'Shame on those who advocate this!' Elon Musk says he will push 'to criminalize making severe, irreversible changes to children below the age of consent'

Elon Musk has indicated that he will actively push to criminalize the performing permanent gender-transition measures on children who have not reached the age of consent.

"This is a major problem. I will be actively lobbying to criminalize making severe, irreversible changes to children below the age of consent. Shame on those who advocate this! It is utterly contemptible," Musk wrote in a tweet on Thursday.

In an April tweet, Musk had noted, "My position is simply that we should wait until an individual is mature enough to make their own decisions before other adults make permanent, serious physical changes to them."

Musk, who owns Twitter, has said that he uses people's preferred pronouns, just like he uses preferred names, as a matter of "good manners."

“@JeremyDBoreing @realDailyWire This was a mistake by many people at Twitter. It is definitely allowed.

Whether or not you agree with using someone’s preferred pronouns, not doing so is at most rude and certainly breaks no laws.

I should note that I do personally use someone’s preferred pronouns, just as I…”

The Daily Wire's Jeremy Boreing published a tweet thread on Thursday detailing the company's experience planning to share and promote Matt Walsh's "What Is a Woman?" documentary on Twitter.

Boreing said that the social media platform offered the chance "to buy a package to host the movie on a dedicated event page and to promote the event to every Twitter user over the first 10 hours."

The conservative company signed an agreement, Boreing said, but after Twitter reviewed the documentary, the social media platform not only rescinded the advertising opportunity but also said it would limit the movie's reach.

"After reviewing the film, though, Twitter let us know that not only could we no longer purchase the package they offered, they would no longer provide us any support and would actually limit the reach of the film and label it as 'hateful conduct' because of 'misgendering,'" Boreing tweeted. "When we asked how much they would limit the visibility if we posted the film anyway, Twitter replied that our own followers would not be able to see it in their feeds. This, they said, is part of their 'speech not reach' policy," he noted.

Boreing noted that the company planned to post the film on Thursday evening anyway.

The Daily Wire's tweet containing the movie currently carries a "Visibility Limited" label that says the tweet might breach the platform's "rules against Hateful Conduct." Comments, retweets, and likes are all currently disabled on the post.

"We're updating the system tomorrow so that those who follow @realDailyWire will see this in their feed, but it won’t be recommended to non-followers (nor will any advertising be associated with it)," Musk said of the Daily Wire's post. "Commenting & deliberate sharing will be allowed. Sensitive content just won't be pushed to people unless they ask for it or a friend sends it to them," Musk tweeted.

Daily Wire CEO licks Hershey's with a tasty alternative to 'woke chocolate companies that hate you'

Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of the Daily Wire, responded to a controversial Hershey's Canada ad featuring a transgender activist by launching an unapologetically gender-specific rival to the chocolate giant's bars.

"We have two kinds: SheHer and HeHim," said Boreing, in the 48-second ad. "One of them has nuts. If you need me to tell you which one it is, keep giving your money to Hershey's."

Boreing encouraged consumers to stop "giving your money to woke corporations that hate you" in the brief ad released Friday.

Daily Wire personalities Michael Knowles and Brett Cooper flank Boreing as he walks onto the set to display the new product.

Daily Wire reported they had officially sold more than 200,000 bars in a Saturday afternoon tweet.

"Nothing is sweeter than truth," account @JeremysRazors tweeted in response. Jeremy's Razors, an alternative to Harry's Razors, is another company born of Boreing's capitalism-driven approach to directly challenging woke companies via old fashioned competition. His approach is simple: offer consumers an alternative to turning over heaps of cash to corporations that mock them and actively work against their most cherished values.

The websites for Hershey's and the Harry's alternatives are strategically easy to remember: ihateharrys.com and ihatehersheys.com.

"Does Hershey's even know what a woman is?" Brett Cooper asked in an Instagram post Friday.

The Hershey's Canada ad that sparked the unusual offering involved Fae Johnstone and four women whom the company chose to represent the face of its International Women's Day campaign called #HERforShe.

International Women's Day is March 8.

On its website, Hershey's Canada describes Johnstone, a biological man, as "a leading voice in the conversation around Canada's 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, advocating for transgender rights and banning conversion practices."

2sLGBTQIA+ is an acronym for two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, and unspecified other categories.

The five, limited edition specialty bars with "Her for She" wrappers feature the names and artistically rendered faces of the people chosen for to represent the campaign.

Hershey's Canada shared the longer spot with the chosen five in an unlisted video on its YouTube channel. The video featuring Johnstone alone is also unlisted. The company links to both on its website.

"We can create a world where everyone is able to live in public space as their honest and authentic selves," Johnstone says in the individual spot.

The video announcing the offering garnered more than 4.3 million views since it aired Friday. Watch Boreing introduce the company's HeHim and SheHer varieties of Jeremy's Chocolate below.

DeSantis admin slams Andrea Mitchell for 'blatant lie' and subsequent 'non-apology,' vows to shun NBCUniversal interview requests

While interviewing Vice President Kamala Harris last week, Andrea Mitchell inaccurately claimed that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has said that kids should not be taught about slavery or its aftermath in schools — but on Wednesday's episode of MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports," Mitchell said that she had been "imprecise" when discussing the governor's stance regarding the teaching of slavery.

She said that DeSantis is not against schools teaching about slavery. But Mitchell said the governor "has opposed the teaching of an African-American studies curriculum" and the utilization of "some authors" as well as "source materials that historians" and "teachers say makes it all but impossible for students to understand the broader historic and political context behind slavery and its aftermath."

“@mitchellreports Saying one was "imprecise," when what they said was a blatant lie, is not an apology.

@MSNBC /@NBCNews should not be viewed as an objective media organization. Stop letting the corporate media be the gatekeepers of truth.
https://t.co/rGj7uc8kEm”
— Jeremy Redfern (@Jeremy Redfern) 1677090768

Minutes after Mitchell's comments aired, DeSantis press secretary Bryan Griffin noted on Twitter that the governor's administration will be declining media requests from NBCUniversal-related outlets until Mitchell apologizes for claiming that DeSantis opposed schools teaching about slavery.

"To all of the bookers and producers reaching out to our office from @NBCNews and @MSNBC for @GovRonDeSantis to join your shows, this will be the standard response from our office until @mitchellreports apologizes and your track record improves," Griffin tweeted.

He shared a screenshot of a message in which he declared: "I think we need to take a step back. There will be no consideration of anything related to NBC Universal or its affiliates until and at least Andrea Mitchell corrects the blatant lie she made about the governor '[Governor DeSantis] says that slavery and the aftermath of slavery should not be taught to Florida schoolchildren'—this is false), and NBC and it's affiliates display a consistent track record of truthful reporting. Please feel free to pass this up and around the network."

Griffin described Mitchell's Wednesday remarks as "a typical non-apology response that doubles down on the original lie."

New York City teachers who refused COVID vaccine had their fingerprints sent to FBI and New York Criminal Justice Services

New York City teachers who declined to get the COVID-19 vaccine had their personnel files flagged and their fingerprints sent to the FBI and the New York Criminal Justice Services, according to a legal group.

The New York City vaccine mandate required Department of Education employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID by Sept. 5, 2022. As of mid-September 2022, approximately 1,950 NYC Department of Education employees had been fired for declining to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams ended the vaccine mandate for NYC workers on Feb. 10.

However, Department of Education employees who were not vaccinated against COVID were reportedly penalized by having a "problem code" inputted in their personnel file.

An assistant principal in the Bronx was suspended without pay for not getting the COVID vaccine.

An affidavit stated, "And while she applied to over 60 jobs during that span, she received no offers because, as one interviewer told her, the DOE attached a problem code for her due to alleged 'misconduct.' While she waited for a decision, her home went into foreclosure, her son had to leave college, and she was forced to get vaccinated to feed her family."

A former therapist at NYC's Early Intervention Program for children with disabilities or developmental issues found out she was labeled with a "problem code" by an agency that she was working with, according to the Alliance Defending Freedom.

"I was shocked that I had been flagged as ineligible to work, because such problem codes often indicate poor performance reviews, misconduct, or even criminal activity. None of these apply to me," the former employee stated. "I did not understand how someone from outside the DOE could even possess this incorrect information about me, I was extremely embarrassed by its negative implications, and I was immensely disappointed that I had to inform the families that I had been assigned to that I could not service their children."

Teachers for Choice – a self-described "organization comprised of teachers and parents that are 100% against forced medical mandates for any American to keep their job, especially educators – argues that teachers' "fingerprints are sent with that flag to the FBI and the New York Criminal Justice Services."

The New York Criminal Justice Services "maintains criminal history records and fingerprint files and performs background checks for employment and licensure."

Teachers for Choice claims that after the personnel files are flagged, they are then sent to the national databases at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice.

John Bursch, attorney for Alliance Defending Freedom, defended terminated New York City workers in court on Feb. 8.

Bursch said in court, "In addition, you've got these problem codes in the personnel files."

"When the city puts these problem codes on employees who have been terminated because of their unconstitutional policies, not only do they have this flag in their files, but their fingerprints are sent with that flag to the FBI and the New York Criminal Justice Services," Bursch said. "So it impacts their ongoing ability to get employment."

Bursch told the Daily Caller, "Even for those who are eligible for reinstatement, when they apply, they've all got so-called 'problem codes' in their personal file because they purportedly failed to fulfill a contractual condition, which was to get vaccinated."

"The city simply didn't like that some people objected to the vaccine on religious grounds and they punished them for that," Bursch said.

'What you think, what you feel: It's all just data': WEF event hypes era of 'brain transparency' in which companies will monitor employees' thoughts and emotions

Politicians and technocrats from around the world convened earlier this month at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to discuss how best to orient humanity's future on its behalf. Among the speakers who had their ear was a so-called futurist and ethicist who hyped the adoption of neurotechnology that would afford employers, governments, and others to decode "brain activity in ways we never before thought possible."

"What you think, what you feel: It's all just data," said Nita Farahany, professor of law and philosophy at Duke Law School and faculty chair of the Duke MA in bioethics and science policy. "And large patterns can be decoded using artificial intelligence."

Farahany explained in her Jan. 19 presentation, entitled "Ready for Brain Transparency?" that when people think or emote, "neurons are firing in your brain, emitting tiny little electrical discharges. As a particular thought takes form, hundreds of thousands of neurons fire in characteristic patterns that can be decoded with EEG- or electroencephalography- and AI-powered devices."

Once decoded, the resultant data can be used for a multitude of purposes, good and bad.

The ethicist did not dwell long on the resemblances between the possibilities at hand and the dystopian nightmares previously imagined by science fiction writers such as Philip K. Dick and William Gibson.

Instead, Farahany focused on what she perceived to be the positive outcomes of monitoring and socially engineering the species, emphasizing that the adoption of these technologies could help address "some of the root causes of human suffering, from neurological disease and degeneration to mental illness, but of also unlocking a lot of the secrets of the human brain."

What would it look like in the field?

The WEF speaker indicated that wearable neurotechnology — contra implanted neurotechnology of the kind Elon Musk's Neuralink deals in — will herald an era wherein "you can have an EEG sensor in each ear as part of your ear pods, where you also take conference calls and you listen to music but you have brainwave activity that is being monitored all day every day."

Farahany began her talk with a series of hypothetical uses of such wearable neurotechnology, which she likened to "Fitbits for the brain":

 • An office employee monitors her stress levels as a deadline approaches and, noticing an unusual trend, sends her readings to her doctor for an update.
 • Her technology-inflamed neuroses momentarily dissipate and she begins entertaining romantic thoughts about a male coworker. However, an alert appears on her desktop reminding her to refrain from intra-office romance. The employee focuses back on her work. Her prompt obedience is recognized by her boss — also monitoring the worker's brain waves — who then rewards her with a bonus.
 • The next day, in an unrelated incident, her coworker is carted off by police, having been deemed guilty of wire fraud on the basis of his mental activity. Police will eventually scrutinize mental wavelengths in the office for possible co-conspirators.
“At the Davos event titled “Are you ready for brain transparency?” The WEF speaker explained how brain-wave data collected by your ear pods will be used by your boss to make you "more productive" and help government authorities "fight crime" (link embedded) h/t @peopleconspire”
— Jeremy Loffredo (@Jeremy Loffredo) 1675022240

According to Farahany, it won't just be white-collar environments where workers' minds will be policed and tracked in this fashion.

With the purported aim of preventing distracted-driving accidents on the road, Farahany suggested that truck drivers could be equipped with hats containing embedded electrode censors that would score what stage of alertness they are at in any given moment.

Concerning the prospect of using brain surveillance to know when to preemptively intervene, Farahany underscored, "We as a society should want that."

“Wearable neurotech can now go so far as to detect what you are paying attention to, says @NitaFarahany. She predicts we may soon use this to help people snap to attention in the workplace, such as with the MIT Media Lab’s haptic scarf that “buzzes” when your mind wanders. #WEF”
— LifeSiteNews (@LifeSiteNews) 1674239400

Farahany also championed the use of attention-tracking ear pods, noting that employers are now able to determine whether an employee's distractions are central, peripheral, or unrelated to their assigned task. She did, however, couch her support with the caveat that it should be optional on the part of employees, used to determine benefits as opposed to penalties.

Although erring on the side of positivity, Farahany noted that the widespread adoption of these technologies will "change the way that we interact with other people and even how we understand ourselves."

Furthermore, as technologies improve, she said, "more and more of what's in the brain will become transparent."

The WEF speaker suggested that there will be legal, privacy, and human rights implications, and societies will have to contemplate how they will safeguard or litigate around cognitive liberty protections, and big business will have to adopt best practices concerning how to adopt this technology.

Technologies here, adoption coming

Farahany's sense that this technology will inevitably and widely be adopted is grounded in part in her observation of the meteoric rise in businesses' adoption of employee surveillance tools during the pandemic. It is also grounded in the understanding that the technology involved in the above hypotheticals is already available today.

Presently, there are earbuds, headphones, and tattoos behind the ear that can be used to pick up or decode emotional states as well as a means to yank out mentally pictured faces, shapes, and numbers.

Neurotechnology company Brain Scientific has produced an ink composed of graphene that, when tattooed upon human flesh, can monitor brain activity.

Fast Company noted that Boston-based Neurable developed headphones that read the wearer's brainwaves and adjust noise cancellation levels in response.

Neuroscientists at the University of Toronto Scarborough developed a technique in 2018 by which they could reconstruct images of what people perceive based on their brain activity.

U of T News reported that Dan Nemrodov hooked up human test subjects to EEG equipment and then showed them images of faces. That brain activity was recorded and then used as the basis of a digital recreation of the image with the assistance of machine learning algorithms.

Extra to past interest in employee surveillance tools and the present availability of brain-monitoring tools, Farahany noted that 5,000 companies area already tracking their employees' "fatigue levels."

The South China Morning Post reported in 2018 that Hangzhou Zhongheng Electric, like many Chinese companies, had been mining data from workers' brains on an industrial scale to redesign workflows and adjust production speeds.

Sensors were hidden in safety helmets and hats that monitored wearers' brainwaves and streamed the data to computers where AI algorithms would note emotional states.

In the Q&A following the presentation, moderator and Atlantic CEO Nicholas Thompson said, "Speaking as a CEO, I'm sure all CEOs will use [this technology] completely responsibly," eliciting laughter from Farahany and the audience.

Didi Rankovic, writing for Reclaim the Net, said that with this new technology, for employers, it'll be "just like prodding cattle."

Man allegedly driving stolen tractor blows through red light, smashes into several cars in wild, 'low-speed' police chase: Video

A North Carolina man who is supposedly "very familiar" to law enforcement reportedly led officers on a "low-speed pursuit" for an hour on a John Deere tractor he had stolen.

Around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, police in Boone, North Carolina, near the state's northwestern border with Tennessee, received a call that a man driving a tractor had struck several cars and had attempted to hit pedestrians. When police located the tractor in the parking lot of the Three Forks Baptist Church, they immediately recognized the driver as 43-year-old Ronnie K. Hicks, "a person who we are very familiar with," a Boone PD report said.

While in the church parking lot, Hicks had supposedly struck "several vehicles" before pushing a dumpster into the church building itself. He then ignored police commands to stop and instead hit the open road, often driving erratically, and topping out at about 20 mph, reports say. A line of police cars followed behind him, engaging in what officers called "a low-speed pursuit."

During the slow chase, reports say Hicks occasionally swerved into oncoming traffic, disregarded at least one red light and one stop sign, and even hit a police vehicle. Officers diverted traffic to protect the safety of other drives and did eventually utilize "stop sticks," otherwise known as "spike strips," with some degree of success. The suspect did manage to continue driving the tractor another several miles after he had hit the stop sticks, but the front tires eventually deflated.

Though the tractor's abilities had been compromised, police were still concerned about public safety, especially since the suspect had turned in the direction of a nearby elementary school. At that point, an officer used a firearm to deflate the rear tires as well.

Hicks managed to steer the tractor onto a private drive, where he eventually "ran out of road," the police report says. He then took off on foot, wielding a knife. However, he didn't get far. Police quickly subdued the suspect with a Taser gun and arrested him. The entire incident lasted over an hour.

“There was a police chase this morning in Boone involving a John Deere tractor that lasted for more than an hour and topped out at 20 mph and YES THERE IS VIDEO https://t.co/IFZxSZNR2i”
— Jeremy Markovich (@Jeremy Markovich) 1673989017

Hicks has been charged with a bevy of crimes, including two felonies and three misdemeanors: fleeing to elude arrest, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, driving while impaired, resisting a public officer, and reckless driving. Hicks was also issued a citation for driving left of center. Other charges related to a stolen vehicle may be forthcoming as well.

Hicks has been booked into the Watauga County jail and assessed a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on March 10.

Police Chief Andy Le Beau noted that no one had been injured during the chase, not even the officer whose police vehicle had been struck, though that crash did cause thousands of dollars worth of damage. Police also indicated that some roads may have been damaged by the tractor after its front tires had deflated, in addition to the damage incurred by other cars and the church.

Journalist apologizes for false report of Clarence Thomas and Ron DeSantis meeting before Dobbs decision: 'I am just embarrassed as hell'

A journalist with the Independent issued profuse apologies after he falsely reported a meeting between a Supreme Court justice and a Republican governor the day before the pivotal Dobbs decision.

The report said that Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had met with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas just before the court overturned Roe v. Wade, the decision that established federal abortion rights in the U.S.

Apparently, Eric Michael Garcia simply misread the dates of the meeting and decision.

Garcia apologized after DeSantis' deputy press secretary Jeremy Redfern called out the error and pointed out the mistake in the dates, which were separated by a year, not just one day.

"Hey @EricMGarcia from the @Independent, Is June 23th, 2021 a day before June 24th, 2022?" Redfern tweeted.

— Jeremy Redfern (@Jeremy Redfern) 1666966019

Garcia began a long series of tweets with apologies only four minutes after Redfern sent his rebuke.

"I am legitimately so sorry. I was not trying to mislead. I am legitimately embarrassed and humiliated. I never wanted to do anything malicious. I am so apologetic. I should have double-checked the dates," Garcia tweeted.

"We are taking the article down. I cannot apologize enough. I should have double-checked triple-checked dates," he said in a second tweet.

"I am mortified and legitimately embarrassed. I want to thank @JeremyRedfernFL for flagging. And apologize to Governor DeSantis and Justice Thomas. This is a horrible error on my part," he said in a third tweet.

"The story is in the process of being retracted. I am just embarrassed as hell. Words cannot describe how mortified I am. I try to be honest in my work. I don't try to do gotcha journalism. I always hated that. I can never apologize enough," he said in a fourth tweet.

Others pointed out that even if the story had been true that the meeting would not have proven that Thomas had been politically pressured by DeSantis to revoke the Roe v. Wade decision.

Despite the retraction, some left-wing activist accounts continued to amplify the false story.

"If you support impeaching Justice Clarence Thomas after he was just EXPOSED by leaked emails revealing that he had a shady meeting with MAGA Gov. Ron DeSantis the day before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade — please retweet and follow us!" wrote Occupy Democrats.

Podcast Movement apologizes to Ben Shapiro after claiming that his presence at a conference caused 'harm'

Podcast Movement issued an apology on Thursday after claiming last month that conservative commentator Ben Shapiro's mere prescence at a conference had caused "harm."

"As we stated, we're continuing to evaluate our policies guiding social media & events with inclusivity, diversity & respect for all. We have to start by sincerely apologizing to Mr. Shapiro for our reaction when he visited a booth we sold his company. That wasn't right," Podcast Movement tweeted on Thursday.

Daily Wire co-founder and co-CEO Jeremy Boreing applauded Podcast Movement for issuing the mea culpa: "People rarely admit when they do wrong, particularly on the left where every cultural indicator reinforces your error. @PodcastMovement did the right thing with this apology," Boreing tweeted.

“People rarely admit when they do wrong, particularly on the left where every cultural indicator reinforces your error.

@PodcastMovement did the right thing with this apology. Dan Franks also called me to make clear their treatment of Ben was unacceptable.

Good on them.”
— Jeremy Boreing (@Jeremy Boreing) 1662679782

Last month after Shapiro showed up at the Daily Wire's booth at a Podcast Movement conference, Podcast Movement issued an eyebrow-raising apology suggesting that Shapiro's appearance at the event had inflicted "harm." The tweets have since been deleted.

"Hi folks, we owe you an apology before sessions kick off for the day. Yesterday afternoon, Ben Shapiro briefly visited the PM22 expo area near The Daily Wire booth. Though he was not registered or expected, we take full responsibility for the harm done by his presence," Podcast Movement had tweeted.

"There's no way around it: We agreed to sell The Daily Wire a first-time booth based on the company’s large presence in podcasting. The weight of that decision is now painfully clear. Shapiro is a co-founder. A drop-in, however unlikely, should have been considered a possibility," Podcast Movement continued. "Those of you who called this 'unacceptable' are right. In 9 wonderful years growing and celebrating this medium, PM has made mistakes. The pain caused by this one will always stick with us. We promise that sponsors will be more carefully considered moving forward."

Contrary to the grim picture painted by Podcast Movement's apology, video footage posted by the Daily Wire shows a smiling Ben Shapiro engaging in amicable interactions with people at the event.

“WARNING: Some viewers may find the following video of @benshapiro at @PodcastMovement disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.”
— Daily Wire (@Daily Wire) 1661468715

Podcast Movement's apology to Shapiro on Thursday came after Cumulus Media earlier this week announced that it would cut ties with Podcast Movement.

"At Cumulus Media, our tenet is that Every Voice Matters and we support conferences and trade events where differing political viewpoints can be expressed and received with respect. As such, we were dismayed and disappointed by Podcast Movement's handling of the reaction to our partner, top podcaster, and conservative talk leader Ben Shapiro's mere presence at Podcast Movement. After giving the leaders of Podcast Movement sufficient time to appropriately address their misstep, we are disassociating from Podcast Movement, including canceling our 2023 sponsorship plans," Cumulus had said in a statement, according to Radio Online.

Cornyn booed 'viciously' after taking gun control deal back to Texas GOP

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) was loudly booed at the Republican Party of Texas Convention in Houston, where the state GOP adopted a resolution condemning the bipartisan gun control framework he has negotiated in the Senate.

As Cornyn took the stage to speak Friday afternoon, members of the audience chanted "no red flags" and "say no to Cornyn," drowning out his remarks with furious objections to the new gun control measures proposed by a gang of 20 senators in the wake of the elementary school massacre in Uvalde, Texas.

According to NPR's the Texas Newsroom, many of the people attending the convention called Cornyn a RINO — Republican in name only — for being the lead Republican negotiator on the gun deal, which would fund mental health programs and incentivize states to pass "red-flag" laws.

Gun rights activists oppose red-flag laws, which permit authorities to seek a court order to take an individual's firearms away if that person is believed to be a danger to themself or others, on the grounds that they have insufficient due process protections to prevent abuse. The bipartisan framework would not enact a federal red-flag law, instead it would provide financial incentives to state governments that choose to enact such laws. It would also expand background checks for gun purchases to include the juvenile and mental health records of people under 21.

Cornyn attempted to defend the bipartisan deal during his speech, telling Texas Republicans it would include "more mental health resources, more support for our schools and making sure that violent criminals and the mentally ill cannot buy a firearm," according to reporter Sergio Martínez-Beltrán. But the crowd was unwilling to listen.

Pictures posted on Twitter showed convention goers tossing lanyards with Cornyn's name on them into the trash.

Earlier on Thursday, the Republican Party of Texas' Platform Committee unanimously approved a resolution that condemned the gun deal Cornyn negotiated with Democrats and the other nine Republicans who are in favor of it, Texas Scorecard reported.

The text of the resolution reads:

Whereas those under 21 are most likely to be victims of violent crime and thus most likely to need to defend themselves.

Whereas “red flag laws” violate one’s right to due process and are a pre-crime punishment of people not adjudicated guilty.

Whereas waiting periods on gun purchases harm those who need to acquire the means of self defense in emergencies such as riots.

Whereas all gun control is a violation of the Second Amendment and our God given rights.

We reject the so called “bipartisan gun agreement”, and we rebuke Senators John Cornyn (R-Texas), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.).

As of yet, there is no draft bill for the gun control deal. Several Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) have expressed reservations about throwing their full support behind the framework before seeing the legislative text.
