Anderson Cooper defends CNN's Trump town hall, and liberals furiously lash out at him: 'F*** that. F*** him. F*** this.'

CNN's Anderson Cooper defended the cable news network from critics who excoriated it for hosting a town hall with former President Donald Trump.

Trump berated moderator Kaitlan Collins for interrupting him and disagreeing with him during the town hall, and he repeated many of the claims that have angered people on the left.

Prior to the town hall event on Wednesday, CNN had been lambasted for giving Trump a platform, but those voices grew even more vociferous during and after the broadcast.

Cooper took time on his show to respond to the angry online mob.

"The man you were so disturbed to see and hear from last night, that man is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president," said Cooper.

"And according to polling, no other Republican is even close. That man you were so upset to hear from last night, he may be president of the United States in less than two years. And that audience that upset you? That's a sampling of about half the country," he added. "They are your family members, your neighbors, and they are voting. And many said they are voting for him."

Cooper went on to warn the viewers that Trump could very well win again.

"You have every right to be outraged today and angry and never watch this network again. But do you think staying in your silo and only listening to people you agree with is going to make that person go away?" he asked rhetorically.

Many on the left were predictably not enthused about the defense Cooper offered.

"Oh so now Anderson Cooper is gonna gaslight us because CNN F***ed up? Nah. Nah. F*** that. F*** him. F*** this," responded one critic.

"I don’t need @CNN to tell me who Trump and his army of devotees are. Believe me, our family know. Why are they lecturing us?What the hell is happening over there?" replied activist Rachel Vindman.

"This is horses*** @andersoncooper and the ugliest part is that you know it," said sports activist Dave Zirin.

"CNN just patted you on the head and said you have to listen to fascists or you're in a 'silo', and choosing not to listen to fascists won't make them disappear," read another popular response.

"CNN put a criminal sexual abusing fraudster responsible for a coup against the United States on the air for an hour, backed by hundreds of his cult followers and let them trample their coworker and lie to no end," said another critic.

Despite the outrage online, CNN garnered enormous ratings with the town hall event.

Liberals are melting down over CNN airing town hall with Trump: 'CNN doesn't give a f*** about preserving democracy'

Many on the left are expressing their outrage against CNN ahead of its broadcast of a town hall event with former President Donald Trump on Wednesday night.

The town hall will be held in Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire and will be moderated by anchor Kaitlan Collins.

Trump was found liable by a jury for defaming and sexually assaulting writer E. Jean Carroll on Tuesday and was ordered to pay her $5 million in compensatory and punitive damages in the civil case.

Critics rushed to Twitter to shame and castigate CNN for giving Trump a platform after the verdict.

"CNN doesn't give a f*** about preserving democracy," said activist Jeff Tiedrich.

"CNN followed the same trajectory as so many before, Trump berated and belittled them until they became his b****. It’s his classic move, he senses weakness and greed and exploits it," replied comedian Noel Casler.

"CNN is marching towards the right wing. Giving comfort to right wing and white supremacists is having a Townhall meeting with Donald Trump boycott CNN," read one popular tweet.

"Seems like @CNN made a deal with the devil to host the @realDonaldTrump town hall. They forgot that everything Trump touches dies. The venue, stocked with Trump acolytes, will provide a platform for lies. In the end CNN will irreparably damage its brand," responded Alexander Vindman.

"If you're not a journalist, there's no reason to watch Trump's town hall tonight on CNN," said transgender activist Charlotte Clymer. "There will be nothing new learned. It will be a clown show. Don't fall for it. Don't watch it. Don't give them ratings."

The former president excoriated the verdict from his social media account on Truth Social and said that his attorneys would appeal the decision.

Trump is the current frontrunner to win the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential campaign.

Gun control activists are melting down over CNN hiring firearms expert Stephen Gutowski as an analyst

CNN announced that they hired firearms expert Stephen Gutowski as an analyst, and gun control activists went ballistic on social media.

"It's true. I'm joining CNN as an analyst," said Gutowski, the founding editor of the Reload website.

"CNN is paying me for my insight and analysis. That’s exactly what I plan to give them without fear or favor. Nobody has tried to tell me what to say or implied I ought to change my approach, which is good because I would have declined to move forward had that been the case," he wrote.

While some on the right praised CNN for adding an analyst that would bring some needed balance to the gun debate, many on the left howled with anger over the announcement.

Those voices included Shannon Watts, the founder of the gun control group "Moms Demand."

"Guns are now the leading cause of death among children and teens. Gun violence is spiking. Most of Americans - including gun owners - support commonsense gun safety measures. Instead of starting there, CNN will pay a gun lobby ally to regurgitate dangerous misinformation," Watts tweeted.

"Every time someone murders schoolchildren with an AR, cnn & you can take a little credit. Never forget it, boy," replied another commenter.

"CNN is a right wing propaganda show I no longer subscribe to it," said another critic.

"Gee, why am I not convinced that a guy running a site called “'reload' is going to bring a serious approach to assault weapons. Major fail @CNN major fail. You’ll never get fox viewers that loathe you and now you’ve lost independents and liberals," read another critical tweet.

"Apparently CNN’s new direction is them making friends with the scum of the earth," responded Democrat strategist Adam Parkhomenko.

CNN also hired Jennifer Mascia from the Trace, a non-profit organization dedicated to covering the "gun violence crisis" in the U.S.

Liberals lash out at Jake Tapper over comment about Trump and the death of Queen Elizabeth II

CNN anchor Jake Tapper angered many on the left when he opined that President Joe Biden should invite former President Donald Trump to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Tapper reported that Buckingham Palace was allowing each country to decide what politicians to invite to the queen's funeral, and added that it would be "clever" if Biden invited Trump.

"I think the clever move is to invite him and see if he goes," said Tapper.

"I don't think former President Trump would want to be subordinate on Air Force One, and I think probably prefers his own plane anyway," he added.

While Tapper made a fairly innocuous point, video of his comments was posted to social media and outraged many on the left.

"What the ACTUAL F is wrong with Jake Tapper? Is he trying to remind us all how stupid & s****y he and CNN are? If so, mission accomplished," responded a liberal activist with a vomiting emoji.

"Hey @jaketapper. Not sure you’re aware of this but the last “president” tried to overthrow our government and is being investigated for espionage for stealing national security secrets to his retirement home. What’d be “clever” is if you just left journalism to real journalists," read another popular response with more than 3k likes.

"It would also be clever for CNN to stop pushing Republican talking points," read another response.

"Jake Tapper must be loving being allowed to be his true Republican self," read another tweet.

"Jake Tapper is the stupidest fucking person on the planet," said another detractor.

Liberals similarly excoriated Tapper in March when he interviewed Bill Barr, the former U.S. attorney general. They were incensed that he would give the former Trump official a platform on a cable news network.

Buckingham Palace announced Thursday that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away at the age of 96 years.

Liberals lash out at CNN for interviewing Caitlyn Jenner during California recall

CNN viewers lambasted the cable news network on Tuesday after they interviewed Caitlyn Jenner, a California recall candidate, despite polling showing her with only 1% support.

Jenner was interviewed by Brianna Keilar on CNN with just one week before California residents decide whether to recall Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sept. 14.

Many on the left took to social media to bash the network for giving Jenner a platform.

"If any other candidate was polling at 1%, they wouldn't be getting airtime. There is absolutely no reason why Caitlyn Jenner should be on any news network," said liberal activist Charlotte Clymer.

"Why would CNN have on Caitlyn Jenner, a candidate with 1%? Is this the cable equivalent of click bait?" asked veteran Democrat strategist Bob Shrum.

"It's fully possible to support Caitlyn Jenner's identity journey and be vehemently against her beliefs and politics. I don't even know why CNN is entertaining her viability as a candidate. How about we not give reality tv stars the spotlight for political office anymore?" tweeted activist Malynda Hale.

Others, like soap opera actress Nancy Lee Grahn, called for viewers to stop watching CNN.

"The only way to show them that a #CaitlynJenner shouldn't be on a supposed legit news program is to turn it off 4 a couple of days or even a week. The break would do us all good," she tweeted.

"Why in the f*** is Caitlyn Jenner on CNN this morning? She's a f***ing joke at 1% in the bigger f***ing joke of the California recall," tweeted another critic.

Keilar challenged Jenner on the low support for her candidacy on recent polling, which Jenner dismissed. Other viewers noted that Keilar spent much of the interview attacking the frontrunner among recall challengers, conservative talk show host Larry Elder.
