.

"Thayer, who was employed by My Pillow in Chaska, is described by her former co-workers as extremely hard-working, caring, and the kind of person that would never hurt a fly," according to a report from SW News Media in 2021.

A review hearing is scheduled for June 1.

Florida man gnawed off head of pet python during violent domestic dispute: Police

A Florida man bit off the head of a pet python during a heated and violent domestic dispute with a woman, according to police.

The Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a report of a domestic dispute at an apartment complex just after 5:20 a.m. on Monday. When police arrived at the apartment, they reportedly could hear a man and a woman yelling at each other. Then the cops allegedly heard the woman scream after they knocked on the front door.

The woman pleaded with the police, "Just kick the door in!"

Police forcibly entered the home and witnessed Kevin Justin Mayorga, 32, fleeing the room. He reportedly attempted to close a door in another room to trap the victim "against her will."

Police officers instructed Mayorga to put his hands up, but he reportedly resisted. An officer used a taser on Mayorga, but the weapon had "no effect" on him, according to the police report.

While officers attempted to restrain Mayorga, he allegedly started punching them. He is said to have punched one of the officers in the eye with a handcuff that was only on one of his wrists. The police officer suffered an abrasion on his face. Police were finally able to restrain Mayorga.

The woman in the residence informed police that Mayorga gnawed off the head of a pet python. The woman claimed that Mayorga grabbed the snake and decapitated the animal. Police allegedly confirmed the snake's decapitation after finding the ball python's body and its severed head near the front door.

Jail records show that Mayorga was charged with one count each of animal cruelty with the intent to kill, false imprisonment, and resisting an officer with violence. The Cutler Bay man was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and held on $15,000 bond.

According to Animal Diversity Web, ball pythons are also known as royal pythons. Ball pythons get their name for coiling up into a ball when they are frightened or stressed.

The non-venomous constrictor snakes are native to Central and West Africa. Reptiles Magazine said ball pythons can grow up to six feet in length. The magazine added, "Ball pythons make for a quality pet for the first-time keeper and experienced herpetoculturists alike."

Massive great white shark decapitated diver in first fatal attack of 2023: Report

A massive great white shark decapitated a diver in what was the first fatal shark attack of 2023, according to reports.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 5, Manuel Lopez went diving in the waters of Tobari Bay, off the coast of Benito Juárez in Sonora on Mexico's west coast. Using surface air supplied by hoses from a boat, Lopez dove into depths of as much as 59 feet in the water. Lopez was diving for ax tripe – a species of mollusk similar to scallops.

A fisherman allegedly witnessed the gruesome shark attack.

"He was diving when the animal attacked him, impressively ripping off his head and biting both shoulders," Jose Bernal told Tracking Sharks – a website that tracks shark attacks around the world with the purpose to "understand and share information on why shark attacks occur and to help prevent negative shark encounters in the future."

Bernal said large sharks had been spotted in the area.

"Local divers had been warned about the presence of sharks in the area and most had not been out for several days," Bernal said.

The shark sightings forced many fishermen and divers to avoid the area, but the 53-year-old Lopez continued to dive despite the risk because of a seafood shortage in the area.

This was the first fatal shark attack of 2023, according to Tracking Sharks.

Tracking Sharks noted, "White sharks are most prevalent in the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California, during December and January when pregnant female sharks enter the area. The sharks will often search for fat-filled sea lions to feed upon due to their high caloric count."

In February 2022, 56-year-old Victor Estrella was killed by a great white shark in the same area. He was diving for scallops when he was killed by the shark.

In December 2018, 35-year-old Nahum Verdugo Aguilera was killed in the same area by a shark. The shark ripped off the man's leg and opened up a large wound on his abdomen in the Gulf of California.

Texas man confesses to decapitation and 'gruesome' murder of his 21-year-old newlywed wife, police say

A young woman was found decapitated in Texas. The husband of the victim confessed to the "gruesome" murder, according to police.

Deputies with the Waller County Sheriff's Office received a call about a deceased woman around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. When police arrived at the crime scene, authorities discovered a dead woman at a secondary home at the address provided.

Police found the body of a 21-year-old woman inside the house. The victim was decapitated, and her head was not inside the small home with the body. Police discovered a knife — believed to be the murder weapon. Investigators also found the victim's head on the property.

Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry told reporters on Thursday, "It was a portion of a body, dismembered, and a residence that was covered in blood — a gruesome scene, at best."

Police found Jared James Dicus at the home. He lived at a small cottage on his family's property. Dicus was the husband of the victim — identified as Anggy Diaz.

The couple were just married in late October 2022.

Waller County Judge Trey Duhon wrote on Facebook:

I’m sure many of you have heard about an occurrence yesterday in the Oak Hollow area of Waller County where a young man was arrested and charged with murdering his wife. This involved a young couple that I married in October of 2022. During my short time with them, they were a very nice young couple. As with many of you, I’m greatly saddened and shocked by the news of this tragic event and my prayers are with all of their families.

Authorities said it was the father of Dicus who called deputies to the couple's home on the family's property regarding the murdered woman.

Dicus and his parents were questioned in the murder of the young woman. Sheriff Guidry said Dicus confessed to decapitating and murdering his wife.

Dicus was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife.

Guidry said, "Evidence shows the suspect used a kitchen knife."

The sheriff added, "Everything happened on the property. And all parts and pieces were recovered and submitted for evidence."

"There have been prior calls, disturbance-wise, but nothing to this effect, to this level of violence," Guidry noted.

The sheriff said Diaz is a Nicaraguan citizen who was described as "undocumented."

An investigation into the decapitation murder is still ongoing.

Woman traveled 3,000 miles to meet online boyfriend, then is gruesomely murdered, decapitated, and has her organs harvested

Blanca Arellano traveled 3,000 miles to finally meet her online boyfriend after sustaining a long-distance relationship for months. What was supposed to be a romantic first meeting quickly turned into a gruesome tragedy as the woman was murdered, decapitated, and her body was dismembered by the killer who harvested her organs, according to authorities.

For months, Mexican citizen Arellano had an online relationship with Juan Pablo Jesús Villafuerte from Peru. The couple reportedly struck up a relationship through online video game groups during the pandemic. In July, 51-year-old Arellano finally decided to meet 37-year-old Villafuerte in person and traveled 3,000 miles to Peru.

Arellano's family believed that “their relationship was going very well,” according to her niece Karla Arellano. However, all communications between Arellano and her family back home in Mexico completely stopped on Nov. 7.

The family contacted Villafuerte – who is a medical student.

“He argues that on Sunday my aunt decided to return to Mexico,” Arellano's niece wrote on Twitter, according to The Daily Beast. “They were in Huacho and she left for Lima by her own means to later go to Mexico but that has not happened.”

Villafeurte allegedly said that Arellano was “bored” of their relationship and that the romance was “over.”

“I'm sure her phone is not working or she’s out of battery,” Villafuerte reportedly told Arellano's niece.

On Nov. 9, a local fisherman discovered a faceless head floating in the waters of the port town of Huacho, Peru. A human arm, a finger, and a torso missing organs were also reportedly found.

On Nov. 17, Villafuerte was arrested, and is suspected of harvesting Arellano's organs.

Peru General Attorney Zoraida Ávalos said in a statement, "Juan Pablo Villafuerte was arrested on charges of human organs trafficking."

El Pais reported that investigators "carried out a luminol test to reveal latent blood stains in various areas" of Villafuerte's home.

"The evidence is irrefutable: traces were found in the bathroom, the laundry room, cleaning supplies and even on the mattress. They also found women's clothing, some suitcases and a Mexican flag," according to the outlet.

Villafuerte reportedly uploaded several videos of him discussing the human body and speaking about the brain, pancreas, and stomach.

Arellano's niece wrote on Wednesday, “We have no words to express what we are experiencing. My aunt was a kind, warm person, full of light, intelligent, dedicated, loving and that is how she should be remembered.”

“We believe in Peruvian laws and we fully trust the authorities to make it happen as they have done an impeccable job so far,” she continued. It’s time to raise your voice and ask for #JusticiaParaBlanca.”
