'Welcome to Illinois, SATAN': Adam Kinzinger says snake dropped out of plane's wheel well after four-hour flight

Former U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said that after he had flown a four-hour flight from Texas to Illinois, a snake dropped out of the airplane's wheel well.

"Yesterday I flew from Texas to Illinois, 4 hours at 17,500. Outside temp at that altitude was -8. Landed, taxied in, and when i stopped this boy dropped out of my wheel well. Welcome to Illinois, SATAN," Kinzinger tweeted on Monday. He included several photos of the reptile.

Someone who responded to the former lawmaker said, "This is a non poisonous Texas rat snake by the way in case you were curious."

"Ya. But him hijacking my plane is, discomforting!" Kinzinger replied.

Kinzinger departed from office in early January after more than a decade serving in the House chamber — he did not run for re-election in 2022.

Kinzinger was one of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach then-President Donald Trump in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, and he was one of the two Republican lawmakers to serve on the House Select Committee that was supposed to investigate the Jan. 6 episode. The other GOP lawmaker to serve on the panel was Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, who also left office after her term ended in early January — Cheney lost her 2022 primary to a Trump-backed challenger.

On the heels of his exit from Congress, it was announced that Kinzinger would be a CNN senior political commentator.

A pilot in South Africa recently managed to safely land after a snake came came into contact with him mid flight — the creature was a Cape cobra, a venomous type of snake.

Adam Kinzinger accuses some Republicans of having a 'gun fetish' — then damning picture of him resurfaces

Former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger condemned on Tuesday Republicans for "flaunting" their support of the Second Amendment, suggesting such people suffer from a "gun fetish."

In a great turn of irony, Kinzinger was later forced to explain why he is guilty of exactly what he criticized.

What did Kinzinger say?

Last month, two Republican lawmakers — Reps. Ana Paulina Luna (Fla.) and George Santos (N.Y.) were spotted wearing AR-15 lapel pins. The pins were distributed by Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.), who owns a gun store in Georgia.

Seizing on a photo of Luna and Santos, Kinzinger wrote, "You can oppose a ban, fine. But the flaunting of guns and the gun fetish really bothers me."

What happened next?

Less than 20 minutes after Kinzinger's attack, YouTuber David Freiheit, known under his online pseudonym "Viva Frei," reposted a picture of Kinzinger and his brother from 2014.

In that picture, Kinzinger is flaunting his pride for firearms, holding an AR-style rifle while wearing a handgun strapped to his leg.

"Is this you?" Freiheit asked. "I'm actually not being sarcastic… Is this your tweet, and is this you?"

There was zero doubt, of course, that the photo was of Kinzinger because it originated from the same account that accused some Republicans of having a "gun fetish."

The former Illinois congressman responded to Freiheit by confirming the authenticity of the photo and attacking Freiheit.

"Yes that is me. That also was many years ago and I have since moderated somewhat on this issue, as have millions of Americans. BUT if you don’t want to leave room for people to evolve on this issue, then you only have yourself to blame. I also am a military member," Kinzinger responded. "Clown."

"This is the exact reason many in congress are unwilling to have this discussion, because idiots like this never allow for it," he added.

Freiheit responded by highlighting what he believes is a double standard.

"No longer being in favour of rights that you benefitted from is not evolution. It's hypocrisy," he told Kinzinger.

Kinzinger says his child 'will be proud to have the last name' while other lawmakers 'will have kids that'll be ashamed of them'

Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois has asserted that while his child will be proud of his last name, the children of other lawmakers will feel "ashamed" of their parents.

"I have zero regrets. And I know my kid, I know this, he will be proud to have the last name. And a lot of my colleagues will have kids that'll be ashamed of them," Kinzinger said, according to NBC News.

Kinzinger is one of the two Republicans who served on the House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot — Liz Cheney of Wyoming is the other GOP member who served on the committee.

"It's not that we're courageous. We're really not," Kinzinger said regarding himself and Cheney, according to NBC News. "It's that cowardice is everywhere."

Cheney and Kinzinger were among the 10 House Republicans who voted in favor of impeaching then-President Donald Trump in the wake of the Capitol riot last year.

Both lawmakers will be departing from Congress in early 2023.

Kinzinger, who has served in the House since 2011, indicated in October 2021 that the time had come for him to "move on from Congress" — he did not seek reelection in 2022.

Cheney, who has served in the House since 2017, lost the 2022 GOP primary earlier this year to Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman, who went on to win the general election.

Earlier this month, Kinzinger expressed support for former House Speaker John Boehner, a Republican who choked up while delivering remarks honoring outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat. Boehner, in an apparent reference to his daughters, said that his "girls" told him to tell Pelosi how much they admire her.

"John Boehner is a class act. Be more like Boehner," Kinzginer tweeted.
