Mark Levin’s new book: It's 'not government oppression or suppression' destroying our press

Exactly how free is the American press these days? LevinTV host Mark Levin explores that question in his forthcoming book, “Unfreedom of the Press.”

In this latest book from the five-time number one New York Times best-selling author, he explains that the downfall of the American free press is not the fault of government intervention, but of the mainstream media’s abandonment of reporting integrity and journalistic standards.

“Unfreedom of the Press is not just another book about the press,” explains publisher Simon & Schuster. “Levin shows how those entrusted with news reporting today are destroying freedom of the press from within: ‘not government oppression or suppression,’ he writes, but self-censorship, group-think, bias by omission, and passing off opinion, propaganda, pseudo-events, and outright lies as news.”

The publisher also details how the book will delve into the history of the American press. It goes back to the early days of the Republic when our country’s newspapers “were open and transparent about their fierce allegiance to one political party or the other” and showing how what began during the Progressive Era at the start of the 20th century eventually left us with “a partisan party-press” that is “hypocritically engaged in a massive untruth as to its real nature.”

The book will be released on May 21 and is available for pre-order now.

Levin: 'Our president has been telling the truth from the beginning'

Thursday on the radio, LevinTV host Mark Levin lit into the media for false reporting on the so-called Trump Tower scandal.

Levin read a report from CNN published Thursday evening, which revealed that Donald Trump Jr.'s "mysterious" phone calls were between him and two business associates, not with his father, President Donald Trump, as previously alleged.

"Donald Trump, our president, has been telling the truth from the beginning," Levin said.

Listen:

"He didn't lie, the president. He told the absolute truth. This is why this will not lead in any broadcast in America. It will not be the front-page headline across the top on any major newspaper in America. Day after day, week after week, month after month, the suspicion was planted with the American people. And this is how it works: The truth, the facts, never catch up," Levin said.

Levin pointed out that though the mainstream media repeatedly put out reports asserting the president was lying about the meeting, they will not be held to account for their blatant misrepresentation of the facts.

"This is what the president means by the fake media. ... It's worse than a fake media. This media is destroying our country. It's dividing our country. It's undermining our country," Levin said.
