The REAL reason Democrats think JD Vance is ‘weird’

While phrases like “Keep Austin weird” indicate a certain level of “cool” to the left, Trump’s VP pick, JD Vance, has been ascribed a similar phrase for a totally different reason.

And Glenn Beck knows why.

“JD Vance is from a red state: weirdness number one. JD Vance grew up in white poverty: weirdness number two,” Glenn explains. “He didn’t have white privilege: weirdness number three. And he never gave up or listened to the naysayers: weirdness number four.”

While those on the left often look for handouts over hard work, Vance is the opposite.

“Nobody’s holding you back except you and your choices. That’s one of the biggest things that’s weird about JD Vance because either they totally believe it or they know they’re running an evil scam on people all over the world,” Glenn says.

The reason why this is such an important piece of the “JD Vance is weird” momentum, is because a left-wing government wants you to rely on it. It doesn’t want you to believe the future is in your hands.

“Who says that except an abusive partner?” Glenn asks.

And Vance doesn’t just not rely on the government for handouts, but he’s created his own world. He’s an entrepreneur — and nothing’s weirder to the left than people with the intellectual and emotional fortitude to build their own reality.

“Those are the people with real drive, and they’re different than people that just want a 9 to 5 job, and there’s nothing wrong with either of them,” Glenn says, though he notes that those who don’t believe they have it in them to be like Vance want to take from his wallet.

“Those are the people that the left relates to and counts on because they can use greed and envy to have you look at an entrepreneur, somebody with drive. ‘Look man, I don’t have the drive to do what Elon Musk does, I don’t have the brains to do it either,’” Glenn says. “‘I think I should take some money from Elon Musk.’”

“They think JD Vance is weird because they can’t relate to him on anything. His white poverty instead of his white privilege, his red state over their blue state, his getting back up again over and over again and rejecting the idea ‘stay down, you need the government, reach out for a handout,’” Glenn continues, adding, “They can’t understand that.”

Kamala Harris criticized for response after reporter confronts her about Afghanistan crisis

Vice President Kamala Harris generated criticism Sunday after she responded to a recent question about the Afghanistan crisis by laughing and claiming the Biden administration "couldn't have a higher priority right now."

What happened?

After embarking on her Southeast Asia tour, Harris addressed a gaggle of reporters on the airport tarmac, cutting off a reporter who began to ask her about the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan.

"What's your response to reports of Americans—" the reporter began, speaking over the sound of jet engines.

"Hold on, hold on, hold on," Harris said, cutting off the reporter. "Slow down, everybody," Harris added, afterward letting out a big laugh.

"I want to talk about two things. First, Afghanistan— We couldn't have a higher priority right now," Harris said after finishing her laugh. "And in particular high priority is making sure that we safely evacuate American citizens, Afghans who worked with us, Afghans at risk, including women and children, and that is one of our highest if not the highest priority right now."

Because the reporter was never allowed to finish her question, it's not clear what she was going to ask Harris specifically. However, it sounded like she was going to ask Harris about the Americans trapped in Afghanistan.

What was her response?

Critics panned Harris not only for her inopportune laughing, but claiming the Afghanistan crisis is the administration's highest priority while she spends the week in Southeast Asia.

  • "'We couldn't have a higher property right now. That's why I'm going to board this plane and depart this self inflicted catastrophe,'" one person mocked.
  • "Higher priority, yeah as she leaves the country," another person said.
  • "No higher priority.. which is why I'm in Singapore," one person mocked.
  • "I'm not a fan of hers but I think she does this whenever she gets nervous. Ask her a tough question and she does that cackle," one person observed.
  • "Whether true or not, she does just exude this sense of not caring about anything outside herself," another person noted.
  • "Serious issue and she cackles," one person criticized.
  • "If her highest priority 'right' is getting American's out of Afghanistan, then why is she LEAVING THE COUNTRY when our American's need her in DC doing her job in trying to do everything possible to get them out?" another person said.
  • "There are a of names that I would like to call her but then I will get a phone call from my mom," Fox News' Lisa Boothe said.
  • "What's so funny? Absolutely nothing!" another person said.

Harris' Southeast Asia tour began in Singapore on Sunday. She will travel to Vietnam on Tuesday before departing the region for the U.S. on Thursday.

Colorado officers seen on video laughing about arrest that hospitalized 73-year-old dementia patient.

The attorney for a 73-year-old dementia patient has released surveillance video showing Loveland, Colorado, police officers laughing as they reviewed body camera footage of the arrest of her client — who was later hospitalized for her injuries.

What are the details?

The dementia patient, Karen Garner, was arrested last summer by officers responding to a call from a local Walmart that she had left without paying for $14 worth of items, ABC News reported.

Bodycam footage shows Officer Austin Hopp approaching her while she's picking wildflowers in a field near the store, where he asks why she did not stop. She appears confused and repeatedly insists she is "going home" as he throws her to the ground and handcuffs her.

She is then pressed against the hood of a patrol vehicle and officers push her left arm up near her head. Another officer, Daria Jalali, assisted in the arrest.

During her arrest, officers struggled with Garner, and concerned onlookers can be seen on the footage confronting the officers over their level of force.

Garner's attorney, Sarah Schieke, says her client was hospitalized after her detainment for a broken arm, separated shoulder, and a sprained wrist, the Washington Examiner reported. The lawyer filed a lawsuit against the department afterward, claiming Garner was not given medical assistance for six hours.

Then on Monday, Schieke released surveillance video from within the police department, showing Hopp, Dalali, and another officer watching the bodycam footage following Garner's arrest.

Hopp can be seen telling the other officers, "Ready for the pop? Hear the pop?" acknowledging that something snapped when he was detaining Garner.

Another male officer asks, "What did you pop?" and Hopp responds, "I think it was her shoulder."

Officer Dalali can be seen laughing along with other officers at some points in the surveillance video, but eventually asks, "Can you stop it now?" covering her head while the bodycam footage plays.

She also states, "I hate this," before Hopp says, "I love it."

Dalali can also be seen checking in on Garner in her cell.

The released surveillance video may be viewed below in its entirety. The point where the officers are reviewing the footage together starts around the 45:45 mark:

According to a news release from the Loveland Police Department prior to the surveillance footage being released, Hopp has been placed on administrative leave pending the department's investigation of the incident. Dalali and a supervising officer on the scene have both been placed on administrative duties.

Anything else?

Family members of Garner say she has never been the same since her arrest and the injuries she sustained. They moved her out of her apartment and into an assisted living facility, saying her dementia symptoms were exacerbated by the incident.

Garner's loved ones told The Denver Post, that when they picked her up from the hospital, she kept repeatedly asking, "Why did they hurt me?"

Her daughter-in-law, Shannon Steward, told the newspaper, "She hasn't come back the way she was before."

Alissa Swartz, Garner's daughter, told the outlet, "I just feel like I didn't protect her. I wasn't there to keep her safe from the police, who are supposed to protect her."

Steward argued, "They could've walked her home."
