Rep. Luna torpedoes Democratic narrative about Hegseth's views on women with Glenn Beck

In a conversation Wednesday with Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck, Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R) blew up Democrats' preferred narrative about Army veteran Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump's pick to run the Pentagon, along with the egalitarian conceit that women can or should perform all roles in the U.S. military.

Luna, who served in the U.S. Air Force from 2009 to 2014, earning the Air Force Achievement Medal along the way, highlighted Democrats' desperate efforts to twist Hegseth's past comments regarding women in the military into supposed disqualifiers during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday.

"Pete never said that he never wanted women to serve in the military," said Luna. "In fact, it's quite the opposite."

Hegseth has long emphasized the need to maintain high standards for combat, even if that means fewer female service members on the battlefield — something he reiterated in his opening remarks, stating, "Our standards will be high, and they will be equal, not equitable."

"It hasn't made us more effective, hasn't made us more lethal, has made fighting more complicated. … We've all served with women, and they're great," Hegseth told the titular host of "The Shawn Ryan Show" in November. "But our institutions don't have to incentivize that in places where, traditionally — not traditionally, over human history — men in those positions are more capable."

As Luna indicated, Democrats were more than willing to distort Hegseth's views on the matter.

Blaze News previously reported that Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.) asked the two-time recipient of the Bronze Star at his hearing Tuesday, "Should we believe you think the two women in this committee who served in the military made our military less capable?"

'There are different standards for women and men.'

"No, their contributions are indispensable," Hegseth said of the former female service members. "My comments are about having the same standards across the board."

Luna noted further that gender equity in terms of representation in various roles in the military is problematized not only by physical disparities between the sexes but also by the social and psychological realities that have manifested naturally as a result of these objective differences over the course of eons.

"There are certain rules that women should not be subjected to in the military," said Luna. "So in a lot of foreign countries, you will see there will be women-only sniper teams and/or women-only teams that will see certain combat. Now, I preface this by saying that there was a study that was done, and it shows that when women were placed in harm's way ... the natural instinct for men was to protect that woman. And that's the right thing to do. That's that 'toxic masculinity' that the left tries to attack us with all the time."

"That's human nature," said Beck. "We're born with that."

Luna noted that while a noble instinct, it could undermine the work of co-ed teams. The congresswoman provided the hypothetical of a female service member taking fire, then suffering an injury on a special forces team. Luna suggested that whereas if the injured party was a man, his comrades would likely maintain focus on the mission, in the case of a woman, the men on the team might instead feel compelled to rush to her defense.

"It could ultimately result in ... more casualties, more people getting hurt, and then also jeopardize the success of the mission," said Luna. "And so I think when we're looking at military policy as a whole, we need to take these things into consideration."

Recognizing that Hegseth is a prime target for demonization because he is a white, Christian male, Luna seized upon the opportunity and the relative safety of her identity to push the point home, stressing that men and women are not interchangeable and there are certain roles for which women should be ineligible.

"There are different standards for women and men. That's just a fact," said the congresswoman. "It doesn't mean that women aren't as good as men. I think there's been cases where women can be better snipers than men are."

After a RAND-led and Congress-ordered study determined that women were not only "injured at significantly higher rates than men" but were "failing at noticeably higher rates" than their male counterparts — the ACFT pass rate for women enlisted in the regular Army was 52%, whereas the pass rate for men was 92% — the Army jettisoned its gender-neutral Army Combat Fitness Test in 2022 and lowered standards for female soldiers.

After stating that women should not be required to register for the draft — something former Democratic Sen. Jon Tester (Mont.) pushed for with Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) before voters rejected him at the ballot box — Luna underscored once again, "Women should not be placed in certain combat roles in the military."

'Schiff just hit the fan': House Republicans poised to censure Rep. Adam Schiff

The GOP-controlled House is poised to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and possibly fine him $16 million for his role in advancing the debunked Russian collusion narrative, abusing the trust afforded him as chairman of the Intelligence Committee, and for behaving "dishonestly and dishonorably."

Now, it's just a matter of getting Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna's resolution to the floor and seeing it through to a vote.

While House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) indicated he supports Luna's resolution and is "working with her on the best timing to bring it to the House Floor to help it pass," not all Republicans are on board with the current wording of the resolution.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) indicated that if the resolution comes to the floor, he will vote against it, noting, "I'm still litigating a federal lawsuit against Pelosi over a salary reduction she imposed on me for my refusal to wear a mask. ... The Constitution says the House may make its own rules but we can't violate other (later) provisions of the Constitution. A $16 million fine is a violation of the 27th and 8th amendments."

Republicans will need to present a united front to see the resolution through, as Democrats intend to introduce a motion to table or kill the resolution and are sticking together, reported Axios.

Luna, a member of the Freedom Caucus, suggested the vote will likely be held Thursday morning.

“Looks like my vote to censure & condemn @RepAdamSchiff will likely be held Thursday morning.”
— Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (@Rep. Anna Paulina Luna) 1686676571

The resolution, introduced by the Florida congresswoman May 23, accuses Schiff of abusing the trust afforded him while serving as ranking member and then chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. It further condemns him for behaving "dishonestly and dishonorably on many other occasions."

The resolution states Schiff cited evidence of collusion between former President Donald Trump and Russia "that — as is clear from reports by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz, and Special Counsel Durham — does not exist. ... By repeatedly telling these falsehoods, Representative Schiff purposely deceived his Committee, Congress, and the American people."

Luna's resolution also drags Schiff for:

 • lending "credibility to the Steele dossier — a collection of debunked collusion accusations funded by President Trump's political rivals — by reading false Steele allegation into the Congressional Record at a HPSCI hearing on March 20, 2017";
 • abusing his privileged access to classified information by composing "a false memo justifying the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant application on trump associate Carter Page, which Inspector General Horowitz later found was riddled with 17 major mistakes and omissions, provoking FISA Court Presiding Judge Rosemary Collyer to state unequivocally that the Federal Bureau of Investigation acted to 'mislead the FISC'";
 • grossly violating Carter Page's civil liberties by smearing him "as a Russian collaborator and justifying spurious investigations of him";
 • "falsely denying that his staff coordinated with a whistleblower to launch the first impeachment of President Trump"; and
 • reciting "a false, concocted rendition of a phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky."

Luna claimed Schiff owes the American people a debt, as his "lies, misrepresentations, and abuses of sensitive information" resulted in a Russian-collusion investigation that cost taxpayers $32 million.

This figure appears to reflect the cost of the two-year special counsel investigation led by Robert Mueller as indicated in an expenditures report circulated by the Department of Justice in August 2019.

To recoup this debt, Luna suggested that Schiff be fined $16 million.

Concerning the forthcoming vote on the resolution, Luna tweeted, "Schiff just hit the fan."

Schiff hit Twitter with a response Tuesday, employing a turn of phrase coined by Adolf Hitler: "Today Rep. Anna Paulina Luna introduced a resolution to censure & fine me $16 million. Authors of the big lie are attacking me for telling the truth &holding Trump accountable. This is not just an attack on me—it’s an attack on our democracy & the institution of Congress."

“ICYMI—Today Rep. Anna Paulina Luna introduced a resolution to censure & fine me $16 million.

Authors of the big lie are attacking me for telling the truth &holding Trump accountable.

This is not just an attack on me—it’s an attack on our democracy & the institution of Congress.”
— Adam Schiff (@Adam Schiff) 1686687384

After first seizing upon the Republican effort to hold him accountable as a fundraising opportunity, Schiff later told CNN that he was "flattered" by the "MAGA resolution," which he suggested was a testament to his effectiveness.

FBI is afraid informant with info on alleged Biden bribery scandal will be murdered if unmasked, says Rep. Luna

A member of the House Oversight Committee claimed Monday that the FBI fears an informant with insights into an alleged criminal bribery scheme involving President Joe Biden "will be killed" if unmasked.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) tweeted, "Just left meeting for House Oversight. The @FBI is afraid their informant will be killed if unmasked, based on the info he has brought forward about the Biden family."

Luna noted in a subsequent tweet, "According to the @FBI, Biden as VP was involved in a 5 million dollar bribery scheme with a foreign national."

Luna made these claims after House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) and ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) glimpsed an unclassified document the FBI has worked hard to keep under wraps, which reportedly contains "valuable, verifiable information" describing an alleged $5 million "criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relation to the exchange of money for policy decisions."

After examining the document in a secure environment, Comer announced, "Today, FBI officials confirmed that the unclassified FBI-generated record has not been disproven and is currently being used in an ongoing investigation," adding that the investigation is likely being undertaken in Biden's home state of Delaware.

Comer continued, stating, "The confidential human source who provided information about then-Vice President Biden being involved in a criminal bribery scheme is a trusted, highly-credible informant who has been used by the FBI for over 10 years and has been paid over six figures. ... These are facts and no amount of spin, and frankly lies, from the White House or congressional Democrats can change this information."

The House Oversight chair later told Fox News host Sean Hannity that the source, whom the FBI allegedly said would be endangered if exposed, is one of the bureau's "most highly credible human sources" — who had been "part of the bureau for 13 years, dating back to the Obama administration," reported the New York Post.

Comer said during his interview with Hannity, "This particular document was dated in 2020. But there are notes in the document that date back to 2017. We believe that this human source initially informed the FBI of the bribery scheme back in 2017."

According to Comer, the claims in the file comport with the Oversight Committee's earlier findings pertaining to subpoenaed bank records showing the "Bidens' foreign entanglements."

In early May, the committee revealed "thousands of pages of financial records" allegedly showing that the Biden family and their associates created a "complicated network of companies" in an attempt to conceal millions of dollars of payments from foreign businesses.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) suggested that the informant who supplied information on the alleged criminal scheme involving Biden may be "a lot more credible than Christopher Steele, the guy who created the dossier that they used to go after President Trump. I bet you this source has a lot more credibility."

The FBI's alleged claim that the informant, who could shed some additional light on this matter, would be at risk if unmasked has been met with suspicion and surprise online.

Bob Hoge of RedState suggested that this "sounds like another attempt at an excuse by Wray as to why they won’t produce the information that Comer demands."

Former Trump advisor Kash Patel appeared to agree, writing on Truth Social, "FBI is running their fictional traps, telling Congress if the source is revealed in the subpoenaed document to Chairman Comer- the source will die. we heard this same pretextual farce from the same FBI Director, Wray, when he told @DevineNunes and I while running Russia Gate- if FBI reveals Steel n co, sources will die, and nations will crumble."

Patel added, "No one died, the only thing that crumbled was the FBI for its corruption coverup."

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) responded to Luna, "Oh my."

Rogan O’Handley, a conservative commentator with Turning Point USA, responded to Luna, tweeting, "The FBI is not only confirming the bribery evidence is real, but that the Biden Crime Family may murder people trying to expose them We live in a 3rd world dictatorship."

For refusing to turn over the unclassified document to lawmakers as legally required, House Republicans will initiate contempt of Congress hearings against FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday.
