Islamists continue to massacre Christians in Nigeria. European Parliament suggests climate change is largely to blame.

Islamic terrorists butchered hundreds of Christians throughout Nigeria on Christmas Eve. In their hours-long attack, Muslim Fulani militants gunned down Christian farmers, hacked up defenseless women and children with machetes, and torched churches.

While willing to express "solidarity" with the victims, the European Parliament appears more than willing to displace blame from the savage ideologues responsible and to instead pin the atrocities on so-called climate change.

A genocide of Christians

According to Open Doors International, Nigeria is the sixth most brutal place in the world for Christians — bad news for its roughly 100.4 million Christian inhabitants. In and outside the country's northern Sharia states, Christians are routinely subjected to enforced Islamization, forced marriage, murder, torture, abduction, rape, and other ideologically motivated brutalities.

Nearly 5,000 Christians were murdered in Nigeria just last year, accounting for 82% of all Christians killed for their faith in 2023, reported the National Catholic Register.

In 2022, Genocide Watch indicated that jihadists slaughtered 6,000 civilians, mostly Christians, in the first three months of the year, then kept adding to their tally.

Nigerian Bishop Wildred Anagbe of the Makurdi Diocese reckons this bloodletting amounts to a genocide, telling CNA that the Christian population is being "gradually and systematically" reduced by Islamists through "killings, kidnappings, torture, and burning of churches."

Mark Lipdo, program coordinator at the Stefanos Foundation, a Christian charity that supports Nigerian Christians, told Christian Today, "These attacks are being seen by local Nigerians as a jihad, like the jihad of 200 years ago. This is why they are targeting Christmas and targeting churches."

"What is happening is a religious war," added Lipdo.

Genocide Watch indicated that terrorists killed over 350,000 in Nigeria between 2009 and 2022.

Climate change massacres

At least 200 Christians were reportedly murdered between Dec. 23 and Christmas Day, 2023, in a series of terror attacks in 26 Christian communities in Nigeria's Central Plateau State. Other estimates put the number at over 230 dead.

Magit Macham, who returned to the area to celebrate Christmas with his family, told Reuters, "We were taken unawares, and those that could run ran into the bush. A good number of those that couldn't were caught and killed with machetes."

After the marauders shot his brother in the leg, Macham dragged him into a bush, where they hid for the night.

Alliance Defending Freedom International noted that hundreds more were injured, eight churches were burned to the ground, and another 15,000 people were internally displaced by the attacks.

As the footage of the mass graves circulated online, Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Sokoto Diocese told Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, "You have no excuses before God or the people of Nigeria," reported CNA.

Empty gestures

Western outfits have suggested that while often acknowledged as an ethno-religious conflict, the attacks are largely driven by bad weather patterns.

Citing nameless experts, Reuters floated the notion that "the conflict is based on the availability of resources rather than ethnic or religious differences."

The International Crisis Group, whose work is supported by George Soros' Open Society Foundations and cited by the Biden State Department, claims that "climate change has aggravated" "farmer-herder violence."

"Increasingly, the security implications of changing weather patterns are visible in deadly land resource disputes between farmers and herders across the continent," added the group.

The European Parliament appears willing to similarly cast the persecution not as a sustained jihad but as a resource dispute caused by the specter of anthropogenic climate change.

Members of the climate alarmist political group Green/European Free Alliance introduced a motion for a resolution last week that grossly underestimated the Christian death toll and criticized the description of the conflict in religious terms. After all, "several factors are to be taken into account such as competition for land fuelled by rapid climate change."

The proposed resolution would have the parliament warn "against an instrumentalisation of the farmers-herders conflict for spreading religion-based hatred" and "cal[l] on the Nigerian authorities to take meaningful steps to identify and address all root causes of the violence in Plateau state, such as competition for scarce resources, environmental degradation and the disappearance of effective mediation schemes."

The climate alarmists' resolution would also have called on European authorities to make African migration to Europe easier and to "ensure humanitarian assistance for those affected and displaced by the violence and climate change."

The European Parliament ultimately passed a modified version of the resolution, which starts strong with an acknowledgement of the murder of Nigerian Christians by "Islamic terrorist groups" and the destruction of 18,000 churches and 2,200 Christian schools since 2009. However, the resolution largely reverts to the language of the climate alarmists' original draft.

"Factors fuelling the clashes overlap and are rooted in, among other things, territorial disputes, ethnic tensions, access to scarce resources and environmental degradation," says the European resolution.

The parliamentarians also acknowledged "the role of climate change, competition for scarce resources and the disappearance of effective mediation schemes in aggravating the farmer-herder conflict."

ADF International highlighted that various parliamentarians have criticized the resolution.

Bert-Jan Ruissen, a Dutch politician and MEP, stated, "Saying that it is a mere conflict between farmers and herders fails to acknowledge the other causes. It is Muslim extremists causing death and destruction."

Hungarian politician and MEP György Hölvényi said, "Blinded by ideology, some people are totally insensitive to human suffering when it comes to Christians. The timing of the attacks, brutal killings, and destruction of churches cannot be misinterpreted and can only be understood as the persecution of Christians, and we should be able to say so."

Afghan national on terror watch list arrested after crossing southern border: 'A stark reminder of the failures of the Federal Government'

An Afghan national on the FBI's terror watch list was arrested Wednesday after stealing across the southern border into San Diego with a platoon of other illegal aliens.

Border Patrol agents took the suspect, along with other migrants who had crossed the border near Otay Mesa, to a processing center, reported the New York Post. At the facility, officials determined with a fingerprint scan that the Afghan suspect was on the Terrorist Screening Database.

After the September 11 attacks on the United States, various terrorism watch lists were consolidated to form the TSDB, which has information on people reasonably suspected of being involved in terrorism.

Upon notification that the suspect was indeed on the TSDB, the FBI confirmed the results, then opened an investigation.

Jim Desmond, a San Diego County supervisor overseeing District 5, stated Sunday that the apprehension of the Afghani with suspected terror ties "should serve as a stark reminder to President Biden and the Federal Government on the critical need for maintaining a strong border."

"The open border policy has allowed fentanyl to pour into our country, asylum seekers to be human trafficked, and terrorists to attempt entry into our country," wrote Desmond. "The protection of our citizens, the preservation of national security, and the facilitation of safe and legal immigration should be a top priority for this administration, yet they have failed."

Desmond added, "The presence of an individual on the terror watch list crossing our borders is a stark reminder of the failures of the Federal Government that are now being put on San Diegans and Americans."

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) confirmed Sunday a "wanted terrorist crossing our open border in the San Diego region just days ago."

Issa told Fox News that terrorists are incentivized to enter the U.S. by the Biden administration's border policies.

"Biden’s open borders aren’t just a gateway to five million illegals, record human and child trafficking, and the deadliest drug crisis in our history," said Issa. "Biden’s reckless policy is also an open invitation to even the most wanted terrorists in the world to come to America. They know they’ll never have to leave. The nation knows what’s going on, and this president has only begun to be held accountable for what he has done."

While the Afghan national was captured, potentially sparing the United States from a terror attack, the border's porosity and the thinly spread American security presence along it might mean other threats could pass unchallenged.

Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas), whose husband is a Border Patrol agent, told Just the News, "It's going to get really bad. ... Our Border Patrol agents are exhausted. They can't apprehend everyone coming in. So you have cartels taking advantage of our weak immigration policies. We have terrorists taking advantage of our weak policies."

In March, Border Patrol Chief Paul Ortiz emphasized to Congress that border security had crumbled under President Joe Biden,.

When asked whether Border Patrol had operational control of the U.S. border months before the end of Title 42, he answered, "No, sir."

At the time he indicated that the U.S. had already lost control of its southern border, roughly 5,000 illegal aliens were entering the country daily. Daily crossings more than doubled last week, reported Reuters,

Just the News indicated that when the daily total hits 16,000, only 10% of available border agents will be on patrol.

National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd suggested at that stage, cartels will be in full control.

"We don't have as many Border Patrol agents patrolling the border. When we're apprehending 5,000 people a day – now we only have 50% of our Border Patrol agents patrolling the border. When we hit 10,000 apprehensions a day, that means we're only deploying 30% of our border patrol agents to patrol the border," said Judd.

Judd added, "And when that happens, the cartels are able to gain ground on the vast majority of our border, as they start controlling the vast majority of our border. Once those numbers go up to 13,000 to 16,000, we're only going to have 10% of our Border Patrol agents actively patrolling the border, and the cartels will own every inch of the border."

Biden said in a moment of clarity on May 9 that the southern border will be "chaotic for a while," starting when Title 42 expires on May 11.

It is unclear by what measure the president qualifies chaos, given that over 5 million illegal aliens have stolen across the border since he took office; illegal immigration is already costing taxpayers $151 billion per year; and criminal noncitizens are committing grievous crimes in the homeland every year.

A 'wave of Arab terrorism' leaves 11 Israelis dead in 3 attacks over 8 days

An Islamic terrorist group has claimed credit for a shooting that killed five Israelis in a Tel Aviv suburb Tuesday, in what was the third terror attack in Israel in eight days.

A 27-year-old Palestinian terrorist went on a shooting rampage in Bnei Brak Tuesday night, firing at people who were out walking, riding bikes, or driving their cars in the suburb. Two police officers shot the terrorist dead, but not before he claimed the lives of several people. One of the two officers sustained injuries and later died in the hospital, the Times of Israel reported.

The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a militant group within the Palestinian nationalist socialist political party Fatah, claimed responsibility for the violence in a video. The terrorists said they had sent "a clear message written in blood in response to the Negev summit," referring to the recent meeting with leaders from four Arab countries and the United States hosted by Israel earlier this week.

The foreign ministers of Morocco, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain, U.S Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Israeli officials participated in the summit. The meeting was called "treacherous" by the terrorists of Hezbollah in Lebanon and was also opposed by Islamic factions in Gaza, reports said.

On Sunday, ISIS took credit for two other recent terror attacks in Israel — a stabbing attack in Beersheba on March 22 that left four Israelis dead and a shooting in Hadera on March 27 where two police officers were killed.

Israeli authorities are investigating whether the three attacks were coordinated or whether the perpetrators acted independently, according to Fox News.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Wednesday that his nation "stands before a wave of murderous Arab terrorism."

"My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones tonight, and I pray for the well-being of the wounded," he tweeted. "The security forces are working. We will fight terror with perseverance, stubbornness and an iron fist. They will not move us from here."

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also condemned the attack in a statement reported by the Wafa news agency

"The killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians will only lead to further deterioration of the situation and instability, which we all strive to achieve, especially as we are approaching the holy month of Ramadan and Christian and Jewish holidays," he said, according to the Guardian.

He added that the violence "confirms that permanent, comprehensive and just peace is the shortest way to provide security and stability for the Palestinian and Israeli peoples."

DOJ: Attack on NYPD cops in June was act of Islamic terrorism by illegal alien using protests as cover

The Department of Justice said that an attack on NYPD officers in June was an act of Islamic terrorism by an illegal alien using the protests as cover.

The claims were made in an affidavit unsealed on Wednesday in a Brooklyn court.

Two police offers were patrolling to prevent looting on June 3 on a street corner when a man suddenly stabbed one officer in the neck at about 11:45 p.m., nearly four hours after a curfew that was imposed at the time. He chased after the other officer and then returned to attack the first, according to the affidavit.

That man then allegedly stole a 9mm service pistol from one of the officers and shot at other officers who were responding to the altercation. Two officers were shot in the hand.

The police said that the attacked yelled "Allah Akbar" several times during the attack.

The attack was caught on surveillance video that was released to the public by the NYPD:

Responding officers shot the man and took him into custody.

The affadavit identified the suspect as Dzenan Camovic, a 20-year-old Bosnian national who was present illegally in the United States.

U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr said in the affidavit that Carnovic had been in possession of extremist materials, including some related to ISIS.

"We know that Camovic repeatedly yelled, 'Allahu Akbar' during his attack. We know that he possessed a significant volume of materials that demonstrates his interest in and support for violent Islamist extremism, including materials related to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS)," said Barr.

Barr went on to say that Carnovic took steps to hide evidence of his plans and whatever co-conspirators he might have had.

"If not for the heroism and bravery of the responding NYPD officers who returned fire and took the assailant down early in the attack, untold additional officers and innocents could have been killed or injured," continued Barr.

Carnovic was charged with firearm and robbery offenses, including unlawful possession of a firearm as an illegal alien. If convicted, Carnovic faces life imprisonment.
