Jennie Nguyen breaks her silence after firing from 'Real Housewives' show over pro-police/anti-BLM posts

Reality television star Jennie Nguyen spoke out for the first time since being fired from the "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" show over her resurfaced posts decrying Black Lives Matter protests and supporting the police.

Nguyen was accused of being racist by her detractors who recirculated the posts from a time in 2020 when some BLM protests were turning violent. The Bravo cable network fired her on Tuesday and promised to improve their "processes" to "make better informed and more thoughtful casting decisions."

On Wednesday Nguyen, who is Vietnamese-American, responded to the furor.

"I just want you to understand my point of view and where I come from, and what's going on during that time," said Nguyen on Instagram Live in a conversation with her friend Michael.

"I mean it's an old post on my account, it's in 2020. I just want you to understand, during that time I had a team of people that were helping me. Whether they post it, I post it, it doesn't really matter at this point. For me, it's on my account, and I take full responsibility and accountability for what was posted," she explained.

Nguyen went on to characterize the posts as "inappropriate" to the point that they were "disgusting." But she defended her political point of view.

"I want you to understand that my political stance, I still support that. I am very proud to be a Republican. I am proud to be able to say I have the freedom of speech to choose and to have an opinion," she continued.

"I respect your opinion, I respect your political stance," she added. "We are different. But we need to respect each other and we need to understand that we live in this country, where we have the freedom to speak our mind, as well as we have a freedom to choose."

Nguyen had previously apologized for the posts and said that she had deleted the account where they appeared.

"I do support my law enforcement," Nguyen concluded. "But that doesn't make me racist. To support my political stance, that does not make me a racist. And I want you to understand that."

Bravo fires Jennie Nguyen from 'Real Housewives' show over resurfaced her posts decrying BLM protests

The Bravo cable network fired Jennie Nguyen from the cast of "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" after old social media posts resurfaced where she criticized Black Lives Matter protests and defended the police.

The network announced their decision to fire Nguyen, who is Vietnamese-American, on Tuesday.

"Bravo has ceased filming with Jennie Nguyen and she will no longer be a cast member of 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.' We recognize we failed to take appropriate action once her offensive social media posts were brought to our attention," read the statement.

"Moving forward, we will work to improve our processes to ensure we make better informed and more thoughtful casting decisions," the statement concluded.

Fans of the "Real Housewives" franchise pressured the network after circulating the posts from her Facebook profile from 2020. In those posts she derided BLM protests while posting in support of the police.

"I’m sick of people saying cops need more training," wrote Nguyen. "You had 18 years to teach your kids it’s wrong to loot, steal, set buildings a blaze, block traffic, laser people’s eyes, overturn cars, destroy buildings and attack citizens. Who failed who?"

In another post she reportedly cited murder rates by race to undermine accusations of racism against police.

"Hundreds of blacks shot and many killed (including children) by other blacks every week," Nguyen reportedly wrote. "Over a thousand Officers violently injured, some permanently, by rioters. Anarchists rioting in major cities every night, which has caused billions of dollars of destruction to private and public property. And you still think Police Officers are the problem. You are an idiot."

As the public pressure grew, Nguyen issued an apology on Thursday and said she had deleted the account.

"I want to acknowledge and apologize for my deleted Facebook posts from 2020 that resurfaced today. At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I have since learned how offensive and hurtful my words were," she wrote on Instagram. "It’s why I deactivated that account more than a year ago and why I continue to try to learn about perspectives different from my own. I regret those posts and am sincerely sorry for the pain they caused."
