Immortal Combat

The Book of Elsewhere is adapted from, or possibly a companion to, the comic book Brzrkr. It was written by Keanu Reeves and Matt Kindt and drawn by Ron Garney, and it is what you’d imagine a comic book version of a story about a deathless, ageless warrior now working for the U.S. military might look like: lots of big splashy images of bloody violence, some set now, some set in the village of Unute’s youth, drawn in a blocky, chaotic style suggesting kinetic action. I don’t think it quite works as anything other than a storyboard for a potential cinematic adaptation by Reeves, since the character of Unute—with his world-weariness and shoulder-length black hair—is clearly modeled on the actor. I didn’t make it past the first four issues.

Keanu Reeves' Hollywood home raided by burglars, who stole 'John Wick' star's gun: Reports

The Hollywood home of Keanu Reeves was raided by burglars earlier this week, multiple reports say.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to an anonymous call about trespassers at the home of the "John Wick" star around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. However, LAPD officers did not find anyone at the "Matrix" star's home in Hollywood Hills.

Then around 1 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to an alarm that was tripped at the celebrity's home.

Investigators reviewed security camera footage that reportedly showed multiple men in ski masks smashing a window and entering the property. The perpetrators allegedly fled the crime scene before police arrived.

"According to our sources, the culprits took one firearm from the home before making a run for it. It's unclear if anything else was taken, but Keanu was not home at the time," TMZ reported.

Los Angeles Magazine noted, "LAPD is currently investigating if the initial call was someone scouting the property to see the police’s response time out to the house."

Authorities are still investigating the incident.

This isn't the first time that the celerity home of Reeves was the target of intruders.

In September 2014, his home was infiltrated by two intruders in two days.

Reeves was awoken around 4 a.m. to find a woman sleeping in his library chair.

TMZ previously reported, "Keanu calmly approached her and began speaking to her. She explained she was there to meet him. He very calmly called 911 and obtusely told the dispatcher cops needed to roll quick."

Police arrived at the 59-year-old actor's home and allegedly took the woman into custody and she was taken for a psych evaluation.

The day after the bizarre fan encounter, a second woman illegally entered his house when Reeves was not home.

The 50-year-old woman purportedly slipped into the house through a door left unlocked by the cleaning crew inside.

Law enforcement officials told TMZ the woman took a shower in his house and went skinny dipping in the pool. The cleaning staff alerted Reeves, who then contacted police.

In February, Reeves and his partner, Alexandra Grant, were granted a restraining order against a 38-year-old man who is accused of stalking, harassing, and trespassing on the actor’s property.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The order describes the individual as a transient stranger with no permanent residence, but who has 'engaged in an ongoing course of alarming and harassing/threatening conduct' since November 2022."

The man, Bryan Dixon, allegedly went to Reeves' home and wore a "suspicious and alarming" backpack, which included a DNA testing kit that was “apparently intended to use on Mr. Reeves in a delusional attempt to prove they are blood-related."

Keanu Reeves will return to Constantine role, likely killing another woke reboot

Keanu Reeves will return to Constantine role, likely killing another woke reboot

A remake of the series "Constantine" that was set to be rebooted with a "diverse lead" has been canceled thanks to the return of Keanu Reeves.

Comic book character John Constantine originated in 1985 and was depicted as a white man from London, England, whose depiction was originally inspired by musician Sting.

The role has since been played by Reeves in a 2005 film, then by Matt Ryan in a 2014-2015 series lasting just one season.

However, as reported by Bounding into Comics, the character underwent a reimagining when it came into the possession of J.J. Abrams' company Bad Robot Productions. Abrams famously took over directing and producing the Star Wars franchise for Disney, which has drawn mixed reactions, to say the least.

Abrams' company was set to introduce an HBO Max remake of the 2014 series, Deadline reported in 2021, with U.K. writer Guy Bolton specifically heading in a DEI-friendly direction.

"The character is set to be cast as a diverse lead, a departure from the one played by Matt Ryan in the NBC series," Deadline noted, which was seemingly confirmed through another report by entertainment outlet the Illuminerdi at the time.

The outlet cited that the studio had "hopes of casting a BIPOC actor in their late 20’s."

The same outlet seemingly confirmed this reporting in 2022 when it claimed that sources at Warner Bros. were looking to cast Sope Dìrísù as John Constantine.

The same week, Knight Edge Media "exclusively confirmed" that the studio was looking for two Cambodian actors, which the outlet speculated included the character named Astra, who was also white in the comics.

However, the "race swap," as it is colloquially known, is reportedly dead thank to the return of Reeves. In September 2022, Warner Bros. announced that "The Matrix" actor would reprise his role as John Constantine in a new sequel.

Though the show had four scripts already written, Variety confirmed in October 2023 that the HBO project was dead.

The show was reportedly far enough into production that negotiations with the lead actor were already under way.

Reeves starred in "Constantine" alongside actor Shia Lebeouf. The film took in over $230 million worldwide with a $100 million production budget.

Joan Collins says Hollywood parties are 'dull' because of cancel culture, declares there are only 4 real stars in Tinseltown

Legendary actress Joan Collins says Hollywood parties are now boring because celebrities are afraid of cancel culture.

Collins told Best magazine this week, "The parties I go to now are kind of — dull. They are red carpet things in which everybody does behave. If you don’t behave now you are going to get cancelled."

Collins made similar comments in October 2021 when talking about why she doesn't use social media.

"I don't want to engage in any way, shape, or form with these morons," Collins told the New York Times.

"People can't say what they think, because they'll get canceled," she proclaimed. "Dredging up tweets from 15 years ago, about what somebody might have said when they were 14, I think that's sick."

Collins told the paper, "The thing is you can't say anything these days without being canceled. What am I allowed to say?"

The Emmy Award nominee also slammed the #MeToo movement for ruining men.

Collins stated, "Sadly, I think that now young men are suffering from being labeled toxically masculine because of this rise of anti-maleness."

"I believe that women are equal to men in every single way," she said. "Except physical strength. People say you didn’t burn your bra, you wear lipstick. So what? I’m very proud of being a woman."

Collins previously noted, "What's wrong with mother? What's wrong with woman? Girl? I don’t like having that word taken away."

In the most recent interview, the 90-year-old "Dynasty" actress declared that Hollywood lacks the star power of yesteryear. Collins – who has been in the entertainment industry for 70 years – said that there are only four real stars left in Hollywood: Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, and Keanu Reeves.

"I think Nicole Kidman is fabulous and Margot Robbie is one of the great beauties," Collins said this week. "Particularly Brad, he is like one of the movie stars of the Golden Age."

John Wick 4 Is All Artifice And No Art

John Wick 4 feels more like a video game than a movie – alas, many viewers might consider this a feature rather than a bug.

Movies featuring Keanu Reeves were removed from Chinese streaming platforms after the movie star appeared at a charity benefit for Tibet

One of Hollywood’s most lovable movie stars may now be backlisted from the world’s largest film market as Chinese streaming platforms remove movies and other video content featuring Keanu Reeves after the actor appeared at a fundraiser hosted by a nonprofit affiliated with the Dalai Lama.

In early March, according to the Los Angeles Times, the “John Wick” and “Matrix” star participated in a benefit concert hosted by the New York-based nonprofit Tibet House. Reeves’s presence and role in the benefit concert appears to have angered Chinese censors as one Chinese streaming platform, Tencent Video, has scrubbed nearly 20 movies featuring Reeves from its catalog.

Tibet House is a nonprofit that — according to its website — was founded “at the request of His Holiness the Dali Lama” and is “dedicated to preserving Tibet’s unique culture at a time when it is confronted with extinction on its own soil.”

The Chinese Communist Party rejects the notion of Tibetan independence and views the Dali Lama — a Nobel Prize laureate — as a dangerous “separatist” as he continues to advocate for the geopolitical independence of Tibet and an end to Chinese rule over the region.

Reeves’s role in the Tibet House fundraiser came to light shortly after his latest film “The Matrix: Resurrections” debuted in Chinese cinemas. Chinese nationalists, however, were enraged by Reeves’s participation in this fundraiser and vowed to boycott the film after taking to government-sanctioned social media sites to lob insults at the actor.

In response to what the Chinese government perceived as Reeves snubbing China, last Monday China’s major streaming companies removed the “vast majority” of his filmography from their catalogs and “wiped search results related to his name in Chinese.”

When users ran searches for “Keanu Reeves,” which in translates to “Jinu Liweisi” on the streaming platform iQiyi, users are told: “Sorry, no results related to ‘Keanu Reeves’ were found. Due to relevant laws, regulations and policies, some results are not shown.”

Beloved movies like “The Matrix” trilogy and “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” as well as some of Keanu’s romantic movies like “Something’s Gotta Give” and “The Lake House” have been removed from Chinese streaming platforms.

Alex Yu, a researcher at the U.S.-based China Digital Times, said, “It’s a curious case that’s worth following. We tend to think of the censorship machine in China as this really coordinated monster, but the fact that we’re seeing these conflicting signals [between the online and theatrical markets] suggest that some of these measures come from different places.”

He added, “Why all of a sudden did they decide to take this measure at this exact moment?”

Reeves un-personing by Chinese censors adds him to the ever-growing list of celebrities who are unwelcome in China after expressing support for Tibet. This list includes Richard Gere, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and, until recently, Brad Pitt.
