James Corden's 'Late Late Show' food game blasted as 'anti-Asian.' Critics issue list of demands.

CBS "Late Late Show" host James Corden has a recurring bit on his late-night talk show called "Spill Your Guts." In it, the host challenges a celebrity guest to a truth-or-dare-style competition wherein Corden and his opponent must answer a potentially embarrassing question or eat a "gross" food.

The foods have included cod sperm, grasshoppers, balut, chicken feet, sardine smoothies, fish eyes, bull penis, bird saliva, cow blood and pork tongue jelly, ant yogurt, cow tongue, beetle jello shots, and much more.

Now a petition is circulating on Change.org demanding that Corden end his "culturally offensive" game, the New York Post reported Friday.

What does the petition say?

The array of foods considered "gross" by Corden and his producers did not sit well with some members of the perpetually aggrieved, including TikTok user Kim Saira who posted a viral video about Corden's segment.

Content warning: rough language

@kimssaira ok but this is actual Asian food & youre going on live tv telling people how gross it is. thats cringe

Why are Saira and her petition signers upset? Because, Saira wrote in the petition, "many of the foods that he presents to his guests are actually from different Asian cultures. He's presented foods such as balut, century old eggs, and chicken feet, and which are often regularly eaten by Asian people."

The Post noted that balut, which is an embryonic duck egg, is a popular dish in the Philippines, and century-old eggs and chicken feet are regular breakfast items in southern China.

The late-night bit, the petition claims, is "incredibly culturally offensive and insensitive" and "encourages anti-Asian racism" during a time when the country has seen "constant Asian hate crimes." It's time, the petition says, that Corden takes his influence and the "perpetual harm" of his "Spill Your Guts" segment seriously:

During these segments, he's openly called these foods "really disgusting," and "horrific." In the wake of the constant Asian hate crimes that have continuously been occurring, not only is this segment incredibly culturally offensive and insensitive, but it also encourages anti-Asian racism. So many Asian Americans are consistently bullied and mocked for their native foods, and this segment amplifies and encourages it.

The media holds so much influence: according to Wikipedia, the Late Late show averages over 650,000 viewers per episode. That means, 650,000 people are being influenced to think that native foods from Asian countries are "disgusting," or "horrifying." Content like this continually perpetuates and encourages harm and racism against Asian Americans in our daily lives.

We are holding James Corden and The Late Late Show accountable for their actions, and perpetual harm this segment causes to Asian American communities. At the very least, Asian American communities deserve an apology and this segment to be taken off the air.

What about the list of demands?

Naturally, the petition has a list of demands that, if not met, will result in ... well ... Saira never really got around to the "or else" portion of the demand section.

The petitioners' demands:

  • The show must "[c]ompletely change the food presented" or "remove the segment entirely."
  • Corden must issue a "formal apology statement" on his nationally broadcast show and detail the "steps he will be taking to do better in the future."
  • CBS or Corden or "The Late Late Show" or somebody — the petition never specifies who — must donate funds "to local Asian American organizations that are working to help Asian-owned restaurants and small businesses."

The petition currently has 13,543 of its 15,000 hoped-for signatures.

Potential Joe Biden blunder raises questions about possible teleprompter use

During an appearance on a late-night talk show, Joe Biden may have accidentally revealed that he uses a teleprompter.

The Democratic presidential nominee appeared on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" on April 21. During the virtual appearance from Biden's basement, an eagle-eyed viewer noticed an intriguing detail.

Biden displayed several framed photographs of his family. Biden shared a very large framed photo of himself with his two sons, Hunter and Beau, when they were in college. When the former vice president held up the frame to the camera, a reflection of what appears to be the text of a teleprompter shows up on the glass of the picture frame.

GOP Rapid response Director Steve Guest shared a screen capture of the video on Twitter with the caption: "That reflection…Joe Biden was using a teleprompter for an interview with James Corden." There appears to be green and blue text in the reflection.

TheBlaze reached out to the Biden campaign to verify if the former vice president used a teleprompter in his interview with James Corden. At the time of publication, the Biden campaign did not respond.

The viral video of a possible teleprompter comes only days after Biden campaign spokesman T.J. Ducklo refused to answer the question if Biden uses a teleprompter during TV interviews.

Fox News' Bret Baier asked Ducklo, "Has Joe Biden ever used a teleprompter during local interviews or to answer Q&A with supporters?"

Ducklo responded, "Bret, we're not gonna — this is straight from the Trump campaign talking points." Baier retorted, "Well, yeah, they're using it."

Ducklo replied, "What it does, Bret, is it's trying to distract the American people."

"They're using it. They talk about it every day," Baier asked Ducklo twice, "Can you say yes or no?"

"They talk about it every day because they don't have a coherent argument for why Donald Trump deserves reelection, deserves four more years," Ducklo said. "We know that he lied to the American people, we know that he has not shown leadership during this crisis and they are desperate to throw anything they can against the wall to try to distract from that fact."

"I'm not going to allow the Trump campaign to funnel their questions through Fox News and get me to respond to that," Ducklo said on Fox News' "Special Report."

Last week, reporters were criticized for giving Biden easy softball questions during a rare press conference. President Donald Trump said the easy questions "were meant for a child."

"I look at that and I think it's a disgrace," Trump added. "And then I watch Biden getting asked questions that are really meant for a child to answer, anybody could answer. And I look at the level of question that you people ask. I mean honestly, it's disgraceful."

Joe Biden Appears to Reflect Teleprompter Text During TV Interview

Joe Biden appeared to accidentally reveal a screen with teleprompter text in front of him during an April television interview, a clip of which went viral Friday.
