Critics ask whether DOJ will give Jimmy Kimmel the Douglass Mackey treatment for 'election interference'

Critics are wondering whether the Biden-Harris Department of Justice will hold Jimmy Kimmel to the same standard to which it held pro-Trump social media influencer Douglass Mackey, who was convicted for supposed "election interference" and sentenced to prison last year for memes.

There is cause to be skeptical. After all, the DOJ has a habit of holding conservatives to a higher standard than its ideological allies.

Former Trump advisers Stephen Bannon and Peter Navarro were convicted for supposed contempt of Congress, whereas Attorney General Merrick Garland and former Attorney General Eric Holder got off scot-free. The proudly pro-abortion DOJ has almost exclusively targeted pro-life activists when it comes to FACE Act charges. The same DOJ adopted a draconian and in some cases "fact-free approach" when prosecuting Jan. 6 protesters after previously treating Black Lives Matter rioters with kid gloves.

The titular host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" has recently made a number of desperate appeals to potential voters, asking them to get out and vote — just not for President Donald Trump.

In his monologue Wednesday, the Harris booster said, "You have to vote. If you can vote early, vote early. If you can't vote early, vote on time. If you want to vote for Trump, vote late. Vote very late. Do your voting on Thursday or maybe Friday."

'Biden's DOJ sent Douglass Mackey to prison for sharing this same joke.'

Libs of TikTok responded, "Wasn't Douglass Mackey sentenced to prison for doing something similar? Will @TheJusticeDept investigate Jimmy Kimmel?"

Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) noted, "Douglass Mackey was sent to prison for this."

"Biden's DOJ sent Douglass Mackey to prison for sharing this same joke about Hillary," tweeted former Salomon Brothers and Citigroup investment banker John LeFevre. "Another example of the weaponized lawfare and two-tiered justice that awaits us if Kamala wins."

Mackey chimed in, tweeting, "Jimmy Kimmel told his joke to an audience of millions. The joke meme I sent out didn't even reach more than 100 people until Buzzfeed and Wired reported on it."

Mackey was arrested in 2021, convicted in New York for supposed "election interference," and sentenced in October 2023 to seven months in prison by an Obama-appointed judge, Ann M. Donnelly.

At the time, Trump said, "They're putting Douglass Mackey in jail for sharing a joking meme about Hillary Clinton seven years ago. Nobody ever heard of anything like that."

According to the Biden-Harris DOJ, "Between September 2016 and November 2016, Mackey conspired with other influential Twitter users and with members of private online groups to use social media platforms, including Twitter, to disseminate fraudulent messages that encouraged supporters of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to 'vote' via text message or social media which was legally invalid."

The Intercept noted that there is no federal law against lying about election mechanisms or the electoral process. Mackey was instead indicted under a Reconstruction-era statue known as Section 241 or the "Ku Klux Klan Act," which prohibits conspiring to "injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person" trying to exercise a constitutionally or federally protected right.

The DOJ was evidently proud of the mental gymnastics required to charge the Clinton critic, stating that his prosecution was "groundbreaking."

Mackey is appealing his case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Supreme Court, should that fail.

According to Mackey and amici curiae, "The First Amendment tolerates narrow, clear statutes that target knowingly false speech concerning the time, place, and manner, or other technical mechanics of an election. But Section 241 is not such a statute. This Court should reverse the decision of the district court."

"When I made an election joke, the Deep State used it as a pretext to conduct a fishing expedition against me, subpoenaing all financial records, leases, employment information and pay stubs, and email accounts. Will Jimmy Kimmel enjoy the same?" Mackey tweeted on Thursday.

'Force these scumbags to live by their own rules.'

One X user noted that Kimmel's "violation is worse than what [Mackey was] convicted for, and he transmitted this over federally licensed airwaves. The @FCC, @FBI, #FEC and #DOJ should be contacted, @ABC should be immediately sanctioned, and @Jimmykimmel needs to be investigated. Anything less is selective and preferential justice."

Rob Eno, Blaze Media's director of content marketing, quipped, "It would be a real shame if everyone flooded the US DOJ crime tip line and ask them to charge Jimmy Kimmel with the same crime they charged Douglass Mackey with. A real shame. I'm not telling you to to go this link and do it."

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh tweeted, "I'm dead serious when I say if Trump wins he should have Jimmy Kimmel arrested and jailed. Force these scumbags to live by their own rules."

'You want to test God?!' Golf course altercation leads to intense flex-off over stray ball

A man became incensed after he was antagonized by a group of golfers who claimed he took a woman's ball, resulting in the man getting shirtless and challenging another man to a fight.

The incident occurred at the Crooked Creek Golf Course in southeast Michigan, according to OutKick, which described the area where the exchange took place as chaotic. The specific location is reportedly where three holes on the course converge, with netting even positioned to prevent golfers from hitting one another.

"We got a 'Karen' on the golf course," the TikTok video began, as an unknown individual recorded a golfer in a green and white-striped shirt holding a ball.

The group reportedly alleged that the man took the ball after it landed near him and refused to return it.

"You’ll leave after I don’t give you a goddamn thing.”

"I'm going to take your clubs," a woman off-screen said.

"Then leave! I'm going to stand here and you can complain, goodbye," the man continued saying to a person who was not seen. "You're the one who approached me and I asked her to no longer speak."

"You took her ball!" a woman is heard complaining.

"Please don't speak to me," the man answered.

"Bro, you took her ball," another man chimed in.

While still arguing with his original combatant, the golfer began to escalate the discussion by saying "I'll plant you, bitch boy. Get the f**k off the cart!" before quickly removing his shirt and flexing in a fit of rage.

"You see that! That’s a dude that’s been to heaven, bitch," he screamed. "You want to test God? You f**king come get it, s**t stack!”

"You think I'm mentally ill?" the man asked.

"I know you're mentally ill," a woman responded.

"Leave me alone," the man added as the group of golfers each drove away in their carts.

Elon Musk has HILARIOUS response after Jimmy Kimmel calls him a 'fully-formed piece of s**t'

On “The Rubin Report,” BlazeTV host Dave Rubin talked about Jimmy Kimmel’s attack on Elon Musk after the new "chief twit" suggested there just might be "a tiny possibility" that there's more to the Paul Pelosi attack story "than meets the eye" — and Musk’s hilarious response.

Shortly after the recent attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) husband, Hillary Clinton took to Twitter to blame Republicans for political violence despite the lack of concrete proof that the suspect – David DePape – was actually motivated by politics.

"The Republican Party and its mouthpieces now regularly spread hate and deranged conspiracy theories. It is shocking, but not surprising, that violence is the result. As citizens, we must hold them accountable for their words and the actions that follow," Clinton tweeted, adding a link to a Los Angeles Times article claiming that DePape's personal blog is proof positive of his supposed Republican affiliations. However, digital archives indicate that DePape's blog may have been registered after the incriminating blog entries were allegedly posted.

Musk responded to Clinton's unfounded allegations by tweeting, "There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye."

This is where Kimmel jumped into the fray, tweeting, “It has been interesting, over the years, to watch you blossom from the electric car guy into a fully-formed piece of s**t," to which Musk responded with a simple sarcastic emoji.

Outrage mob turns on Jimmy Kimmel after he usurps Quinta Brunson's Emmy Award acceptance

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is being accused of using his "white privilege" to upstage Quinta Brunson at the Emmy Awards ceremony.

What happened?

While Brunson, creator and lead actress of ABC's hit show "Abbott Elementary," was accepting her award for best Writing for a Comedy Series, Kimmel acted out a skit in which Brunson was forced to step over his body.

When it was time to present the award, Will Arnett dragged Kimmel's body onto the stage and joked about Kimmel having drunk too many "skinny margaritas." But Kimmel never got up, and Brunson was forced to give her acceptance speech while standing over his body.

To her credit, Brunson remained professional throughout, gave a touching speech, and then left the stage.

The antics, however, did not go over well.

In fact, fans, especially black fans, saw the incident as yet another instance of a white man stealing the spotlight from the accomplishments of black women.

  • "If #QuintaBrunson stepping over #JimmyKimmel who literally laid in her spotlight on the day she won an Emmy isn’t a metaphor for what it means to be a [women of color] in a white mans world I don’t know what is," Boston University professor Heba Gowayed said.
  • "Jimmy Kimmel should have left the stage during Quinta’s speech. Highly disrespectful," HuffPost editor Philip Lewis said.
  • "Jimmy Kimmel owes Quinta an apology but the messed up part is every image of her accepting her award has his a** in it.White men really are insufferable," Candice Marie Benbow said.
  • "To me, what Jimmy Kimmel did is worst than Will Smith," one person said.
  • "Where’s Will Smith when you need him?" another person reacted.
  • "Just a reminder of how Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t seem to be able to let Black folks shine in really important moments," April Reign said.
  • "I don’t know of a better example of invasive white male privilege than Jimmy Kimmel laying in the middle of Quinta Brunson’s #Emmys2022 speech. He had no business/right to take up space in the way that he did," another person said.
  • "Caucasity is centering your unfunny self and joke as someone wins their first Emmy Award. Jimmy Kimmel ol’ by golly whillickers face a** owes Quinta an apology. Foolishness," Luvvie Ajayi said.
  • "I really don't know how to define white, male privilege more clearly than Jimmy Kimmel not getting out of the way of Quinta Brunson's moment," another person said.

What did Brunson say later?

After the awards ceremony, Brunson was asked about Kimmel's controversial skit. She responded with total grace.

"I know Jimmy Kimmel, and I don’t know, I felt like the bit didn’t bother me that much. I don’t know what the internet thinks," she said. "I know him. Jimmy gave me my first big late-night spot and was one of the first people to see ‘Abbott.' He Instagram messaged me that he saw this comedy and thought it was one of the greatest comedies of all time and he was so excited it was going to be on ABC."

"So in that moment I think I was just really happy that it was Jimmy up there. I kind of consider him one of the comedy godfathers," she continued.

"Tomorrow maybe I’ll be mad at him. I’m going to be on his show on Wednesday, so I might punch him in the face," she quipped. "I don’t know. We'll see what happens."

Jimmy Kimmel says 'sexism and racism' are the 'obvious' reasons for Kamala Harris' 28% approval rating. But observers are having absolutely none of it.

Late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel punctuated a sometimes humorous segment focusing on wildly unpopular Vice President Kamala Harris by saying "sexism and racism" are the "obvious" reasons for her 28% approval rating among Americans.

One might take such a statement as another attempt at a joke, but Kimmel's tone came across as anything but humorous when he made his "sexism and racism" statement:

.@jimmykimmel: The reason @VP Harris is so unpopular is because Americans are sexist and racistpic.twitter.com/Bnhzpvvnrd

— Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) 1636543865

How did folks react?

Observers on Twitter weren't about to accept yet another tired charge of American "sexism and racism" to cover for Harris' failings:

  • "Or the fact she said she believed all the accusations of sexual assault against Joe Biden then immediately became his VP running mate," one commenter noted. "Integrity? What's that?"
  • "No, she's incompetent and has a nasty personality," another user said. "Did you see her 'talk' with 'school age children' about NASA. She was totally incompetent and had to hire child actors to play the role."
  • "The reason Harris is unpopular is because she has no personality," another commenter said. "Comes off so phony & I'm guessing her little space TV show with child actors didn't help her fake persona. And yes, the nervous cackle response to hard questions is annoying. Assholes come in all colors & genders."
  • "Imagine when you have almost nothing to do, and you still fail miserably in it. That is what you have with @VP," another user said. "She was asked to go to the border...did she? Has she done anything to improve that situation? You know the answer @jimmykimmel, and it's not race or gender."

And a few folks dug their claws into Kimmel over his decidedly hypocritical "sexism and racism" call out. Here's one striking example:

As many folks know, Kimmel openly engaged in plenty of sexism and racism on Comedy Central's "The Man Show," long before his higher profile job on late-night TV. And when America's reckoning with race took place in 2020, Kimmel's past caught up with him, culminating with him issuing a rather defensive apology for wearing blackface numerous times onscreen (apparently without using the word "blackface," mind you).

Social media shreds Jimmy Kimmel for joking about ICE deporting John Oliver during Emmy Awards

Social media castigated comedian and TV host Jimmy Kimmel on Sunday night following remarks he made about calling ICE on a fellow talk show host during the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

The awards show was held virtually, and the nominees — dressed in typically ostentatious awards ceremony garb — livestreamed themselves from their homes in a production that resembled a vast conference call.

What did Kimmel say?

Kimmel, following news that he lost the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Talk Series to British TV host John Oliver, made a joke about calling Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Oliver.

Oliver's show — which is broadcast on HBO — has won the award for the last five years.

As highlighted by the Daily Mail, Kimmel quipped, "Congratulations again to John Oliver. I will be reporting him to ICE."

In response, social media said that Kimmel was guilty of using "white privilege" in making such an off-handed remark.

— Jimmy Kimmel (@Jimmy Kimmel)1600653124.0

What was the response?

A bevy of social media users took to their respective channels to condemn Kimmel for the remark.

One user wrote, "The amount of white privilege it took for jimmy kimmel to get up on stage at a nationally televised event and make a joke about ice and not have one tell him that it isn't okay, is absolutely astonishing to me."

Another added, "[I] don't think Kimmel is all that funny. Particularly when he jokes about ICE and the systemic terror that they cause, or any of his other highly weird jokes."

"My dad was deported," another user wrote. "He was literally placed on a plane with two federal agents. He was in chains. He was dropped off at Heathrow Airport and that's it."

Another user complained, "I didn't know that it was needed, but @jimmykimmel making a joke about calling #ICE on @iamjohnoliver is not only poor taste, but completely out of touch w/ everything happening right now."

"Happy Hispanic Heritage Month from the #Emmy's where the only Latinx representation we got was Count von Count ft. Lin Manuel [and] America Ferrara presenting an award and Jimmy Kimmel's tasteless and hurtful ICE joke," another user said.

Another added, "[J]immy kimmel should be kicked off the show for making an ice joke."

Kimmel has yet to respond to the ensuing controversy at the time of this reporting.

Of note, Oliver became an American citizen in December.

Anything else?

In June, Kimmel admitted to benefiting from white privilege.

During a monologue on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" the longtime TV host said that he understood the damage caused by the notion of white privilege and said that he and other white people shouldn't be offering insight on the police killing of George Floyd, who died the last week in May.

"Over the past week, I've been hearing, I've been reading very thoughtful posts and words from very smart people, some of whom say white people shouldn't be talking right now, they should be listening. And I get that," he said during the monologue. "And I don't disagree with that. But I'm the only one here and it's a talk show. So, I want to share what I've been thinking about and trying to sort through."

“I know that a lot of white people bristle when they hear the word 'privilege,' as in 'white privilege,' because there are millions of white people who didn't grow up with money, or a good education, or a solid family background, or maybe even a family at all," he said. "So when they hear the word 'privilege,' they go, 'What privilege? ... You hear the phrase 'white privilege' and it's easy to get defensive. The first time I heard it, I did. To me, white privilege was what Donald Trump had, a wealthy father and a silver spoon in his mouth. It wasn't what I grew up with, so I rejected it because I didn't understand what white privilege meant. But I think I do now. I think I at least understand some of it."

He added that white people don't often have to deal with "negative assumptions being made about us based on the color of our skin."

"It rarely happens, if ever, whereas black people experience that every day. And please don't tell me you don't ever make assumptions based on the color of their skin, because I just don't believe it," he insisted. "We all do. I know I have. I'm embarrassed to say it, but I have."

He concluded, "I read something last night that I think makes a lot of sense. It's this: 'White privilege doesn't mean your life hasn't been hard. It just means the color of your skin isn't one of the things that makes it harder.' Wherever you stand, I don't see how you can argue with that."
