'Snow White' star suggests desire to ensure Disney's costly remake is a box-office bomb

Walt Disney Studios confidently released a trailer for its live-action "Snow White" remake over the weekend, only to be derailed once again by its woke leading lady, Rachel Zegler.

Zegler, the actress who plays the titular Snow White and starred in the failed relaunch of "The Hunger Games" franchise last year, took to X this week to express gratitude for those watched the new trailer for Walt Disney Studios' next potential tax write-off.

At the time of publication, the trailer on YouTube had over 6.3 million views, 65,277 likes, and 478,811 dislikes.

"I love you all so much! thank you for the love and for 120m views on our trailer in just 24 hours!" wrote Zegler. "What a whirlwind. i am in the thick of rehearsals for romeo + juliet so I'm gonna get outta here. bye for now."

Zegler, who stars in the film opposite Israeli actress Gal Gadot, could not resist the temptation to issue one more tweet, writing, "And always remember, free palestine."

'People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it's like, yeah, it is — because it needed that.'

While the Hispanic actress appears to have been taking her own advice to actively advocate "for a ceasefire, for a free palestine, for no more lives lost" ahead of pro-Hamas protesters' return to school, the Times of Israel highlighted that Gadot was simultaneously facing an onslaught of criticism online by anti-Semites over her ties to Israel.

Zegler's tweet was immediately seized upon by critics, not only as a dig at her colleague but as further evidence both of Disney's ideological capture and its one-way tolerance for employees' expressions of political views online.

While Zegler's tweet is likely to create a headache for Disney, it is far from the only scandal plaguing the "Snow White" remake.

Early in development, the notion that Disney might provide dwarf actors with gainful employment and screen time in a global blockbuster infuriated actor Peter Dinklage, who is himself a dwarf, as well as other activists.

Blaze News previously reported that Dinklage condemned Disney over its "f**ing backwards" plan to remake the film, stating:

I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White — but you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you're doing there. It makes no sense to me. You're progressive in one way, but then you're still making that f***ing backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together?

Following Dinklage's inaccurate remarks — the dwarfs lived in a idyllic cottage together as opposed to a cave — a Disney spokesman revealed in 2022, "To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community."

Last year, photographs taken on set revealed that the seven "magical characters" who replaced the dwarfs were men and women of various races, all of an average height except for one actor, who looked the part.

This move generated controversy all its own, prompting the company ultimately to digitally replace the seven with the computer-generated dwarfs seen in the trailer — a costly and time-consuming endeavor.

That Park Place reported that Disney's efforts to spare "Snow White" from the fate of its other box-office bombs required extensive reshoots, which one anonymous source indicated costed more than $30 million to execute.

Disney had on set not only a dwarf problem but a Zegler problem.

Zegler, who some critics suggested was an odd casting choice to play the "fairest of them all," stressed from the start that the remake would be politically correct, telling Vanity Fair in October 2022, "People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it's like, yeah, it is — because it needed that. It's an 85-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond 'Someday My Prince Will Come.'"

In another interview, Zegler emphasized her disdain for the original's straight love story, noting, "We have a different approach to what I'm sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we like cast a guy in the movie."

Zegler's repeated characterization of the film as a woke remake drove various critics and potential viewers to swear off watching the film.

Video: Brawls erupt outside Los Angeles Holocaust museum during screening of 'gruesome'  film about Hamas attacks on Israel

Outside the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, brawls erupted during a screening of a film showing unedited videos of the surprise attacks on Israeli citizens by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7 that sparked the Israel-Hamas war.

According to the Los Angeles Times, approximately 50 demonstrators assembled outside the museum dedicated to exposing the atrocities of the Holocaust. The demonstrators protested the showing of the movie titled "Bearing Witness to the October 7th Massacre."

Approximately 200 people attended the private event that Hollywood actress Gal Gadot reportedly helped organize. Gadot – who previously served in the Israel Defense Forces – was reportedly not in attendance. Gadot's film producer husband from Israel, Jaron Varsano, was reportedly at the screening.

The screening was held at the Museum of Tolerance – the "educational arm of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an internationally renowned Jewish human rights organization."

"The only museum of its kind in the world, the MOT is dedicated to challenging visitors to understand the Holocaust in both historic and contemporary contexts and confront all forms of prejudice and discrimination in our world today," according to the Museum of Tolerance website.

There were protesters and counter-protesters outside the screening – shown on the eve of the anniversary of Kristallnacht. Many were waving flags, some using bullhorns, and others were honking car horns.

There was "a sizable security presence," and noise from the protesters could be heard inside the Museum of Tolerance, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The outlet added that the location of the screening had been leaked, which resulted in threats being directed against the Museum of Tolerance. An FBI advance team, a police helicopter, and a "considerable number" of LAPD officers were on site to secure the event.

As Blaze News previously reported, "The Quds News Network, a Palestinian 'news' organization with connections to Hamas and Islamic terrorism, posted about the screening on social media, generating more than 50 million views and a ton of reaction."

The protest turned violent when pro-Palestinian supporters clashed with those standing with Israel. Video shows fights break out outside the Museum of Tolerance on Wednesday night. Pepper spray was used during the ruckus.

A Los Angeles Times photographer had his glasses broken during the kerfuffle. A man reportedly punched a woman in the face.

KABC-TV reported, "Police formed a skirmish line in efforts to control the crowd."

One person was arrested during the melee.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass condemned the violence.

"We cannot allow current worldwide tension to devolve into this unacceptable violence in our city," Bass wrote on the X social media platform. "This is a time of immense pain and distress for thousands of Angelenos. We must stand together."

"Bearing Witness to the October 7th Massacre" is a graphic video compilation of atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists against Israeli citizens on Oct. 7. The surprise attack on Israel resulted in 1,400 deaths and roughly 240 people taken hostage by Hamas terrorists.

The Hollywood Reporter described the "Bearing Witness to the October 7th Massacre" screening:

As was forewarned, the footage was gruesome. Among other things, it depicted Israelis being ambushed, shot through windshields and beheaded with shovels, and it included audio of terrorists proudly parading around hostages and calling loved ones back in Gaza to boast about their misdeeds. For some, it was all too much — a number of attendees could be heard weeping, and some left the theater mid-film, unable to watch anymore.

Oscar-winning director Guy Nattiv said of his film, "As a filmmaker, I swore that these images of October 7 would not be forgotten, and the world would see them. Because now the denial begins ... we cannot pass by in silence."

Gal Gadot upsets all the right people with uncensored screening of Oct. 7 footage that exposes Hamas' atrocities

Hollywood superstar Gal Gadot will help host uncensored screenings of footage laying bare the atrocities that Hamas committed in its Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

Screenings of the film, which has been titled "Bearing Witness to the October 7th Massacre," will be held in Los Angeles and New York City, according to the Wrap. Hollywood celebrities, journalists, and other influential figures are being invited to attend the events.

The Israel Defense Forces are providing 47-minutes of footage for the private screenings. The Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee are also helping organize the screenings.

"Gal Gadot and her husband, Yaron Varsano, helped make this possible," said Oscar-winning filmmaker Guy Nattiv, who is helping organize the showcase. "As a filmmaker, I swore that these images of October 7 would not be forgotten, and the world would see them. Because now the denial begins ... we cannot pass by in silence."

The film, Nattiv explained, is "reminiscent of the films created about the Holocaust," and thus it serves to help people not forget the atrocities committed against the Jewish people.

It's not yet clear the exact date of the screenings or who is on the guest lists.

The footage that will be shown is graphic and violent. It was captured by Hamas terrorists and shows them commit rapes, murders, and beheadings.

More from the Wrap:

The footage depicts members of Hamas as they shoot Israeli families and individuals in their homes and set the homes they can’t infiltrate on fire. Other scenes show someone from Hamas standing on a man as he continues to shoot him; another shows the slow decapitation by garden hoe of a Thai worker.

The footage also spares no one. Children and adults are assaulted and attacked, and at one point a young boy asks, “Why am I alive? Why am I alive?” as militants from Hamas go through his refrigerator. His father had been killed by a grenade moments before.

That Gadot would help organize an event like this is not surprising considering that Gadot was born in Israel and she served in the IDF.

But the backlash against her has been fierce. The Quds News Network, a Palestinian "news" organization with connections to Hamas and Islamic terrorism, posted about the screening on social media, generating more than 50 million views and a ton of reaction.

"When we say these are not harmless opinions or individuals or careers to support, we aren’t exaggerating. Gal Gadot is a former IDF soldier using her access in Hollywood to push propaganda for an ongoing genocide," said UCLA professor Nour Joudah.

"Gal Gadot went from 'Imagine' to 'Genocide' pretty quick," said Remi Kanazi, a Palestinian-American poet.

Former porn star Mia Khalifa, meanwhile, told social media that she has "been trying to tell y’all" about Gadot, referring to her past criticism of Gadot in which Khalifa referred to Gadot as "genocide barbie."

To be clear, the footage is not "propaganda." It was captured by video recording devices that Hamas terrorists themselves wore. Viewing the footage, then, serves to remind the world about the danger that Israel and the Jewish people face at the hands of terrorists.

Last week, Knesset members viewed the footage in a closed-door meeting. The footage was so graphic that some members abruptly left the screening while others were left stunned and in tears.

‘Death On The Nile’ Is Cinematic Champagne

The movie doesn't lack substance or plot altogether, but it does feel like substance and plot weren't the filmmakers' central concern.

Joss Whedon mocks Israeli-born Gal Gadot after she claimed he threatened her career: 'English is not her first language' — but Gadot slaps back, 'I understood perfectly'

Famed director Joss Whedon hit out at Gal Gadot's claims that he "threatened" her career during the filming of "Justice League," saying that English is not the actress's native tongue, and that she likely didn't understand his remark.

Israeli-born Gadot, however, fired back with a thundering response: "I understood perfectly."

Whedon has been at the center of lurid entertainment industry allegations over the past several years, which have seen him accused of misogyny, racism, verbal abuses, sexual harassment, and more.

How did this all play out?

In May, Gadot said Whedon threatened her career during the filming for 2017's "Justice League."

"[He] said that if I do something, he will make sure my career is miserable, and I took care of it on the spot," she said at the time.

During a later interview, Gadot addressed the exchange again and said that she was "shocked" by Whedon's remarks.

During a recent interview with New York Magazine, Whedon addressed Gadot's claims and said, "I don't threaten people. Who does that? English is not her first language, and I tend to be annoyingly flowery in my speech."

Whedon clarified that the exchange he believes was at the crux of problem was a joke that Gadot would have to tie him to a railroad track and cut a scene from the film over his dead body. He added that she must have misinterpreted his response to being over her dead body rather than his own.

Gadot in response to Whedon's claims said, "I understood perfectly."

Anything else?

In 2020, actor Ray Fisher — who portrayed Cyborg in "Justice League" — accused Whedon of "gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable" behavior toward the cast and crew during filming of the movie.

At the time, he did not delve into the specifics of Whedon's purported behavior.

Fisher — who is black — later went on to complain that Whedon used color correction to lighten his complexion.

In the New York Magazine interview, Whedon insisted that he'd brightened the coloring of the entire movie.

"Whedon was stunned," the report said. "He had given the whole movie a lighter look, brightening everything in postproduction, including all the faces. He said the claim that he had disliked a character’s skin tone ... was false and unjust."

Whedon suggested that Fisher wasn't much more than a troublemaker, and that the Cyborg thespian was a "bad actor" in more than just one sense and a "malevolent force."

Fisher hit back at Whedon's defense and on Monday tweeted, "Looks like Joss Whedon got to direct an endgame after all... Rather than address all of the lies and buffoonery today—I will be celebrating the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tomorrow the work continues."

By Tuesday, Fisher added, "Before I get started today, I want to thank you all for lifting and supporting EVERYONE that has been negatively affected by Joss Whedon. I was not the first to speak out about him, but I hope to be one of the last that has to."
