Canadian professor mask-shames flight attendant but it backfires spectacularly as he suffers complete meltdown

A Canadian professor mask-shamed a United Airlines flight attendant, but it backfired spectacularly when he suffered a complete meltdown online.

Amir Attaran is a professor in the Faculties of Law and School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. On Saturday, Attaran was aboard a United Airlines flight from Ottawa to Chicago, Illinois. Attaran saw that one of the flight attendants was not wearing a face mask – which goes against Canada's current travel restrictions that require travelers wear face masks when departing from Canada.

Attaran took multiple photos of the flight attendant and posted them on Twitter with the caption: "Hey @United, why are you breaking the law? Masks are required on all flights out of Canada. Your flight attendant isn’t wearing one! This is UA3737 in Ottawa right now."

Attaran attempted to get the flight attendant in trouble by tagging the official Twitter account for United Airlines.

United Airlines responded on Twitter, "Hi Amir, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We've informed the appropriate teams for further review."

Plus, Attaran tagged the official Twitter accounts for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada's transportation department, the Air Passenger Rights organization, as well as Canadian news outlets Global News, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and Globe and Mail.

“Hey @United, why are you breaking the law? Masks are required on all flights out of Canada. Your flight attendant isn’t wearing one! This is UA3737 in Ottawa right now. @rcmpgrcpolice @Transport_gc @AirPassRightsCA @CBCPolitics @globeandmail @globalnews”

Attaran spoke with the flight attendant after he mask-shamed her on his Twitter account.

"In Chicago now. Had a friendly chat with the flight attendant, and found she is blameless because @United misinforms its crew," Attaran tweeted. "WTF, United? Look here: on flights leaving Canada, masks are mandatory the 'entire travel journey.' FOLLOW THE LAW!"

The Canadian professor then called for United Airlines to be banned from operating in Canada because of the mask infraction.

"United should be forbidden flying to Canada—immediately. Our country, our rules," Attaran wrote in a post that tagged Omar Alghabra – Canada's Minister of Transport. "Even the supervisor I talked with in Chicago didn’t understand Canadian rules apply to flights departing Canada."

Attaran then lashed out at Americans, "Don't like Canada’s laws? Then keep your American companies in your own country. Our country, our rules. That’s why your COVID death rate is triple ours, a**holes."

He added, "Canada is not the USA, you f***ers."

The professor then called Republicans a "death cult," and seethed, "See Americans, you get crazy mad about COVID safety and attack science—and then you die. You drank the GOP Kool Aid and it’s mass suicide, basically. We in Canada did a lot better. So when you pout and cry about our rules—well, it’s kind of cute. Ratio that, motherf***ers."

"Oh, and if you Republican Reptiles dislike Canada’s COVID safety laws, you’ll TOTALLY HATE our gun safety laws—if you’re not already shot and dead," he feverishly ranted. "Cuz Yankees murder their own far more than Canadians. Even kids. It’s awful. I’m so glad I emigrated from California to Canada."

For hours, Attaran raged on Twitter as he battled anyone who criticized him for trying to mask-shame the flight attendant.

Attaran even blustered about former President Donald Trump's sex life and genitalia.

Twitter reactions to Attaran mask-shaming the flight attendant frustrated the Canadian professor.

BlazeTV personality @ElijahSchaffer: "A grown adult posted this."

Gov. Ron DeSantis spokesperson Christina Pushaw: "Leave her alone. This is beyond creepy. A professor taking photos of a young worker to shame her. Maybe don’t fly if you can’t handle seeing someone's face."

Journalist Yashar Ali: "Do you know what kind of hell flight attendants have been through during this pandemic? Dealing with harassment and bullying nonstop? And you post this poor woman’s photo and target her? And then admit later she didn’t even know?"

Art dealer Eli Klein: "Posting photos of someone publicly to report a mask breach and trying to get her fired/disciplined is unacceptable. Covid has really brought out the worst in people. Shame on you."

Lawyer Preston Byrne: "More evidence for the proposition that no profession has lost more professional standing as a result of social media than law professors."

Podcast host Hans Mahncke: "As @elonmusk might say, at their heart, mask mandates are divisive, exclusionary, and hateful. They basically give mean people a shield to be mean and cruel, armored in false virtue."

Conservative activist Ned Ryun: "And vaxxed 4x, 3x boosted and triple masked and you should be totally bulletproof. . . Against a virus with over 99% survival rate. Make sure to travel with a binkie and support animal next time. It will lessen the trauma maybe?"

Evolutionary behavioral scientist Gad Saad: "Every single time that this guy's tweets have come across my feed, I'm reminded that he is an execrable cretin. He was dancing in pure orgiastic happiness when he found out that @jordanbpeterson was gravely ill. What could lead a person to be so consistently mean-spirited?"

Commentator Michael Malice: "I didn't notice until now that professor Karen literally called in the cops on a black woman, and is blaming Trump fans for being reminded that he is absolute scum."

Columnist Derek Hunter: "Liberal attacking black woman in the hope that she get fired. #Typical#Progressive."

YouTuber Kelly Lamb: "Thanks Hall Monitor Attaran! You probably literally saved thousands of lives by reporting this to the correct authorities. A brave & truly selfless act."

A Twitter user remarked: "I’ll never understand the mentality of people who gleefully try to destroy other people’s lives just to gain a few minor but imaginary 'social credits.' Is there a more thirsty and sniveling personality type out there?"

Last year, Attaran was suspended from Twitter for attacking Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for not rolling out COVID-19 vaccines for children fast enough to his liking.

House votes to censure GOP Rep. Paul Gosar and strip him of committee assignments over doctored anime clip

The U.S. House of Representatives voted 223-207 on Wednesday to censure Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and remove him from committee assignments for posting to his social media an edited video which depicts cartoon violence, but which Gosar insists was not meant as any sort of threat.

The video includes a portion in which Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez's (D-N.Y.) face is superimposed over a cartoon figure that gets attacked by a character that has Gosar's face superimposed on it.

It also includes a section in which a figure with Gosar's face leaps to attack President Joe Biden, though the video pauses in midair and the attack is not shown.

During remarks on Wednesday, Gosar said that he rejected the notion "that the cartoon from my office is dangerous or threatening. It was not. And I reject the false narrative categorically. I do not espouse violence towards anyone. I never have," he said.

"I voluntarily took the cartoon down, not because it was itself a threat, but because some thought it was," Gosar said.

While Gosar deleted the video from his social media accounts, it is still viewable on his personal Twitter feed because he recently re-tweeted a post that includes the video. Gosar re-tweeted Blaze Media's Elijah Schaffer, who had re-tweeted a post that included the video.

Content warning: The bare backside of the figure that gets attacked appears to be briefly visible:

Really well done. We love @DrPaulGosar, don’t we folks?https://twitter.com/nuancebro/status/1461092714154500105 …

Two Republican lawmakers — Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois — voted with Democrats in favor of censuring Gosar and removing him from serving on the House Committee on Natural Resources and the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Another GOP lawmaker voted present.

Cheney and Kinzinger are the only GOP lawmakers serving on the House select committee tasked with probing the Jan. 6 episode at the U.S. Capitol.

The two GOP lawmakers were also among the ten House Republicans to vote in favor of impeaching then-President Donald Trump earlier this year in the wake of the Capitol breach. The Senate did not vote on the issue until Trump had already departed from office, and while multiple Republicans joined Democrats in voting to convict, the chamber failed to reach the threshold necessary to convict.

WATCH: Tens of thousands participate in worldwide anti-vaccine passport protests, violent clashes erupt

Protests against vaccine passports erupted across the planet, stretching from London to Sydney. Hundreds of thousands of people rallied against government plans to institute vaccine passes that will grant access to many places to those who are vaccinated.

In France, approximately 160,000 anti-vaccine passport protesters took to the streets to protest a proposed vaccine pass. Protesters in Paris chanted, "Liberty! Liberty!"

The vaccine passport is being considered by legislators in France's Senate, and would require French citizens to have a special vaccine pass to enter restaurants. The proposed bill would also mandate COVID-19 vaccination for all health care workers.

In Paris, tensions flared to the point that the police fired water cannons and tear gas at the crowd, and numerous arrests were made.

Biden bizarrely asks if Republicans 'think we're sucking the blood out of kids' when questioned if Democrats support defunding the police

President Joe Biden raised eyebrows this week after bizarrely making two references regarding a conspiracy theory about Democrats "sucking the blood out of kids." The latest mention of the conspiracy theory was in response to a question about Democrats wanting to defund the police.

BlazeTV personality and host of "Slightly Offens*ve" Elijah Schaffer shared a video of Biden flagrantly changing the subject when asked about Democrats wanting to defund the police. Which is a valid question since progressive members of the Democratic Party, including popular Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.), have publicly voiced their intentions to defund the police.

Daily Caller senior White House correspondent Shelby Talcott asked Biden on the South Lawn, "Are there people in the Democratic Party who want to defund the police?"

Biden employed a whataboutism tactic and responded, "Are there people in the Republican Party who think we're sucking the blood out of kids?"

A befuddled Talcott replied to the peculiar and unrelated answer by saying, "I...I'm...I'm not sure."

Love that @ShelbyTalcott was able to get Joe Biden to admit he’s aware people think he drinks the blood of children… https://t.co/EhNvSTbJ53

— ELIJAH SCHAFFER (@ElijahSchaffer) 1627013069.0

Strangely enough, this isn't the first time President Biden has publicized the morbid conspiracy theory. During a CNN town hall event Wednesday, Biden made a similar comment about the falsehood of Democrats "sucking the blood of children."

CNN anchor Don Lemon asked Biden about the lack of bipartisan support for a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 riot, "If Republicans and Democrats can't come together to investigate the biggest attack on our Capitol in 200 years, what makes you think that they can come together on anything?"

Biden responded, "These people. No, I mean it. I'm not being facetious. Democrats and Republicans. I don't care if you think I'm Satan reincarnated. The fact is, you can't look at that television and say nothing happened on the 6th. You can't listen to people who say this was a peaceful march."

"No, I'm serious. Think about it. Think of the things being said," Biden continued. "I've been through the other end of this when the Democrats 35 years ago were way off to the other side. Think about it."

"Look, I sometimes get myself in trouble for what I'm about to say. Not that I get in trouble," Biden said. "As you've heard me say before, no one ever doubts I mean what I say. The problem is I sometimes say all that I mean."

"But all kidding aside, I have faith in the American people – I really do – to ultimately get to the right place," Biden added. "And, by the way, many times Republicans are in the right place. I don't mean it's always Democratic point of view."

President Biden then highlighted the conspiracy theory, "But some of the stuff – I mean, QAnon, the idea that the Democrats or that Biden is hiding people and sucking the blood of children and – no, I'm serious. That's – now you may not like me, and that's your right."

Biden was referring to a QAnon conspiracy theory that claims that some Democrats are practicing Satanism and are involved in the sex trafficking of children.

"The QAnon conspiracy also claims that figures like Clinton sometimes literally eat children as part of a Satanic ritual and to gain vitality by harvesting the substance 'adrenochrome,'" according to Newsweek.

BlazeTV reporter investigated by CNN, suspended from Facebook and Instagram for documenting Capitol riots

CNN is investigating BlazeTV national reporter Elijah Schaffer for his live documentation of the riots at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, TheBlaze has learned.

What are the details?

Schaffer is the host of BlazeTV's "Slight Offens*ve" and frequently travels around the country to capture protests and violent uprisings as they unfold. Video of the Capitol riots captured Wednesday by Schaffer and posted on his Twitter account have amassed tens of millions of views and have been requested for licensed use by most major media outlets.

But now CNN is reportedly looking into whether he violated the law by joining the crowd within the Capitol and filming rioters inside congressional offices.

"Thirty minutes ago, 45 minutes ago, now, I learned that CNN thinks it's worth using their precious resources now, to investigate Elijah [Schaffer], a credentialed reporter," said BlazeTV's Glenn Beck said Friday morning on his radio show. "They have started digging around, trying to call his family and all his past colleagues, to find out, who he really is."

At the time of his reporting, Schaffer claims he was there in a professional capacity and carrying congressional press credentials, allowing him to follow rioters into the Capitol and document the events. He added that law enforcement present at the scene had no problem with him being there to report on the events.

TheBlaze has reached out to CNN for comment about the investigation, but has yet to receive a reply.

What else?

Beck also mentioned on-air that Schaffer's Facebook and Instagram accounts had been removed.

Schaffer confirmed the news on his Twitter account, which he still access to, Friday afternoon, saying both accounts had been "permanently suspended" without explanation.

"It was mostly just pictures of my wife, dog and memories of my mom who recently died But big tech is relentless," he said. "Reporting the truth is now illegal."

Anything else?

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell (Calif.) — who recently garnered attention for his past unwitting involvement with a Chinese spy — was one of the first to take issue with Schaffer's reporting and Thursday attempted to alert the FBI to his activity.

"Dear @FBI, meet @ElijahSchaffer," Swalwell tweeted in regards to a screenshot of a post showing Schaffer filming rioters inside the congressional office of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.).

BlazeTV President Gaston Mooney responded to the tweet, saying, "He was on the ground as a credentialed reporter documenting everything in real time. Almost every major network/wire service has used these videos & he has done a huge service for law enforcement. Where was the mainstream media? Elijah deserves praise."

'Look at my face': BlazeTV reporter beaten by looters fires back at critics who say Philadelphia violence 'exaggerated'

BlazeTV reporter Elijah Schaffer — who was beaten earlier this week while covering looting in Philadelphia following the death of Walter Wallace Jr. — has a message for those in the mainstream media who claim the violence that occurred has been exaggerated by so-called right wing outlets: "Look at my face."

What are the details?

Schaffer recounted the attack on him to Fox News' Tucker Carlson on Thursday night, where the host asked if any journalist advocacy groups had come to his defense or offered to chip in on his medical bills. The reporter said the response has been "quite the opposite."

"The man had a gun, and I"ll say this...I owe it to God, and I give praise to Jesus for saving my life in that moment, because just right outside a few hundred yards away a 15-year-old girl was shot, multiple guns were fired," Schaffer told Carlson. "They had guns, they were using guns, but lucky for me all I received was about a dozen or so blows to the head and the body."

"So nobody came to your defense?" Carlson asked again, "There wasn't an editorial in the New York Times that a racist mob attacked you, threatened you with a firearm, beat you up in the middle of a major American city?"

Schaffer replied, "I know the New York Times talked about people they called the right wing 'glorifying' or 'exaggerating' or 'hyper-focusing' on violence, and I have to say to someone at the New York Times, who's sitting in their office that is writing in the comfortability of their flat, writing and judging and characterizing people: Look at my face."

"I'm a young man, I'm married, my wife is at home," Schaffer continued. "I'm just there capturing the news while they're not, and they look at someone like myself and many other brave people who are putting their lives on the line and they tell me my face being beaten, a gun being pointed at my head...you're telling me this is an exaggeration? Well, I'm taking blows for America and you're sitting at your fancy desk and your nice salary telling us—real reporters—why we're wrong."

"Journalism is dead in this country, and it's dangerous," Schaffer argued, adding, "You know why journalists don't do this? It's because it actually takes a risk. It requires sacrifice, and that's been lost today, in our country. And it breaks my heart to realize people are not getting truth."

BlazeTV reporter beaten while filming the looting inside Philadelphia store

BlazeTV reporter Elijah Schaffer was attacked Tuesday night inside a Philadelphia store while filming ongoing looting in the wake of the police shooting of Walter Wallace Jr., who was killed after allegedly charging at officers while holding a knife on Monday.

What are the details?

The Daily Caller reporter Shelby Talcott, also reporting from Philadelphia, tweeted Tuesday night, "Mass looting across the river and @ElijahSchaffer just got beaten up for filming. This is inside the Five Below store. Police are in the same parking lot near the Walmart, but there seem to be too many looters."

Talcott posted footage showing her walking inside the store and seeing Schaffer, who was wearing a white patterned bandana, being approached by alleged looters amid calls for him to "Stop recording!" Schaffer was seen on the video being surrounded by several people who threw punches.

What's the background?

After the police shooting of 27-year-old Wallace went viral, Philadelphia erupted in violent protests and looting caught on social media that evening. More than 90 people were arrested and 30 officers were hurt in the rioting on Monday. The rioting started up again Tuesday with more protests and looting across the city.
