Gina Carano on Monday blasted a former Democratic senator from North Dakota for "false, disturbing & disgusting" language after the senator made possibly slanderous comments about her on national television.

Former Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), who was once reputed to be a moderate Democrat, recently appeared as a guest on "Real Time with Bill Maher" and said that Carano, who played Cara Dune on the popular Star Wars show "The Mandalorian," was canceled by Disney and social media mobs because she was "involved in white supremacy."

"She's [Carano] a Nazi," Heitkamp said.

"She's not a Nazi," Maher, laughing, replied.

"She's involved in white supremacy," Heitkamp insisted.

Reason editor-in-chief Nick Gillespie, who was also a guest on the show, seemed confused at Heitkamp's accusation. "She called other people Nazis, so she's the Nazi," he said.

To which Heitkamp responded: "She does hang with white supremacists."

"She does? Hangs with white supremacists?" Maher asked, incredulously.

"Yeah," Heitkamp said before quickly realizing she made a slanderous accusation without evidence on national television.

Back-pedaling, she jokingly acknowledged, "I suppose I'm now subject to defamation."

"I think we have to be really careful. There's two things the Republicans think they're going to get Biden on: cancel culture and this whole Dr. Seuss stuff that's going on, where they're reading 'Green Eggs and Ham,' proving that some of these senators can actually read, and immigration," Heitkamp went on to say. "And so, we can't ignore the fact that we got Donald Trump was in part because of political correctness."

Carano certainly did not ignore Heitkamp's comments.

"Here we have more of the dehumanizing phase of cancel culture — Repeat lies over and over until the population takes them as 'truth'," she tweeted in response. "False, disturbing & disgusting language coming from a former US Senator. @HeidiHeitkamp You knew as soon as you said it you were liable."

Carano was fired by Lucasfilm after a social media campaign demanded she lose her job because of controversial posts she made on social media. In an Instagram post, Carano drew a comparison between a person hating someone else for their political views and the Nazi Party stirring up hatred and violence against Jews before beginning the Holocaust.

"Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors...even by children," Carano wrote.

"Because history is edited, most people today don't realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?"

In a statement announcing Carano had been fired, Lucasfilm said that "her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
