18-wheeler speeding the wrong direction on highway was driven by — you guessed it

The suspected driver of the 18-wheeler filmed on Wednesday speeding in the wrong direction down a stretch of highway in Missouri has been identified as a Minnesota-based Somali migrant.

Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Wood indicated that while he was not immediately taken into custody, Abdiasis Ibrahim Ali, 38, has been charged with driving the wrong direction on a divided highway and operating a motor vehicle in a careless manner.

'He wasn't able to read.'

The prosecutor noted further that a no-bound warrant for Ali's arrest has been requested and that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified.

X user MolonLabeBTC shared footage on Wednesday showing a truck barreling southbound down Highway 61 — in one of the northbound lanes. The X user claimed that he began following the "foreign invader" after the truck nearly hit him "head on" and that the incident took place roughly five miles north of Troy.

Sgt. Dallas Thompson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stated, "We were glad someone saw this yesterday and called it in to try to get resources there to get the vehicle stopped," reported KMOV-TV.

After the driver crossed over to the southbound lane, a state trooper reportedly stopped him and conducted a roadside inspection.

"During that test, the trooper noticed he wasn't able to read and comprehend the road signs," said Thompson.

Having been found incapable of demonstrating basic reading comprehension and proficiency in English, "the driver was taken out of service," added Thompson.

After Ali was taken out of service, his co-driver, Abdulahi Abshir Alim — who was apparently in the "sleeper" at the time of the incident — took over, said Wood.

Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy indicated that despite his apparent inability to read road signs, the driver was in possession of a Minnesota commercial driver’s license.

Duffy noted further that the driver's carrier, Cargo Transportation LLC, is now under investigation.

Department of Transportation records indicate that Cargo Transportation is based in Hopkins, Minnesota — in what appears to be an apartment complex — and has two drivers who drove over 81,000 miles in 2024. As of Friday, the company's USDOT status was still listed as "active."

Blaze News was unable to reach the company for comment.

The trailer apparently hauled by the Somali is owned by Taylor Trucking Lines whose vice president said in a statement obtained by KMOV, "The driver is not an employee or contractor of Taylor Trucking Lines. He is a contractor for Cargo Transportation. The driver was fired shortly after the video was seen."

The incident took place the day after President Donald Trump called on lawmakers to "pass what we will call the Dalilah Law, barring any state from granting commercial driver's licenses to illegal aliens."

The proposed legislation takes its name from Dalilah Coleman, a little girl grievously injured in a car accident that was allegedly caused by an illegal alien from India who reportedly obtained a commercial driver's license from California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom's Department of Motor Vehicles.

According to the USDOT, roughly 200,000 truckers hold non-domiciled CDLs, and over 14,000 truckers have been kicked out of service for failing to meet basic language requirements since the department brought back English proficiency tests in May 2025.

To Cave On Mass Deportations Is To Cave On Every Other Issue

The Trump administration believes it can abandon the mass deportation effort, but still deliver wins elsewhere. This is all but impossible.

DHS blasts 'ACTIVIST' Biden judge's order to cut loose hundreds of illegal aliens in Chicago, pause deportations

Despite the ongoing obstructionism by Chicago's deeply unpopular mayor, Brandon Johnson (D), and other open-borders activists, federal immigration agents continue to risk life and limb with the aim of unburdening the crime-ridden sanctuary city of some of the roughly 150,000 illegal aliens who have sapped its resources, strained its systems, and endangered its people.

'An ACTIVIST JUDGE is putting the lives of Americans directly at risk.'

A Biden judge decided on Wednesday to undo some of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's hard work, ordering the Trump administration to free hundreds of the illegal aliens recently apprehended in the Chicago area, including some of those captured during the Department of Homeland Security's Operation Midway Blitz.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Blaze News in a statement. "At every turn, activist judges, sanctuary politicians, and violent rioters have actively tried to prevent our law enforcement officers from arresting and removing the worst of the worst."

"Now an ACTIVIST JUDGE is putting the lives of Americans directly at risk by ordering 615 illegal aliens be released into the community," added McLaughlin.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Cummings, a Biden appointee, ruled last month that ICE had violated a 2022 consent decree settlement that barred federal immigration agents from conducting warrantless arrests unless they have cause to suspect an individual is both an illegal alien and a flight risk.

The settlement, which was the result of a lawsuit filed by the open-borders advocacy organization National Immigrant Justice Center and the ACLU of Illinois, was set to expire on May 12, 2025. However, the NIJC filed a motion to continue enforcing the settlement earlier this year after ICE made a series of warrantless illegal alien arrests.

Cummings, who previously claimed that NIJC's pending motion kept the settlement alive, decided on Oct. 7 to extend the consent decree until Feb. 2, 2026, and ordered ICE to apply it to all agents nationwide.

On Wednesday, Cummings went even farther to appease the open-borders activists, ordering ICE to free 13 illegal aliens by Friday and to release another 615 illegal aliens on bond into a monitoring program by Nov. 21, unless the Trump administration appeals and/or demonstrates that the arrests were in keeping with the consent decree.

Lawyers for the government are considering an appeal, indicating that at least 12 of the 615 illegal aliens arrested in Chicago between June and early October are considered high flight risks, reported Axios.

The activist judge also ordered the Trump administration to pause deportation and voluntary departure procedures for all those illegal aliens who are pending release and to provide additional information concerning all arrests that have taken place since his October ruling.

Michelle Garcia, deputy legal director at the ACLU of Illinois, suggested that by committing to enforcing the consent decree, Cummings has set the stage for "even more of the hundreds of people illegally arrested and detained during Operation Midway Blitz to be released."

Mark Fleming, associate director of litigation at NIJC, also celebrated Cummings' apparent judicial activism, stating, "We are grateful that Judge Cummings sees the urgency of this moment and has ordered the Trump administration to allow hundreds to leave the inhumane detention centers where they are being unlawfully held and to have a chance at the due process our laws require."

'Begin repatriating': German chancellor admits it's time to give Syrian migrants the boot

The Alternative for Germany party has spent over a decade sounding the alarm about the fallout of mass migration in Europe. For its efforts, the German political establishment has sought to ban, vilify, disarm, debank, and criminalize the party and its members.

Now that imported crime has become too much to bear — such that Berlin is once again a dangerous place for Jews and homosexuals — and the AFD has become too popular to ignore, a leading German official has joined the chorus of those seeking to repatriate so-called asylum seekers from Syria.

'41.8% of all people suspected of crimes in Germany last year — a year that saw a nearly 6% increase in year-over-year violent crimes — were foreign nationals.'

Chancellor Friedrich Merz — whose center-right coalition consisting of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union parties is neck and neck in the polls with the AFD — struck a new tone last week, suggesting that the bulk of the over one million Syrians who flooded into the country over the past decade should hit the road.

Merz suggested further that he'll work with Syria's terrorist president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, to help facilitate the return, reported Politico.

"The civil war in Syria is over," said Merz. "There are now no longer any grounds for asylum in Germany, which means we can begin repatriating people."

The chancellor noted further that the Syrians temporarily dwelling in Europe have a responsibility to rebuild their war-torn nation.

"Without these people, reconstruction will not be possible," said Merz. "Those in Germany who then refuse to return to the country can, of course, be deported in the near future."

Marc Bernhard, an AFD lawmaker, recently told PBS' "Frontline" that of the 1 to 1.2 million Syrians now in Germany, "Most of them don't have jobs. Most of them are not well integrated. That's exactly the issue."

Fewer than 290,000 Syrian nationals were reportedly employed in Germany last year.

So-called asylum seekers from Syria receive over $500 a month under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act as well as other benefits, including housing support, dental care, and health insurance.

'These people must return to their homeland.'

In addition to draining citizen resources, Syrians in Germany are also grossly over-represented in crime statistics.

Mass migration to Germany from the Middle East has coincided in recent years with a massive spike in rape and other violent crimes.

A government-commissioned study revealed in early 2018 that there was a 10.4% increase in violent crime at the height of the immigration crisis. Deutsche Welle reported that 90% of this violent crime increase was attributable to immigrants, predominantly males between the ages of 14 and 30.

Foreign nationals have continued to commit an alarming number of crimes in the years since. Federal police crime statistics indicate that 41.8% of all people suspected of crimes in Germany last year — a year that saw a nearly 6% increase in year-over-year violent crimes — were foreign nationals.

The top five nationalities of non-German suspects in 2024 were: Syrian, 114,889 suspects; Turkish, 93,253 suspects; Ukrainian, 55,669 suspects; Romanian, 65,041 suspects; and Afghani, 49,427 suspects.

The imported crime problem became so bad last year that Olaf Scholz, the former German chancellor who long championed predecessor Angela Merkel's open-borders policies, acknowledged that criminal noncitizens should be deported.

Speaking a month after an Afghan migrant butchered a police officer at an anti-jihad demonstration in Mannheim, Germany, Scholz said, "It outrages me when someone who has found protection here commits the most serious of crimes."

"Such criminals should be deported, even if they come from Syria or Afghanistan," added Scholz.

Just weeks after Scholz dared upset the open-borders leftists in the Bundestag, a 26-year-old Syrian migrant butchered three people — two men ages 56 and 67 and a 56-year-old woman — and left another six grievously wounded at a Christian music festival in Solingen.

The situation has deteriorated further in the months since, prompting Scholz's successor and other German establishmentarians to echo the AFD's calls for action; however, they appear unwilling to fully embrace mass deportations. Instead, they are reportedly entertaining the prospect of deportation of criminal Syrian nationals.

Merz indicated last week that he would speak to al-Sharaa about deporting Syrians convicted of crimes back to their homeland.

The AFD clearly isn't interested in such half-measures.

"We say quite clearly: Syrians must now have their protected status revoked because the reason for their fleeing no longer applies," AFD co-leader Alice Weidel said two days after German authorities arrested a Syrian man suspected of preparing a jihadist attack in Berlin. "These people must return to their homeland."

Police charge man and woman in connection with Scottish axe girl incident

Police Scotland has charged a man and a woman in connection with the young, axe-wielding Scottish girl who went viral online.

In late August, a 12-year-old Scottish girl was charged with possessing weapons after online rumors swirled that she was fending off a migrant man. She was seen brandishing an axe and a large knife on video.

The following week, both the accused immigrant and an alleged witness spoke out, providing conflicting accounts of the events in St Ann Lane, Dundee, Scotland.

Now, police have laid subsequent charges.

'They are thankful that everyone now knows the truth.'

In a statement to Blaze News, Police Scotland said, "Following extensive enquiries, a man and a woman have been charged in connection with an incident in St Ann Lane in Dundee, which was reported around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, 23 August, 2025."

The statement added, "The circumstances will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal," otherwise known as Scotland's public prosecutor.

Police Scotland also said the 12-year-old girl who was previously charged for "being in possession of offensive weapons" will be referred to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration, a government body that decides whether a child needs legal intervention from the state.

"Members of the public are again urged not to share misinformation about this incident or speculate on the circumstances," the statement concluded.

The new charges seemingly confirm allegations made in a witness testimony, as well as claims made online by a reporter who claims to have been in communication with the 12-year-old's family.

Fatos Ali Dumana, the accused 21-year-old Bulgarian immigrant, had previously told the Daily Mail, "If I did hurt the girl, why didn't the police arrest me? They have done nothing to me."

He added, "They saw from the CCTV cameras from Farmfoods that she was stopping me go on my way to the shop."

Dumana also alleged that another bystander witnessed him being attacked and labeled a "f**king migrant."

"I did not hit them. I am a human, not an animal," he added.

At the same time, a TikTok user named Mayah, 13, said in a video testimony that she witnessed the incident personally. Mayah said she was with two sisters, Ruby, 13, and Lola, 12, the latter of whom was allegedly subjected to inappropriate remarks from a strange man.

As the altercation escalated, the alleged witness claimed that the man's sister attacked Ruby, causing head injuries and sending her to the hospital with a concussion.

"She has a severe concussion and swelling inside of her head," Mayah said.

It was at that point Lola allegedly brandished the weapons in an effort to protect her sister.

Neither Dumana's nor Mayah's testimonies have benefited from any further proof from witnesses, CCTV, or evidence from police, but an independent reporter — who says he has spoken with the family — now says he has concrete evidence to go along with the newly laid charges.

A reporter going by the online moniker Aesthetica claims to have been in contact with Lola's family and even to have helped her mother, Elaine Thomson, start a fundraiser.

Aesthetica told Blaze News exclusively that Police Scotland "confirmed to the family" that "Fatos Ali Dumana and his sister were the two people charged."

Police Scotland said they had "nothing further to add" when asked by Blaze News for the names, ages, and/or nationalities of the two adults who were charged. They also neither confirmed nor denied if Dumana was the man who was charged.

Blaze News also reached out to Dumana for comment about the alleged charges and the claims made by Aesthetica, but did not receive a reply.

Image provided to Blaze News by 'Aesthetica' on X

Reporter Aesthetica provided an alleged hospital document to Blaze News, purported to be from Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, Scotland. The document is an attempt to prove that Ruby sought medical aid from injuries stemming from the altercation.

The document is addressed to a person with the alleged last name of Ruby and Lola. It shows treatment was provided for a "diagnosis" of a "head injury — concussion."

The photo also shows the examination was done to a "female, accompanied by mum," with a head injury again listed. The document said the patient attended the emergency room at 8:11 p.m. on August 23, 2025. This would be approximately 31 minutes following the incident described by police. The patient was discharged at 9:44 p.m.

"The hospital document was sent to Elaine Thomson, Lola and Ruby's mother, which was sent to [Mayah's mother], who sent it to me," Aesthetica explained to Blaze News.

The family has declined to speak publicly, out of fear of public backlash and for their own safety, according to Aesthetica. However, the reporter told Blaze News that the family is "relieved that their names have finally been cleared."

He added, "They are thankful that everyone now knows the truth and that they've been telling the truth the entire time."

The fundraiser has garnered approximately $120,000 at the time of this writing.

Musk asks: 'Why are they allowing the rape of Europe?' — then vows to do something about it in the UK

The Paris Public Prosecutor's Office told Le Parisien that early Tuesday morning, a Libyan teen allegedly raped a Ukrainian woman in front of the Eiffel Tower.

A 17-year-old Dutch girl was hunted down, then butchered as she tried calling the police last week near Amsterdam. The girl's suspected killer is a 22-year-old asylum-seeker who was arrested at a migrant center on Friday for an unrelated Aug. 15 rape and is believed to have also sexually assaulted another woman.

Earlier this month, Pakistani asylum-seeker Kamran Khan, 43, appeared in a British court, where he denied having repeatedly raped an 8-year-old girl between September 2024 and July 2025.

Confronted with these stories and other insights into the fallout of mass migration into Europe and the failed assimilation of migrant populations, Tesla CEO Elon Musk — who has long criticized British and European officials for failing to adequately prevent or address the rape of their girls and women by migrant men — posed the question on Monday, "Why are they allowing the rape of Europe?"

On the continent

Migrants helped drive the spike of rapes across Europe, cases of which European Union data indicates increased by 141% between 2013 and 2023.

A Lund University study published earlier this year in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence found that migrants or second-generation migrants accounted for 63% of convictions for rape or attempted rape in Sweden — a nation of 10.5 million that the Telegraph noted opened its doors to roughly 160,000 asylum seekers in 2015 alone.

Marie-Thérèse Kaiser, an Alternative for Germany politician, was convicted of a hate crime last year for pointing out that in her homeland — which opened its doors to over 670,000 refugees and 680,000 non-refugee immigrants between 2010 and 2016 — Afghan and African asylum-seekers "are proportionally 40x and 70x more involved in gang rapes than Germans," citing government statistics.

Of the suspects identified in the rape and sexual assault cases in Germany last year, Deutsche Welle reported that over a third were foreigners.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni acknowledged in a 2024 interview that in her nation, "there is a higher incidence, unfortunately, in cases of sexual violence, by immigrants, especially illegal ones."

In the isles

In the case of Britain, which has similarly imported a rape crisis, Musk appears ready to fund the legal backlash.

"I would like to help fund legal actions against corrupt officials who aided and abetted the rape of Britain, per the official government inquiry," Musk wrote on Tuesday.

Thousands of British girls were systematically raped, tortured, and trafficked by Pakistani grooming gangs from the late 1980s well into the new millennium.

Authorities long failed to help the victims and hold the pedophilic rapists accountable in part because of "nervousness about race."

Earlier this year, British Member of Parliament Rupert Lowe, formerly of the Reform U.K. Party and now the leader of Restore Britain, launched a crowdfunded independent inquiry into the grooming gangs and into the government officials who failed to act.

'The government simply needs to enforce the law.'

On Tuesday, Lowe's team of inquisitors revealed that they have "identified eighty-five local authorities in which the gang-based sexual exploitation of children is taking place, or has historically done so" and noted that "patterns of targeted exploitation by predominantly Pakistani males, combined with gross negligence from public bodies, are identifiable."

Lowe's team further indicated that "ongoing cases have been referred to relevant authorities, and the Rape Gang Inquiry will shortly be writing to all local authorities where these heinous crimes have been identified to request full transparency and cooperation."

— (@)

Among the areas highlighted on the map shared to X by Lowe that indicates where the grooming gangs were allegedly active was the county of West Yorkshire, where police responding to a freedom of information request recently revealed that over 21% of suspects arrested for sexual offenses last year were foreign nationals. Pakistani nationals accounted for a plurality of the arrestees.

"Existing law is clear that anyone who was an accessory to aggravated rape or murder, especially of children, is guilty of serious crime and must either serve time in prison if a citizen or be deported if not," wrote Musk. "The government simply needs to enforce the law."

Lowe noted, "Elon deserves huge credit for what he has done to uncover this scandal."

ICE accuses Democratic congressman of joining 'violent mob,' doxxing agent

Federal law enforcement officers executed immigration raids on Thursday at a pair of state-licensed marijuana facilities operated in Camarillo and Carpinteria, California, by Glass House Farms — a company run by a donor both to Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom and to Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-Calif.).

Among the 361 illegal aliens arrested at the two sites were a number of dangerous criminal noncitizens, including Roman Izquierdo, a Mexican convicted of kidnapping, attempted rape, and attempted child molestation; Juan Duarte-Valasquez, a Mexican convicted of rape and DUI; and Jose Orellana, an illegal alien from El Salvador convicted of DUI and a hit-and-run with property damage.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, agents rescued at least 14 migrant children during the raids from "potential exploitation, forced labor, and human trafficking."

While saving children and capturing foreign rapists, federal agents were savagely attacked by a mob of radicals who learned of the raids and apparently sought to obstruct the immigration enforcement actions. Among those who came out in opposition of law enforcement was Carbajal.

In addition to faulting Carbajal for apparently joining the ranks of the rioters, the DHS has accused the Democratic congressman of doxxing an ICE employee who was later injured by the mob.

"During the enforcement operation in Carpinteria, California, Rep. Carbajal spoke to an ICE Public Affairs Specialist, who gave the congressman his business card," the DHS said in a statement. "The congressman then showed the ICE employee's business card to the mob, making a target out of him. The employee was subsequently attacked, with lacerations to his left hand due to a rock being thrown at him. The employee had to go to the emergency room and get stitches for his injury."

Department of Homeland Security

Carbajal later characterized the riot at the marijuana facility — which prompted the use of tear gas and smoke bombs by federal authorities — as "peaceful" protests and claimed that the federal agents attacked by the mob "were creating fear, anxiety, and intimidation" and "an untenable incendiary circumstance where they could have got members of the public and themselves hurt."

— (@)

In an interview with the Santa Barbara Independent, Carbajal once again named the ICE agent he spoke to, admitted to repeatedly trying to break through the ICE perimeter, and accused ICE of "violating the rights of U.S. citizens," adding, "If you're brown, you're going to have your civil rights violated."

'No one is above the law, and members of Congress are no exception.'

Carbajal stressed that "we need people to protest."

ICE blasted the Democratic congressman for downplaying the violence of the rioters and painting federal officers as villains, stating, "THIS is precisely the rhetoric that has led to orchestrated attempts to murder officers and a 700% increase in officer assaults."

"May the congressman's constituency always remember he chooses violence over the rule of law," added ICE.

"The actions by Representative Carbajal are downright un-American," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. "He dares to claim that his actions were simply congressional oversight, but doxxing ICE personnel and inciting a mob of rioters to attack law enforcement is NOT oversight — it's abominable."

Carbajal stated on Monday, "ICE's claims of 'doxxing' and 'violent mobs' are attempts to deflect attention from their unjust tactics, distort the facts to support misleading narratives, and avoid accountability for their aggressive actions that caused injuries and left our community traumatized."

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche indicated that the Department of Justice takes all allegations of inciting violence and doxxing of federal employees seriously, underscoring that "no one is above the law, and members of Congress are no exception."

"We are reviewing reports from the protest," said Blanche. "If substantiated, we will pursue every appropriate legal avenue to protect our law enforcement officers and uphold the rule of law."

Blaze News has reached out to the DHS and to Carbajal for additional comment.

America’s Migrant Crisis Summed Up In One Preventable Tragedy

The damage wrought by Biden will take years to rectify

Obama judge prevents Trump admin from eliminating 'flawed' Biden migrant parole program

A Massachusetts-based Obama judge blocked the Department of Homeland Security from ending the Biden administration's CHNV parole programs, which allowed multitudes of otherwise inadmissible migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to flood into the country.

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani also certified a class of all those foreign nationals who received a grant of parole affected by the DHS' termination of the program.

Talwani, a daughter of immigrants from India and Germany, claimed that the Trump administration "offered no substantial reason or public interest that justifies forcing individuals who were granted parole in the United States for a specific duration to leave (or move into undocumented status) in advance of the original date their parole was set to expire."

"Nor is it in the public interest to summarily declare that hundreds of thousands of individuals are no longer considered lawfully present in the country," continued Talwani. "The early termination, without any case-by-case justification, of legal status for noncitizens who have complied with DHS programs and entered the country lawfully undermines the rule of law."

Ironically, the Biden administration appears to have played fast and loose with the law when admitting migrants into the country under the CHNV parole program.

Background

The House Judiciary Committee noted in a November report, "Through CHNV, each month up to 30,000 aliens, who otherwise have no basis to enter the country and who have 'a supporter' in the United States, can bypass the U.S. border and fly directly into the country 'on commercial flights' to be 'granted parole' for a period of two years by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security."

While federal law requires that the DHS secretary use his parole authority on a "case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit," former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas apparently figured it better to permit inadmissible aliens en masse — the consequences of which were felt across the country but especially in Springfield, Ohio, which was overwhelmed by Haitian nationals.

'This fundamentally flawed program must be permanently dismantled.'

According to the report, over 531,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans had entered the country via the program as of September 2024.

Congressional investigators noted that in addition to the issue of the Biden administration flouting federal law, the program was "plagued by so much fraud that DHS itself was forced to pause the program in July 2024."

Blaze News previously reported that an internal probe found that over 100,000 applicants were backed by approximately 3,000 serial sponsors.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), among the many Republican lawmakers who criticized the program, said in a Sept. 10 letter to Mayorkas, "This fundamentally flawed program must be permanently dismantled. The program has not only facilitated widespread fraud, but has also exposed serious vulnerabilities in our immigration system, leading to dire consequences for public safety."

Despite its awareness that foreign nationals were recycling Social Security numbers, addresses, and phone numbers in their applications, the Biden administration resumed the program the following month.

Eliminating the program

On his first day back in office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to "terminate all categorical parole programs that are contrary to the policies of the United States established in my Executive Orders, including the program known as the 'Processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans.'"

The Department of Homeland Security followed through, announcing last month in the Federal Register that it was terminating the CHNV parole programs on March 25.

'The [DHS] Secretary's discretion in this area is broad.'

Foreign nationals whose temporary parole period in the U.S. under the program had not already expired were notified that their paroles would terminate on April 24 "unless the Secretary makes an individual determination to the contrary."

The DHS noted further that parolees without a lawful basis to remain in the country had to leave the U.S. before their parole termination date. Those who remained unlawfully would be deported.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt noted, "These are the 530,000 illegal immigrants that Joe Biden flew to the United States on the taxpayers [sic] dime. They're welcome to self-deport using the newly repurposed CBP Home App!"

Lawsuit

Justice Action Center, Human Rights First, and Haitian Bridge Alliance sued on behalf of foreign nationals to prevent the Trump administration from ending the previous administration's parole processes. They found a fellow activist in Talwani.

The Obama judge acknowledged that her "role in reviewing agency action in this area is limited" and that "the [DHS] Secretary's discretion in this area is broad" but nevertheless made clear she would meddle anyway.

Talwani said that the migrants have standing to challenge the shortening of their grant of parole, noting that if their "parole status is allowed to lapse, Plaintiffs will be faced with two unfavorable options: continue following the law and leave the country on their own, or await removal proceedings."

The judge suggested that both options were undesirable.

Talwani noted that if required to depart the U.S., then migrants might undergo family separation, forfeit opportunities to obtain a remedy for their Administrative Procedure Act claims, and face dangers back in their respective homelands. If they remain in the country illegally, then they will lose their legal work authorization and possibly face arrest, wrote the judge.

To spare foreign nationals from an election-backed reversal of Democratic policy, Talwani ruled to temporarily preserve the legal status of CHNV migrants and block the DHS' enforcement on April 24.

"Hundreds of thousands of our neighbors will go to sleep tonight knowing that the Trump administration's attempts to delegitimize and criminalize our communities have been thwarted, for now," Guerline Jozef, founder of Haitian Bridge Alliance, said in a statement.

"The court rightly recognized the harm the government's arbitrary decision-making was threatening in the lives of innocent people," said Anwen Hughes, a legal strategist at Human Rights First.
