After crowing about $750 for hurricane victims, Harris now claims Trump spreading 'disinformation' about FEMA money

Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris accused opponent and former President Donald Trump of spreading "disinformation" about the Federal Emergency Management Agency's lack of available resources for Americans impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Harris told reporters this week, "There's a lot of mis- and disinformation being pushed out there by the former president about what is available."

'Reckless, irresponsible, and relentless promotion of disinformation and outright lies that are disturbing people.'

"It's extraordinarily irresponsible. It's about him; it's not about you," she continued. "And the reality is that FEMA has so many resources that are available to folks who desperately need them now and resources that are about helping people get back on their feet and rebuild and have places to go."

Deanne Criswell, the FEMA administrator, claimed that Trump's statements have scared individuals from applying for the aid that they need.

"People that have been impacted are afraid to apply for our assistance," she stated.

Harris previously announced that those impacted by Hurricane Helene are eligible to receive $750 from FEMA for emergency supplies.

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden also accused Trump of spreading inaccurate information.

"Over the last few weeks there's been a reckless, irresponsible, and relentless promotion of disinformation and outright lies that are disturbing people," Biden said. "Former President Trump has led the onslaught of lies."

"They're saying that the money needed for this crisis is being diverted to migrants. What a ridiculous thing to say; it's not true," he added.

— (@)

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also called claims that FEMA funding was being redirected to migrants "categorically false."

However, in a September 2022 press briefing, Jean-Pierre stated, "FEMA regional administrators have been meeting with city officials on site to coordinate available federal support from FEMA and other federal agencies. Funding is also available through FEMA's emergency food and shelter program to eligible local governments and not-for-profit organizations upon request to support humanitarian relief for migrants."

According to FEMA's website, its Shelter and Services Program, which is run in partnership with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, provides funds to nongovernmental organizations "to provide humanitarian services to noncitizen migrants."

Further, its website notes that the SSP program has a budget of $650 million for fiscal year 2024 to provide such services.

Last week, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned that FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the hurricane season, Blaze News previously reported.

"We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting. We do not have the funds," he stated during a press briefing. "FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season and what is imminent."

Trump has repeatedly slammed the administration for using FEMA funds to provide services to illegal immigrants. He told his supporters during a rally in Saginaw, Michigan, "They stole the FEMA money, just like they stole it from a bank, so they could give it to their illegal immigrants that they want to have vote for them this season."

Fanatical leftists descend on Memphis conservative event, mob Kyle Rittenhouse

Kyle Rittenhouse has survived yet another mobbing by rabid leftists, this time in America's most dangerous city: Democrat-run Memphis.

The 21-year-old Second Amendment advocate spoke Wednesday at an event hosted by the University of Memphis student chapter of Turning Point USA. An event listing indicated that Rittenhouse was planing to "share his side of the story that caught the media's eye in 2020."

Rittenhouse has long been vilified over his fateful 2020 encounter with leftist guerillas in the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Aug. 25, 2020.

Rittenhouse, then 17 years old, shot three radicals in self-defense during a BLM riot, sending two of his attackers — a domestic abuser with multiple convictions and a convicted, violent child molester — to the morgue and disarming a third who had advanced on him with a loaded weapon.

While Rittenhouse was initially charged with homicide, attempted homicide, and reckless endangerment, he was ultimately acquitted in November 2021. The jury understood that Kyle was not guilty, but the media successfully cast him in the minds of many as a villain.

The TPUSA event and others like it thus afford Rittenhouse an opportunity to set the record straight.

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside, screaming at guests and hindering the flow of traffic in and out of the UC Theatre.

BLM protesters at the University of Memphis surged towards the entrance to the Kyle Rittenhouse event chanting \u201cKyle is a killer!\u201d \n\n@TPUSA | @Julio_Rosas11
— (@)

Signs hoisted above the angry mob said, "No killers on my campus," "Say their names," "You're in denial Kyle," "Murderers don't belong here," and "No one should be open to: Racism, Christo-Fascism, Murderous Little S***s," reported the Commercial Appeal.

It is apparent that some of the student protesters latched onto the suggestion, disseminated by Democrats and the liberal media around the time of Rittenhouse's trial, that Rittenhouse is racist.

Richard Massey, a sophomore at the university, evidenced this misunderstanding, telling WMC-TV, "We're also a city that is predominately Black and we’re also a city that is grappling with gun violence. ... We are actively giving a platform to a white nationalist."

A spokesman for the university indicated ahead of the event that the institution was legally required to permit the survivor to speak, noting in a statement obtained by the Commercial Appeal, "The upcoming event at the University of Memphis featuring Kyle Rittenhouse is not sponsored by the University. A registered student organization, University of Memphis TPUSA, is hosting the event. Under the First Amendment and Tennessee's Campus Free Speech Act, the University of Memphis cannot legally prohibit such events from being hosted by a registered student organization."

Despite this understanding, it appears there was nevertheless resistance to an alternative opinion on campus.

TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet claimed that ahead of the student event at the University of Memphis, school administrators leaked "ticketing information to protester groups so they can reserve large numbers of newly issued tickets and sabotage the events. We know this because some of our students are in the protester group chats."

Footage circulating online indicates protesters had a presence inside the theater. The extent of their disruptions is unclear.

UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS: Protesters walk out of the @tpusastudents event \n\n@TPUSA

The TPUSA student chapter president was also allegedly doxxed prior to the event. The conservative outfit indicated that "his full name, phone number, and even his exact address were posted online with the comment, 'Let him know how you feel about this decision to provoke black students by inviting a racist murderer on campus.'"

Lauren Shelley, the director of conferences and event services at the university, allegedly laughed off the student's concern, suggesting the student "probably shouldn't stay there tonight."

TPUSA indicated it has reached out to the university for comment but has yet to receive a response.

When the event drew to a close, the mob swarmed attendees attempting to leave the venue and tried to bar Rittenhouse's exit. Police ultimately had to escort TPUSA through the throng of radicals.

The angry BLM crowd then tried to prevent @TPUSA from leaving the parking garage at the University of Memphis. Campus and state police had to push the crowd back to allow the cars to leave. Some protesters spat on the vehicles.\n\n@FrontlinesTPUSA
— (@)

Rittenhouse managed to safely arrive at his destination, where he laughed off his critics' alternate histories.

"Great event. Interesting people to say the least," said Rittenhouse.

— (@)

The event prompted Rittenhouse to conclude that "Memphis is an interesting city."

One of the Second Amendment advocate's staunchest critics in the lead-up to the event, former Shelby County Commissioner Tami Sawyer — a Democrat now running to become the county's general sessions court clerk — wrote on X that she was "proud of the Univeristy [sic] of Memphis students who organized resistance tonight, as well as the Black Student Association, the U of M NAACP, alums, and faculty who spoke out."

Despite Rittenhouse's acquittal by a jury of his peers, Sawyer also continues to smear him, claiming, "Rittenhouse murdered people."

Supporters countered some of the vitriol Rittenhouse encountered on the ground and online.

For instance, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) wrote Thursday, "At age 17, Kyle Rittenhouse had a greater sense of civic duty than most people exhibit in a lifetime. While trying to help during riots, he was attacked by convicts and exercised his right to self defense, killing a child molester & a domestic abuser convicted of strangulation."

Massie underscored, "He was found innocent in a court of law."

Mike Davis of the Article III Project tweeted, "Kyle Rittenhouse is a hero for protecting his community from violent leftwing lunatics. We have a God-given right to self-defense. Violent leftwing activists should live in healthy fear they will meet their maker if they threaten the lives of law-abiding Americans."

Watch: Rittenhouse Attorney Calls Out Joe Scarborough, Joy Reid by Name Over Their False Reporting

Now that Kyle Rittenhouse has been found not guilty, all eyes turn to see if he's going to sue the pants off everyone in the media. You know, what with the lies and the untruths and the abject stupidity by any blue-checkmark liberal. The first thing Rittenhouse attorney Mark Richards did, after blasting Joe Biden, is blast the media for their lies, and he's naming names: Joe Scarborough and Joe Reid. Or whoever was guest-hosting Joy Reid's show on the day he's talking about, as opposed to all the other days in which Joy Reid lies herself.

The irony in all this? Richards says he actually ENJOYS CNN and MSNBC. (h/t Daily Caller)

— Julio Rosas (@Julio_Rosas11) November 21, 2021

"When I hear Joe Scarborough saying that my client shot his gun 60 times, that's wrong. When I hear some guest host on the Joy Reid (sic) say that my client drove four hours to go to a riot with his AR, that's wrong. It's false, and it makes me angry that they can't take the time to at least get the generic basic facts correct because it didn't fit the story they wanted to tell."

What Richards is talking about specifically is what was said DURING the trial. He acknowledge all the falsehoods that were repeated prior to the trial starting, but MSNBC and CNN in their "reporting" on the trial itself were saying things that were patently untrue.

Defamation cases against the media are hard to win. I hope Rittenhouse tries. And I plan to contribute to his legal fund if he does.

KYLE RITTENHOUSE: What We Should Do Next? #FightLikeHell | Louder With Crowderyoutu.be

Judge in Kyle Rittenhouse case rules that men he fatally shot and wounded can't be called 'victims' — but defense can call them 'rioters' and 'looters'

The judge presiding over the Kyle Rittenhouse homicide trial ruled Monday that the prosecution can't refer two men he fatally shot — and another man he wounded — as "victims," the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.

What's more, the paper said, Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder added that Rittenhouse's attorneys can refer to the three shot men as "rioters" and "looters."

What are the details?

The decision on courtroom semantics stems from Schroeder's "standard rule," the Journal-Sentinel said, as he prohibits use of the term "victim" until someone is convicted of a crime, which hasn't happened yet.

Rittenhouse, 18, was charged with homicide and attempted homicide after he fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz in Kenosha, Wisconsin, NBC News said.

Rittenhouse — who was 17 on the night of the Aug. 25, 2020, shootings — is from Illinois and was in Kenosha to defend businesses from looting and arson amid rioting over the shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man, by a white police officer. Rittenhouse pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and said he acted in self-defense.

"I feel I had to protect myself," Rittenhouse said last fall during an interview from a juvenile detention center. "I would have died that night if I didn't."

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger wanted Rittenhouse's lawyers barred from calling the Rosenbaum, Huber, and Grosskreutz "looters, rioters, arsonists or any other pejorative term," the Journal-Sentinel said.

More from the paper:

While looting, rioting and arson occurred in the two nights before the shooting, Binger argued that unless there's specific proof Rosenbaum, Huber and Grosskreutz were engaged in any of those actions, and that Rittenhouse had seen it, the labels are even more "loaded" than what judge ascribes to "victim."

Schroeder was not swayed. "Let the evidence show what it shows," he said, and declined to prohibit the defense from using the state's unwanted terms.

Not surprisingly, CNN talking heads were decidedly unhappy with the judge's ruling:

Judge says men Kyle Rittenhouse killed shouldn't be called 'victims'youtu.be

What the left will likely ignore

As TheBlaze reported last year, video recorded on the night of the shootings allegedly caught Rosenbaum antagonizing a gun-carrying group in town to defend property, glaring at them, and daring them to "shoot me!"

He even uttered the N-word as black people were feet away. (Content warning: Language, racial slurs):

— Julio Rosas (@Julio_Rosas11) 1598415475.0

In addition, video allegedly shows Rosenbaum — who apparently removed his red T-shirt to use as a head covering — chasing after a male armed with a rifle. Rosenbaum then allegedly throws a bag of tools at the guy with the gun and then lunges at him, after which the individual with the gun opens fire.

Rosenbaum was then seen in a graphic clip of the shooting aftermath dying in the street and wearing the same capri-length jeans, white sneakers with white socks, and tan belt as he's wearing in the video of him confronting militia members.

Anything else?

NBC News reported that Grosskreutz — who has not been charged with a crime — sued the city, the county, and law enforcement this month for enabling a "band of white nationalist vigilantes" amid unrest following Blake's shooting.

While a spokesperson representing Kenosha and its police department declined to comment, the network said that an attorney representing Kenosha County and the sheriff called Grosskreutz's allegations false.

"The lawsuit also fails to acknowledge that Mr. Grosskreutz was himself armed with a firearm when he was shot, and Mr. Grosskreutz failed to file the lawsuit against the person who actually shot him," attorney Sam Hall said, according to NBC News.

Indeed, Grosskreutz allegedly told a friend that he regretted "not killing the kid" who shot him at close range — and tore off a chunk of his arm — and "emptying the entire mag."

Here's a clip showing both Huber and Grosskreutz getting shot shortly after Rosenbaum was shot. (Content warning: Language):

VIDEO: Migrant smuggler reveals the reason why so many migrants are coming to American right now

The border crisis may not be making headlines every day, but the crisis continues to unfold. Reporters, in fact, briefly spoke with a migrant smuggler this week who revealed why migrants are making the dangerous trek to the United States right now.

What did the smuggler say?

While reporting from the Rio Grande river in Texas, which forms a natural border boundary between the U.S. and Mexico, reporters from Townhall and the Daily Caller caught up with a migrant smuggler early Friday morning.

That smuggler, who was in the middle of transporting migrants, said that crossing the Rio Grande river was more difficult under former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, adding that migrants are coming to the U.S. right now because President Joe Biden is giving them asylum.

"[Daily Caller's Jorge Ventura] asked one of the smugglers if it is easier to cross the river under Biden. He said yes because Biden is giving the migrants asylum," Townhall reporter Julio Rosas said.

"He also said it was harder to cross the border under Obama/Trump because U.S. boats would patrol the river day and night," he explained.

What are others saying?

The account from the unnamed migrant smuggler confirms what others, including Central American presidents, are saying about the connection between the border crisis and Biden's immigration policies.

In fact, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador directly blamed Biden while speaking at a press conference in March.

"Expectations were created that with the government of President Biden, there would be a better treatment of migrants. And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so," López Obrador said.

Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei agreed with López Obrador's analysis during an interview with MSNBC in April.

"I am nobody to make a judgment here, but I believe in the first few weeks of the Biden administration, messages were confusing," Giammattei said. "They were compassionate messages that were understood by people in our country, especially the coyotes, to tell families, 'we'll take the children, the children can go in and once the children are there they will call their parents.' And so those messages were confusing. Not because of the way they were communicated, but because of the way they were translated here."

While campaigning for president, Biden promised a major part of his immigration policy would involve reversing Trump's policies. Mexican officials have said since that rolling back Trump's deterrent policies contributed to the migrant crisis.

Anything else?

Migrant apprehensions for fiscal year 2021 surpassed 1 million last month, according to Reuters, the majority of which have come under Biden's watch.

"U.S. Border Patrol made 172,000 migrant arrests at the southwestern border in May, on par with 20-year highs from March and April. Similar figures are expected in June," Reuters noted.

Armed leftist badly wounded in Kenosha shooting allegedly regrets 'not killing the kid' accused of firing at him and 'emptying the entire mag'

An armed leftist who was part of a mob that chased down a rifle-toting male on a Kenosha street — and was badly wounded by close-range gunfire — allegedly told a friend he regrets "not killing the kid" accused of shooting him and "emptying the entire mag."

What are the details?

Gaige Grosskreutz, 26, was one of three people shot Tuesday night allegedly by 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, an Illinois resident who arrived in Wisconsin armed with what police said was a Smith & Wesson AR-15 style .223 rifle. Rittenhouse said in video interviews prior to the incident that he was in Kenosha to help protect property, keep the peace, and administer medical aid.

Tensions were high as rioters squared off with others who, like Rittenhouse, gathered in the city with rifles.

According to a probable cause narrative in the criminal complaint against Rittenhouse, at one point 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum confronted Rittenhouse — and the teen apparently didn't want anything to do with him and tried getting away. But Rosenbaum chased the 17-year-old and appeared to try to take Rittenhouse's gun away — after which the teen fatally shot his pursuer.

It should be noted that video recorded earlier allegedly caught Rosenbaum antagonizing the gun-carrying group, glaring at them, and daring them to "shoot me!"

He even uttered the N-word while black people stood feet away. (Content warning: Language, racial slurs):

— Julio Rosas (@Julio Rosas)1598415475.0

After Rosenbaum was shot, a mob chased Rittenhouse down a street. One of the pursuers was Anthony Huber, who hit Rittenhouse with his skateboard and, police say, tried taking Rittenhouse's rifle away — at which point Rittenhouse fired a fatal shot at Huber's chest.

Also in the thick of the chase was Grosskreutz who was seen in video screenshots and photographs seeming to point a handgun at Rittenhouse:

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @bgonthescene

According the criminal complaint: "When the defendant shot Huber, Grosskreutz freezes and ducks and takes a step back. Grosskreutz puts his hands in the air. Grosskreutz then moves towards the defendant who aims his gun at Grosskreutz and shoots him, firing 1 shot. Grosskreutz was shot in the right arm. Grosskreutz appears to be holding a handgun in his right hand when he was shot."

Here's video of second and third shootings. (Content warning: Language):

Grosskreutz even was holding his handgun after a bullet took out a large chunk of his right arm:

What allegedly happened afterward?

Grosskreutz survived the shooting but reportedly will require multiple surgeries on his arm.

Journalist Andy Ngo then happened upon a Facebook comment allegedly from Jacob Marshall, a friend of Grosskreutz. According to Marshall's alleged comment, Grosskreutz told him he wished he'd killed his shooter.

The screenshot of the comment reads, "I just talked to Gaige Grosskreutz too" and "his only regret is not killing the kid and hesitating to pull the gun before emptying the entire mag into him." The alleged comment also reads that "the kid shot Gaige as he drew his weapon and Gaige retreated with his gun in hand."

Neither Grosskreutz nor Marshall on Friday immediately responded to TheBlaze's request for comment on what Grosskreutz allegedly said to Marshall.

But an Internet archive screenshot from Wednesday shows a Facebook post from Marshall taking issue with conclusions being drawn about Grosskreutz: "There's a narrative saying Gaige was chasing this kid with a gun...no. Gaige did try pulling his gun right after this, because clearly his life was in danger and then the kid shot him...but after being shot wasn't able to release his gun because of the muscle damage. So all these pictures and post[s] of how the kid did it in 'self defense' is bulls**t. If you don't agree we can personally meet up and talk 'self defense' policies cuz I'm over this bulls**t narrative that's being passed around that Gaige was attacking the shooter."

Grosskreutz is a member of a social justice group, the People's Revolution Movement of Milwaukee, and a friend of his told the Chicago Sun-Times that his "whole reason for being out here was to provide medical services to protesters in Kenosha, and when Gaige tried to detain [the active shooter], he got shot in the arm."

Leftists fatally shot, wounded in Kenosha are canonized as peaceful, loving — but videos, photos seem to tell different stories

Like clockwork, the media has canonized the trio of men fatally shot and wounded in Kenosha, Wisconsin, earlier this week as peaceful, loving guys. Wouldn't hurt a fly. Patriotic. Compassionate.

But numerous videos and photographs taken Tuesday night would appear to tell a much different story about these three leftists who ended up experiencing pushback in a way that doesn't get a do-over.

Joseph Rosenbaum — goofy prankster, compassionate dad

Joseph "Jojo" Rosenbaum, 36, was one of the fatally shot individuals, the Chicago Sun-Times said.

His sister told the paper that despite being from Waco, Texas, Rosenbaum — a compassionate father — stayed in Wisconsin to be close to his 2-year-old daughter.

"He loved his daughter very much," his sister added to the Sun-Times.

The paper also said Rosenbaum's sister wants him "to be remembered as the man he was. He loved to draw, she said; he was goofy and crazy; he loved playing jokes on everybody."

But what Rosenbaum allegedly was up to Tuesday night was anything but fun loving.

Video allegedly caught Rosenbaum antagonizing the gun-carrying group who showed up to protect property in Kenosha after two previous nights of vicious rioting, glaring at them and daring them to "shoot me!"

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @Julio_Rosas11

He even uttered the N-word as black people were feet away. One guesses that being a leftist apparently buys some racial slur passes. (Content warning: Language, racial slurs):

Rioters are getting into confrontations with armed citizens who are out here to prevent looting and destruction to… https://t.co/waOikRHEn7
— Julio Rosas (@Julio Rosas)1598415475.0

What's more, video allegedly shows Rosenbaum — who by this point apparently had removed his red T-shirt to use as a head covering — chasing after a male armed with a rifle. Rosenbaum then allegedly throws a bag of tools at the guy with the gun and then lunges at him. The guy carrying the gun not surprisingly opens fire.

First death of #Kenoshaprotest shooting, two angles. #Kenosha #KenoshaUprising https://t.co/gS8ezsaAdu

And that spells the end for Rosenbaum, who is seen in a graphic clip of the shooting aftermath dying in the street and wearing the same capri-length jeans, white sneakers with white socks, and tan belt as he's wearing in the video of him confronting militia members.

Anthony Huber — peaceful American patriot

Anthony Huber, 26, also was fatally shot Tuesday night, the Sun-Times said.

"Anthony is an American patriot, and we should all be so lucky to have folks like him to defend this country from White Supremacists," according to a comment on the GoFundMe page set up for Huber's girlfriend and stepdaughter, the paper said. The crowdfunding has raised nearly $100,000 in just a couple of days.

"You're a Hero Huber," read a chalked message at a Kenosha skatepark, the Sun-Times reported.

"He is a peaceful person," a friend of Huber's told WDJT-TV. "He didn't go out looking to beat people up. He's more of a defender. And he put his life on the line for others. That's what he did."

Calling him "one of the most amazing people," Huber's girlfriend Hannah Gittings told protesters Wednesday near the spot where he died that Huber "took down an armed gunman with nothing but his f***ing skateboard, and he took that f***ing bullet," the paper said.

Indeed, Huber was in the mob that chased after the male who allegedly shot Rosenbaum. Without using his name, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Huber bashed his skateboard over the apparent shooter's head.

Photo by Tayfun Coskun/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images

The paper added that he also tried to take away his gun — and at that moment, the attacked male pulled the trigger. Huber — who appeared to be hit in the chest — crumpled to the street.

Photo by Tayfun Coskun/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images

Gaige Grosskreutz — just wanted to provide medical services to protesters

The Sun-Times identified the third shooting victim as 26-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz. He sustained a badly shot right arm but is expected to survive.

A member of social justice group the People's Revolution Movement of Milwaukee, Grosskreutz's "whole reason for being out here was to provide medical services to protesters in Kenosha, and when Gaige tried to detain [the active shooter], he got shot in the arm," a friend of his told the paper.

True enough. But Grosskreutz — who was also in the mob giving chase down the street — also pointed a handgun at the shooter:

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @bgonthescene

And after part of his right arm was blown off, video demonstrated that the handgun was indeed loaded.

Here's the clip showing the second and third shootings. (Content warning: Language):

Now what?

In the end, suspected shooter 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse faces a homicide charge. As you might already know, he's already been prejudged as a murderer and white supremacist.

But as TheBlaze Managing Editor Leon Wolf points out in his Thursday op-ed, besides the lack of existence of any fact that would rightly brand the teenager as a racist, "there appears to be no evidence at all that Rittenhouse is guilty of murder, much less first-degree murder," and charging him with such a crime is "absurd."

Not that leftists were ever interested in facts that poke holes in their proclamations — including lauding the leftists shot up in Kenosha as peaceful and loving when all visual evidence paints them as the aggressors and acting as judge, jury, and executioner.
