Former GOP congressman joins Hunter Biden's team, vows to uncover 'the truth' about infamous laptop

Former Republican Rep. Denver Riggleman is now working with Hunter Biden's legal team.

Riggleman, who represented Virginia for one term in Congress from 2019 to 2021, joined Biden's team last year, according to attorney Kevin Morris, whom CBS News described as a "confidant" of the first son.

"Denver has been assisting us with data analysis since late last year," Morris told CBS News. "He is an invaluable resource and we have made tremendous strides in untangling the massive amount of corruption and disinformation involved in this story. There will be much more coming to the public."

The focus of Riggleman's work is the infamous Hunter Biden laptop in an apparent campaign to delegitimize its contents. CBS News reported:

Riggleman has spent months, those with knowledge said, providing digital forensic analysis for the Biden legal team on whether any data linked to Hunter Biden, such as text messages, has been distorted or fabricated. Data from the left-behind laptop and bank records remain key elements of the Republican investigation of the Biden family.

On Tuesday, Riggleman confirmed his role on Biden's team and questioned the legitimacy of the laptop's contents, which numerous news outlets have authenticated. The FBI seized the laptop in 2019 after obtaining a subpoena for it.

"Truth matters. When I took this job, I wasn’t pro-Hunter or anti-Hunter. I am pro-data and facts. Forensics make clear that considerable information linked to Hunter Biden is questionable," Riggleman said.

"The American people deserve the truth. Sourcing, expert data analysis and facts-based insights are the only way," he added. "I look forward to the truth coming out."

Riggleman, however, did not clarify what "considerable information" from the laptop is "questionable."

Riggleman's services for Biden's team not only include data analytics work, but, according to CBS, "he has also provided the president's son with insights into House Republicans and their methods."

Last year, Riggleman revealed that he had left the Republican Party, claiming on CNN that the GOP "left me some time ago." He also served as a senior staffer for the Jan. 6 committee from August 2021 until April 2022.

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R) celebrated Riggleman's role on Biden's team.
