Muslim pundit blames GOP plot for imam praying against LGBTQ agenda at his mosque and gets ridiculed online

A Muslim pundit who frequently appears on MSNBC tried to blame Republican propaganda for his imam's comments against the LGBTQ community at his mosque, and he was widely ridiculed on social media.

Wajahat Ali, an author and activist, tweeted about the shocking comments on Friday.

"Finished my Friday prayer at my local mosque where the imam prayed we would be saved from 'the LGBTQ in our homes.' Democrats are underestimating how pervasive GOP CRT & trans fear messaging/ propaganda has taken hold in religious communities & suburbs," Ali wrote.

He went on to say that some religious communities are being "used by hateful groups" on the LGBTQ issue.

"And a good reminder a majority of Muslims are pro abortion rights and marriage equality in America. But disinformation and fear mongering go a long way when cloaked under terms of 'religous freedom' and 'parental choice,'" he added.

Many on social media laughed at his assertion and responded with mockery.

"It’s the GOP’s fault that the imam in the mosque you frequent has socially traditional views?" responded Noam Blum.

"Ahh yes the religion of Islam has always been historically pro LGBTQIA and has only recently been turned sour by *checks notes* REPUBLICAN PROPAGANDA," mocked another critic.

"The Republicans were so effective because they started their work early, in the 7th century," read another tweet.

"Is it possible Muslims come to their own conclusions based off their own religious jurisprudence and they are not just victims of a GOP plot?" replied journalist Zaid Jilani.

Ali responded to some of the mockery in a later tweet.

"Nice to see this thread brought out the trolls who are into pluralism and open minded discourse as evidenced by their support for a racist vulgarian and bigoted policies. Again majority of Muslims in America support abortion rights and marriage equality - and CRT fear is working," Ali added.

Ali previously made headlines in June when he scolded Muslims who were speaking out against the LGBTQ agenda. He was assailed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which disagreed with his assessment.

"Instead of addressing the substance of the concerns that these families have raised about what's happening public schools, the likes of @mehdirhasan and @WajahatAli paint these parents as dupes being used by the political right," responded CAIR deputy director Edward Ahmed Mitchell.

"This is ludicrous," he added.

CAIR fires back at MSNBC host for scolding Muslims who oppose LGBTQ lessons for children: 'This is ludicrous'

A top leader of the Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a scathing response to Muslim MSNBC hosts who scolded their fellow Muslims for opposing LGBTQ lessons for their children.

Supporters of the LGBTQ movement have looked on in horror as many traditional Muslims have joined up with Christians and other religious communities to oppose the imposition of LGBTQ lessons on their children in public schools.

MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan interviewed author and activist Wajahat Ali about how Muslims can hold to their traditions without finding common cause with traditional conservatives.

"For people of conservative religious groups, from religious communities, who do not like the pace of change when it comes to things like gender, gay rights, et cetera, pride month, is there a way for them to 'defend their beliefs,' protect their traditions, religious views, moral values, through peaceful protest, whatever they want to do, without linking up arms with people who, once they're done bashing gays, will go back to bashing Muslims, or vice versa?" said Hasan to Ali.

"Is there a way to do that without allying with the GOP?" he added.

Ali went on at length to criticize Muslims for opposing LGBTQ curricula and concluded with a stern warning to the Islamic community.

— (@)

"The way you're doing it now by aligning with right wing mobs that have manufactured fear and pandering against our communities is not the way and will only lead to longterm disaster for our communities, and our allies," Ali said to loud agreement from Hasan.

On Thursday, CAIR deputy director Edward Ahmed Mitchell issued his response.

"Instead of addressing the substance of the concerns that these families have raised about what's happening public schools, the likes of @mehdirhasan and @WajahatAli paint these parents as dupes being used by the political right. Other critics on the left have gone even further, accusing Muslim parents of deliberately allying with 'white supremacists,'" he wrote in a statement on Twitter.

"This is ludicrous," Mitchell retorted.

"So is implying that Muslims should not support a cause simply because rightwing activists or conservative Christians happen to support that same cause. It doesn't matter who supports a cause. What matters is whether the cause itself is just," he argued.

Mitchell went on to say that Muslims have aligned with groups they disagree with broadly whenever they advocate for true causes, "even communists hostile to Islam."

He concludes, "the mainstream of the Muslim American community will continue to independently stand up for what is right and against what is wrong, regardless of what the right or the left think."

Among the more notable re-alignment of Muslims with conservatives is the vote to ban LGBTQ flags from city-owned property by the Hamtramck City Council in Michigan. In a separate incident, a Democrat politician in Maryland accused Muslims opposed to LGBTQ instruction of being aligned with "white supremacists and outright bigots." She later apologized.

'But really, MSNBC: F*** you': Matt Taibbi makes clear he won't be lectured on integrity by a network that spent years pushing statist propaganda

Independent journalist and "Twitter Files" investigator Matt Taibbi appeared on MSNBC's "The Mehdi Hasan Show" Thursday to engage in debate with its titular host. It is evident from the participants' post-debate chatter online that neither journalist nor script-reader were able to move past their differences.

Prior to going on the show, Taibbi noted, "I’m looking forward to it as one would a root canal or rectal. I accepted the invitation because it would have been wrong to refuse, on the off chance [Hasan] was planning a good-faith discussion."

Taibbi originally raised the possibility of a public debate with Hasan in late March, after the MSNBC script-reader made a dig at the journalist's expense.

In an article entitled "Eat Me, MSNBC" on his Substack, queued up ahead of the interview, Taibbi added, "If you're reading this, things have gone another way."

Hasan opened the debate with an acrimonious four-minute introduction, in which he admitted to mocking Taibbi "for doing PR work for the world's richest man" and noted that Taibbi had, in turn, accused him of "being an ardent establishment moralist."

In the ensuing tangle, Taibbi and Hasan pored over the facts and implications raised in the Twitter Files.

Hasan, however, made things personal, implying a deficit of both competence and integrity on Taibbi's part; accusing Taibbi of "omitting crucial context"; and ultimately asking whether he had crossed a line in his work exposing collusion between government and big tech with Elon Musk's help.

"The hilarity of this coming from MSNBC, which did nothing but vomit up fake Russia hit stories that came straight from the FBI for six consecutive years, that you guys still haven't apologized for, is unbelievable," said Taibbi.

\u201cIn response to @mehdirhasan's attempted scolding, @mtaibbi says:\n\n"The hilarity of this coming from MSNBC which did nothing but vomit up fake Russiagate stories... that you guys still haven't apologized for." \n\nMehdi's defense: "I wasn't there in that period."\u201d
— Aaron Mat\u00e9 (@Aaron Mat\u00e9) 1680830744

Hasan displaced blame, noting he had not been around when his network advanced unsubstantiated claims later proven to be falsehoods.

Taibbi emphasized that the Twitter Files "are self-contained stories" that are "going to hold up over the test of time unlike your Russian story," then went on offense, pressing Hasan on his work downplaying the Hunter Biden laptop story.

"I don’t think I’ve ever written about the Hunter Biden story, so maybe you should apologize for putting words in my mouth. You said at the beginning I put words, I never said a word about the Hunter Biden story," responded Hasan.

Aaron Maté of the Gray Zone later noted on Twitter that Hasan had indeed discussed Hunter Biden and downplayed the story, "all intended at minimizing it, and the censorship that came with it."

\u201cHere's an example of @mehdirhasan, contrary to his new excuse-making, saying a word about the Hunter Biden story: all intended at minimizing it, and the censorship that came with it.\u201d
— Aaron Mat\u00e9 (@Aaron Mat\u00e9) 1680829731

In "Eat Me, MSNBC," which Taibbi published after all, the independent journalist underscored that the corporate liberal media outfit — of which Hasan is but a part — had played a big role in pushing the Russian collusion narrative.

"The network didn't just re-report this stuff; it became the favored launching pad for all the most blatant blue-Anon disinformation, like California congressman Adam Schiff saying he had 'more than circumstantial' evidence of collusion, or former Obama defense official Evelyn Farkas suggesting the Trump administration would try to destroy evidence if they 'found out how we knew what we knew about the Trump staff’s dealing with Russians.' Farkas later testified under oath that she 'didn’t know anything' about collusion," wrote Taibbi.

Rather than correct course after sources provided the network with faulty or outright false information, Taibbi said, "MSNBC did the opposite, hiring seemingly everyone who'd helped them down this reputation-tarnishing path."

After dragging MSNBC for getting so much so wrong for so long, Taibbi noted, "After throwing away all their standards, clowning themselves with years of wrong stories, doling out rice bowls to the procession of spooks who now clog their airwaves, and watching as their ratings predictably collapsed, now they want to give mea hard time. Not because I got anything wrong, but because they don’t like my opinions, or where things like the Twitter Files reports came from."

While Hasan got personal in the Thursday night debate, Taibbi indicated ahead of time his "beef with MSNBC is personal."

He noted that people who used to be his friends at the network involved in "one of the biggest train wrecks in the history of our business ... have the stones to point at me with this 'What happened to you?' routine. It’s rare that the following words are justified on every level, but really, MSNBC: F*** you."

MSNBC host takes a dig at Bob Dole just hours after the late senator's death — and gets taken to the woodshed

MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan took a dig at former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) just hours after Dole passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 98.

Dole — a decorated World War II veteran as well as former Republican presidential candidate and Senate majority leader — was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in February.

At the time, he said, "While I certainly have some hurdles ahead, I also know that I join millions of Americans who face significant health challenges of their own."

What are the details?

Hasan on Sunday criticized the New York Times' reporting on Dole's death, which highlighted his selfless and brave military and public service.

He shared the Times' tweet about Dole's death, which said, "Breaking News: Bob Dole is dead at 98. He overcame grievous war wounds to become Senate majority leader, spending decades on the national stage."

Hasan captioned the tweet with a dig of his own, "Bob Dole, who endorsed and voted for Trump twice, and called himself a 'Trumper' as recently as July, has passed away."

What was the response?

Former Democratic congressional candidate Christopher Hale wrote, "Bob Dole fought and was paralyzed in World War II so television pundits could trash him freely after his recently deceased body was still warm."

Podcaster and columnist Derek Hunter added, "Bob Dole contributed more [to] the cause of freedom, to this country, and the world than @mehdirhasan, of any of the goon squad over at MSNBC could ever hope to in 50 lifetimes."

Hasan later seemed to complain about the hate he was receiving for his remarks, and in a follow-up tweet, he wrote, "Trump supporters & rightwingers seem to think it is somehow a disrespectful attack by me on the late Bob Dole to point out he was a Trump supporter. That's kind of a revealing self-own. Btw here's their hero Trump after another Republican war veteran died."

His tweet accompanied a New York Times report titled "Trump Renews Attacks on John McCain, Months After Senator's Death."

'A war hero and among the greatest of the Greatest Generation'

In a statement on his passing, Dole's family said, "Senator Robert Joseph Dole died early this morning in his sleep. At his death, at age 98, he had served the United States of America faithfully for 79 years."

On Dole's passing, President Joe Biden said, "Bob was an American statesman like few in our history. A war hero and among the greatest of the Greatest Generation. And to me, he was also a friend whom I could look to for trusted guidance, or a humorous line at just the right moment to settle frayed nerves."

What has Hasan said in the past?

Hasan in 2019 came under fire for comparing non-Muslim people to animals, which eventually prompted an apology.

Hasan, 42, said that in his twenties, he said things that he ended up regretting.

In his 2019 apology, Hasan said, "Like a lot of journos (humans?) I’ve said things years ago that I now deeply regret. Chief among them for me is, more than a decade ago, in my 20s, when I wasn’t a public figure, I gave a bunch of speeches to students on Islam/extremism. And I said dumb offensive ranty stuff."

“Speaking without notes, & trying to be bombastic, I made stupid sweeping remarks about non-Muslims, especially atheists," he qualified. "I cringe now when I rehear/reread those remarks. I made stupid offensive analogies to animals. Argh. I’m embarrassed to have to write about all this again. But I don’t want to defend/explain today. I just want to say, I’m sorry.”

The offending remarks included comparing non-Muslims and atheists to "cattle" and more.

In resurfaced recordings, Hasan was captured delivering what appeared to be a sermon on Islamic law in which he said, "All of these ulama unanimously agree that at the very minimum if Yazid was not a Kaffir — then at the very minimum he was a fasiq, a transgressor, a breaker of Islamic laws, a corrupt individual, a tyrant, a killer a drunkard, a dog lover, a music lover, a homosexual, a pedophile, a sexual deviant, someone who slept with his own mother."

“In this respect the Koran describes the atheist as cattle," he added. "As cattle of those who grow the crops and do not stop and wonder about this world."

Mehdi Hasan argues that a black GOP candidate's win in Virginia's lieutenant governor contest does not discount notion that racism fueled Youngkin's gubernatorial victory

Winsome Sears, a black Republican, won the lieutenant governor election in the state of Virginia, seemingly undermining any suggestion that racism among GOP voters helped propel Republican Glenn Youngkin to win in the state's gubernatorial contest.

But Mehdi Hasan, the host of "The Mehdi Hasan Show," is rejecting that line of argument.

"The argument that white supremacy & racial resentment couldn't have helped power Youngkin to victory in VA because the Republicans elected a black lieutenant governor - Winsome Sears - is as convincing as saying Trump isn't a racist because he made Ben Carson his HUD secretary," Hasan tweeted.

— Mehdi Hasan (@mehdirhasan) 1635960174

Hasan continued to stand by his statement amid pushback.

Responding to Bloomberg opinion columnist Eli Lake, who had noted that racists and white supremacists do not vote in favor of electing minority candidates, Hasan wrote: "Racists happily voted for Trump who appointed Ben Carson and Nikki Haley to high positions. You need to stop thinking of racists as just KKK members. Plenty of 'ordinary' Americans have racially resentful views. Stop being so reductionist."

Actually you\u2019re playing word games Eli. Racists happily voted for Trump who appointed Ben Carson and Nikki Haley to high positions. You need to stop thinking of racists as just KKK members. — Mehdi Hasan (@mehdirhasan) 1635968937

Lake pressed the matter further: "So are you saying @WinsomeSears is an avatar of racial resentment and white supremacy? What about @JasonMiyaresVA? Or do you think the racists who voted for @GlennYoungkin split their ticket and @TerryMcAuliffe voters voted for the GOP Lt. governor and AG?"

Hasan fired back: "Are you saying that running on fake 'critical race theory' campaigns isn't racist? Because that's what I am saying. And yes, lots of people of color give cover to, and enable, racism all the time. See Carson, B. Haley, N. Or are you saying people of color can't be racist??"

Tim Graham of the Media Research Center was also among those who pushed back against Hasan.

"Except the 'white supremacy' Republicans VOTED for Sears. If they were a pile of racists, she would have lost," Graham wrote.

Hasan responded: "Yes it's a new rule of American politics! If you have ever voted for, liked, or befriended a Black person you can never again be accused of holding any racist views or supporting any racist policies. You're immunized, to borrow a phrase not so beloved to Republicans. Gotcha."

Joe Rogan warns vaccine passports take America 'one step closer' to dictatorship as outrage mob tries to cancel him again

Joe Rogan railed against vaccine passports on a recent episode of his podcast, which drew the ire of the outrage mob who are once again attempting to cancel the massively successful podcast host. Rogan warned that vaccine passports take America "one step closer" to a dictatorship.

During an episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" released on Friday, Rogan said he knows "smart people that are applauding" vaccine passports. He also said people calling for mandatory vaccinations, such as CNN host Don Lemon, are "dumb" and"don't understand human history."

The comedian-turned-podcast host proudly said the United States is "the first experiment in self-government that actually worked, and it created the greatest superpower the world has ever known."

"It created the cultural machine, the greatest machine of art and creativity and innovation right here," Rogan proclaimed. "And how did it do that? It did it through freedom because when you give people freedom, you let people do whatever the f*** they want to do, they actually find ways to succeed and grow and thrive."

Rogan warned that vaccine passports bring the U.S. one step closer to a dictatorship.

"But as soon as you put the boots to them, as soon as you tell them, 'You have to do this or you can't do that,'" Rogan continued. "Now you have a mini dictator."

"You have one step away from a king. One step closer. You're moving one step closer to dictatorship," Rogan declared. "That's what the f*** is happening. That's what's going to happen with the vaccine passport. That's what's going to happen if they close borders. You can't enter New York City unless you have your papers. You can't go here unless you have that. You can't get on a plane unless you do what I say."

Then he predicted that the government is "not going to give that power up."

"If they can figure out a way to force you into carrying papers, into carrying something that lets you enter businesses or lets you do this or lets businesses open," Rogan said during the interview with Evan Hafer, founder and CEO of Black Rifle Coffee Company. "As soon as you give politicians power that didn't exist previously, historically they don't relinquish that power."

Rogan wondered why the messaging about preventing coronavirus never includes losing weight and promoting a healthy diet. He cited a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study from March that found about 78% of people who have been hospitalized, needed a ventilator, or died from COVID-19 have been overweight or obese.

Rogan then cited a peer-reviewed scientific paper titled: "Imperfect Vaccination Can Enhance the Transmission of Highly Virulent Pathogens," which was published in the PLOS Biology scientific journal in 2015. The premise was also posted in a February NPR article titled: "Vaccines Could Drive The Evolution Of More COVID-19 Mutants." The NPR article stated, "Mutant coronaviruses can make vaccines less effective. At the same time, vaccines can contribute to virus mutations, but this is a slow process that should be manageable."
