Cenk Uygur experiences leftist intolerance firsthand after volunteering to help Trump admin

Cenk Uygur of "The Young Turks" appears to have undergone a rapid metamorphosis in recent weeks. Months after calling the once and future president "an actual fascist" and a "mad king," Uygur asked to join the incoming Trump administration.

Leftists immediately attacked Uygur over his willingness to serve at the pleasure of a Republican he just days ago characterized as "unstable and unhinged." Some fellow travelers suggested that the progressive host was an insincere turncoat, while others concluded he was just another opportunistic talking head.

Ultimately, Uygur was provided with a clear demonstration of the left's intolerance and the right's relative openness.

Uygur — whose interest was evidently piqued by the promise of Trump's Department of Government Efficiency — tweeted Monday, "Hey @elonmusk, put me in charge of the Pentagon. I'll slash $400B easy. That'll get you 20% to your goal of $2T, right out of the gate. I went to Wharton three years before you. I own a media company, so I know how to run a business. If you really want to cut, put me in, coach."

Elon Musk, whom Uygur attacked on Election Day, responded, "Specific suggestions are welcome."

Afforded the opportunity to chime in — something Uygur later noted no Democratic leader had ever asked him to do — Uygur recommended precluding generals from acquiring jobs with defense contractors for 10 years, noting, "They authorize so much wasteful spending because they're going to get hired by those same companies."

Donald Trump Jr., magnanimous despite Uygur having viciously attacked his father for years, tweeted, "This is a great idea that has been discussed."

'Knock it the f*** off.'

The positive engagement stunned Uygur and enraged his fellow travelers.

Emma Vigeland, a former fan of Uygur who hosted "TYT Politics," was among the leftists who couldn't stand the thought of her former boss cooperating with the Trump administration, writing, "Why does your assessment of politics change based on who pays attention to you, specifically a billionaire?"

"Holy s***. This ain't it. You're talking about the 'lock her up,' 'retribution' guy?" wrote Joanne Carducci, the host of "Are You F'ng Kidding Me? with JoJoFromJerz." "Do not obey in advance, Cenk. Knock it the f*** off."

Another leftist podcast host tweeted, "Amazing to watch some of these life-long progressives line up, one after the other on bended knee to kiss the ring."

'Now, which side seems more open and inclusive?'

Even Uygur's nephew, Hasan Piker — a radical who justified the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks and insinuated the terrorists' civilian victims were "criminals" — lashed out, writing, "This is preferring someone to lie to you rather than one who doesn[']t even do that."

Uygur suggested that effective pragmatism was better than political impotence.

"While the left is yelling at me not to work with MAGA, here's @DonaldJTrumpJR saying we should limit generals from working for defense contractors," wrote Uygur. "That's a policy we've been pushing for and gotten nowhere with Democrats on. Who cares who does it as long as it gets done?"

"A little common sense never killed anyone," wrote Donald Trump Jr.

"Now, which side seems more open and inclusive? Which side seems more welcoming and which side tries really hard to drive you away if you disagree even a little with orthodoxy? Which side is asking for suggestions and which one is demanding compliance and obedience?" added Uygur.

While numerous liberals criticized the progressive media host, Uygur was flooded with messages of welcome from Trump supporters and other right-leaning populists.

Reactions to Vance's debate performance tell the story: 'Most lopsided vice presidential debate ever'

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) faced off against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) Tuesday night for the vice presidential debate in New York City. In an uncustomarily civil engagement by recent standards, the two men advanced disparate visions for America, traded barbs, and demonstrated — or tried to demonstrate — their value to their respective running mates.

Despite efforts by the CBS News moderators to help Walz and hinder Vance, it quickly became clear — even to liberal talking heads — that the Democratic governor was grossly outmatched.

In response to Van Jones calling Vance "slick, slick, slick" after the debate, fellow CNN panelist David Urban said, "Ten out of ten for JD Vance. Ten strike. ... He landed a lot of good punches, but he did so with an iron fist in a velvet glove. He was very smooth. He was likeable. He looked presidential."

Donald Trump Jr., who leaned on his father to choose Vance as his running mate, told CNN, "I thought it was a master class. It was just an incredible performance — just real command of the facts."

Fox News' Kayleigh McEnany wrote, "JD Vance was very clearly a masterful pick for Vice President. His heartfelt response to questions and kind demeanor was very powerful. Really excellent judgment by @DonaldJTrumpJr and all those instrumental to the pick."

'I've never seen a national candidate look as nervous as Tim Walz.'

New York Times columnist Ross Douthat noted that the debate revealed why Vance was a great choice of running mate for Trump, stressing that the Ohio senator delivered "one of the best debating performances by a Republican nominee for president or vice president in recent memory and making a case for Trump's record far more effectively than Trump has ever been capable of doing."

"You've got a tough job here. You've got to pretend that Donald Trump didn't deliver rising take-home pay, which of course he did," Vance said during the debate.

"You've got to pretend that Donald Trump didn't deliver lower inflation, which of course he did," continued the senator. "And then you've got to defend Kamala Harris' atrocious economic record, which has made gas, groceries, and housing unaffordable for American citizens."

Extra to defending Trump's record and contrasting his running mate's successes with Harris' failures, Vance, who managed a chipper tone throughout, steamrolled Walz for much of the debate.

Walz often proved incapable of hiding his panic, such as when Vance raised the matter of censorship and extracted an admission from the governor that a Harris-Walz administration would criminalize speech deemed hateful.

On another occasion when Walz again looked utterly beaten, Vance said, "You blame Donald Trump. Who has been the vice president for the last three and a half years? And the answer is your running mate, not mine."

National Review editor Rich Lowry later noted, "I've never seen a national candidate look as nervous as Tim Walz when he's not speaking."

"Walz looks rusty and nervous," wrote Josh Rogin of the Washington Post. "Maybe he should have done some press interviews to better prepare."

In an apparent attempt to expedite several of the beatings, Walz simply nodded in agreement and in one case rushed to surrender. When it came to addressing his lie about being in Hong Kong during the pro-democracy protests at Tiananmen Square in 1989, he admitted he was a "knucklehead" prone to getting "caught up in the rhetoric."

Rachel Maddow said after the debate that she "wouldn't describe them as evenly matched." Her fellow MSNBC talking head Chris Hayes admitted, "JD Vance is very good at this."

'My condolences to Tim Walz.'

Although loath to pay Vance a real compliment, Ben Davis of the Guardian, a leftist British publication, wrote, "This project — nationalism, protectionism, welfare chauvinism, and a sort of communitarian-sounding social conservatism — floundered two years ago with candidates like Blake Masters or Vance himself. Vance was able to maneuver it to sound almost moderate and reasonable."

Jacobin founding editor Bhaskar Sunkara admitted that Vance "overall gave a slightly stronger performance."

Polling expert Frank Luntz ran a focus group during the debate with over a dozen people, only five of whom were leaning toward supporting President Donald Trump and Vance at the outset. He noted that the final vote was 12-2 in favor of Vance.

There was a similar response on the betting website Polymarket. Shortly after the debate began, confidence in Walz's ability to win the debate bottomed out.

According to CBS News' own polling data, Vance not only won the debate but saw his favorability rating jump afterward.

Lawmakers also recognized Vance's clear victory.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) wrote, "Most lopsided vice presidential debate ever. JD Vance was on his game. Tim Walz was nervous, uninformed, and didn't explain why he lies all the time."

"JD Vance won big and demonstrated why he was a fantastic pick by President Trump," wrote Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.). "He skillfully contrasted Trump's record of peace and prosperity with Kamala's record of disaster."

Vivek Ramaswamy tweeted, "Very proud of JD for a stellar performance tonight. And my condolences to Tim Walz - it was unkind for them to put him in this position."

El Salvador's Nayib Bukele lauds America's founding ideals, throws shade at modern America in July 4th message

As people around the U.S. marked July 4th, El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele noted that Salvadorans take inspiration from the founding ideals of the U.S., but not from the ideals of modern America.

"Congratulations to the people of the United States of America on your Independence Day. We are inspired by you, not by the ideals you hold now, but by the ideals you had in 1776 when you gained your freedom and built the foundations of your great country. We will follow that example. Happy 4th of July!" Bukele declared in a post.

— (@)

"This is one of many reasons why I love @NayibBukele," GOP Sen. Mike Lee of Utah tweeted in response to Bukele's post.

Bukele includes the words "Philosopher King" in his profile on X.

'He is the most inspirational head of state in the Western Hemisphere by far.'

A number of Americans attended Bukele's latest inauguration last month, among them, Lee, who tweeted, "In El Salvador for the inauguration of President Nayib Bukele. He defeated his principal opponent, Manuel Flores, in February’s presidential election. To the best of my knowledge, Bukele made no attempt to imprison Flores."

Lee wrote in another tweet, "Thank you, President Bukele, for a delightful afternoon and an engaging conversation. Sharon and I enjoyed every minute of our time with you, and of our visit to your beautiful country."

"That man loves his country," Lee said of Bukele.

"It was an honor to attend the inauguration of President @nayibbukele in El Salvador with @DonaldJTrumpJr @TuckerCarlson and countless conservatives who support President Bukele's bold vision. He is the most inspirational head of state in the Western Hemisphere by far," Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida tweeted last month.

'Great news for Americans still stuck in Afghanistan': Lawmaker sarcastically tweets after State Department issues first passport with gender 'X' marker

The U.S. State Department announced that it has issued the first passport with an "X" gender marker, a non-specific designation that will eventually be available as an option to others.

"The Department has issued the first U.S. passport with an X gender marker. We look forward to offering this option to all routine passport applicants once we complete the required system and form updates in early 2022," department spokesperson Ned Price said in a news statement.

"Great news for Americans still stuck in Afghanistan," Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas sarcastically tweeted regarding the news.

— Dan Crenshaw (@DanCrenshawTX) 1635344751.0

Earlier this year, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the department intends to roll out the option of a non-specific gender marker for nonbinary, intersex, and gender non-conforming people, but noted that it would take time to make this option available.

"Most immediately, we will be updating our procedures to allow applicants to self-select their gender as 'M' or 'F' and will no longer require medical certification if an applicant's self-selected gender does not match the gender on their other citizenship or identity documents," Blinken noted in that June 30 statement.

The Biden administration has been a strong proponent of radical gender ideology.

"When a person obtains identity documents that reflect their true identity, they live with greater dignity and respect," said Jessica Stern, U.S. special diplomatic envoy for LGBTQ rights, according to the Associated Press.

Last week, the State Department issued a tweet marking International Pronouns Day and on Tuesday, the department recognized Intersex Awareness Day.

A U.S. Department of Health and Human Services news release last week described HHS Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine as the "first-ever female four-star admiral" in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

"The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) publicly announced today the nation's first openly transgender four-star officer across any of the eight uniformed services of the United States," the release declared. "Admiral Rachel Levine, who serves as the HHS Assistant Secretary for Health and head of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps, was ceremonially sworn in as a four-star admiral. Admiral Levine now serves as the highest ranking official in the USPHS Commissioned Corps and its first-ever female four-star admiral."

Levine, a transgender woman, is a biological male who identifies as a female.

Commenting on the news that the State Department issued the first passport with a gender "X" marker, Donald Trump Jr. tweeted, "I see that our super serious State Department is really addressing the most pressing and important issues of our time."

'Greatest correction in the history of journalism!': Donald Trump Jr. hails WaPo after it says crowd at September speech was chanting 'F*** Joe Biden!' not 'Let's Go Brandon'

Donald Trump Jr. is hailing a correction from the Washington Post after the outlet said it had inaccurately reported that a crowd chanted "Let's go Brandon" at a Trump Jr. speech last month in Georgia. The crowd had actually chanted "F*** Joe Biden!," according to the Post.

"Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly said a crowd broke into a "Let's go Brandon" chant during a Donald Trump Jr. speech in Georgia. The crowd broke into a "F--- Joe Biden!" chant at that speech in September. The error, which was inserted by an editor, has been corrected," the outlet explained.

"This is the greatest correction in the history of journalism!" Trump Jr. tweeted. "Thanks @washingtonpost."

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) 1635093311.0

The expression "Let's go Brandon" has rapidly become a popular euphemism for the profane expression "F*** Joe Biden."

Early in October as an NBC Sports reporter interviewed Brandon Brown who had just won a NASCAR race, crowds could be heard chanting "F*** Joe Biden."

"Brandon, you also told me, as you can hear the chants from the, the crowd—let's go Brandon," the reporter said amid the crowd's profane chant.

In the days since then, the expression "Let's go Brandon" has been embraced by many Biden opponents and become quite popular.

Last week, U.S. Rep. Bill Posey (R-Florida) interjected the phrase at the conclusion of a floor speech.

"Driving through Virginia this morning and I see plenty of 'Let's Go Brandon' signs," Newsmax White House correspondent Emerald Robinson tweeted on Monday morning.

"South Carolina @RepJeffDuncan just walked off the floor with a "Let's Go Brandon" mask on," Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News tweeted on Monday evening.

Navarro says Fauci and CNN have 'blood' on their hands after study shows hydroxychloroquine doubles COVID survival rate

Former Trump adviser Peter Navarro has strong words for Dr. Anthony Fauci and far-left network CNN for dismissing the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine against COVID-19, after a new study found that treatments of the malaria drug combined with zinc more than doubled the survival rate of coronavirus patients on ventilators.

Navarro says Fauci and CNN have blood on their hands.

What are the details?

"I had 60 million tablets of HCQ that Tony Fauci and @cc wouldn't allow the American public to use because of their Hydroxy Hysteria," Navarro tweeted on Thursday. "Blood on @JohnBerman @cnn and Saint Fauci's hands. More than 50,000 Americans would be alive today."

The economist shared a link to an article by The Daily Mail, titled, "Was Trump right about hydroxychloroquine all along? New study shows drug touted by former president can increase COVID survival rates by 200%."

— Peter Navarro (@RealPNavarro) 1623335312.0

The Mail pointed to an observational study on 255 COVID-19 patients published in medRxiv on May 31, that was conducted by Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey. The study, which has not been peer-reviewed, concluded that "when the cumulative doses" of hydroxychloroquine and zinc "were above a certain level, patients had a survival rate 2.9 times the other patients."

What's the background?

Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic last year, then-President Donald Trump touted hydroxychloroquine as a promising treatment against the virus.

Germany's Bayer pharmaceutical company in turn donated three million doses of the anti-malarial to the U.S., as health care providers were already treating coronavirus patients with hydroxychloroquine-based treatments in France, China, and other nations, MarketWatch reported at the time.

The Washington Examiner noted Trump's promotion of HCQ "earned him pushback from medical experts, including his own White House coronavirus team member Dr. Anthony Fauci, and political pundits who dismissed his claims and maintained the drug was ineffective."

The new study on HCQ's effectiveness comes as Trump has seen a series of apparent vindications in recent days, which was not lost on his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.

The younger Trump tweeted Wednesday, "In the last week alone, we've learned that the media, so-called fact checkers and their Big Tech enforcers lied to us about the lab-leak theory, Hydroxychloroquine and the clearing of Lafayette Square. All to hurt Donald Trump. What else are they lying about?"

Longtime CNN contributor tweets, 'The world today needs a Hitler'; has history of anti-Semitism

A longtime contributor to CNN found himself in hot water after tweeting, "The world today needs a Hitler." The inflammatory tweet, which could be interpreted as a call for the extermination of the Jewish people, was posted to Twitter on Sunday amidst the rising tensions and violence between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East.

The CNN contributor quickly deleted the post, but it sparked social media users to comb through his Twitter profile. Adeel Raja, who has written dozens of articles for CNN, also appears to have a history of posting ant-Semitic messages on Twitter.

Donald Trump Jr. posted screenshots of the "Hitler" tweet as well as a CNN article that indicates Raja as a co-author, and his LinkedIn profile, where he describes himself as a "Freelance Contributor at CNN."

"Hey @cnn this seems to be one of yours, but I imagine that surprises no one anymore," Trump wrote.

The now-deleted "The world today needs a Hitler" tweet was just the tip of the iceberg. There were other tweets praising the murderous Nazi leader.

"The only reason I am supporting Germany in the finals — Hitler was a German and he did good with those Jews!" Raja wrote during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Another tweet from 2014 read, "My support for Germany is for what Hitler did to the Jews!"

One tweet from Raja's verified Twitter account said, "Hail Hitler!"

Raja responded to a Twitter user calling for "Palestinian genocide....inner Hitler among Germans must resurface," by enthusiastically tweeting, "Hell yeah!!!!!"

In another Twitter post, Raja urged terrorist groups to go to Israel, "ISIS, TTP, TALIBAN - please go to Israel ASAP!"

Twitter accused of pushing Soviet-style spin after targeting Donald Trump Jr.'s anti-Biden tweet

Twitter was compared to Pravda, the Soviet Union's propaganda newspaper, on Friday after spinning a tweet from Donald Trump Jr.

What did Trump Jr. say?

Trump Jr. responded on Friday to Democrats who keep comparing President Joe Biden to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the Democrat who was elected president four times.

Liberals like Jonathan Alter, for example, cite Biden's COVID-19 response and Biden's aggressive push to expand the role of government with ambitious multi-trillion dollar legislative packages. "Whatever the future holds, Mr. Biden and Mr. Roosevelt are now fused in history by the size and breadth of their progressive ambitions," Alter recently wrote in the New York Times.

According to Trump Jr., Biden is no FDR.

"Biden isn't the next FDR he's the next Jimmy Carter," Trump Jr. tweeted.

Biden isn’t the next FDR he’s the next Jimmy Carter.

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) 1620403426.0

The comparison was made after April's jobs report showed just 266,000 jobs were added last month, falling way short of the 1 million that experts predicted. The dismal showing resulted in the unemployment rate going up.

As TheBlaze reported, unemployment levels remain about 8 million jobs short of pre-pandemic levels, but not because of a lack of available jobs. Despite "now hiring" signs being peppered on businesses across the nation, businesses are having difficulty finding enough workers because many of those left unemployed by the pandemic are making more money on enhanced unemployment than they would at work.

What did Twitter do?

In response, Twitter claimed people were "confused" by Trump Jr.'s tweet.

"People are confused by a Tweet from Donald Trump Jr, saying that President Biden 'isn't the next FDR he's the next Jimmy Carter,' given that former president Carter is a Nobel Peace Prize winner whose humanitarian record is largely respected," Twitter wrote in its "trending" section.

Trump Jr. then explained exactly what his tweet meant — as if anyone did not already understand the implied meaning.

"Anyone who is supposedly 'confused,' by my below tweet should probably read the awful Biden job report out today, then take a peek at the rising prices of raw materials that we're seeing and then finally google 'Jimmy Carter inflation'....Things will make a lot more sense to you!" Trump Jr. explained.

What was the response?

Twitter was accused of spreading propaganda.

"Twitter's editorial voice is basically late Soviet if Pravda were run by concern trolls," New York Times writer Ross Douthat said.

"This is the way @Twitter works. And the propagandists in DC are just as bad," Richard Grenell reacted.

"What has Twitter become? It obviously wants to play a very active partisan role," political scientist Max Abrahms said.

"95% of people know exactly what it means to compare a president to Jimmy Carter and the other 5% are playing dumb," Frank Fleming, a Babylon Bee writer, said.

Pennsylvania county responds after viral videos show poll workers filling out ballots

Viral videos circulating on the internet purport to show poll workers in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, filling out blank ballots as the state continues to count votes critical to determining the winner of the presidential race between President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

But the county has provided an explanation for what is going, and Reuters, PolitiFact, and USA Today have all found the allegations of fraud to be false.

What are the details?

One video shows a male poll worker in a black shirt appearing to fill out ballots and stamp them while he is sitting across from a female worker who is wearing a grey sweater. Two other female workers can be seen sitting next to the pair at a nearby separate table.

🚨🚨🚨Caught on camera. Poll worker in Pennsylvania filling out ballots. No #VoterFraud here... .@DonaldJTrumpJr .… https://t.co/EAwQf2VGjr
— Bill Paul (@Bill Paul)1604683084.0

A second video shows one of the women at the second table filling out ballots.

Delaware County responded in a press release, confirming that the footage was recorded on its official live stream while saying that the viral footage had been "altered" and that "some residents" are "making false accusations" about what the video shows. The county did not specify which video was allegedly altered, but it did point out:

The actual video shows the election worker at a table with other coworkers in a room full of people with bipartisan observers a few feet away at each end of the table, closely observing the worker from approximately 6 feet away. This arrangement was agreed upon between the Election Bureau and the former Republican Chairman of Delaware County Council, acting in his capacity as counsel for the Delaware County Republican Party.

The county shared a screenshot showing the same workers, and the observers monitoring the process.

Image source: Delaware County Pennsylvania government website

The county explains:

During the processing of ballots, a machine extractor opens the ballots. Some ballots were damaged by the extractor during this process in such a way that the ballots could not be scanned successfully. According to the scanner manufacturer, Hart, the best practice to deal with damaged ballots that cannot be scanned is to transcribe the votes on each ballot to a clean ballot and scan the clean ballot. In accordance with that guidance, the Chief Clerk of the Delaware County Bureau of Elections instructed elections staff to manually transcribe the damaged ballots. As ballots were being transcribed, the original damaged ballots were directly beside the new ballots and bipartisan observers witnessed the process at close range. Damaged ballots have been preserved.

A third video also taken from Delaware County's live stream shows an overhead view of a different female poll worker filling out ballots while sitting directly across from a male worker wearing a long-sleeved plaid shirt.

The woman can clearly be seen filling out several ballots and stamping them, as a man narrating (while viewing on a computer) can be heard saying, "This lady is marking the ballots. I filmed her a half hour ago doing six, and she's still working at it."

A uniformed law enforcement officer can be seen walking by at one point, and the narrator says, "And there's a security guard right there who's watching her. The cops are in on it! Disgusting."

But it does appear that the male poll worker in the video is reading off one (presumably damaged) ballot to the female worker who is filling out the blank ballots. TheBlaze has called and emailed Delaware County for further clarity on the process.

Poll workers in PA Filling Out Ballotswww.youtube.com

TheBlaze has not yet been able to determine who is narrating the video, but it does show the Delaware County live stream web address, and its multiple cameras.

Anything else?

President Trump has alleged that fraud is occurring in Pennsylvania and other states, as he has seen his lead eaten away in a number of states as election workers continue to conduct vote counts.

TheBlaze asked the Trump Campaign to confirm that its observers were, in fact, watching this process and that the people shown in the picture provided by the county were, in fact, Trump campaign observerse. The campaign has not yet commented specifically on the videos from Delaware County, and has not yet responded to TheBlaze's request for comment.

Eggs allegedly thrown at children during rally supporting President Trump: 'This is what the Democrat party represents'

Delaware State Police on Monday told TheBlaze that "during a Republican Political Rally" Sunday outside the Crossroads Restaurant in Wilmington, three males between the ages of 20 and 25 drove by and threw eggs at the crowd standing near the roadway.

Police said three children and three adults were struck, no injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made amid the active investigation.

'I wanted to show you what these hateful liberals did to a little child'

Lauren Witzke, a Republican candidate from Delaware for U.S. Senate, hosted the event supporting President Donald Trump. Witzke posted a video on her Twitter page that she said showed the aftermath, including a little girl with eggshells in her hair and a little boy with egg on his shirt.

"I wanted to show you what these hateful liberals did to a little child," Witzke said in the clip as the video camera focused on top of the girl's head. "They drove by, and they threw eggs at little children."

Witzke added that the rally participants were waiting for police and had the license plate of the egg-throwers' vehicle.

"This is a hate crime right here," she said, adding that "little children [are] getting egged" "just for being conservative."

Witzke also said, "This is what the Democrat Party represents, this is what the Democrat party allows" and that "we have to build something better for our children and their future, because the radical left will throw eggs at little children, the radical left will throw profanities at little children."

How did folks react?

Of course a number of folks were upset at the alleged egging incident, but others had different points of view:

  • "Stop putting kids in the line of fire," one commenter wrote. "Children are not props. Your whole message is lost when you have these children in harm's way. Now you use them as a prop. Manipulate peoples emotion to fit your view. You are a piece of s**t."
  • "I'm pro-Trump, but using that poor wee girl to make a point is unacceptable," another commenter said. "Instead of standing over her and sticking a phone in her face ... she should have been held and comforted. Eggs hurt when you're hit by one. And clearly her eye was bothering her. Shame on you."
  • "Eggs are better than pepper spray," another detractor noted.

But there was plenty of pushback on such perspectives, too, as one commenter noted, "If this were the other way around, there would be a mic in every conservative congressman's face asking whether or not they denounced it. NO Democrat in Congress or running for office is ever asked to comment on stuff like this."

Haven't we seen this movie before?

In late August, two women in Wilmington were caught on video ripping up pro-Trump signs and stealing a red "Make America Great Again" hat while a 7-year-old boy cried and chased after them near the venue for the virtual Democratic National Convention.

And last week, Olivia Winslow and Camryn Amy — both 21 and from Wilmington — were indicted by a New Castle County grand jury on charges of second-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree assault, attempted third-degree assault, offensive touching, and felony hate crimes, Delaware Online reported.

At one point the boy sees another hat on the ground, and when he goes to retrieve it, one of the women actually appears to stomp her foot to prevent him from picking it up. The video doesn't show whether she makes contact with the boy's hand:

But when a man the mother apparently knows attempts to intervene, the same woman appears to hit him in the face:
