Joe Rogan triggers woke outrage after he visits US Grand Prix garage

Joe Rogan was invited into a McLaren team garage before the 2024 United States Grand Prix race Sunday in Austin, Texas — and woke Formula 1 fans accused McLaren of supporting a "conspiracy theorist" who spreads "misinformation."

The podcasting legend and UFC commentator — who attended the event with his wife, Jessica Ditzel — appeared in one of McLaren's social media videos.

'Let's see how much misinformation he can spread in 30 seconds.'

"Welcome to the McLaren garage, Joe Rogan," the racing team wrote on Instagram.

A known car enthusiast, Rogan seemed ecstatic as he smiled ear to ear while speaking to the camera: "Hi, I'm Joe Rogan, and I'm here in Austin at the Formula 1 race in the McLaren garage. Pretty amazing."

He added, "We're very excited to be here. Super psyched for Formula 1. Let's go!"

Of course, Rogan's very existence was enough to trigger leftist race fans, who quickly jumped into the comments to criticize his appearance.

"Why on earth are you supporting a conspiracy theorist fascist supporting blowhard?" one viewer wrote.

"Wtf, might as well invite Alex Jones," another said.

Several users claimed that hosting Rogan was an endorsement of "misinformation," likely due to his frequent discussions focusing on politics and controversial topics such as the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Let's see how much misinformation he can spread in 30 seconds," a social media user wrote.

"First Trump and now this?! McLaren is a shoe-in for the misinformation championship. Unfollowed," another replied.

The latter comment presumably refers to former President Donald Trump making an appearance at Formula 1's Miami Grand Prix in May.

At the time, controversy swirled after Miami Grand Prix officials reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to a Trump supporter. The race fan reportedly wanted to sell tickets to his suite at the event for $250,000 and put the proceeds toward Trump's presidential campaign.

In 2023, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton sparked headlines when he criticized Florida during the Miami Grand Prix over "anti-LGBTQ measures."

"I stand by those within the community here," Hamilton said. "I hope they continue to stand firm and push back. I'll have the rainbow on my helmet. It's no different to when we were in Saudi [Arabia]."

On Sunday, McLaren cars driven by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished one-two while Red Bull Racing Honda's Max Verstappen rounded off the podium in third.

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton appears to compare Florida to Saudi Arabia over alleged anti-LGBT laws

Formula 1 superstar driver Lewis Hamilton blasted Florida lawmakers on Thursday ahead of this weekend's Miami Grand Prix.

Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, boasted that he will race with the rainbow helmet that he wears each time Formula 1 races in countries that have laws restricting LGBTQ rights.

"It's not good at all," Hamilton said, referring to "anti-LGBTQ measures enacted by Florida lawmakers," according to the Associated Press.

"I stand by those within the community here," he added. "I hope they continue to stand firm and push back. I'll have the rainbow on my helmet. It's no different to when we were in Saudi [Arabia]."

The comment was received by LGBT news outlets as a direct comparison of the Sunshine State to Saudi Arabia, where homosexuality is punishable by death. Saudi Arabia is an Islamic theocracy that utilizes Sharia law.

One specific measure that Hamilton, a Briton who lives in Monaco, criticized was the Parental Rights in Education law, which Democrats and the media falsely call the "Don't Say Gay" law. The law does not prohibit anyone from saying the word "gay," but does prevent educators from teaching about sexual orientation and gender identity. Florida lawmakers believe parents are responsible for teaching their children about such issues.

Hamilton emphasized that his problem is with lawmakers, not all Floridians.

"It’s not the people of Miami that are making these decisions, it’s the people in government and that’s the issue," Hamilton said.

"I really do continue to stand with the LGBTQ community, and I’m wearing a rainbow flag on my helmet this weekend, and I just really want to continue to support the community here and let them know I stand with them, and I hope they continue to fight against it," added the 103-time grand prix winner.

Hamilton finished Friday's practice in second place behind teammate George Russell, a surprising result considering that Mercedes is experiencing a down year. Hamilton himself has only one podium finish through four races this season. Last year, Hamilton finished a disappointing sixth in the inaugural Miami race.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen is the favorite to win Sunday's grand prix.

F1 driver Sebastian Vettel chased down thieves on an electric scooter after being robbed in Barcelona

Formula 1 race car driver Sebastian Vettel reportedly chased thieves through the streets of Barcelona on an electric scooter on Monday after his bag was stolen out of his car.

The thieves allegedly made off with Vettel's possessions after swiping the bag through the window of his car Monday morning following Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix, Catalan news outlet El Periodical reported.

Rather than leaving the retrieval to local police, Vettel, a German-born racer who competes for Aston Martin, hopped on an electric scooter and went after the criminals. Per reports, Vettel used the GPS signal from his AirPods headphones to determine the bandits' location.

The four-time champion was actually able to track down the headphones. But when he arrived at the location, his bag and other possessions were nowhere to be found. The thieves likely dumped the headphones in an attempt to lose their tail.

Aston Martin confirmed the robbery in a statement, saying: "A bag belonging to Sebastian Vettel was stolen in Barcelona this morning. He tried to find it by using his iPhone to track his earphones which were in his bag, but when he located his earphones he found them abandoned and was therefore unable to locate his stolen bag."

According to the Daily Mail, Vettel reported the incident to police and an investigation has since been opened. As of Tuesday morning, the criminals remained unidentified.

The outlet noted that F1 racers have been the targets of similar crimes in Barcelona in recent years. And ESPN added that Vettel is the third F1 driver to be robbed in the past 10 months.

Both McLaren's Lando Norris and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc reportedly had watches stolen. Norris' watch was taken during riots at the Euro 2020 final last summer, and Leclerc's $320,000 Richard Mille watch was taken right off his wrist while he posed for a photograph with fans last month.

Vettel's incident capped off a rough week for the driver, who finished 11th in the Spanish Grand Prix, placing him one position away from being awarded points.

BBC News reported that Aston Martin has had the second-slowest car on the grid since the start of the season. Making matters worse, the team is currently facing an allegation from Red Bull that it copied its car.
