Megyn Kelly, who has built a massive YouTube channel that boasts more than 1.3 million subscribers, fired back at Justin Baragona and Keith Olbermann on Friday.

"In just a few short years, Megyn Kelly went from one of the most sought-after and highly-paid anchors in television news -- to a YouTuber devoting her time to raging about what woke beer another podcaster drinks," Justin Baragona of the Daily Beast tweeted, sharing the link to a piece he wrote.

Kelly responded to Baragona's tweet, by pointing out that she's been enormously successful in digital media and now wields complete editorial power over her content.

"I fixed the headline for him: In just a few short years, Megyn Kelly went from working for corporate douchebags who tried to ruin her career to launching her own media company and creating one of the top digital shows in the country of which she has full editorial control. She continues to earn more than @justinbaragona or @keitholbermann will ever gross in their lifetime, all while happily married & raising her own children," Kelly wrote.

Kelly's mention of Keith Olbermann came after the left-wing figure had responded to Baragona's post by describing Kelly as a "moronic a**hole" and claiming that she had only been hired by NBC because of her appearance.

"Or: @megynkelly went from a highly-paid moronic asshole who got a lot of money from an @nbc executive who never really bothered to examine and her work and only hired her for her looks and then everybody at nbc found out she was a moronic a**hole," Olbermann wrote. "And for the record: the criticism here is of the executive, not @megynkelly," Olbermann added. "His name was Andy Lack and he was notorious for doing this. Most of them looked like one of his ex-wives at different stages in her life," Olbermann claimed.

'The View' co-host's reaction to panelist who says Biden needs to care about independent voters should scare Democrats

The reaction one co-host of "The View" had Monday when Gretchen Carlson, the former Fox News personality, charged that President Joe Biden must win support from independent voters, should have Democrats everywhere worried about upcoming elections.

What happened?

During a segment where the panel discussed recent opinions from pollsters, Carlson said Biden "100%" needs to court independent voters. But that did not go over well with co-host Sunny Hostin.

"Listen, it always comes down to the pocketbook, I think, for independents, and so they are worried about inflation, they're worried about the supply chain coming in, especially with Christmas and Hanukkah approaching," Carlson said. "I think that price tag is everything."

Carlson then noted that Biden campaigned on being a moderate, and suggested that Biden needs to win independent voters to find success in the White House. Hostin, however, took immediate objection with Carlson's analysis.

"See, I disagree with that," Hostin said. "That sounded very Republican of you."

"No! It's very independent," Carlson shot back. "I'm not a Republican. I'm an independent."

"But it sounded Republican," Hostin responded.

Hostin went on to claim that a majority of independent voters are not truly independent, but rather are shy about revealing their true political allegiance.

Is Carlson right?

Recent polling shows Carlson to be right.

Regardless of why independent voters identify themselves as such, all polls over the last several months show that Biden is backsliding with independents.

A Gallup poll released last week showed that Biden's approval among independent voters has cratered 27% since February from 61% to 34%. A Quinnipiac poll, also released last week, showed Biden's approval is down to 28% among independents — including a disapproval rating twice that among the same demographic.

"It's a real problem for Biden that the most moveable group of voters now largely disapproves of the job he is doing as president," Geoffrey Skelley wrote at FiveThirtyEight.

Aside from Biden's presidential blunders, like the botched Afghanistan withdrawal and the ongoing border crisis, Biden's backsliding among independents can be attributed to his policy priorities. While Biden prioritizes climate change, massive social spending, and raising taxes on wealthy Americans, polls show that independent voters care most about the economy — including inflation and supply chain issues — and the COVID-19 pandemic.

If the trend continues, Democrats will have a difficult time keeping Biden in the White House past 2024, let alone defending their majority in Congress through the 2022 midterm elections.

Afghan vet mocks MSNBC host for praising Biden, then delivers powerful rebuke of Biden's speech on Afghanistan

Matt Zeller, a former CIA officer and U.S. Army officer who served as an embedded combat adviser with the Afghan security forces, mocked MSNBC host Brian Williams to his face Monday for praising President Joe Biden's speech on Afghanistan.

What happened?

Before asking Zeller — also a former Democratic candidate for Congress who admits he voted for Biden — his reaction to Biden's speech, Williams claimed Biden "owned his decision" and "didn't run from it."

Zeller flatly disagreed.

"I hope he gets to own [Afghans'] deaths, too," Zeller shot back. "I feel like I watched a different speech than the rest of you guys. I was appalled."

"There was such a profound bold-faced lie in that speech — the idea that we planned for every contingency? I have been personally trying to tell this administration, since it took office, I've been trying to tell our government for years that this was coming," Zeller continued. "We sent them plan after plan on how to evacuate these people. Nobody listened to us. They didn't plan for the evacuation of our Afghan wartime allies; they're trying to conduct it now at the 11th hour."

Zeller continued, lambasting Biden:

The thing that they were most concerned about was the optics of a chaotic evacuation. Well, they got exactly what they were most concerned of by failing to do what was right when we could have done it. We had all the people and equipment in place to be able to save these people months ago, and we did nothing. I'm appalled that he thinks that we only need to take 2,000 people. There's 86,000 people who are currently left behind in Afghanistan alone; we've identified all of them for the government. I have no idea why he claims that people don't want to leave Afghanistan. I have a list of 14,000 names right now of people who want to get out of Afghanistan.

And the idea that the Afghan military should be blamed for this? Do you know how many casualties the Afghan military took in an average year? More than the United States did in 20. When you're not getting paid on a regular basis, when you're not getting fuel, when no one is supplying you with ammunition, and yet you're still showing up to the fight? How dare us for having to blame these people for not having the audacity to be able to survive a Taliban onslaught.

No, no, no. What we need to be doing right now — and what I am appalled that the president didn't say — was we need to be talking about how we're going to get every single one of these people out.

The fight to uphold American obligations to Afghans who worked with U.S. forces is personal for Zeller, whose own life was saved in 2008 by his Afghan interpreter.

Later in the interview, Zeller made an impassioned case for saving every Afghan who helped America during its military campaign, saying the U.S. military should fight the Taliban until every such Afghan is rescued.

But if Biden's administration chooses to abandon them? "I'll never forgive my country for doing this," Zeller pledged.

Brian Stelter gets trashed by his own guest, Michael Wolff tells CNN host: 'You are one of the reasons why people can't stand the media'

CNN host Brian Stelter was mercilessly trashed on his own CNN show on Sunday by his guest, author Michael Wolff. The author was on the cable TV show "Reliable Sources" to promote his latest book about former President Donald Trump, but ended up slamming the corporate media and Stelter for being in "its own bubble."

"I think you yourself... while you're a nice guy... you're full of sanctimony. You've become one of the parts of the problem of the media," Wolff said of Stelter. "You come on here and have a monopoly on truth. You know exactly how things are supposed to be done. You are one of the reasons why people can't stand the media."

Stelter attempted to laugh off the criticisms, "You're cracking me up."

The CNN host asked what he should do differently, to which the author responded, "Don't talk so much. Listen more."

"You know people have genuine problems with the media," Wolff replied. "The media doesn't get the story right, the media exists in its own bubble."

Wolff said Stelter is "incredibly repetitive," saying the "same old stuff week after week."

"You're the flip side of Donald Trump," Wolff stated. "Fake news, and you say, 'Virtuous news.'"

Stelter attempted to defend his cable TV news show by saying, "We just figure out what is real."

"Well figuring out what is real is not so easy," Wolff said before blasting Stelter yet again, "Most people don't want to turn to Brian Stelter to tell us what's real."

Stelter tried to laugh off the insult, and asked Wolff, "Why'd ya bother coming on CNN a couple times this week?"

Wolff delivered an honest and stinging rebuttal, "You know, I'm a book salesman."

Wolff's assessment of the media is correct, according to a recent Gallup poll that shows the media is one of the American institutions with the least amount of cofidence. The poll shows that a mere 21% of respondents said they had "a great deal" or "quite a lot" of confidence in newspapers, while just 16% of Americans said they had the same of television news. The only institution that had lower scores was Congress, which only 12% of Americans had confidence in.

The lack of confidence and lack of Donald Trump has hurt cable TV news networks, especially CNN.

Deadline reported on the cable TV ratings for June:

In primetime, Fox News topped with an average of 2.13 million viewers, compared to 1.31 million for MSNBC and 798,000 for CNN. Compared to the same month a year earlier, Fox News was off 42%, MSNBC was down 36% and CNN dropped 57%. In the 25-54 demo, Fox News drew an average of 329,000, down 50%; compared to 179,000 for CNN, falling 68%; and 166,000 for MSNBC, off by 48%.

The ratings for May were equally as disappointing:

Fox News averaged 2.2 million primetime viewers in May to finish as the only basic cable channel to average more than two million viewers from 8-11 p.m. ET. MSNBC finished second with an average of 1.5 million and TNT, ESPN and HGTV rounded out the top five while CNN failed to crack the one-million viewer benchmark, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Stelter's "Reliable Sources" averaged only 810,000 total viewers for the May 2 episode, which was the lowest-rated episode of the year at the time. But viewership tanked even more in June, when "Reliable Sources" averaged a mere 786,000 viewers, which is down 56% from its January totals.

Joy Behar makes gets hit with brutal backlash after making joke about NFL player that many viewed as homophobic

Joy Behar of "The View" faced immediate and brutal blowback for a homophobic joke she made about an NFL player who came out as gay.

The show's hosts were discussing the announcement from Carl Nassib of the Las Vegas Raiders when Behar made her inappropriate joke.

"After they said penetration in the end zone, they lost me!" she remarked.

Behar's joke was immediately circulated and condemned by many on Twitter.

"Joy Behar makes a blatant homophobic comment. Will there be outrage? Will she be cancelled? No, because she's a Liberal," said one critic.

"F**k Joy Behar! Making an anal sex joke about a gay man coming out is utterly disgusting," replied another.

"This is completely unacceptable and beyond s***ty from Joy Behar. The first active NFL player in history comes out of the closet and he's met with a cheap anal sex joke on national TV?" responded another Twitter user.

"Joy and people like her are why so many remain in the closet. It's NOT ok," read another tweet.

Many noted that the lone conservative on the panel show, Meghan McCain, was the only co-host to not laugh at the problematic joke.

Behar appeared to anticipate the outrage over her joke because she tried to walk it back before the segment even ended.

"By the way, that inappropriate joke I made for daytime television? Scratch it. Make believe I never said it," she said.

Nassib revealed that he was gay in an Instagram video post on Monday. He became the first openly gay football player who is active on a team's roster. In 2014, Michael Sam was the first openly gay player to be drafted by an NFL team, but he was cut before he could play in an in-season game.

Daily Beast editor accuses Tucker Carlson of adding 'googly eyes' to AOC photo — then admits he was wrong

A Daily Beast contributing editor was recently forced to apologize on Twitter after his attempted attack on Fox News host Tucker Carlson ended up landing squarely on progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

What happened?

Justin Baragona, a frequent critic of conservatives, accused Carlson's producers Wednesday of doctoring an image of Ocasio-Cortez to make the Democratic congresswoman's eyes looking abnormally large.

Without fact-checking — or thinking through what the ramifications would be if he were wrong — Baragona posted a screenshot of the show to Twitter, saying, "So it appears Tucker's producers added googly eyes to AOC in this image."

He was obviously hoping to catch Carlson in the act, but the problem was, he was wrong and the image was real. Consequently, all he ended up doing was insulting Ocasio-Cortez's appearance. After that was pointed out to him, he owned up to the embarrassing gaffe on Twitter.

"Taking down this tweet as the image of AOC has been out there since at least May 2018," he wrote. "Anyway, I'll take the [loss] and the addition to the list [Siraj Hashmi]."

Hashmi is a journalist who works for the Washington Examiner and is known for creating "The List," a daily power ranking of people who need to have their phones taken away.

In a follow-up tweet, Baragona employed some more apologetic self-loathing, saying, "Every day you log onto Twitter, you hope to get through it without being it. Tonight, I was it. And I absolutely deserved to be."

"Word of advice — if you don't want to be IT, make sure you don't send out factually inaccurate tweets that can be easily verified and debunked," he added.

What else?

As was to be expected, Baragona was raked on the social media platform over his mistake.
"Its cool how when you're a journalist you can just say s**t," one commenter wrote.
Others pushed back on those defending his gaffe as an honest mistake.
"It's not really an honest mistake. He just naturally assumed the worst about Tucker, and from that assumption, assumed they added the eyes. There's nothing 'honest' about that," one person wrote.
Another added: "He only took it down because he got called out for it. It would probably still be up had no one called him on it. There is nothing honest here."
