Wendy's worker punches drive-thru customer through car window — then steals car, hits victim with car, bites 2 cops: Police

Police said a St. Louis-area Wendy's employee physically attacked a drive-thru customer after an argument earlier this week, KPLR-TV reported — but that ain't the half of what the suspect is accused of.

In short, the worker allegedly punched the customer through his driver-side window, stole the victim's car, returned to the scene and hit the victim with the car, and bit two cops.

Then there was the whole hammer thing.

What are the details?

Police in Overland — which is about 20 minutes northwest of St. Louis — headed to the restaurant in the 8900 block of Page Avenue after a report of a fight in progress Monday, KPLR-TV reported.

The victim told officers that he got into an argument with the employee while in the drive-thru lane, the station said.

The victim said the employee — later identified as 27-year-old Leon S. Johnson — exited the restaurant and began punching him through his open car window, KMOV-TV reported.

The victim told police he grabbed a hammer from his car and began swinging it at Johnson to get him to back off, KPLR said, adding that the victim soon exited his car with the hammer — but then Johnson got in the victim’s car and drove off.

KSDK-TV reported, citing court documents, that Johnson soon returned to the restaurant and hit the customer with the car, knocking the hammer out of the customer's hand. Johnson then got out of the car, picked up the hammer, and began to hit the car's front windshield, KSDK added. The KPLR report indicates Johnson hit the victim with the hammer.

The customer suffered a "laceration on his lip and multiple contusions to his face," police told KSDK, which added that officers said Johnson admitted to taking the victim’s car and hitting him with it. Police also said Johnson bit two officers who tried to arrest him, KSDK added. Jail records indicate the arrest took place just after 9 p.m.

It's unclear what the victim and Johnson were arguing about, KSDK added.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Johnson with first-degree assault, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, third-degree assault, second-degree property damage, resisting arrest for a felony, and two counts of fourth-degree assault, KSDK said, adding that all the charges are felonies.

Johnson was jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond, KSDK noted. He remained in jail as of Friday morning.

Video: Female worker swings hammer at masked thief at pizza shop in Oakland where crime has been off the charts

Surveillance video caught the moment when a female worker resorted to swinging a hammer at a masked thief at a pizza shop in Oakland where crime just seems to grow worse by the day.

Indeed, video also showed Cybelle's Pizza employees using a recycling bin to fight off the crooks who entered the shop around 10:30 p.m. Friday, KGO-TV reported.

"They tried to steal the register. ... My employees were very, very brave. ...I told them don't do that ... but they had to defend themselves," owner Elizabeth Sanchez told the station.

Sanchez told KGO that Friday's incident was the latest of four similar crimes that have already taken place in her Oakland shop this year.

She added to the station that crime in the area is so bad that it's difficult to retain workers — and that she and her husband work seven days a week and are considering closing their Oakland location. KGO said they also have a San Francisco shop.

"Sales are down because nobody wants to come out; they're scared for their safety," Sanchez told the station. "We've seen a drop in sales, and we're worse than during the pandemic."

A representative from Mayor Sheng Thao's office noted to KGO that they've been working with Sanchez and other small business owners on better security, and Sanchez added to the station that a budget seems to be in the works for such a purpose.

"All of the business owners need help," she noted to KGO. "In-and-Out [Burger], Denny's, those are big chains — but what about us, [a] small business? Where are we at? For me, as an immigrant, this was the American dream. But now where is it?"

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom said earlier this week he's sending additional state officers to Oakland to curb the “alarming and unacceptable” crime wave there.

Nancy Pelosi's husband severely beaten with hammer after break-in at couple's San Francisco home; source says suspect shouted, 'Where is Nancy?'

Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, was severely beaten with a hammer after an early Friday break-in at the couple's San Francisco home, the Associated Press reported, adding that the suspect shouted, "Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?" before the attack.

What are the details?

Paul Pelosi, 82, suffered blunt-force trauma to his head and body, the AP said, citing two people with knowledge of the investigation into who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Doctors were treating Pelosi for bruising, severe swelling, and other injuries, the outlet said, adding that Nancy Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, said he was expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect is in the custody of San Francisco police, the AP said. Capitol Police, who protect congressional leaders, said Nancy Pelosi was with her protective detail in Washington at the time of the attack, the outlet added.

The suspect was identified as David Depape, two people familiar with the matter told the AP.

Hammill said the motivation for the attack is under investigation, the AP reported. Capitol Police said the FBI and San Francisco police were also investigating, the outlet noted.

The attack comes 11 days ahead of November's midterm elections, the AP said, adding that crime and public safety are top concerns for Americans.

Leftists have previously targeted the Pelosi home

In May, pro-abortion activists demonstrated outside the Pelosi home and blamed the House speaker for the then-expected overturn of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision.

"We're here because Nancy Pelosi and the whole leadership of the Democratic party has been complicit, complicit with the fascist Republican party that wants to not only only eliminate abortion rights, but gay marriage, trans rights, and a whole slew, a whole slew of rights!" one protest leader bellowed on her bullhorn.

On July 31, 2021, progressive activists — furious that Pelosi was unable to extend a nationwide eviction moratorium before the long congressional recess — protested at the home and served an "eviction notice" to the House speaker.

"The reason that we're at her house is that she has a beautiful mansion in Pacific Heights in San Francisco, and it shows how out of touch she is with the people that are facing a situation [of eviction]," Christin Evans, one of the activists outside the home, told Fox News. "We wanted to essentially send her a message that we want her to reconvene Congress to take a vote [to extend] the eviction moratorium."

In addition, the Pelosi residence was vandalized on New Year's Day 2021 with leftist messages demanding universal basic income and rent cancellation. The San Francisco home also was splattered with fake blood, and a severed pig's head was placed on the driveway. The white garage door was spray-painted with graffiti that read "Cancel Rent!," "UBI!," and "We Want Everything!"

Paul Pelosi's drunk driving arrest

Paul Pelosi was arrested for drunk driving and charged with DUI after his vehicle collided with another in Napa wine country in May; Pelosi reportedly had a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher.

Following the crash, authorities booked Pelosi into the Napa County Detention Center on misdemeanor charges; he was released the next morning on $5,000 bail. Pelosi on Aug. 3 pleaded not guilty — then on Aug. 23 pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five days in jail.

However, a judge subtracted four days from the sentence — two of which Pelosi had already spent in jail and two days of good conduct; the judge then ordered Pelosi to participate in an eight-hour work program in lieu of one more day in jail, Fox News Digital reported.

Paul Pelosi's eyebrow-raising stock purchase

Paul Pelosi in June purchased millions of dollars of stock in a semiconductor company weeks before an expected Senate vote on a bill to subsidize computer chip manufacturing and semiconductor companies with billions.

Days later, when a reporter asked Nancy Pelosi if her husband ever made a stock transaction based on information she provided him, the House speaker said no and then abruptly left her weekly news conference.

Suspect arrested in connection to hammer attack against pair of Asian women on NYC sidewalk

Police arrested a suspect in connection to a hammer attack against a pair of Asian women on a New York City sidewalk earlier this month, the New York Post reported.

The May 2 attack was caught on surveillance video.

What are the details?

Ebony Jackson, 37, who is homeless, was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing in connection to the incident, police told the paper.

The Post said the victims were walking on 42nd Street near 9th Avenue — an area known famously as Hell's Kitchen — around 8:40 p.m. when the suspect approached them and yelled, "Take off your mask!"

The suspect then struck one of the women in the head with a hammer resulting in a cut.

The suspect then appears to strike with the hammer at least three more times. Police told the Post one of the victims was hit on the left side of her face.

But video shows the hammer apparently is dropped and falls to the sidewalk.

And one of the victims picks up the hammer and appears to dare the attacker to try them again.

Amazingly the attacker — who loses both shoes in the melee — continues to jaw with the victims and appears to threaten to come at them again.

But the victims soon walk away from the scene as the attacker hollers and glares at them and puts her shoes back on.
