Sore Liu-ser: Multimillionaire 'Kill Bill' star gripes about 'Caucasian'-heavy Hollywood

Boo-hoo, Lucy Liu.

The veteran actress is in the awards season mix for “Rosemead,” the tale of an immigrant grappling with a troubled teenage son. That means she’s working the press circuit, talking to as many media outlets as she can to promote a possible Best Actress nomination.

No more peeks at Erivo’s extended, Freddy Krueger-like nails or Grande waving away a helicopter overhead as if it were about to swoop down on them.

If you think political campaigns are cynical, you haven’t seen an actor push for a golden statuette. That may explain why Liu shared her victimhood story with the Hollywood Reporter.

Turns out the chronically employed star (123 acting credits, according to IMDB.com) hasn’t been employed enough, by her standards.

I remember being like, "Why isn't there more happening?" ... I didn't want to participate in anything where I felt like they weren't even taking me seriously. How am I being given these offers that are less than when I started in this business? It was a sign of disrespect to me, and I didn't really want that. I didn't want to acquiesce to that ... I cannot turn myself into somebody who looks Caucasian, but if I could, I would've had so many more opportunities.

Liu has had the kind of career most actors would kill to duplicate. That doesn’t play on the identity politics guilt of her peers though. Nor is it fodder for a “woe is me” awards speech ...

Rest for the 'Wicked'

That’s a wrap!

The “Wicked: For Good” press push got the heave-ho earlier this week when star Cynthia Erivo reportedly lost her voice. Co-star Ariana Grande pulled out of her appearances in solidarity.

Yup. Not remotely suspicious.

The duo made way too many headlines last year during their initial “Wicked” press tour. Why? It was just ... weird. Odd. Creepy. The stars’ emaciated appearance didn’t help, but their kooky, collective affect was off-putting, to be kind.

Even the Free Press called out the duo’s sadly emaciated state.

They trotted out more of the same for round two, and someone had the good sense to yank them off the stage before the bulletproof sequel hit theaters Nov. 21.

No more peeks at Erivo’s extended, Freddy Krueger-like nails or Grande waving away a helicopter overhead as if it were about to swoop down on them.

Any publicity is good publicity, right? Not when it’s wickedly cringe ...

Face for radio

John Oliver thinks it’s 1985.

HBO's far-left lip flapper is furious that the Trump administration stripped NPR of its federal funding. Who will ignore senile presidents and laptop scandals without our hard-earned dollars?

Think of the children!

Never mind that Americans have endless ways to access news, from AM radio to TV, satellite, cable, and streaming options. Heck, just pick up a $20 set of rabbit ears, and you’ll get a crush of local TV stations in many swathes of the country.

You have to live in a bunker a hundred feet below the earth to avoid the news.

Oliver, to his credit, put his money where his mouth is. Or at least, your money. He set up a public auction to raise cash for NPR stations.

Why? Because we’re all going to croak without it. That’s assuming you didn’t die following the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and the lack of net neutrality.

“Public radio saves lives. The emergency broadcast system. Without it, people would die."

A second-rate satirist might have a field day with anyone pushing the “you’ll die without X, Y, or Z” card. Alas Oliver doesn’t warrant that ranking ...

'Running' on empty

Rising star status ain’t what it used to be.

Glen Powell seemed like the next Tom Cruise for a hot minute. Handsome. Affable. Unwilling to insult half the country. He stole a few moments during “Top Gun: Maverick” and powered a mediocre rom-com — 2023’s “Anyone but You” — into a $220 million global hit.

So when Hollywood handed him the keys to the “Running Man” remake, the industry assumed he had finally arrived. Give him his “I’m on the A-List” smoking jacket.

That’s until the remake’s opening weekend numbers came in. Or rather trickled in. That $16 million-plus haul just won’t cut it.

Now Powell’s next film is under the microscope. The project dubbed “Huntington” just got a last-minute name change to “How to Make a Killing.” The film follows Powell’s character as he tries to ensure he’ll inherit millions from his uber-wealthy family. That’s despite getting cast out of the clan’s good graces.

The movie now has a Feb. 20 release date, hardly a key window for an A-lister like Powell.

Then again, his time on the A-list may have already expired.

Last week for John Oliver? Barmy Brit fears Trump will put him on ICE

We can’t lose John Oliver too!

Liberals are still reeling over Stephen Colbert’s slow-motion cancellation over at CBS’ “The Late Show.” The gnashing of teeth may keep dentists busy for months.

Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio. The “Aviator” alum is at the top of his game. We also hear he’s a pretty good actor — when he’s not honing his cradle-snatching craft.

Now, the host of “Last Week Tonight” warns that Herr Trump could pluck him off the street at any given moment, ICE-style. Oliver is an immigrant, after all, as he told broadcasting newbie Monica Lewinsky on her “Reclaiming” podcast. (Yeah, that Monica Lewinsky.)

“With all these stories going on, it brings something out of you. Like, it’s there, that anxiety that I thought I’d moved past that day that I got my citizenship.”

Oliver is a legal U.S. citizen, despite his snooty accent. So he has nothing to fear save HBO realizing its investment in his low-rated show may not be the wisest decision moving forward ...

Friendship ended with JD

Ron Howard is scared too.

The Oscar winner is 71, and his once white-hot career has cooled. His “Solo: A Star Wars Story” under-performed in 2018. Recent films like “Thirteen Lives” got little attention. His latest project, “Eden,” hits select theaters this weekend after a stint on the proverbial shelf.

The buzz factor? Zero point zero, despite the presence of a certain jeans spokesperson.

Worst of all for the former Opie Cunningham? His name will forever be attached to the next Hitler, Vice President JD Vance.

Howard directed “Hillbilly Elegy,” the 2019 film version of Vance’s best-selling autobiography. For that, Howard must be punished. So the director is doing it before anyone else can.

He told Vulture that he doesn’t think about the film anymore. That’s a good start, Ronny, but keep going!

He acknowledges that critics roasted it, while audiences dug it, hinting at a cultural divide at play. Wait ... that isn’t helping.

Howard also lashed out at Vance, saying he “wouldn’t have expected his rhetoric to be as divisive as it sometimes is. By the way, I’m not following him or listening to every word.”

Well done, sir. Bravo!

Phew. Damage control accomplished ...

Lost in 'found'

Wait. I thought we were done with found-footage films.

Blame 1999’s “The Blair Witch Project” for sparking a run of cheap horror movies told through the eyes of amateur filmmakers. Shaky cameras. Improvised dialogue. Increasingly crazy reasons for not dropping the camera and running like heck.

Yeah, that trend needed to die. And it did. Mostly.

We recently saw “Found Footage: The Making of the Patterson Project.” The indie horror comedy didn’t technically use that format, but the film within a film sure did. And, wouldn’t you know it, it proved both funny and spooky.

Now, a true-blue found-footage feature is hitting theaters at month’s end.

The Workout” follows an Army Ranger (Peter Jae) and his pregnant wife (Galadriel Stineman), filming an exercise video. A mob hit kills the wife, leaving her widower on a mission to film his revenge on those who snuffed out his beloved bride. His unborn child somehow survived the attack, and the revenge footage will show the kid how its late mother’s killers were brought to justice.

Not a bad elevator pitch, but we’re pretty much done with those shaky camera scenes at this point, no? If “The Workout” makes a dent at the box office, it could be “Found Footage: The Sequel” heading our way ...

Forever young(ish)

Here’s an idea for a new Hollywood trend: self-awareness boot camp. No $50 smoothies, no herbalist-led cleanses, no past-life regression. Just someone to do for them what life does to the rest of us for free: smack some sense into them.

The first client? Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio. The “Aviator” alum is at the top of his game. We also hear he’s a pretty good actor — when he’s not honing his cradle-snatching craft.

Yes, everybody knows DiCaprio for his penchant for dating much younger woman. Everybody, perhaps, except the 50-year-old star himself.

Recently, director Paul Thomas Anderson asked him one simple question: “If you didn’t know how old you are, how old are you right now?”

“32,” the actor said.

Cue the social media memes. This one sums it up nicely: “Even in his mind, he’s still older than his girlfriends.”

John Oliver goes full ‘biology denier’ in defense of trans athletes

The star of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight,” comedian John Oliver, has made his stance on men competing in women’s sports clear. That is, he loves it and would like to see more of it.

The comedian played a Fox News clip where the hosts were discussing a United Nations report that revealed the amount of medals women have lost to transgender athletes — 600 female athletes have lost close to 900 medals because of their transgender opponents.

“Yeah, 900 medals. That is a go-to statistic. It was even cited on the floor of the Senate during their debate over a trans sports ban and featured prominently in J.K. Rowling’s latest tome,” Oliver said to a laughing audience. “But we got curious about that number, so we looked at that report, and it turns out, first, it wasn’t produced by the U.N.”

“It was submitted to it by a special rapporteur, who herself said its findings do not necessarily represent those of the U.N. And if you go online to the footnote that it cites and click on it, you get sent to this website She Won, where anyone could submit an instance of a cis woman losing to a trans woman anywhere in the world, in any competition, big or small,” he added.

Oliver went on to claim that the content on the She Won website is published by random people on the internet and that there are women in sports, like disc golf, who are “happy” to see trans people join them on the field.

Stu Burguiere of “Stu Does America” isn’t as amused as Oliver’s audience, as he knows that what Oliver is saying isn’t funny, true, or helpful.

Burguiere points out that the organization She Won also saw Oliver’s monologue and wrote in a post on X, “First, John Oliver leads viewers to believe that the content on SheWon.org is directly published by random people on the internet. This is totally false. We encourage people to submit tips, and our team of volunteers reviews each entry before we publish anything.”

“We only publish what we can verify from primary and secondary sources. We state this methodology clearly on our website, so check one off for deliberately misleading viewers,” the post continued.

But that’s not all Oliver got wrong.

“Second, John Oliver also suggests that our data is stale, mentioning that it dates back to the year 2001. This is extraordinarily misleading. 97% of our data is dated no earlier than 2014. 86% is from 2019 and onward. Check another off,” the X post revealed.

“Third, John Oliver attacks our org to discredit the idea that a significant number of women are displaced by male athletes in women’s competitions. This is absurd because She Won does not purport to provide a comprehensive list of every woman denied a medal to male athletes,” they added.

“This is one of the typical go-to arguments of people saying that conservatives or sane people are wrong when it comes to this issue. ‘Come on, barely ever happens,’” Burguiere mocks. “Something they will never admit, but at the end of the day, I don’t know, you probably have one, maybe two daughters.”

“It’s happening to them. It kind of makes a big difference in your life, doesn’t it? It might not be as big of an issue as some nationwide pandemic, but it’s a pretty big issue, especially when it hits your family,” he adds.

‘Comedian’ John Oliver manipulates millions of sad leftists

So-called comedian John Oliver has captivated millions who tune into his HBO show to hear his far-left shtick — but how has he done it?

“He’s a comedian. He does sort of Jon Stewart-ish type monologues on HBO. These go very viral on YouTube and other places. And they are very, very important to the left. When the guy comes out and does one of these monologues, it kind of turns into doctrine, right, on the left,” Stu Burguiere of “Stu Does America” explains.

And Oliver certainly plays it up.

In a recent interview with Stephen Colbert, Colbert said to Oliver, “You are a recent citizen. How do you feel? Are you still going to stick it out? You going to head back to England?”

“Oh no, I’m sticking it out,” Oliver replied. “I’m going down with the Titanic.”

“So that’s their view of America,” Stu comments. “And it’s an interesting, different, probably different view than the one you have, right? Donald Trump’s come in. He’s done some really good things, not everything I agree with, frankly. But there’s been some really, really good things done.”

“It does seem like things are going the way conservatives want them to go, but also kind of a more, I don’t know, fundamentally American way right now, right?” Stu continues, before adding, “And let me give you sense as to how John Oliver is seeing things so far.”

“The next four years are going to feel incredible. The potential for pain is devastating, as is the sheer amount that’s already been doled out. We see wealthy, powerful men use the levers of government for their personal advantage, as well as their personal grievances, and we’re being governed by people who think good public policy consists of cutting off funding to anyone who isn’t me, make it illegal to mention people who are different from me, and let’s steal Canada while we’re at it,” Oliver said in a recent monologue.

“Many of those that we’ve elected to fight back seem to be resting on their heels, waiting for their pitch. This is all bonkers, terrifying, and darkly absurd. It is worse than we thought, and we thought about it a lot,” he added.

Stu can’t help but be amused.

“It just shows how miserable the left is right now,” he laughs.

Clarence Thomas' own words torch John Oliver after he tries to bribe Thomas to retire from the Supreme Court

If Clarence Thomas' past remarks are any indication, the Supreme Court justice has no plans to heed John Oliver's demand that he "get the f*** off the Supreme Court."

On Sunday, Oliver, an alleged comedian, offered to pay Thomas $1 million per year and give him a new $2.4 million Prevost luxury motor coach if he retires from the Supreme Court.

— (@)

Oliver's unfunny monologue repeated many debunked accusations and suggestions that Thomas is guilty of unethical behavior.

"Justice Thomas, we have a special offer for you tonight: We are prepared to offer you $1 million a year — for the rest of your life — if you simply agree to leave the Supreme Court immediately and never come back," Oliver said on his show.

"Lot on your plate right now. From stripping away women’s rights to hearing Jan. 6 cases you definitely shouldn’t be hearing to potentially helping roll back decades of federal regulations," he added. "You deserve a break away from the meanness of Washington, so you can be surrounded by the regular folks whose lives you made demonstrably worse for decades now."

After highlighting the features of the motor coach, Oliver suggested that Thomas is beholden to the opinions of his "friends," who he claimed are people who sit in "boardrooms" and on "mega yachts" and before "Hitler shrines."

"So that's the offer: $1 million a year and a brand-new condo on wheels," Oliver said. "And all you have to do in return is sign the contract and get the f*** off the Supreme Court."

After Oliver's legally questionable offer went viral, a former law clerk to Thomas, Carrie Severino, resurrected what Thomas said two years ago when asked about his media critics.

"One of the things I'd say in response to the media is when they talk about — especially early on — about the way I did my job, I said, 'I will absolutely leave the court when I do my job as poorly as you do yours,'" Thomas said at the time.

— (@)

It's not likely that Thomas will respond to Oliver directly. But it's safe to say that nothing has changed for Thomas.

Clueless John Oliver Calls For States To Crack Down On Post-Covid Homeschooling Wave

Oliver clearly views the recent uptick in homeschoolers as a threat that deserves to be quelled by the state.

Houston man sends message to 'White DEVILS'

A Houston man dedicated minutes he will never get back to the creation of a video that informs the public about the "evil nature of white people."

On Thursday's "Louder with Crowder" episode, Steven and the crew played a racist video of a man from Houston, Texas, telling the world about white people's "evil" nature. The guy said that black people emulate "white devils" by mimicking how white people live, speak, and dress.

"I don't know if you know this, but it's very unpopular for us to be white," Crowder said. "This is not reverse racism. It is racism." While this video is not new, Crowder felt it deserved more attention than it received. Video below.
