DEBATE: 90 pages from journal belonging to the Covenant School shooter LEAKED – but should we read it?

Yesterday, the Tennessee Star published 90 pages from the journal belonging to the Covenant School shooter. The document contains entries from January 2023 to the day of the shooting, March 27, 2023.

Davis Hunt, founder and editor of the Pamphleteer, joins Jill Savage and the “Blaze News Tonight” panel to discuss the leak.

“What were the new details that we learned today that we previously didn't know?” Jill asks.

“I don't know that there was anything revelatory,” says Hunt. “We kind of already knew that she had some animus towards Steven Crowder's leak” and certainly toward “white Christians.”

“I looked over it. I didn't read the whole thing. I don't really care to spend my waking hours digging through the thoughts of a deranged person, so I tried to stay away from it, but the clips that I did see kind of confirmed what we already knew,” he continues.

Blaze Media’s editor in chief Matthew Peterson, however, isn’t so sure avoiding the document is the best call.

“I guess what you're saying is it pretty much, when you look at it, confirms everything that you thought was true — this is a person who bore animosity towards Christianity, white people, as well as heterosexuals who were opposed to the trans movement. Is that correct?” he asks.

“Yeah, I think that’s generally correct. ... It was an act of violence carried out against a specific group of people; it wasn't random. It's not like she went to a mall or some other public gathering place. She went to a private Christian school that she was familiar with,” Hunt explains, adding that this opinion has been “somewhat controversial.”

“Is there one part that stood out for you as you did go through [the released document]?” asks Jill.

“There was a lot of very weird, kind of racial ideology bundled up in there that was maybe unexpected,” says Hunt.

“I'll be honest with the [Blaze] audience,” says Peterson. “We've had a policy for a long time not to highlight or quote from these sorts of manifestos.”

“The environment has changed though,” he acknowledges. “In this manifesto, maybe the most chilling part I've heard so far is not even all the crazy hatred of her own community” but rather “the lack of normal human emotion ... and that makes me think: What should the policy be for media today?”

Hunt explains that according to the Violence Project’s research, the one thing school shooters have in common besides “self-evident mental issues” is that “they all studied the actions of previous school shooters.”

“They all draw a lot of influence from each other,” he says, pointing to Columbine as the “core incident that ignited” the tragic movement.

Ultimately, Hunt thinks that “minimal coverage” is probably the best route.

“You're naturally curious about what would drive someone to do this and in a way, it's kind of perversely compelling to try to understand why these things happen and what would drive someone to do that,” he explains, but he nonetheless thinks it’s best to keep the psychoanalysis to a minimum because Hale’s motives were “self-evident” based on who she targeted.

“Let me go to the other side of the coin here,” Peterson counters. “I think the problem is that [Hale’s journal] was held up for what — a year and a half? The government was threatening to put this journalist in jail for revealing it” likely because it would lead to “one side of the ledger being blamed.”

He explains that more often than not, these shooters are “politicized” in that “they're drenched in some weird ideology” — in Hale’s case, trans, anti-white ideology.

“The problem is in this case that the government wanted to hide one side and promote a narrative about the other,” leading a lot of people to say, “Just let it out.”

Leaked audio: Democrat representative unleashes profanity-laden, abusive tirade on 'f***ing idiot' staffer

Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee – a Democrat representing Texas – was caught going on a profanity-laden and abusive tirade on a staffer that she described as a "f***ing idiot."

A staffer allegedly gave the leaked audio to Current Revolt – which then released the audio to the internet. In the leaked audio, the Democrat hurled obscenities and insults at her own staff.

"I don't want you to do a goddamn thing," Lee is heard berating the staffer. "I want you to have a f***ing brain. I want you to have read it."

"I want you to say, 'Congresswoman, with such and such date.' That's what I want. That's the kind of staff that I want to have," she continued. "So some stupid other motherf***er did it. And, and I don't have the information. Nobody sent me the information."

"I need to, uh, ensure my, um, schedule and, uh, you know, if, if Boo Boo did it, s**t ass did it, f***face did it," Lee angrily declared. "And nobody knows a godd**n thing in my office. Okay? Nothing. I gave it to you."

"Okay. So when I called Jerome, he only sitting up there like a fat ass stupid idiot talking about, uh, what the f***? He doesn't know. Okay? Both of y'all are f***-ups [inaudible]," Lee ranted. "It's the worst s**t that I could have ever had put together. Two goddamn big ass children f***ing idiots serve no goddamn purpose. Ain't managing nobody. Nobody's respecting them. Nobody gives a s**t about what you're doing and you ain't doing s**t. And this is an example of it. I gave it to Jerome. This is not child's work."

Lee has represented the 18th District in Texas for 28 years this year, and is currently a leading candidate in the Houston mayoral race.

According to the Houston Chronicle, "Over the past three decades, critics have repeatedly attacked Jackson Lee and her top aides for demanding workloads and high turnover rates. Congressional staffers have also routinely voted for Jackson Lee as the 'meanest' employer on Capitol Hill in Washingtonian Magazine’s 'Best and Worst of Congress' lists."

Blaze News reached out Lee's office for comment on the leaked audio.

James O'Keefe's opening testimony on FBI and DOJ overreach leaves House Judiciary Committee speechless

James O'Keefe's opening testimony on FBI and DOJ overreach leaves House Judiciary Committee speechless

On May 10, James O'Keefe of Project Veritas gave his opening statement on the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation's overreach on members of the press. O'Keefe delivered his statement to members of Congress.

The House Judiciary Committee recently showed unanimous bipartisan support for new legislation protecting journalists from government overreach. This hearing received little media coverage.

House Representative Ralph Norman of South Carolina was sympathetic to O'Keefe's ordeal and questioned how far the DOJ and FBI appear to have gone in this case. Here is the transcript:

O'Keefe: "Ashley Biden's attorney, a woman named Roberta Kaplan, responded by saying, 'We should send to the southern district of New York. In just 24 days, Ms. Kaplan got her political favor fulfilled when the Southern District of New York approved the first of nineteen secret subpoenas.'"

Rep Norman: "Is this collusion, in your opinion, with what's happening really to both of you all in your opinion?"

O'Keefe: "I think Ashley Biden's attorney's statement about 'we should send to the Southern District of New York' is self-evident. There is also a poster in the room. You can see the four photos there; we find this extraordinary that Roberta Kaplan is the same attorney [representing] Ashley Biden. She's also the same attorney for former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and she represents the woman married to the son of the U.S. attorney who signed all the secret warrants against me. So, those are the facts, and [they] are pretty self-evident facts, and I don't wish to opine beyond the facts."

Rep Norman: "That's unbelievable. Every American needs to know what not only you all have gone through but to see these facts."

O'Keefe: "There's disparate treatment at the Department of Justice, including how they define journalists. A journalist is a person who regularly gathers, prepares, collects, photographs, records, writes, and edits information that concerns national stories."

O'Keefe: "The Southern District of New York wrote in pleadings that I'm not a journalist because I don't get permission from the subjects I investigate. So that directly contradicts common sense as well as the law. So obviously, we can't trust the Department of Justice with the power to define who is and who is not a journalist depending upon who's in charge. That goes against everything the First Amendment stands for, Sir."

She did WHAT on his side of the bed?

Imagine the worst argument you have ever experienced with your significant other. Now, count yourself lucky that you were not in a relationship with Amber Heard.

Actor Johnny Depp is currently suing his former wife Amber Heard for defamation, and some shocking details have come to light. In his testimony, Depp explained that Heard left a "fecal delivery" on his side of the bed and that Heard tried to blame it on their dogs. Heard eventually admitted to leaving poop on Depp's side of the bed, calling it a "prank."

Steven Crowder discussed this on Thursday's episode of Louder with Crowder. "Context matters," Crowder said. "She did admit to this and called it a prank. After she abused him and left him while his mother was sick? No, that's not a prank."

Crowder added that it is also "disgusting that a woman could do that angrily on command."
