Biden inaccurately claims he was born at the same hospital where his grandfather died only two weeks before — NYT calls claim 'false'
President Joe Biden claimed that he was born at the same hospital where his grandfather had passed away just two weeks prior — but the president's claim is not accurate. The New York Times has even pointed out that Biden's claim was "false."
Biden, who was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on November 20, 1942, mentioned that his grandfather had worked for the American Oil Company. But Joseph H. Biden, who had in fact worked at that company, died at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, according to an obituary in 1941.
Ambrose J. Finnegan, who was Biden's other grandfather, passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, according to an obituary from 1957. President Joe Biden was apparently born at the St. Mary's Hospital, but his birth came more than a decade before Finnegan's death.
President Biden Delivers Remarks on Investing in America youtu.be
The president announced his re-election bid earlier this week, indicating that he wants to "finish the job."
"Every generation has a moment where they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their fundamental freedoms. I believe this is ours. That's why I'm running for reelection as President of the United States. Join us. Let's finish the job," a tweet declares.
If Biden scores the Democratic presidential nomination and Republican primary voters tap former President Donald Trump again, Americans could see a rematch of the 2020 election during the 2024 contest. Biden would be 86 by the end of a second term, while Trump would be 82.
