Tennessee Titans' Hassan Haskins accused of strangling girlfriend for 'liking' another man's Instagram photo

NFL player Hassan Haskins is accused of domestic violence. The Tennessee Titans' backup running back is accused of strangling his girlfriend for allegedly liking a photo on Instagram.

On Thursday, Haskins was arrested in Davidson County and charged with felony aggravated assault by strangulation. His girlfriend was also charged in the incident.

On June 22, Haskins reportedly got into a disagreement with his girlfriend, Makiah Green. The argument began when Haskins noticed that his girlfriend "liked" another man's Instagram photo, according to ESPN.

Green reportedly threw Haskins' shoes on the floor. He allegedly told her to stop, and when she didn't, Haskins shoved her to the ground. Haskins then used both hands to strangle her, according to the police report. The couple allegedly slapped each other.

Green provided police with photos of bruising to her right arm and cheek, red marks on the front of her neck, and a scratch on the side of her neck, according to The Tennessean.

According to the affidavit, Green grabbed a knife and threatened to slash the tires of Haskins' car, but she stopped after Haskins cocked a gun and said, "I wish you would."

There was reportedly a second incident on Thursday.

Haskins allegedly left Green at a restaurant, and she was forced to take a ride-sharing service back home. Upon returning home, Green reportedly threw a glass at Haskins and then hid in the bedroom.

Green reportedly grabbed Haskins' phone and saw Snapchat notifications with photos of naked women. She then shattered Haskins' cell phone, broke his PlayStation 5 video game console, and assaulted him, according to police.

"The Davidson County prosecutor dealing with the case concluded in the affidavit that there is probable cause to believe Haskins did unlawfully strangle Green, and Green did unlawfully damage Haskins' property, place her hands around his neck, and hit him with a broom," The Tennessean reported. Haskins allegedly provided police with videos of Green hitting him with a broom.

Haskins allegedly kicked down the bedroom door, and Green is said to rip a $5,000 chain off the football player's neck.

Green was arrested and reportedly charged with assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism. She posted a $7,500 bond and was released on Thursday.

Haskins, a fourth-round pick out of Michigan in 2022, was released after posting a $10,000 bond on Thursday.

Haskins, 23, and Green, 20, are scheduled for court appearances on July 10.

The Titans released a statement Friday night that read: "We are aware of the situation and gathering additional information."

Last season, Haskins appeared in 15 games for the Titans, including one start. Haskins totaled 25 carries and 93 rushing yards. He returned 19 kickoffs for 414 return yards in 2022.

Democratic state senator accused of punching woman in face, gets arrested. The charges? Offensive touching and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.

A Delaware Democratic state senator was accused of punching a woman in the side of her head amid a domestic dispute Sunday and later was arrested on misdemeanor charges of offensive touching and disorderly conduct.

What are the details?

Delaware State Police said troopers were dispatched to the Taverna Rustic Italian Restaurant in Wilmington around 6:20 p.m., where a 44-year-old woman said state Sen. Darius J. Brown, 39, punched her in the side of her face after the pair began arguing about a social media post.

Police said after Brown assaulted the victim, he got up from the booth where he and the victim were sitting and threw a glass of water, which shattered. Brown then left the restaurant and wasn't there when police arrived.

The victim sustained some redness to the side of her face but did not require any medical attention, police said.

Troopers then obtained warrants for Brown's arrest on misdemeanor charges of offensive touching and disorderly conduct, police said.

Brown turned himself in Tuesday and was processed and arraigned, then released on his own recognizance, although he was given a no-contact order with the victim, police said.

'Presumption of innocence'

Brown was absent from Tuesday's legislative session, and WDEL-FM said he didn't return the station's request for comment.

Dave Sokola — a Democrat and the state Senate's president pro tempore — told WDEL he'd consider taking formal action against Brown but that "presumption of innocence" must be maintained.

"Accusations of domestic violence are serious and in direct conflict with the values of the Delaware Senate Democratic Caucus," Sokola said, according to the station. "However, a presumption of innocence is one of the most sacred principles in the American criminal justice system. I will carefully consider whether any formal actions are warranted in the coming days as we learn more about this incident."

Call for resignation

Jane Brady, chairwoman of the Delaware Republican Party, called for Brown to resign if the allegations are true, according to the Cape Gazette.

"The behavior that has been reported, if true, is reprehensible and warrants his resignation," Brady said in a press release, the paper noted. "If Senator Brown refuses to resign, we call on the Senate to conduct an inquiry and expel him for conduct unbecoming an elected official."

More from the Gazette:

Brady cited to the bipartisan effort to expel former Republican Rep. John Adkins of Millsboro. "The circumstances are remarkably similar to the Adkins matter. In that case, Republicans recognized the need to act and did so. The Democrats should hold the members of their caucus to the same high standard," she said.

In 2006, then Republican representative Atkins, was stopped in Ocean City for suspected driving under the influence and a few hours later was charged with offensive touching in connection with an argument with a former wife. He resigned his seat but was re-elected in 2008, running as a Democrat. Atkins retained the seat by 69 seats in a 2012 challenge by Republican Rich Collins, but lost the seat by 352 votes in 2014 to Collins, who has held the seat since.

'You wanna f***in' play? Let's play!': Intruder kicks in door, allegedly threatens his kids' mother. But woman in home has a gun — and ends threat for good.

A terrifying home surveillance video shows an incensed man walking up to the front door of a home a few miles north of Pensacola, Florida, last week and beginning to kick in the front door.

"F***in' play, bitch? You wanna f***in' play? You wanna f***in' play? Let's play! F***in' bitch!" the man yells into the home before turning his back to the front door and bashing it with the bottom of his boot.

After the 10th kick, he enters the residence and was heard screaming, "Let's f***in' play! Let's f***in' play! You wanna f***in' play with my kids?"

What happened next?

The surveillance clip of the May 5 incident ended at that point, but the Escambia County Sheriff's Office told NorthEscambia.com that once inside, the suspect armed himself with a knife and hollered that he was there to harm his children's mother.

The sheriff's office said the man searched room to room and threatened the occupants who had taken refuge in a bedroom in the back of the house, the outlet said.

The ESCO told NorthEscambia that the man confronted a female in the rear bedroom, who feared for her life, so she shot the intruder twice.

Deputies arrived at the scene just after 5 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a call about a disturbance that included a shooting, the outlet said.

Deputies found a 54-year old man dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, NorthEscambia reported.

At the time of the incident, the outlet said the suspect had an active domestic violence injunction filed on him, adding that investigators said he was reportedly on his way to anger management when it all went down.

Now what?

The sheriff's department said charges will not be filed against the individual who shot and killed the intruder, NorthEscambia noted.

"Florida State statute allows people to take reasonable steps to protect themselves from harm," Sheriff Chip Simmons said, according to the outlet. "You can see from the video; his demeanor and intent were clear. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office will defend a person's right to reasonably protect themselves against harm, even with the use of deadly force. We do not intend to bring charges against the occupant of the home."

No names have been released in relation to the incident, NorthEscambia added.

Illinois family grew suspicious of a relative visiting with strange duffel bags. When they looked inside they made a gruesome discovery.

An Illinois family made a gruesome discovery when they grew suspicious of what a visiting relative had in his duffel bags. Police said charges are pending against the man.

The disturbing incident unfolded in Markham, Illinois, a suburb south of Chicago.

The family welcomed their son visiting from Kentucky a few days before Tuesday when they called the police, according to a report from WLT-TV.

The man had arrived with several duffel bags, but the family thought it was strange that he kept asking for clothing, but never unpacked his bags.

They also noticed a foul odor coming from the bags.

When the son left the home to visit the local Markham Public Library on Tuesday, a family members saw their opportunity to look into the bags and to their horror, they discovered severed human body parts.

Police arrested the man at the library after they were contacted by the family. They identified him as Melvin Martin Jr., who is 30 years old.

The family said that the man had ridden the Greyhound Bus from Kentucky to Chicago with the severed body parts allegedly in his duffel bags for the five hour trip.

The bags were in the home for several days after he arrived.

Investigators said that the woman died as a result of a domestic dispute with the man in Kentucky. He then allegedly dismembered her body and held on to her remains for about 30 days before visiting his family near Chicago.

They said he had been carrying some of her internal organs, other body parts, and her head when he took the trip.

Police said that Martin was cooperating with their investigation, and that he gave them the location of the rest of the remains of the woman. They did not release the identity of the victim, but said that she had been living in the same residence as Martin.
