Pro-LGBT advocacy group hit with blowback for Juneteenth tweet claiming, 'Our fight for equality is synonymous with the fight for Black freedom'



In a Monday tweet marking the Juneteenth holiday, the Human Rights Campaign, a pro-LGBT advocacy group, asserted that there is a parallel between the LGBT movement and "the fight for Black freedom."

"To honor #Juneteenth is to recognize the intersectionality between LGBTQ+ equality and racial justice. True Black liberation continues to be challenged today by systemic racism and oppression. Our fight for equality is synonymous with the fight for Black freedom."

The tweet sparked blowback on social media.

"Right… because as my ancestors were toiling away on fields and dreaming of freedom, the prominent thought in their minds were 'that whip might hurt, but it doesn’t hurt anywhere as badly as LGBTQ+ oppression,'" Zeek Arkham sarcastically tweeted in response to the Human Rights Campaign. "Y’all had nothing else to tweet about today, huh?" he added.

"For all the talk about 'colonizers', I have never seen a political movement representing so few people be so successful at extracting the resources (eg., history, imagery, rhetoric) from other movements and using them for their own purposes," tweeted Delano Squires, who is a contributor to BlazeTV's "Fearless with Jason Whitlock."

"Not everything has to be about you, you narcissistic freaks," Sean Davis tweeted.

"Critical Theory on display. Everything ties back to pushing Marxism. The issue is not the issue. Minorities are just pawns in this cynical agenda to take over the U.S. government and forcibly install a socialist government," Kyle Becker tweeted.

Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021.

"One of my proudest actions as President has been signing the bipartisan law establishing Juneteenth as the first new Federal holiday since the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday nearly four decades ago," President Joe Biden said in a 2023 Juneteenth Day of Observance proclamation.

Democrat calls it 'dangerous and un-American' to think children are safest with a married mother and father



South Dakota state Rep. Erin Healy, a Democrat, described the notion that children are safest in a family with a married mother and father as a "dangerous and un-American belief."

"Extremist group Family Heritage Alliance said this morning that the safest place for kids are in families that have a married mom and dad. What a dangerous and un-American belief," Healy tweeted on Monday.

Family Heritage Alliance's website indicates that the group wants "South Dakota be a state where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is valued."

Healy lamented the failure of a measure to redefine marriage as between two people, rather than between a man and a woman. She retweeted a post in which a reporter said that the state House Affairs Committee had killed the bill in a 7-5 vote.

"The grip from fundamentalist groups who only believe in nuclear families is strong at our state legislature today. I am disgusted by the extremist opposition we heard today and disappointed we couldn't pass such a simple, important bill," Healy tweeted.

"I thought this was a parody until I looked at the rest of her timeline. Children do best with a mother and father in a healthy, committed relationship. That's reality. I guess reality is too extreme for her," someone else tweeted.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican, signed a commonsense measure on Monday to prohibit health care professionals from providing gender reassignment surgeries and other transgender-related services to minors.

But earlier this month, Healy described the measure as "extremism at its finest" and claimed that "kids are going to die because of this bill."

Obama urges promotion of 'reproductive rights' for the sake of 'future generations'



Former President Barack Obama tweeted on Sunday that people need to advance "reproductive rights" for the sake of modern-day families and future generations.

"On what would have been the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we're reminded that progress can move backward. And that means we've got to recommit to doing our part to protect and expand reproductive rights for families today — and for generations to come," Obama tweeted on Sunday.

"Where in 'for generations to come' does killing unborn babies fit ?" Dan Dakich tweeted.

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court returned to the states the full authority to determine how to handle the issue of abortion.

"The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion," the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization opinion in states. "Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives."

A draft opinion leaked before the high court issued its official opinion last year, but the Supreme Court marshal's report on the leak investigation noted that no perpetrator has been identified.

"At this time, based on a preponderance of the evidence standard, it is not possible to determine the identity of any individual who may have disclosed the document or how the draft opinion ended up with Politico," the report stated. "While investigators and the Court’s IT experts cannot absolutely rule out a hack, the evidence to date reveals no suggestion of improper outside access. Investigators also cannot eliminate the possibility that the draft opinion was inadvertently or negligently disclosed – for example, by being left in a public space either inside or outside the building."

Sick: Fatherly piece suggests taking children to pride parades, but acknowledges that 'They're filled with sights that may be new to kids, like public nudity and kink'



A piece posted on Fatherly.com suggests that people should take their children to pride parades — but by noting that such events can include "public nudity," the piece actually proves that parents should under no circumstances consider taking their kids to pride festivities.

"Pride Parades and the Pride festivals that follow are noisy and crowded. They're filled with sights that may be new to kids, like public nudity and kink. Not to mention that Pride parades aren’t the most sober of places. So is it appropriate to take your young kids to Pride?" the piece asks. "Considering the benefits for all families — including seeing other LGBTQ+ families like yours, or showing up as an ally if your family members are straight and cisgender — the answer is absolutely."

The piece says that Jenifer McGuire, a lesbian, has attended pride events with her children, who have learned to expect nakedness.

"They just had to learn to laugh and enjoy things. Like there were these Beanie Babies with giant penises on them," McGuire said, according to the outlet. "For a fourth- and fifth-grade kid, that's super funny."

The piece suggests preparing kids before heading to a pride event by reading them children's books about LGBT topics: "Before going to Pride, you should also sit your kids down with a few more children’s books about LGBTQ+ people and families. Kids have a tendency to point and ask questions when they’re exposed to new things, and you don’t want people celebrating Pride to become a convenient life lesson for your children."

Responding to a tweet about the article, Delano Squires commented, "This type of 'fatherly' advice (written by a woman, btw) is why we’re in this position today. No father who actually loves his kids would subject them to 'nudity and kink' in the name of 'allyship' or any other political agenda."

The U.S. military and government have hailed so-called Pride Month. President Joe Biden issued a proclamation. The Department of Homeland Security and Department of the Treasury have both hoisted pride flags. The Marine Corps saluted LGBT service members and posted a graphic that featured bullets with brightly colored tips, in an apparent nod to the LGBT rainbow symbol. The Air Force also issued a tweet recognizing Pride Month.

Chilling bodycam video of cops being ambushed shows how a calm situation can turn deadly in an instant for police



One second, two NYPD officers were assisting an domestic violence victim, the next second, a hail of gunfire was sprayed at them as the alleged abusive husband ambushed them. The New York Police Department released graphic bodycam video of the deadly shootout at 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 24 between cops and Rondell Goppy in Queens, New York.

"Authorities say a 41-year-old woman had walked into the 105th Precinct to report the domestic violence case, and the officers then accompanied her back to the residence to collect her belongings," KABC-TV reported.

NYPD officers Joseph Murphy and Christopher Wells were attempting to provide solutions to Goppy's wife, who feared that her husband would harm her. The officers suggested getting a locksmith to change the locks in the home. Officer Murphy proposes leaving the house, and asks the woman, "Where does your sister live?"

All of a sudden, the terrified woman announces, "Oh, he's coming. That's him. He's here." She shakily shrieks, "Ooh. Ooh!"

Goppy opens the front door, and in the blink of an eye, gunshots ring out towards the police officers. Goppy, reportedly armed with a licensed Glock Model 22 .40 caliber firearm and a Smith & Wesson Model MP Shield 9 mm handgun, fired 11 shots in a few seconds.

Bullets struck Officer Wells in the thigh and Officer Murphy in both of his hands. The officers retaliated in self-defense by firing 24 shots, hitting Goppy several times. Goppy died from his injuries. The woman was not injured in the shooting.

Law enforcement officials say it's a miracle they survived the horrifying shootout.

"This video is chilling and difficult to watch, but it makes one thing clear: Police Officers Wells and Murphy saved lives," PBA president Patrick Lynch said. "They saved the lives of that domestic violence victim and her children, and they saved each other's lives - all because they had the training, skill and courage of New York City police officers. For anyone questioning whether we need police officers responding to these types of situations, this video is the answer."

Wells suffered a fractured femur, and both officers needed surgery. They were discharged within a few days and received a hero's welcome as they were discharged from the hospital in November.
