Cardi B weighs in on inflation, says 'everything is high'

In a recent interview, rapper and provocateur Cardi B flexed her political bona fides while discussing inflation and Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign with celebrity journalist Billy Bush.

Largely, the interview provided the "WAP" rapper an opportunity to plug her new vodka-infused whipped cream called “Whipshots,” but towards the end, Bush suggested she send a bottle to her “old friend Bernie Sanders for Valentine’s Day.”

When asked whether or not she keeps up with politics, nowadays, Cardi B said, “I haven’t really been keeping up with a lot of political stuff because it’s just getting very overwhelming. There's certain things that, like, I was looking last year or, like, two years ago, and the market is extremely high.”

“And that’s just, let’s say, when it comes to homes, everything is high,” she continued, “the food is high, the products are high. We can’t even get products from certain countries.”

Earlier in the interview, Billy Bush remarked that Cardi B’s interactions with Bernie Sanders were his favorite moments from the 2020 election cycle.

Today @iamcardib and I finally met. We had a great conversation about the future of America.

And let me tell you: Cardi B is right.

Together, we’ll get millions of young people involved in the political process and transform this country. I been reading about Bernie Sanders and I’m really sad how we let him down in 2016 This man been fighting for equal rights,HUMAN rights for such along time.Seeing this country become a better place been really his passion for a long time not a new front for a campaign.

Cardi B is right. If we are really going to make America great we need to strengthen Social Security so that seniors are able to retire with the dignity they deserve.https://twitter.com/SSWorks/status/983413678514073606 …

In the 2016 election cycle, Cardi B urged her followers to support Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary.

The rapper’s comments on the economy come as the country experiences historic levels of inflation. Recent reports from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated that the consumer price index rose to an annual rate of 7.5%. This is the highest inflation has been in 40 years.

Cardi B noted that prices are increasingly “high,” and she is correct. The price of a new vehicle is up 12%, the average monthly rent has increased 4.36%, food has risen 7%, and used vehicles have increased in price by more than 40%.

Her statements on the rising costs of living indicated that inflation is an issue that affects all Americans, albeit the wealthy — such as Cardi B — are better positioned to withstand the rising costs of essential day-to-day products.

This is not the first time Cardi B has ventured into political commentary. This recent commentary, and her various endorsements and public appearances on behalf of certain candidates, are only part of her political persona.

Cardi B’s politics are likely best identified by her very public online feuds with conservative commentator Candace Owens resulting in threats of litigation.

Yes. Just spoke with my family. I am 100% suing Cardi for that nonsense. You can’t just start throwing out wild lies against private members of my family because you’re upset someone called your out on your degenerate performance.
I‘ll keep you all posted.https://twitter.com/Lordflashh3art/status/1371959036531372033 …

She’s also given her views on tax policy, in years past.

Cardi B is getting into tax policy now. She says she's paying 40% of her income in taxes and wants to know where the money is going..."when you donate to a kid in a foreign country, they give you updates on what they're doing with your donation....I want updates on my tax money."pic.twitter.com/E1hITGNqee

In 2020, the rapper tweeted that she “do feel like if I go back to school and focus up I can be part of Congress.”

She claimed that “I deadass have sooo much ideas that make sense. I just need a couple of years of school and I can shake the table.”

Cardi B lashes out after GOP lawmaker dares to criticize her Grammy performance amid 'police brutality' incidents

Rapper Cardi B — known best for her crude song "WAP" — lashed out on Twitter this week after a Republican lawmaker dared to link her recent Grammy performance with the "moral decline" of the country.

What happened?

The 28-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, called Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) an "idiot" in a tweet Thursday in response to the lawmaker's speech on the House floor. During the speech, Grothman revealed that his office had received complaints following Cardi B's highly sexualized performance of "WAP" at the popular music awards show last month.

"They wonder why we are paying the [Federal Communications Commission] if they feel that this should be in living rooms across the nation. I realize that [Vice President] Kamala Harris has used her fame to promote this performer, but I assure the FCC that millions of Americans would view her performance as inconsistent with basic decency," Grothman said. "Wake up, FCC, and begin to do your job. The moral decline of America is partly due to your utter complacency."

In response, Cardi B — an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump — blasted the congressman for spotlighting her performance even while the country was grappling with what she considered to be several incidents of police brutality.

"This gets me so mad ya don't even know!" she said. "I think we all been on the edge this week since we seen police brutality back to back including watching one of the biggest case in history go down DUE to police brutality but wait ! This is wat [sic] state representative decide to talk about."

What else?

The entertainer's tweets followed news this week that a 12-person jury had convicted former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin of murder and manslaughter for his role in the death of George Floyd last May.

Then, when a commenter on Twitter shared the rapper's sentiments, Cardi B posted another tweet, this time mentioning Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old black man from Wisconsin — where Grothman is a representative — who was shot by police in August and paralyzed from the waist down. According to video of the incident, Blake was armed with a knife at the time.

"Mind you Nikkas can't give a word about Jacob Blake or give him proper Justice but this part of the reason why !!!!!" the Bronx native wrote on Twitter. "They giving seats to F***IN IDIOTS!!This is why people gotta vote ,elect better people cause you got these dum a**es representing states."

Candace Owens DESTROYS Cardi B in Twitter brawl over black vote

BlazeTV host Dave Rubin discussed the recent Twitter fight between conservative commentator Candace Owens and rapper Cardi B over the black vote.

It all started after Candace tweeted a video clip from her interview with the Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro, in which she called Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's interview with the "WAP" rapper an insulting attempt to "pander" to black American voters.

"If black Americans aren't insulted by the fact that Joe Biden, who has been hiding in his basement for the entire year, made an appearance and came out because he was going to do an interview with Cardi B—do we have nothing better to offer?" Candace said.

Cardi B shot back with a series of profanity-laced videos, in which she said Candace has an "identity crisis" and doesn't care about black Americans because she's married to a white man, who she then likened to an "upper-class KKK in the United Kingdom."

Candace followed up with several tweets, one urging black Americans to wake up to "Democrat racism," another mocking wealthy "Hollywood idols," and finally a victorious tweet saying she "broke" Cardi B.
