Israeli commandos raid West Bank hospital while disguised as doctors, Muslim women and kill 3 Palestinian militants: Report

Israeli commandos raided a West Bank hospital Tuesday while disguised as doctors and Muslim women and killed three Palestinian militants, Reuters reported, citing witnesses and authorities.

What are the details?

The Israeli military said the raid on Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin was a joint undercover operation that its army, Shin Bet security service, and border police carried out, the outlet noted.

The military said one of those killed was Hamas member Mohammad Walid Jalamna, who was planning an Oct. 7-style attack, and that the two others killed were brothers Basel Al-Ghazzawi and Mohammad Al-Ghazzawi who were part of the Jenin Brigade and the armed wing of the Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad, Reuters reported.

The outlet added that the Islamic Jihad said the Al-Ghazzawi brothers were members of its armed wing, and Hamas confirmed that Jalamna belonged to its Al Qassam Brigade.

Hospital surveillance video showed about 10 people dressed in medical scrubs and in headscarves and women's clothing going through a corridor armed with rifles, Reuters said.

The hospital's director, Dr. Naji Nazzal, told the outlet that the commandos entered the hospital around 5:30 a.m. and killed the three men with head shots while they were sleeping. He added to the outlet that Basil Ayman Al-Ghazzawi had been paralyzed due to a spinal injury since Oct. 25 and was receiving treatment at the hospital.

The Israeli military told Reuters that the trio had been hiding in the hospital and said it was "another example of the cynical use of civilian areas and hospitals as shelters and human shields by terrorist organizations."

Israel's military chief Herzi Halevi told troops near Gaza that "we are even more determined not to allow hospitals in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Lebanon, above ground or in tunnel shafts and tunnels under hospitals, to become a place that is a cover for terrorism," the outlet said, adding that Hamas has denied the allegations.

Reuters added that thousands of mourners filled the streets as the three Palestinian militants were buried.

Hamas and other Islamic terrorists reject terms of ceasefire proposal requiring that they give up power in Gaza

Hamas terrorists and their allies in Islamic Jihad have shot down Egypt's ceasefire proposal. While still open to bartering with the lives of Israeli hostages in order to temporarily stave off annihilation, the terror groups appear unwilling to surrender control over Gaza or make other concessions per the terms of the proposal.

Egypt developed the ceasefire proposal with the Hamas-friendly Gulf state of Qatar and presented it to Israel, Hamas, the U.S., and various European governments on Monday, reported Al Jazeera.

The proposal asks that Israel fully withdraw from Gaza and for the establishment of a technocratic Palestinian regime to oversee the Gaza Strip and West Bank. Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. would coordinate on the formation of this new "non-factional" regime.

The proposal further calls for multiple rounds of hostage and prisoner exchanges where Hamas would turn over civilians first, then female Israeli soldiers. Israel would in turn free some of the thousands of Palestinians it presently holds on security-related charges or convictions.

After the initial exchanges, Egypt proposed that Israel and the Islamic terrorists would engage in "a month of negotiations to discuss the release of all military personnel held by Hamas in exchange for a lot more [Palestinian] prisoners."

Izzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas' political bureau, said in a statement on Christmas, "We reiterate that there are no negotiations without a comprehensive cessation of aggression. The leadership of the movement seeks with all force to stop the aggression and massacres against our people completely."

The terrorist spokesman, whose comrades' terror plot in Europe was recently thwarted, indicated further that Hamas is not interested in "temporary truces or a partial truce for a short period, after which the aggression and terrorism will continue."

Reuters reported that a senior Islamic Jihad official indicated that his group — which, like Hamas, seeks the military destruction of Israel — noted a similar unwillingness to agree to any concessions besides possibly turning over more hostages seized on Oct. 7.

The Islamic Jihad delegation in Cairo reportedly floated the fanciful suggestion that the group will not turn over Israeli hostages until Israel releases all Palestinians presently in its custody.

Islamic Jihad militants reportedly still have a number of Israeli hostages in captivity. Over 100 Israeli hostages are believed to still be in the clutches of Hamas terrorists.

The Associated Press reported that Israeli officials, faced with sustained albeit ineffective Hamas rocket attacks Monday, were similarly less than enthused about the proposal.

Mohammed Cherkaoui, a diplomacy professor at George Mason University, told Al Jazeera that one of the proposal's many tripping points is its requirement that Israel back down from its pledge to eradicate Hamas.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told members of his Likud Party, "We are expanding the fight in the coming days and this will be a long battle and it isn't close to finished."

Netanyahu noted in a Monday post on X, "We don't stop and we won't stop fighting. The war continues to the end. Until Hamas is finished, no less than that."

So far, 156 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the fighting extra to the over 1,200 Israelis massacred on Oct. 7. According to Time, 20,400 Palestinians have been killed over the past 11 weeks.

Gaza: A warlike society terrible at war

Supporters of Palestine make a concerted effort to paint Gaza’s Arabs as eternal victims. To hear some, the blockade by Israel (and Egypt) has turned Gaza into “an open-air prison” whose populace is held captive by a dictatorial Hamas.

Outlets such as the New Yorker feature stories headlined “Don’t Blame Gazans for Hamas,” explaining to us the evils of collective blame, followed by the ever-climbing civilian death numbers courtesy of the Hamas health ministry. It says “blame the Arabs” is a “useful catchall for Israel and its staunchest defenders.”

Even Israel says its conflict isn't with the people of Gaza but rather with Hamas. While that sounds noble and may help with public relations, Hamas is by no means the cause of Gaza’s militancy. The people of Gaza aren’t unwitting victims of a militant regime, but are largely supportive of a military fight against Israel, whatever the cost.

The fact is, Hamas rules Gaza as a popular dictatorship. A prewar poll showed that 57% of Gazans hold a positive opinion of Hamas. And popular alternatives to Hamas aren’t moderate choices, but even more violent groups such as the Islamic Jihad, with 70% support, and Lion’s Den, with 74%.

As a reference, the current RealClearPolitics average approval rating for Joe Biden currently sits at 40.8%.

When asked about ways to build an independent state, 21% of Gazans said they preferred "negotiations," 22% chose "peaceful popular resistance," and 52% opted for "armed conflict.” A 58% majority supported a “return to the armed intifada and confrontations.”

Hamas has responded accordingly, for years spending resources on lobbing rockets into Israel and preparing for the massive October 7 attack. The Gazan reaction to that horrific attack was widespread celebration: dancing in the streets, serving candy, and cheering at a public display of the naked, twisted body of a young woman murdered at a dance party.

Does anyone seriously believe that killing every member of Hamas will change hearts and minds?

Gaza’s citizens dig up sewer pipes and convert them to rockets. They call their parents after slaughtering unarmed civilians, proudly saying, “Your son killed Jews! Dad, I’m talking to you from a Jewish woman’s phone. I killed her and I killed her husband.”

Gazans prioritized war over governance and have proven themselves awful at things like education, health care, and infrastructure.

Unfortunately for them, they’ve proven themselves incompetent at warfare as well. That may sound odd on the heels of their terrorists slaughtering some 1,400 Israelis, but committing organized murder against civilians isn’t the same as warfare. Al Qaeda murdered 3,000 Americans using 19 men armed with box cutters yet were never a military force that could win a battle, let alone defeat a country or defend its own population. Neither can Gaza.

The war is coming into their neighborhoods, and while they will undoubtedly kill more Israelis, they will lose to a country that is vastly superior on the battlefield and off.

Gaza’s “strategy” is to continue attacking, hoping Israel's response will kill enough civilians to unite the Arab world against Israel. If that seems likely to fail, that's because it is. Their endgame is a long shot, soaked in their own people’s blood.

A society that lusts for war but lacks the ability to win has a bleak future. If Gaza doesn't reorient its priorities, it’s destined to disappear. Just ask any Spartan or any other culture that no longer exists.

We're witnessing, in real time, another clash of civilizations that has shaped humanity since before we could speak. It’s Darwinism on the global stage.

Until Gazans choose nation-building over enemy-destroying, they’re steering toward their own demise. Tragically, they seem almost eager to get there.

Israel blames Palestine Islamic Jihad for deadly Gaza hospital blast, while Hamas reportedly blames Israel

Hundreds were killed by a large explosion at a Gaza city hospital, the Hamas-run health ministry said, according to the Associated Press.

But while Hamas has blamed Israel, according to the AP, the Jewish state blamed the group Palestine Islamic Jihad.

"The entire world should know: It was barbaric terrorists in Gaza that attacked the hospital in Gaza, and not the IDF. Those who brutally murdered our children also murder their own children," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a post on X.

In a video posted on the Israeli Defense Forces' X account, IDF spokesperson RAdm. Daniel Hagari said that intelligence indicates "Islamic Jihad is responsible for the failed rocket launch which hit the hospital in Gaza."

The Associated Press noted that Palestine Islamic Jihad is an outfit that frequently works with Hamas.

The outlet reported that Hagari said the blast took place in the building's parking lot.

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota tweeted, "Bombing a hospital is among the gravest of war crimes. The IDF reportedly blowing up one of the few places the injured and wounded can seek medical treatment and shelter during a war is horrific. @POTUS needs to push for an immediate ceasefire to end this slaughter."

"The blast killing hundreds at a hospital in Gaza is deeply wrong," Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts said in a tweet. "I grieve for each person lost. There’s no excuse for the deaths of people seeking care and those who treated them. International law is clear: Innocent civilians must be protected & have access to humanitarian aid."
