Frank Luntz warns Letitia James: 'You’re going to elect Donald Trump' if you seize his properties

Pollster Frank Luntz warned New York Attorney General Letitia James that she is "going to elect Donald Trump" if she goes through with seizing the former president's properties.

James — a Democrat who campaigned on the promise that she would go after Trump — brought an unprecedented civil fraud case against the former commander in chief, which resulted in him owing penalties and interest in excess of $450 million. Trump has until Monday to pay it off, or James said she will start seizing his properties.

During a CNN panel discussion Thursday, Luntz predicted that James' attack on Trump will ultimately backfire on Democrats:

I want you to remember this moment and don’t forget it: If the New York attorney general starts to take his homes away, starts to seize his assets — it’s all gonna be on camera, pundits are gonna sit there and scream ... 'This man cannot be elected' — you’re going to create the greatest victimhood of 2024, and you’re going to elect Donald Trump. If they take his stuff, he’s gonna say that this is proof that the federal government and the establishment in the swamp in Washington and all the politicians across the country and the attorneys generals and all of this, that this is a conspiracy to deny him the presidency. He’s gonna go up in the polls just like he went up every single time they indicted him. The indictment, and let’s not talk about whether it’s justified or not, but it will prove the things that he’s saying on the campaign trail, and he will go up, and it may just elect him president. Do not forget that.

With that, Luntz pointed his finger at the camera in a figurative warning to James:

And I say this to the attorney general right now: If you play politics on this, this is what the secretaries of state did in Colorado, and what they did in, I believe in Maine, his numbers went up in both states. I don’t understand. I’m almost speechless in how pathetic the opposition to Trump has been and how completely misguided. And this is a perfect example of it.

Luntz also spoke more broadly about Trump's lead in the polls despite his legal troubles:

How is Donald Trump beating [President] Joe Biden? He’s got 85 indictments that still exist. Felonies. How is he beating Joe Biden with the economy getting better and things cleaning up? Okay ... you still have inflation, you've still got immigration. Trump is leading. And in the seven swing states, Trump is up by the margin of error in five out of seven. Why is that happening? Because his critics are stupid, and they’re running a horrible campaign. And for those people who do not want Donald Trump back, they should be thankful that the people who are orchestrating his loss are as pathetic, and they don’t understand the American people."

The New York Times reported that Trump’s social media company on Friday "completed a merger with a cash-rich shell company, raising Mr. Trump’s wealth by billions and potentially providing him a fresh source of cash to pay his mounting legal bills."

The Times added that the merger with Digital World Acquisition Corporation will "pump more than $300 million into Trump Media, which has all but exhausted its available cash and will allow Truth Social, the company’s flagship digital media platform, to keep operating."

Frank Luntz visibly squirms as he is forced to admit Trump is the favorite to win 2024 election: 'The guy's a survivor'

Pollster Frank Luntz declared last year that Donald Trump "could never win" the 2024 presidential election. Now, Luntz says he would bet six figures that Trump does win.

Speaking on a New York Times podcast, Luntz said last May:

If Donald Trump runs for president, as a Republican, he’s the odds-on favorite to win the nomination. He could never win a general election. But I can’t imagine losing a Republican primary. That’s how significant he is within the GOP. ... I would bet on him to be the nominee. And I would bet on him losing to whatever Democratic nominee there was.

But the Republican pollster now believes Trump is the odds-on favorite to win the 2024 election.

In a video posted to social media last week, Luntz is asked, "If you had to bet $150,000 on who's gonna win in November, who would you bet on?"

Clearly uncomfortable with what he was about to say, Luntz squirmed as he admitted that he would bet the large sum of money on Trump to defeat President Joe Biden in a re-match.

"I never dreamed that I would say this, but I would bet on Trump," Luntz admitted

"Never — I thought it was done. I thought it was over. You don't come back from an impeachment. You don't come back from Jan. 6. You don't come back from any of this, but he's come back," he explained. "The guy's a survivor, and his opponent is having so much trouble that I would, at this point, give the edge to Trump."

The admission is significant, not only because it demonstrates a complete departure from what Luntz said just eight months ago, but because it came from someone who has not hidden his disdain for Trump.

But Luntz has also maintained that he will not shy away from reporting the truth.

"I’m going to make a lot of people mad this year with my observations. But @FrankLuntz will be the place to check if you want the truth," Luntz said in response to the video of his prediction going viral.

Indeed, there is no way an honest pollster can deny what the polls have shown for months: Trump is surging, and Biden is a deeply unpopular incumbent who will have a difficult time repeating a victory.

Every single hand goes up for President Trump in post-debate focus group of undecided voters on who would be better for economy

Pollster Frank Luntz put together a virtual focus group of undecided voters from swing states Thursday night to get their impressions of the second and final debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The economy question

In an eye-opening moment near the end of the session, Luntz asked the 13 focus group participants the following question, "Who do you believe would do a better job with the economy after listening to tonight's debate, Joe Biden or Donald Trump?"

Luntz wanted a show of hands for each candidate — and when he asked who thought Biden would be better for the economy, not one hand went up.

When he asked if Trump would do a better job with the economy, every single hand went up.

"Clearly by that Trump is the preferred candidate," Luntz said in response.

Individual responses

Luntz then turned to the focus group participants to get their individual reasons for preferring Trump over Biden.

Jennifer from Michigan said Trump "has knowledge and a skill set to actually bring us ahead. I think that prior to COVID ... the first three years of his presidency, he was doing great. And then COVID happened, and our economy has obviously gone into the tanker ... and if there's somebody who's going to get us out, I believe it's going to be him."

Elizabeth from Georgia said that before the coronavirus pandemic, the economy was "better than it has been before. Our 401Ks have grown like crazy, and even in this pandemic look at the stock market — it's crazy. Everybody had jobs ... and here in Georgia, everybody can still have a job. Everywhere I go there's 'help wanted' signs, everywhere."

Tasha from Ohio said that navigating the economy "will take a special skill set" and that Trump "has shown us that he can recover in many different areas."

According to the Los Angeles Times, Luntz selected participants only if they met the following criteria: Currently registered to vote in one of 11 swing states; self-described as "possible" Biden or Trump voters; self-defined independents; and consider themselves "undecided." Participants were compensated $100 each for their time, the paper said.

The Times also said that, along with Luntz, it asked Sewell Chan, its editorial page editor, to pose questions to the focus group and provide analysis. He was pictured on the bottom of the screen next to Luntz.

Verdict from Luntz?

Luntz told Bloomberg Politics the debate was a tie — which he said bodes well for Biden:
