Democrats stand by their man despite vicious texts wishing death on GOP rival and his kids

Democratic politicians are in lockstep in refusing to call on Virginia attorney general nominee Jay Jones to end his race despite the release of disturbing text messages advocating for violence against a Republican lawmaker and his children.

In the leaked text exchange with Republican House Delegate Carrie Coyner from August 2022, Jones presented a hypothetical scenario in which he had two bullets and had to choose between shooting then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert, Adolf Hitler, and Pol Pot, the National Review reported on Friday. In this scenario, Jones declared he would shoot Gilbert twice.

Jones stated that, in the event his colleagues across the aisle died first, he would "go to their funerals to piss on their graves." He also said that Gilbert and his wife should have to watch their children die, which he justified by claiming the couple was "breeding little fascists."

'I think it's a test for Virginia.'

Coyner responded by asking Jones to "please stop," stating that "it really bothers me when you talk about hurting people or wishing death on them."

Jones did not deny writing the messages but issued an apology for his comments.

"Reading back those words made me sick to my stomach. I am embarrassed, ashamed, and sorry," he stated in part. "I have reached out to Speaker Gilbert to apologize directly to him, his wife Jennifer, and their children."

However, the controversy did not end there for the AG nominee. Coyner shared on Monday more alleged disturbing comments by Jones.

She told the Virginia Scope that during a "pretty heated conversation" with Jones about the removal of qualified immunity for police officers, he stated that "maybe if a few [cops] died" they would stop "shooting" and "killing people."

"He firmly believed that if you removed qualified immunity, that police officers would act differently, and I firmly believe that it would not result in good public policy, and it would put police officers and the public's lives at risk if they have to second-guess themselves on a decision they're making in a moment where someone is doing something violent," Coyner said.

Jones denied making those remarks.

"I did not say this," Jones told the Virginia Scope. "I have never believed and do not believe that any harm should come to law enforcement, period. Every single day, police officers put their lives on the line to protect our communities, and I am deeply grateful for their service and sacrifice. As attorney general, I will work hand in hand with law enforcement to support their work."

Jones' controversial statements advocating for violence prompted many Republicans to call for him to withdraw from the race. While some of his Democratic colleagues have rebuked his comments, none have insisted he end his campaign.

"I think it's a test for Virginia. It's now no longer right versus left in Virginia. This election's about, in my opinion, right versus wrong," Jones' opponent, Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares, told Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck on Tuesday.

Miyares addressed Democrats' silence.

"You had a few liberal columnists that have said this is beyond the pale, he shouldn't be in the race. But, to right now, [Democrats are] either dead silent or this sense of, 'We condemn the text messages. It's not acceptable, and Jay Jones should be held accountable for this,'" Miyares continued. "But they don't say what that means, and, by all accounts, they're continuing to campaign."

When asked whether he had any plans to call on Jones to withdraw from the race, Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) told Blaze News, "There is nothing that can justify these indefensible words, and they are contrary to all I've known about Jay Jones for decades. With hundreds of thousands of Virginians already having voted, it's up to Virginians to decide."

Blaze News asked the same question of Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Abigail Spanberger, the Virginia Democratic Party, state Sen. Ghazala Hashmi (D), U.S. Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), and Democratic Virginia U.S. Reps. Don Beyer, Jennifer McClellan, Bobby Scott, Suhas Subramanyam, Eugene Vindman, and James Walkinshaw.

Democrats Who Voted Against Funding Government Are Suddenly Hysterical About ‘Harm’ Shutdown Would Unleash

House Democrats are warning about the far-reaching consequences of a government shutdown despite recently opposing Republicans’ efforts to fund the government. Democratic lawmakers returned to Washington on Monday, vowing to keep the government open despite voting against a GOP spending bill currently under consideration in the Senate that would temporarily fund government operations. Many Democrats […]

Republicans set their sights on vulnerable Democrats in Congress

The National Republican Congressional Committee announced which House Democrats it is targeting next election cycle to expand the GOP majority.

The NRCC has set its sights on 26 "prime pickup opportunities" in light of the GOP's sweeping victory in November 2024. After taking back the White House, the Senate, and keeping the House, Republicans are eager to expand their power on Capitol Hill.

'Vulnerable House Democrats have been hard at work demonstrating they are painfully out of touch with hardworking Americans.'

House Democrats will be hit hard in swing states and even in deep-blue states. The NRCC is targeting five Democrats from California, including Reps. Josh Harder, Adam Gray, George Whitesides, Derek Tran, and Dave Min. Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez from the neighboring blue state of Washington is also on the NRCC's list.

The NRCC is also targeting New York Reps. Tom Suozzi, Laura Gillen, and Josh Riley. Democratic Rep. Jared Golden of Maine, who was the sole Democrat in the House to vote in favor of the GOP-led funding bill on Tuesday, was named as a target.

The NRCC is also keeping an eye on the Midwest, with Democratic Reps. Kristen McDonald Rivet of Michigan, Marcy Kaptur of Ohio, Emilia Sykes of Ohio, and Frank Mrvan of Indiana on its list.

The swing-state Democrats from Nevada are on the NRCC's radar, including Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford. Democratic Rep. Don Davis from fellow swing state North Carolina is also one of the NRCC's target seats.

After making significant gains with Hispanics, the NRCC is also targeting Democrats with significant Latino populations like Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas, Rep. Vicente Gonzalez of Texas, Rep. Nellie Pou of New Jersey, and Rep. Gabe Vasquez of New Mexico.

Although the South is usually a safe bet for Republicans, the NRCC is vying for a few pickup opportunities below the Mason-Dixon line, including Democratic Reps. Eugene Vindman of Virginia, Darren Soto of Florida, and Jared Moskowitz of Florida.

"House Republicans are in the majority and on offense,” NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson said. “Meanwhile, vulnerable House Democrats have been hard at work demonstrating they are painfully out of touch with hardworking Americans. Republicans are taking the fight straight to these House Democrats in their districts, and we will unseat them next fall.”

Virginia Democrat Candidate Eugene Vindman Ducks Debate Against Republican Opponent

Vindman's decision to duck Tuesday's debate comes amid several controversies engulfing his candidacy.

Alexander Vindman tries to outdo his wife's ghoulish response to the latest attempt on Trump's life

Kamala Harris booster Alexander Vindman and his wife seized upon the second attempted assassination of President Donald Trump as another opportunity to attack the Republican. Their latest salvos did not go over well online.

Vindman served as the star witness in the impeachment inquiry regarding President Donald Trump's July 25, 2019, phone call with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In the years since, the Ukrainian-born former White House official has leaned hard into his new career criticizing Trump.

Days after Vindman reposted a Harris promotional video containing an unsubstantiated smear and the claim that "Trump is a danger to national security," a Democratic donor with an intense interest in Ukraine's war effort allegedly set about killing Trump in Florida.

Following reports of gunshots outside the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach and a possible assassination attempt, many went online to express concern for Trump and his family — including President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Vindman and his wife alternatively channeled their hatred of Trump.

Shortly after the assassination attempt was thwarted, Rachel Vindman, the Harris booster's wife, tweeted, "No ears were harmed. Carry on with your Sunday afternoon."

'The "tolerance" of the "Left" ladies and gentlemen.'

Rachel Vindman was evidently making light of two shootings: the latest as well as the assassination attempt on July 13 when Trump was shot, former firefighter Corey Comperatore died trying to protect his family, and two others were badly injured.

Some found it hard to believe that the Harris booster's wife would rush to make such a callous comment.

Former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson asked, "Did you really just say this?"

Comedian Rob Schneider wrote, "The 'tolerance' of the 'Left' ladies and gentlemen. At least these demons expose themselves as the loathsome cold hearted charlatans that they are."

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) wrote, "Does this represent the stance of the whole Vindman family? Especially the one running for Congress?"

Waltz was referring to Alexander Vindman's twin, Eugene Vindman, who is running for Congress as a Democrat in Virginia's 7th District.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham wrote, "This lovely specimen is the wife of chief impeachment witness against Trump Alexander Vindman. Today she mocked the 2nd attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Of course, if same had happened to Zelenskyy, she'd demand an international inquiry."

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, tweeted, "This is disgusting."

Rachel Vindman later revealed that her initial message was being interpreted just as intended, stating in a subsequent tweet, "Sorry you're triggered [laughing emoji]. I mean no I'm not. I don't care a little bit."

"Trump has been inciting violence against his enemies for years. He douses a situation in gasoline, lights a match, & walks away claiming no responsibility," added Rachel Vindman. "Look at what is happening in Springfield, OH right now but he wants to claim he's a victim. You cannot have it both ways."

Alexander Vindman soon joined his wife in attacking Trump and downplaying attempted political assassinations.

When Trump co-campaign manager and U.S. Marine veteran Chris LaCivita suggested that Alexander Vindman should condemn his wife's statement, Vindman instead wrote, "I condemn you. I condemn your lack of integrity, your attacks on immigrants, your desecration of Arlington National Cemetery."

Vindman was not referring to the Biden-Harris administration's trampling of graves and toppling of the Jewish American-designed Reconciliation Memorial but rather Trump's recent visit — in which the Republican joined several Gold Star families in paying respects to the fallen, specifically the 13 service members killed in the Biden-Harris administration's botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Vindman added, "Your candidate @realDonaldTrump has incited political violence for a decade. He could reduce the temperature of this election cycle. But you MAGA thrive on bullying. Fact is you are all weak."

The Harris booster proceeded to insinuate that Trump was at fault for his targeting, writing, "Donald @realDonaldTrump instigated attacks on legal immigrants resulting in bomb threats. His constant stoking of political violence doesn't receive enough scrutiny. And the violence he inspires doesn't receive enough condemnation."

When Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) suggested the Vindman family "is saying if Trump won't shut up he deserves to be killed," Alexander Vindman responded, "You & the MAGA extremists have polluted our politics. On November 5th the American public will cancel Trump & Trumpism."

Alexander Vindman's twin, Eugene Vindman, took a different approach, writing, "I am grateful that no one is hurt, and thankful for the law enforcement agents who acted bravely and swiftly in the line of duty."

Eugene Vindman is running against Republican Derrick Anderson, a former A-Team leader in the Green Berets and Special Forces detachment commander who previously served in the Trump administration.
