Wild video shows alleged drunk driver with drink in hand leading cops on chase through busy parking lot, crashing into cars

A video of an alleged drunk driver leading cops on a chase through a busy parking lot in Texas has gone viral. Video shows the woman holding a drink as she evades police and crashes into other cars. In the end, the woman is smiling and making jokes as she's arrested.

Around 2 p.m. Thursday, Audrey Marie Schneider recklessly drove around the parking lot of a shopping center in San Antonio. The nearly five-minute video shows the 37-year-old leading police on a chase while driving her white Toyota SUV.

'Oh no. I’m about to see something traumatic happen in front of me.'

According to authorities, the police chase began in Comal County, continued on a highway, and concluded in the shopping plaza in Bexar County. WOAI-TV reported that a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to pull Schneider over on Interstate 35 in Comal County. However, Schneider allegedly sped away from the trooper.

During the pursuit by multiple police cruisers, Schneider made several laps around a shopping center parking lot, which put pedestrians at risk.

The viral video captured by freelance photographer Alec Dyer shows Schneider driving erratically in the parking lot and crashing into other vehicles, including police cruisers.

Dyer told KSAT, "It felt really surreal. I couldn’t even believe it."

"Just witnessing that, I was, like, mentally preparing, ‘Oh no. I’m about to see something traumatic happen in front of me,‘“ Dyer added. “The whole time I’m thinking, ‘Oh no! At this rate, she’s gonna kill somebody. She’s gonna hurt somebody.‘”

Video shows Schneider holding up a drink during the police chase in the parking lot.

Eventually, police corner Schneider's SUV. However, Schneider is seen attempting to evade police by fleeing into a business in the plaza.

Soon police are seen escorting Schneider out of a store in handcuffs. Schneider's clothes appear to be drenched in liquid, and she has dark marks on both sides of her face.

No injuries were reported.

A smiling Schneider says, "I'm so sorry."

A bystander is on video asking police: "Hey, she threw a can of beer on me, can I press charges?"

Schneider is seen on video responding, "Yes, please do. I double-dog dare you."

Schneider is heard telling the onlookers: "I'm back, bitches."

While being pinned to the hood of a police cruiser, she also said, "Santa is coming."

The San Antonio Express-News reported that emergency medical services checked Schneider before she was taken to Bexar County Jail.

In her mugshot, Schneider flashes a smile.

Schneider was charged with driving while intoxicated with an open alcohol container, assaulting a peace officer, evading arrest in a vehicle, as well as two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.

According to KSAT, this wasn't Schneider’s first incident involving driving and alcohol.

In 2017, Schneider faced a charge of obstruction of a highway while intoxicated, the station reported.

Records show the charge was dismissed after she was granted deferred adjudication.

Chick-fil-A workers spot motorist in drive-thru who smells of alcohol — and their alarm heightens when they see his passenger

Quick-thinking employees at a Chick-fil-A in New Jersey may have saved a 6-year-old girl from danger, according to police.

A male motorist went to the drive-thru of the Turnersville fast-food joint with his 6-year-old daughter in his pickup truck.

One of the officers allegedly distracted the daughter so she wouldn't see her father being arrested.

Fast-acting Chick-fil-A workers allegedly noticed the motorist in the drive-thru smelled of alcohol — as well as spotting the young child in his vehicle.

“They smelled alcohol on his breath, and they were able to see all that alcohol inside the car,” Washington Township Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik told WTXF-TV.

The outlet reported that there was an open beer can in the car — plus a 30-pack of beer, and a trash bag full of empty alcohol containers.

Bodycam video shows officers retrieving the alcohol from the vehicle.

The female Chick-fil-A employee who smelled the alcohol allegedly informed the manager, who in turn contacted police.

In order to prevent the driver from getting back on the roads and potentially causing an accident, Chick-fil-A employees reportedly informed the driver to pull over and wait for his order.

While waiting for his food, police officers made it to restaurant within five minutes and approached the driver before he departed.

Chief Gurcsik noted that the man was "extremely cooperative" with law enforcement.

Upon arrival at the Chick-fil-A, police conducted field sobriety tests — which the driver reportedly failed. The driver took a breathalyzer test that reportedly revealed a blood-alcohol level of .16 — twice the legal limit.

The driver was heard telling cops on the police bodycam footage, "I was just trying to go home and get to bed, you know?"

Police arrested the driver.

One of the officers allegedly distracted the daughter so she wouldn't see her father being arrested.

Officers occupied the 6-year-old girl with food until her grandfather could pick her up.

Gurcsik said, "It could have been a tragic ending for another family or for this family — who we essentially helped Saturday night by taking him off the road."

A manager for the Chick-fil-A restaurant in Turnersville declined to provide a comment to WTXF.

Colony Ridge co-owner pleads guilty to drunk driving

Colony Ridge co-owner pleads guilty to drunk driving

A notorious land developer in southeastern Texas has pled guilty to drunk driving even as his company faces continued scrutiny from state and federal officials.

On Tuesday, William "Trey" Harris, who co-owns Colony Ridge with brother John Harris, pled guilty to two counts of driving while intoxicated in connection with two separate incidents that occurred within the past seven months.

Harris headed out to turn himself in for the unknown infraction, but along the way, he ran into some of his 'law enforcement buddies,' who then escorted him to jail.

The first incident occurred on November 3, when Harris was arrested for misdemeanor DWI. In this case, he was assessed a class A misdemeanor, the most severe, because his blood alcohol level exceeded .15, or more than twice the legal limit.

Three months later, Harris was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI once again. However, this time, he was assessed a class B misdemeanor because his blood alcohol level was likely not as elevated.

After both arrests, Harris quickly paid bail and was released from jail. He was then arrested a third time on May 17, one day after his bail for those DWI cases was revoked. The Houston Landing suggested that the sudden bail revocation may have come because Harris "failed to appear for a court appearance or violated the terms of his release."

His lawyer, Bryan Cantrell, told the outlet that on May 16, Harris headed out to turn himself in for the unknown infraction, but along the way, he ran into some of his "law enforcement buddies," who then escorted him to jail. He has remained in jail ever since.

Harris' plea agreement with prosecutors sentences him to 45 days in jail including time already served. He must also pay a $12,000 fine and avoid driving a car at least until November. County Court at Law Judge Tracy Sorensen has since approved the agreement.

"He just wanted to get this resolved," Cantrell told the Landing.

While Harris' DWI trouble may soon be over, the lingering lawsuits against Colony Ridge aren't going away anytime soon. Located about a half-hour from Houston and dubbed "the world's largest trailer park," residents in and around Colony Ridge have complained about inadequate infrastructure and unsafe living conditions in the development for about a decade, as Blaze News reported earlier this year.

Though local and county officials have done little to address the problems at Colony Ridge, the development now faces lawsuits from the U.S. Department of Justice and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Both lawsuits claim that the Harris brothers and others affiliated with Colony Ridge have engaged in predatory and fraudulent lending practices that have particularly victimized illegal aliens, who comprise at least 50% of the Colony Ridge population, according to some estimates.

Trey Harris' brother, John, spoke with Blaze Media cofounder Glenn Beck in a Blaze Originals documentary about Colony Ridge. To see that and other Blaze Originals episodes, subscribe to BlazeTV here. A trailer to the Colony Ridge episode can be seen below:

Bruce Springsteen was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in November, authorities say

Legendary left-wing rocker Bruce Springsteen was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in November, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.

What are the details?

Springsteen was arrested Nov. 14 at New Jersey's Gateway National Recreation Area — aka Sandy Hook — and charges included driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and consuming alcohol in a closed area, NBC News reported, citing National Park Service spokeswoman Brenda Ling.

TMZ first reported the arrest Wednesday, saying it doesn't appear Springsteen has prior DWI arrests.

Ling told NBC News that Springsteen was cooperative throughout the process. Springsteen's representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment, the network reported.

Gateway is federal property, which means Springsteen, 71, has a Newark Federal Court appearance ahead of him, the New York Daily News reported, adding that he lives near the park in Colts Neck.

More from the Daily News:

Under New Jersey law, a DWI first offense carries a fine of $250-$400, installation of an ignition interlock for three months, a pair of six-hour sessions at the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center and a $1,000 car insurance surcharge for three years.

The ignition device measures a driver's blood alcohol level to prevent drunken drivers from getting back behind the wheel.

Springsteen on Sunday appeared in a Super Bowl commercial for Jeep, which drew quite a bit of attention as he called for a bitterly divided America to unite — which might seem a bit strange given he called for an "exorcism" in Washington, D.C., in October while former President Donald Trump was still in office.

Springsteen versus Trump

The rocker's disdain for Trump has been going on for quite some time:

Springsteen performed for President Joe Biden's inauguration last month, the Daily News said.

Anything else?

NBC News cited Springsteen's 2016 autobiography, "Born to Run," in which the iconic rocker said he avoided drugs and didn't try alcohol until he was 22, in part because how he saw how drinking affected his father.

"He's in good shape by not doing drugs. It's something he doesn't have to preach about. He's a living example of what happens when you never do drugs your whole life," Springsteen's E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt told Rolling Stone in 2012, the network said.

"I mean, I'm sure he's taken a drink or two a few times in his life, but he was never a drinker either. And he eats right and he's in the gym. Well, that's what happens," Van Zandt added in the piece, according to NBC News. "Don't do drugs. Don't drink, eat right, go to the gym and you can rock & roll at 62, too."

Springsteen also discussed his battles with depression in his autobiography. "I was crushed between 60 and 62, good for a year, and out again from 63 to 64," he wrote, according to The Guardian. "Not a good record. Patti will observe a freight train bearing down, loaded with nitroglycerin and running quickly out of track … she gets me to the doctors and says: 'This man needs a pill.'"
