The White House prominently displayed a Pride flag, but a Republican is proposing a bill that would largely ban displaying non-American flags on federal property

Republican Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas is proposing a bill to largely prohibit featuring flags other than the U.S. flag on federal property and buildings, according to Fox News Digital.

The outlet reported that the measure would allow for various exceptions, such as for the flag of a visiting diplomat's country and the flag of a lawmaker's state.

"It’s a sad state of affairs when the White House prioritizes their radical social agenda over patriotism," the senator said, according to Fox News Digital. "The American flag stands for liberty and justice for ALL and should never be undermined by anyone, especially the President of the United States."

"Old Glory must reign supreme as a symbol of our nation’s freedom that thousands of our servicemembers, and veterans have fought and died to protect," he noted, according to the outlet. "The One Flag For All Act ensures that the American Flag never gets sidelined for culture wars and political points and remains the sole symbol of our nation's freedom and sacrifices."

“The American flag should never be undermined. Old Glory must reign supreme as a symbol of our nation’s freedom that thousands of our servicemembers & veterans have fought and died to protect. It is time to ensure the only flag on display on federal property is the American flag.”

The White House recently earned criticism for prominently displaying a pro-LGBT flag on the White House with American flags hanging on either side.

In a tweet, Marshall described the move as a "disgrace."

“This is a disgrace.

Not only is it in breach of US Flag Code, but it’s a glaring example of this White Houses’ incompetence and insistence on putting their social agenda ahead of patriotism.”

BlazeTV host Chad Prather blasted the move. "This is DISGRACEFUL. Why is the AMERICAN flag surrounding the pride flag?? This nonsense has to end!!!" he tweeted.

GOP Rep. Chip Roy of Texas also decried the White House's move, saying of the American flag, people "have died for that flag. And they put that flag up to the side, flanking a pride flag on the front of the United States president's house. It's despicable," Roy thundered.

““We have a duty…[to stand] up in defense of this country instead of a radical Leftist ideology that results in a pride flag being hung at the same level as the US flag on the front of the White House"

“Does the flag of the United States mean NOTHING?” #FlagDay”

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser orders the display of flags with 51 stars, says the district's 'disenfranchisement is a stain on American democracy'

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, has called for American flags with 51 stars to be displayed along Pennsylvania Avenue, a move that comes as she continues to push for D.C. to become America's 51st state.

"Today, ahead of Flag Day, I directed our team to hang 51-star flags along Pennsylvania Avenue as a reminder to Congress and the nation that the 700,000 tax-paying American citizens living in Washington, DC demand to be recognized," Bowser said in a statement on Monday.

"On Flag Day, we celebrate American ideals, American history, and American liberty. But the very foundation of those ideals, and the basis for our liberty, is representation. DC's disenfranchisement is a stain on American democracy – a 220-year-old wrong that demands to be righted," Bowser said.

“This #FlagDay, 51-star flags along Pennsylvania Ave will serve as a reminder to Congress and the nation that the 700,000 tax-paying American citizens living in DC demand to be recognized.

The Senate must do the right thing, embrace representation & send #DCStatehood to @POTUS.”

Flag Day will be on Tuesday June 14. "On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress passed a resolution adopting a flag for our new Nation — the United States of America," according to a Flag Day and National Flag Week proclamation by President Joe Biden.

Washington D.C. has gone to Democrats in every presidential election since 1964, which was the first time the district had any electoral votes in a presidential contest. Due to the city's decades-long record of uninterrupted support for Democratic candidates during presidential elections, if D.C. were ever to become a state, its representatives and senators would almost certainly be Democrats as well.

"As Americans nationwide brace for a decision on the future of Roe v. Wade, we are also reminded that DC's disenfranchisement impacts not just Americans living in DC, but Americans nationwide who share our values. While the stakes are even higher for Washingtonians, we stand shoulder to shoulder with the majority of Americans who believe in a woman's right to choose. We also stand shoulder to shoulder with the majority of Americans demanding common sense gun reforms, and with the majority of Americans who want to build a more inclusive democracy," Bowser said.

The mayor, who has served since 2015, is currently seeking another term in office.

The city has displayed flags with 51 stars in the past as well.
