EXCLUSIVE: Jillian Michaels on why you should NEVER take Ozempic

They’re expensive, cause an array of side effects, and eventually stop working.

And yet Ozempic and other GLP1 drugs are more popular than ever — touted by celebrities and prescribed to millions of Americans convinced they’ve found their last, best chance of losing weight.

To those not willing to risk their mental health and quality of life for fleeting victory in their struggle with the scale, Michaels has a message of hope: 'Weight loss is simple.'

Nonsense, claims fitness and nutrition influencer Jillian Michaels.

'Zero weight loss'

In an email to Align, Michaels explained why the powerful peptides, which were originally prescribed for Type 2 diabetes and other diseases, are not the best pound-shedding solution for most people.

“The bottom line — they are extremely expensive. You plateau on them. The side effects are scary and the risk of experiencing the more serious ones increases over time,” says Michaels.

The good news? “There is a natural alternative.”

Michaels’ observations about GLP1 drugs reflect the experience of many who have failed to see any progress on the medication. One such user recently called in to the "Mind Pump" fitness podcast: “I’d been on semaglutide [Ozempic] for about six months and saw zero weight loss ... it was very, very frustrating.”

He had slightly more success after switching to a different GLP1 drug, the caller said, but he was still worried about the long-term: “My big question here is, what do you do when they don’t work, and what do you do when they stop working?”

Short-term fix

According to Michaels, his case is far from unique. Citing a survey from one of the country's biggest pharmacy benefit managers, Prime Therapeutics, Michaels noted that “66% of the people put on GLP1 drugs come off them within the first year citing cost, plateau, and side effects. And the risk for more serious side effects actually compounds over time.”

Yet, people remain desperate for these “miracle” drugs, even opting for unvetted knockoffs from online pharmacies. Late last year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration seized thousands of GLP1 products thought to be counterfeit, according to the New York Post.

Many consumers endanger themselves for what they believe offers their one shot at achieving a healthy weight. “That is simply just not true,” says Michaels, pointing to her record of helping thousands achieve these results with natural solutions.

Depression danger

While Michaels admits her way is not the easiest way, she does consider it the safest, scoffing at drugmakers’ claims that the long-term use of their products carries very little risk.

“I don’t even know how they arrive at that conclusion,” says Michaels. “The side effects are on the box because they are very legitimate.”

Those side effects include nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, stomach upset, and in more serious cases, pancreatitis or kidney failure. The drug has also been linked to over 100 deaths, according to the Daily Mail.

What’s even scarier? The thousands of cases reporting these adverse effects may just be the tip of the iceberg. “The FDA estimates that its Adverse Event Reporting System (AERS) only receives reports for 1–10% of adverse drug events,” says Michaels. The actual number of users experiencing harmful side effects could be tens of thousands more.

Michaels added that people are also more likely to be prescribed an antidepressant after starting a GLP1. This may have something to do with how the drug interacts with the brain’s “pleasure center.”

It’s hypothesized that these drugs impact dopamine release, making substances like food or drugs lose their appeal, continued Michaels. This benefits a person with addiction, Michaels says, but others open the door to depression, malaise, and lack of sex drive due to the same mechanism.

In short, Michaels believes these drugs are only right for a small minority of people such as the morbidly obese with a host of comorbidities or those battling addiction.

“For everyone else, these should NEVER be an option,” says Michaels.

A simpler way

To those not willing to risk their mental health and quality of life for fleeting victory in their struggle with the scale, Michaels has a message of hope: “Weight loss is simple.”

It all comes down to moving more and eating less. “Calories are units of energy. Energy that doesn’t get utilized from calorie intake gets stored as fat,” says Michaels.

In place of paying for Ozempic, Michaels recommends people spend money on goods and services that will encourage moving more and eating less: counseling, healthy food, and membership in a gym or other fitness community.

“Supporting yourself in all the ways possible inside and out goes a long way,” says Michaels.

Those who ditch Ozempic in favor of Michaels’ advice may find themselves experiencing a whole new range of positive “side effects,” including improved mental health, better sleep, and reduced chronic disease, according to a Mind Pump Media article.

Why Jillian Michaels left the left: 'Started as a COVID moment'

Jillian Michaels became a household name years ago as she built a fitness empire, but she’s only recently woken up politically — which she tells Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” “started as a COVID moment.”

Michaels recalls the Los Angeles restaurant policy requiring that “you had to wear a mask when you walked to the table, but as soon as you sat down you were below the COVID layer and you were all good.”

“It was the stupidest f***ing thing I had ever seen in my adult life. It was utterly nonsensical,” she tells Rubin.

“So, from that moment then, you started in essence seeing the lies, right? And then once you see the lies in one way, it’s everywhere,” Rubin comments.

“Not only do you begin to see the lies everywhere, they were growing at an exponential pace, Dave. It was just, it was bananas. We weren’t allowed to have conversations, and we were saying things I knew were true,” she responds.

Four years after waking up, Michaels — who is gay and married to a woman — is faced with a decision.

“So, you’ve woken up. You were, let’s say, a moderate lefty your entire life, not particularly political. You’ve now seen the light, all of the stuff. The election is in a couple days from now. Will you be voting for Donald Trump?” Rubin asks.

“I’m not influencing anyone’s vote, right? I’m not telling anyone who to vote for,” Michaels responds, adding, “I did vote for Donald Trump.”

“He was not my choice for the candidates that were running for the primary. I do understand his flaws, trust me, I could list all of them. But the problem for me is that it becomes a question of lesser evils,” she continues, listing the First Amendment, never-ending wars, and Big Pharma as several issues on the ballot.

Michaels believes these issues are especially important, considering that not only have they all been censored so heavily over the past four years but those who speak about them often face consequences.

“Then they shut down your social media, and then they fire you from your job. It will come for you,” she adds.

Bill Maher mocked claims that Biden would back out — will he ever admit he was wrong?

Months before Joe Biden stepped out of the presidential race, Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” predicted that would be the exact outcome.

Bill Maher, despite claiming he likes Rubin, did not agree in the slightest.

“This is a done deal,” Maher told Jillian Michaels in an interview on “Club Random with Bill Maher.” “There’s no serious people running against him and now the primary season is underway.”

“The rumors that even Dave Rubin and Megyn Kelly are talking about, that when they get to the Democratic convention, he’s going to quietly be like, ‘Oh you know what, not going to do it,’ and then somebody will slot themselves in,” Michaels argued back.

“This is pure conjecture. This is just people making s*** up,” Maher responded, while Michaels continued arguing that “respectable people in the news are suggesting it’s a possibility.”

“I like both Megyn and Dave, they’re respectable,” Maher said. “These two have a lot of looney ideas also, right-wing looney ideas.”

“This is something just something they pulled out of their a**, and it’s not going to happen,” he added.

The old clip has Rubin understandably amused, as shortly after Biden quietly dropped out of the 2024 election.

“Pulled it out of my a** man,” Rubin laughs.

‘That woke me up’: Ana Kasparian’s HORRIFYING story that made her leave the left

Ana Kasparian of “The Young Turks” has notoriously preached Democratic talking points — but it seems her perspective has since shifted.

In a recent interview, Kasparian made this clear when she explained to Jillian Michaels that she has left the left after realizing the dangers of “wokeism.”

“In 2022, it was around March, I was walking my dog. It was not quite dark yet, but the sun was setting. As I’m walking my dog, I see these two guys that were just kind of like moving around weirdly. You know, they seemed kind of manic,” she explained.

“Their clothes were tattered, so I just knew that they were probably homeless, and I also knew that they’re probably on something just based on the twitchy way they were acting,” she continued. “As I was bending down to pick up my dog's mess, one of the guys grabs me by my hips and he had an erection.”

“I didn’t know what to do; I was terrified. I didn’t have a weapon on me; I had no way of defending myself. I didn’t know how far it was going to go, 'cause it’s two guys. I’m by myself with my little dog. It was one of the most terrifying things ever.”

When she decided to open up about it on her own show, she was met with harsh blowback — including being called “racist” despite never disclosing the race of the men who did it.

“I’m starting to get these messages and it’s like really harsh stuff, and it’s about how you are painting a picture of the homeless community, you know, ‘How could you be like this, these are your unhoused neighbors and they need help,’” she told Michaels, adding, “That woke me up.”

Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” is thrilled to see her change her mind.

“I am always very enthused when someone wakes up, and it’s interesting that it takes something so personal, like say a drug-addicted homeless guy with a boner attacking you, that will get people to wake up. So I would say that is a net good,” he says.

Jillian Michaels: 'CNN branded me as crazy'

No wonder Jillian Michaels is the newest voice on Bill Maher’s Club Random Studios network.

Maher famously says his progressive views haven’t changed. Democrats shifted so far to the left Michaels no longer fits the party’s brand.

'It’s irrefutable that a person born a male is going to have a continuum of physical advantages in sports. There’s a good amount of data to back this up. ... Data is greater than feelings.'

Michaels knows the feeling.

“I went from left to center-left to center to now a little bit center-right,” the “Keeping It Real with Jillian Michaels” host told Align. “I haven’t changed in my mind ... the world is changing around me.”

A political football

The fitness guru came out against trans females competing against biological women, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s radical politics, and more in recent years.

This lesbian mother of two is the first to decry corporate media bias as well. In fact, she’s living proof.

She recently appeared on CNN to purportedly discuss the widespread use of Ozempic. Michaels prefers an old-school dieting approach — exercise, healthy food, and moderation — to a drug with uncertain side effects.

“All I do all day long is talk to M.D.s and Ph.D.s,” she said, “CNN branded me as crazy.”

And she knows why.

“Health has become a political football ... losing weight has become political,” she said, adding that the American Academy of Pediatrics has greenlit children as young as 12 being given Ozempic for their battles of the bulge.

She said she’s dubbed an “anti-vaxxer” for asking questions about the COVID-19 shots despite having had “every vaccine.” And she’s aghast at how vigorously social media platforms censor speech and those with so-called problematic views.

Zero tolerance

“We should be able to discuss [subjects] without being shut down and silenced,” she said. “I thought that being on the left meant you were the tolerant party. We wanted everybody to live free.”

Talking with her wife, Deshanna Marie Minuto, a Trump supporter, helped open her eyes. The modern left “is the least tolerant,” her wife told her. At first, she disagreed. “We’d fight constantly, but I started to see it after 2020,” Michaels said.

She’ll do plenty of talking on “Keeping It Real,” the video version of her audio podcast. The show lets Michaels weigh in on challenging topics without filters or shame.

A recent episode featured journalist Michael Shellenberger sharing inconvenient truths about “gender-affirming care” for children that the media avoids.

Michaels isn’t attacking those who disagree with her worldview. She calls it the Dale Carnegie approach, citing his seminal tome “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”

“It’s tough. You want to feel safe, like you’ve nestled into a clan. At the same time, there’s a bigger goal, to get people to the table, to talk, to listen, to understand,” she said. “Once you understand where the other side is coming from, then from that point, you present your own positions. You’ve built up some good will.”

She thinks that’s sorely missing in the modern media landscape.

She began to notice a cultural shift roughly a decade ago. At the time, she was changing her representation following her exit from NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”

40 and white

A new potential agency gave her a curious warning.

“You’re 40 and you’re white. It’s gonna be tough for you,” she recalled of the conversation. “Who cares? I‘m still great at what I do. I have a tremendous track record of being good at what I do,” she added, including an Emmy nomination and multiple best-selling books.

Part of her welcomed the diversity push. As the mother of a black child, she hoped her daughter would have more opportunities moving forward.

Good.

Not so good? The bigger picture where skin color mattered more than achievements. The “new” thinking suddenly included weight loss tips being framed as “fat shaming” and the government overreach tied to the 2020 pandemic.

Yes, the fitness queen invoked the “W” word. Woke.

Michaels wades into culture war issues without fear or hesitation. She once penned an op-ed detailing the evidence against trans females competing against biological women.

“It’s irrefutable that a person born a male is going to have a continuum of physical advantages in sports. There’s a good amount of data to back this up,” she said, adding we should come up with creative solutions that allow trans athletes to play sports in a fair, appropriate way. “Data is greater than feelings.”

Except she couldn’t find an outlet brave enough to consider it.

“Nobody, and I mean nobody, would print that piece on the center or the center-left,” she recalled.

Weight loss tips

At 50, Michaels looks as trim as a 20-something influencer. And she’s ready with solid advice on how others can slim down in a healthy, reasonable fashion.

“Invest in a walking pad,” she said of the modestly-priced gadget. “Walk when you’re using your computer, answering emails or watching your favorite show.”

No more excuses about the weather being too cold, hot, or rainy, she said.

“Do 10,000 steps a day,” she said. She recommends getting one of the many simple phone apps to track said steps. “You don’t need a fancy Apple watch.”

Eat whatever you want, she added, with a heaping helping of common sense. Cheetos and Doritos are not the ideal choice.

Need to splurge? Binge on green vegetables.

“Go crazy! Fill up to your heart’s content. It’s loaded with fiber,” she said.

Still struggling? She recommends an online support community, Overeaters Anonymous or a MeetUp.com tribe, for moral support.
