Leftist writer Jill Filipovic says 'Unborn child' is an 'Orwellian' phrase meant 'to short-circuit our ability to think and speak about human existence and life with necessary complexity'

Writer and author Jill Filipovic posted a tweet on Tuesday in which she described "Unborn child" as an "Orwellian" phrase meant to hinder people's ability to consider "human existence and life with necessary complexity."

"'Unborn child' is another one of these Orwellian terms designed to short-circuit our ability to think and speak about human existence and life with necessary complexity; the point is to use language as a vehicle for replacing reality with right-wing orthodoxy," Filipovic tweeted amid a lengthy thread.

One person responded to Filipovic's post by tweeting a gif of a baby and sarcastically declaring, "Behold! A advanced-age embryo."

Filipovic replied, "That's a baby Jerid."

"Here's the thing: 'Pro-life' folks say an 'unborn child' exists from the moment of conception. A fertilized egg is a child. An ectopic pregnancy is a child. But literally no one actually believes this -- including pro-lifers," Filipovic tweeted.

"Half of fertilized eggs do not implant, never form a pregnancy, and are flushed out of the body, but the pro-life movement has done nothing to save these lives. If you truly believe that a fertilized egg is a child, you're probably going to care even a little bit about that," she tweeted. "Do people believe that a fertilized egg is a human life? Yes. But that's different than 'a fertilized egg is the legal and moral equivalent of a child.' If anyone believed a fertilized egg was a child, they'd be spending time and money saving the majority of those eggs that die," she added.

Filipovic has previously claimed that men who have stay-at-home wives are more sexist compared to men whose wives work a job.

"More mothers at home makes for worse, more sexist men who see women as mommies and helpmeets. Men with stay-at-home wives are more sexist than men with working wives; they don’t assess women’s workplace contributions [fairly]; and they are less likely to hire and promote women," she tweeted earlier this year.

Army suspends retired three-star general for abortion tweet sent to Jill Biden

A retired three-star general has been suspended for replying to a Jill Biden tweet regarding abortion on Twitter.

Retired Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky was a former top spokesman for the Army and formerly in charge of the Army’s 101st Airborne Division. For his gallantry in Iraq, he was awarded the Silver Star – the third-highest military decoration for valor in combat.

Although he was retired, Volesky was working as a "highly qualified expert" and "senior mentor" – who was paid $92 an hour to advise active-duty officers, according to USA Today. Volesky's position was a civilian role and not an active member of the military.

On June 24, the first lady reacted to the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade by writing on Twitter: "For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make our own decisions about our bodies. Today, that right was stolen from us. And while we may be devastated by this injustice, we will not be silent. We will not sit back as the progress we have already won slips away."

Volesky sarcastically replied to Biden's tweet: "Glad to see you finally know what a woman is."

The tweet was a reference to Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson not being able to provide a definition of what a woman is since she is "not a biologist" during her nomination hearing in March.

Many liberals and Democrats have supported the idea that biological male transgender individuals can be women, thus have had difficulty answering the question: "What is a woman?"

Volesky later deleted the tweet.

Volesky has since been suspended. Lt. Gen. Theodore Martin – commander of the Combined Arms Center – suspended Volesky, according to Army spokesperson Cynthia Smith. The three-star general will remain under suspension while an "inquiry" occurs.

First lady Jill Biden made a surprise Mother's Day visit to Ukraine, White House confirms there are no plans for Joe to travel to Kyiv

First lady Jill Biden made a surprise visit to Ukraine this Sunday marking a rare solo as the spouse of a sitting president to visit an active war zone.

Fox News reported that the first lady entered Ukraine by crossing the border from Slovakia on Sunday morning after visiting with Ukrainian refugees at a processing center. Reportedly, she met with Ukrainian first lady Olen Zelenska. The Ukrainian first lady has not been seen in public since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Mrs. Biden said, “I wanted to come on Mother’s Day. I thought it was important to show the Ukrainian people that this war has to stop and this war has been brutal and that the people of the United States stand with the people of Ukraine.”

Zelenska praised her American counterpart for making a “courageous trip” which reportedly occurred as an impromptu stop on the U.S. first lady’s four-day trip to Eastern Europe without her husband.

The first ladies met in a small classroom in front of reporters before holding a private meeting. Zelenska and her children have reportedly remained in an undisclosed location due to safety concerns as Russian officials made it an early priority of their invasion to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and members of his family.

The two women later joined a group of children who live at the school where they met in making tissue-paper bears to give as Mother’s Day gifts.

The first lady’s visit to Ukraine marks the third high profile meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian officials.

In late April U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met with Zelenskyy to discuss the U.S. federal government’s role in providing the Ukrainian military with more than $300 million in financing. And in early May, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi along with the Democratic U.S. Reps. Jason Crow of Colorado, Jim McGovern of Massachusetts, Gregory Meeks of New York, and Adam Schiff of California met with Zelenskyy to show support for the Ukrainian government.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also visited Ukraine and held a private meeting with Zelenskyy in the country’s capital city of Kyiv.

President Joe Biden has yet to visit Ukraine or host Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy previously told CNN host Jake Tapper that he thought Biden ought t visit Ukraine because ‘’he is the leader of the United States, and that’s why he should come here to see.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki, however, confirmed that there are no plans to send Biden to Ukraine.

She said, “No. No, we are not sending the president to Ukraine.”

People push back after Jill Filipovic claims that 'Men with stay-at-home wives are more sexist than men with working wives'

Jill Filipovic asserted in a tweet on Tuesday that men who have stay-at-home wives are more sexist compared to husbands whose wives work a job.

"More mothers at home makes for worse, more sexist men who see women as mommies and helpmeets. Men with stay-at-home wives are more sexist than men with working wives; they don’t assess women’s workplace contributions fairy; and they are less likely to hire and promote women," tweeted Filipovic, who says in her Twitter biography that she is a writer, lawyer, and author.

Many women find fulfillment by choosing to be a stay-at-home mom. Unsurprisingly, Filipovic's comments lead to pushback from people on Twitter.

Kimberly Ross tweeted, "…And here I was, excited to leave FT employment outside the home to become a SAHM (by choice!) who also writes on the side. It was and continues to be a great decision for me and my family. I absolutely do not regret it."

"I see my wife as a mother (among other things.) I think that job is a thousand times more difficult and more important than writing a substack. But apparently that makes me sexist," National Review senior writer David Harsanyi tweeted.

"My husband is a VP at a bank and hires and promotes women all the time. I have been a SAHM for 31 years and none of what you say is true," another person tweeted.

"My husband is far from sexist and I am joyed with this life the Lord has given me. Women are *nothing more* than an easy to replace number in the working world. At home, they are someone's world. They are irreplaceable. More moms at home creates a healthier & stronger society," someone else tweeted.

"She got all wrong. It's a JOY to be a homemaker & serve my husband, but again these people don't know the Lord. God created women to be a helpmate and it says in Titus 2 that women are the keeper of the home. Culture does not rewrite the bible. And my husband is far from sexist," another individual tweeted.

Filipovic also said that moms who have jobs fare better emotionally and psychologically than women who opt to stay at home.

"Stay-at-home mothers are psychologically and emotionally worse off than working mothers by just about every measure, from depression to anxiety to anger; they are much more likely than working mothers to say that they are struggling, and less likely to say that they are thriving," she tweeted.

The Bidens celebrate their new cat as the economy worsens and global tensions rise

As global tensions rose and economic uncertainty plagued the American people this week, the Bidens welcomed a new four-legged friend into the White House.

The first lady’s office announced that America’s first family welcomed a two-year-old gray-and-white-striped cat named Willow to the White House.

Reuters reports that a spokesperson for Jill Biden, Michael LaRosa, confirmed that the young tabby cat — named Willow — was named after Mrs. Biden’s hometown of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.

— Jill Biden (@Jill Biden) 1643365487

According to LaRosa, Mrs. Biden met Willow at a campaign stop in 2020.

“A farm cat from Pennsylvania, Willow made quite an impression on Dr. Biden in 2020 when she jumped up on the stage and interrupted her remarks during a campaign stop in 2020,” LaRosa said, “Seeing their immediate bond, the owner of the farm knew that Willow belonged with Dr. Biden.”

While Willow may be living her American dream, many humanoid Americans are having an incredibly rough winter as the domestic economy aggressively trends downward and tensions continue to rise abroad.

Americans are watching their wages and savings evaporate due to inflation, and Russia continues to mass forces along Ukrainian borders.

Inflation increased by 7% last year, according to data provided by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is the biggest increase in inflation since the early 1980s, marking a 40-year high. Notably, core inflation — the inflationary rate not accounting for price fluctuation in things like food and gas — rose by 5.5%.

While the Biden White House celebrates the addition of a new pet to the first family’s rotating menagerie of critters, the American people are watching as their wages and savings shrink before their very eyes as the economy spirals down the drain.

American citizens are without evacuation assistance from the government and the American embassy in Kyiv has been closed, as Russia stands ready to attack and invade Ukraine. The U.S. State Department believes foreign intelligence shows “every indication” that Russia will use force against Ukraine by mid-February, reports Fox News.

The Washington Examiner reports that President Biden previously stated he has “no intention of putting American forces or NATO forces in Ukraine.” But, regardless of his intentions, American lives are still at risk and American interests abroad are being compromised.

According to the Associated Press, the first lady has been expecting Willow to move into the West Wing since last April. Whereas the legacy media and its left-wing acolytes might find the Bidens' new pet endearing, the American people continue to worry about what lies in the future.

Pat Gray: Our fearless leader, Joe Biden, lost his mask

On Friday's show, Pat Gray played two videos which he described as "very special for a special leader."

The first video featured President Joe Biden as he approached the microphone to address a crowd in Duluth, Georgia, to promote his first 100 days in office. The first 30 seconds of the clip showed a panicked President Biden searching for his mask. "I can't find my mask. I'm in trouble," Biden said to the crowd.

The second video shows President Biden and first lady Jill Biden walking toward Marine One headed for Georgia. In the clip, Biden stops to pick up a dandelion for Jill. Though the media had painted the interaction as romantic, Pat, Jeffy, and Keith had a different take. Watch the clip for more. Can't watch? Download the podcast here.

Feminist author suggests stay-at-home moms are unambitious and set a bad example for kids

Feminist author Jill Filipovic suggested on Twitter this week that stay-at-home moms set a bad example for their children because their decision "not to work" sends the message that they are not ambitious.

After sparking fury with her comments, she followed up with an apology for her "tone."

What are the details?

The Daily Wire reported that "Filipovic was reacting to a post from Slate concerning a man who was upset that his wife wanted to be a stay-at-home mother," and that "Slate's advice was to be more understanding with his wife."

"This is good advice, but man I feel for this letter-writer, because it's exactly how I would feel if my spouse decided they wanted to be a stay-at-home parent," Filipovic wrote in the launch of her lengthy thread. "Also... is it really ONLY her decision whether to quit working when she's then going to be entirely dependent on him?"

"I realize this is like the third rail of the Mommy Wars, but yeah, lots of super-ambitious people marry other super-ambitious people because they're attracted to ambition," she continued. "I would have a really, really hard time being married to a spouse who chose not to work."

Filipovic did not stop there, adding, "And now I am really going to get myself yelled at, but I also think the issue of example-setting for a kid is a totally fair one. What example are you setting when dad works for pay and mom does the care work at home? Lots of reasons not to want to set that example for a child."

And now I am really going to get myself yelled at, but I also think the issue of example-setting for a kid is a tot… https://t.co/pyBt7FadCW
— Jill Filipovic (@Jill Filipovic)1615393797.0

That comment was met with fierce backlash. A wave of stay-at-home mothers pushed back against Filipovic's assertions, along with people who expressed how grateful they were to be raised by stay-at-home moms. Husbands had choice words for the feminist, too.

Attorney Matthew Kolken told Filipovic, "My late wife was a stay at home mom. She lived for and ultimately died loving our children. It was her full time job. I can write so much more on this subject, but suffice it to say that belittling her decision to prioritize our children over 'work' f***ing pisses me off."

One person called Filipov's comments "unnecessarily condescending and dismissive," and another argued, "I mean, if she genuinely wants to stay at home and raise her kid, I guess she's setting the example that feminism should be about choice and that caregiving takes intelligence, hard work, and yes, ambition?"

On Thursday, Filipov tweeted, "Just want to take a sec to very sincerely apologize for the tone of this thread, which came across as far more flippant and judgmental than I intended. I maintain that it's good and important to defend all the good that comes from mothers working. But my phrasing was beyond bad."

She explained herself further before adding, "I could have approached this with more nuance and generosity, and for failing to do that, I am sorry."

Pennsylvania extends mail-in voting date until three days after election, removes Green Party from ballot

Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes went to Donald Trump, who won the state by a margin of just 45,000 votes. Green Party candidate Jill Stein won 49,000 votes in 2016.
