'An all-time backfire': UFC's Daniel Cormier says Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is a 'lose-lose' that might go horribly wrong

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier says there is no outcome from Jake Paul's fight against Mike Tyson where Paul will be seen as the winner.

The former two-division UFC champion spoke to fellow UFC alumnus Ben Askren on the "Funky and the Champ" podcast about the upcoming Paul vs. Tyson fight, where the two athletes — who are nearly 30 years apart in age — will box on a Netflix sports special.

Cormier commented on remarks made by fellow UFC commentator Joe Rogan, who said that Tyson could still knock Paul's "head into another dimension" even at his age.

'I think it’s a lose-lose for Jake Paul, because if you beat up Mike Tyson, everybody loves Mike Tyson.'

"58-year-old Mike Tyson is not 50-year-old Mike Jones that lives down the street. It's a different kind of human being, he can still knock your head into another dimension if he can catch you," Rogan said.

Cormier agreed that when he watches Tyson hitting pads, "It looks like there's still something left in there."

"But then I watch Jake Paul fight Mike Perry. I watch Jake Paul get pressed to where he starts to feel uncomfortable, and it looked like Mike Perry had a chance. But then Jake has a reserve tank to go to and get and draw from because he's 28 years old."

Cormier mentioned he was concerned that at 58 years old, Tyson might not have enough reserved energy to draw from to compete with Paul if the fight goes longer than a couple rounds.

"That is my concern. Because what if this looks like a 58-year-old man, fighting a 28-year-old man, where Mike can’t draw [reserve energy]?" Cormier asked.

The former fighter went on to say that no matter what happens, Paul will be seen as a loser after the fight due to Tyson's age and the reverence audiences have for him.

"I think it’s a lose-lose for Jake Paul, because if you beat up Mike Tyson, everybody loves Mike Tyson ... Mike Tyson actually doesn't need the money," Cormier continued. "It's surprising to me that he's fighting ... what if Mike knocks him out though? Then it's over. Everything's done. It would be an all-time backfire. Nothing's ever been done like that in the history of the sport if he gets knocked out."

The November 15, 2024, bout was already pushed back from a July date over health complications on the part of Tyson that caused a flight delay.

"He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing," one of Tyson's representatives said at the time. "He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him."

Tyson has answered questions about his age numerous times leading up to the fight, stating that it isn't a hinderance on top of the fact that he is the only athlete of his age that could create such anticipation.

"I'm 58 and what? I'm getting billions of views from just talking to somebody about fighting," Tyson said on Fox News. "Everybody, even most of the athletes, they're jealous, that's wack. ... I say 'in your prime you couldn't draw a million people, man. What are you talking about, you couldn't sell out [an] arena.' Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat arena?"

WATCH: Mike Tyson gives Bill Maher his surprising take on trans athletes — 'Who are we to talk?'

A couple of years ago, Bill Maher stepped into the "Hotboxin'" studio with Mike Tyson and co-host Sebastian Joseph-Day to discuss a number of political issues, including trans athletes.

As one of the world’s most renowned athletes, Tyson had some surprising words about the notion of men competing in women’s sport divisions.

- YouTubewww.youtube.com

Maher began by stating that his opposition to trans athletes (biological men) competing in women’s sports is rooted in “what the women are saying.”

They’re “saying, ‘it’s not fair to us,”’ Maher told Tyson and Joseph-Day.

“That’s not true,” Tyson said, pointing to trans tennis player Renée Richards, who “used to get beat all the time.”

“She didn’t win no championships or anything,” he argued.

“No, of course, it doesn’t happen all the time, but, I mean, the big case now is this Lia Thomas,” Maher countered, suggesting “a trans category” as the solution.

“So listen, they allowed [trans women athletes] to participate. Who are we to talk?” Tyson said in response.

“Mike, can you imagine going into the ring against a woman with you in your prime or even now? ... It would be a bloodbath,” Maher said.

Mike Tyson suffers medical emergency on airplane in Miami  just weeks ahead of Jake Paul fight

Mike Tyson had an apparent medical emergency while on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, eyewitness accounts explained. The emergency came just seven weeks before his Netflix boxing match.

The flight had already reportedly been delayed by two hours because the plane was too hot as a result of the weather in Miami. Tyson was witnessed being escorted on and off the flight before it was set to take off.

The boxing legend was seen in American Airlines' Admirals Club before he boarded, which reportedly garnered a lot of fanfare in the area.

"There was a lot of buzz when he left the Admirals Club and got to the gate. A lot of fans recognized him, and a few people got pictures," a witness told In Touch Weekly. "He was very accommodating, and then he was escorted away from the gate because the flight was delayed because the gate person said that the plane was too hot because it had been sitting all day and had to cool down."

Fast-forward to 30 minutes before the flight landed in Los Angeles, and flight personnel made an announcement asking if any medical technicians or doctors were aboard the plane.

'It's false reporting that his medical attention caused the flight delay.'

"The flight issued an announcement asking for a doctor — the message even came on everyone's screens," the witness explained.

Upon landing, the witness said that Tyson "had some kind of medical emergency on the plane and paramedics boarded."

This caused a 25-minute delay as paramedics attended to Tyson in first class.

Following the incident, a representative for the former heavyweight champion said that "thankfully," Tyson was "doing great."

The issue was apparently an ulcer of Tyson's that had flared up.

"He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing," the representative said. "He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him."

The spokesperson also cleared up any previous reporting that Tyson had delayed the flight's takeoff.

"It's false reporting that his medical attention caused the flight delay," he added, per ESPN. "This two-hour delay was due to an air conditioning issue on the aircraft."

Following the reports, Tyson took to his X account to declare that he was feeling better and then took a shot at opponent Jake Paul.

"Now feeling 100% even though I don't need to be to beat Jake Paul."

Tyson has remained confident ahead of his July 20, 2024, fight with Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The boxer has given fiery responses about his ability to draw fans and took shots at naysayers in an April interview.

"I'm 58 and what? I'm getting billions of views from just talking to somebody about fighting," he stated. "Everybody, even most of the athletes, they're jealous, that's whack. ... I say 'in your prime you couldn't draw a million people, man. What are you talking about, you couldn't sell out [an] arena.' Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat arena?" Tyson said.

'I’m being so serious': Jake Paul declares he will fight in MMA after Mike Tyson boxing match

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://www.theblaze.com/media-library/im-being-so-serious-jake-paul-declares-he-will-fight-in-mma-after-mike-tyson-boxing-match.jpg?id=52046624&width=1024&height=550&coordinates=0,37,0,96 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//www.theblaze.com/media-library/im-being-so-serious-jake-paul-declares-he-will-fight-in-mma-after-mike-tyson-boxing-match.jpg%3Fid%3D52046624%26width%3D1024%26height%3D550%26coordinates%3D0%2C37%2C0%2C96%22%7D" expand=1]

YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul announced his intention to have a mixed martial arts fight following his boxing match against Mike Tyson.

After his fight with the boxing legend, Paul said on his "Problem Child" podcast that he is "so serious" about fighting UFC fan favorites Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz in MMA.

Paul and Tyson will box on June 20, 2024, while Masvidal and Diaz will box weeks before on June 1, 2024. Following those fights, Paul said he would like to take six months to train for a fight against either in the Professional Fighters League, a mixed martial arts organization to which Paul is signed.

"I'm being so serious when I say that I want to fight them in MMA," Paul said on his podcast. "$10 million offer," he continued.

The 9-1 fighter said that both UFC fighters have hidden behind the idea that he isn't a good boxer and therefore would be even worse in a cage.

"All of these guys hide behind these crazy things," he went on while naming other UFC fighters like Paddy Pimblett and Sean Strickland. "None of them have shown up to the table to talk any business about anything to make anything actually happen in a real fight or a real spar, whatever it is."

After a cohost asked for a realistic timeline on an MMA fight, Paul said "obviously" he has Mike Tyson first but to just "do it after that."

"I would do like a six month camp," he added.

"You've got to learn some kicks, my man," his brother Logan Paul, a professional wrestler, mocked.

Masvidal and Diaz have not expressed a lot of desire to fight Paul in an MMA cage. Diaz has fought Paul in boxing and has expressed some interest in a potential MMA bout, but he has shut down fighting in the PFL, which he rightfully called a smaller organization with less of a reputation.

"I'm good — I'd rather fight real fighters. And never back track to the minor leagues," Diaz said in November 2023.

Masvidal explained that since he is still under contract with the UFC, the organization's top executives were not interested in making Paul any type of money or increasing his brand. In fact, the Cuban fighter revealed that UFC President Dana White had even sponsored Tyson's camp for their boxing match.

"Under no circumstances" would the UFC allow a "top draw" to go to PFL and make it money, Masvidal claimed.

When asked about Paul during a press conference ahead of their boxing match, both Diaz and Masvidal responded by saying, "F**k Jake Paul," with Masvidal adding, "There are real fighters over here."

A six-month camp would cast strong doubt on Paul's MMA debut taking place in 2024, which was long anticipated by fans. The timeline would be limited to an end-of-year event, which isn't out of the question. Many MMA promotions often save big events for mid-December, with the UFC typically taking a month break after the end of the year through mid-January.

PFL executive Donn Davis has already stated that Paul's debut has taken longer than expected, as he appeared to be prioritizing boxing for 90% of his training.

Professional MMA fighter T.J. Laramie, who fought in the UFC in 2022, told Blaze News that he was also skeptical of Paul entering a cage in 2024.

"I highly doubt he will make his way to the PFL this year," Laramie said. "If he loses the boxing match, it could be a different story, and it would make more sense to try his luck in an MMA cage," the featherweight added.

Boxing legend Mike Tyson is turning up the heat on critics ahead of his fight with infamous boxing phenom Jake Paul.

Tyson and Paul will participate in Netflix's first live boxing event on July 20, 2024, with the pair taking criticism for their age difference. Tyson is 58 while Paul is 27, leaving critics to question why the fight is even taking place.

In response, "Iron Mike" has sounded like his younger, ferocious self as rumors have circulated online about the possibility of the combatants using headgear and bigger gloves.

"Not true," Tyson told Fox News' Sean Hannity. "This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition you will not see any of those. ... This is a fight."

Tyson also gave fiery responses about his ability to draw fans and took shots at naysayers in an interview with Reuters.

"I'm 58 and what? I'm getting billions of views from just talking to somebody about fighting," he stated. "Everybody, even most of the athletes, they're jealous, that's wack. ... I say 'in your prime you couldn't draw a million people, man. What are you talking about, you couldn't sell out [an] arena.' Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat arena?"

The boxer was referring to the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where the fight will take place.

"Everybody wants to fight him; all the boxers want to fight him," Tyson said of his opponent. "But if he fought them, the only people that will come are the people that like him. The other guys, their parents might not even come watch them. That's just keeping it real. They're too boring for their children to watch; it's like watching grass grow," he told the news outlet.

'In reality I'm invincible.'

Tyson's fervent comments about the fight have only multiplied in recent interviews, as he increasingly has seemed to shift his mindset. In 2019, Tyson told Joe Rogan that even working out could "reactivate" his old ego. The former heavyweight champion described that any recognition of "greatness" in himself would make him yearn for competition.

This became apparent in his interview with Hannity.

"I don't think he's faster than me," the 58-year-old said of Paul. "I train every day. I take it seriously. The process goes through the whole day, I go to the gym and go to the strength and conditioning guy, and I start all over again."

When asked what his motivation to fight was, Tyson explained that it was about fear and glory and never about money.

"You know, Sean, I have a weird personality, but I don't think it's weird, though. Whatever I'm afraid to do, I do it, and that's how it is. I was a hundred pounds overweight and I was 53 years old, and I said 'let's do it,'" Tyson said about his last fight. "Anything I'm afraid of, I confront. Nuts, my personality."

"Right now I'm scared to death, but as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become, because it's reality, and in reality I'm invincible," he declared.

'Hotboxin''

The fighter predicted that he would be "irritable and nasty" leading into his fight with Paul but admitted he didn't have any ill will toward the younger man.

"I don't dislike him, and I don't have no grudges against him, and it's not from that perspective. But this is from my point of view of grabbing glory. Never for money, only glory, and I would never risk my health for money."

Tyson told Hannity he would forgo smoking marijuana ahead of the fight, which he typically has admitted makes him a more calm and rational person. The fighter even sells marijuana products and had a podcast called "Hotboxin'."

However, since the fight's announcement Tyson has told fans that he has closed the chapter on the podcasting portion of his life.

'We're gonna educate the world, baby!' Mike Tyson opens school focused on financial literacy and community engagement

Mike Tyson will lend his likeness to the name of a new "micro-school" aimed at providing a more comprehensive education for middle school and high school students that focuses on innovation, financial literacy, and more.

The Tyson Transformational Technologies Academy is a new institution set up in Arizona to serve grades 6 to 12. All tuition costs will be covered through Empowerment Scholarship Accounts, along with internal school scholarships, the new school said in a press release.

Arizona first established ESAs in 2011 to allow students with disabilities to attend different educational institutions outside of public or charter schools. A qualified student's parents receive state tax funds in exchange for agreeing that they will be used on approved expenses for education while not enrolling the student in a school district or charter school and not accepting any other tuition or scholarships.

Tyson's new academy said that it hopes to "redefine learning" by teaching kids about innovation, financial literacy, mentorship, and community engagement.

To open the school, Tyson teamed up with Daniel Puder, a former professional athlete. Puder won the WWE's "Tough Enough" competition in 2004-2005; a million-dollar contest the wrestling organization conducted to find the next big wrestling star. Puder also had a short, but successful, six-year run in mixed martial arts, finishing in 2009 with a 6-0 record.

Puder told TMZ that he and Tyson found each other through mutual friends to come together on the project through the Foundation Academies School System, which Puder is the president of.

"You put me on TMZ and in the first eight weeks we had over 10,000 emails from 12 countries of kids that were being bullied. Now we have investors, we have family offices, we have over 1,300 kids, we've graduated over a thousand, we have 11 campuses... but I need the biggest brands in the world," Puder told TMZ's Harvey Levin.

Puder added that Tyson is "the biggest brand there is."

"I've been called worse," Tyson jokingly interjected.

"Who doesn't want to go to Mike Tyson's Academy? When you see that on a resume going to college people are gonna be like, 'Say what?'"

"As a society, we get to build our youths for the next generation. We are so blessed to have Mike Tyson part of our school system. He inspires our students," Puder also said in a statement.

The former heavyweight champion added that it was important to him to be able to share his life experience with the next generation.

"This new educational institution will build core values that I am honored and grateful to be part of [in] the Arizona community. I was thrilled to be part of the ribbon cutting ceremony and meeting some of the students," Tyson stated.

Tyson provided his name and likeness to the school without compensation.

Trump Turns To Mike Tyson, Barstool Sports In Alternative Media Strategy For 2024

The campaign's strategy seeks to reach conservative voters through non-political media channels

Mike Tyson will not face criminal charges for reports that he pummeled a fellow airline passenger

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will not face criminal charges following reports that he pummeled a fellow airline passenger, CNN has reported.

Tyson was reportedly captured on camera hitting plane passenger Melvin George Townsend III after Townsend was accused of harassing Tyson before takeoff.

What are the details?

San Mateo County, California, District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe told the outlet that he did not file any misdemeanor battery charges against Tyson "based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation" including the "conduct of the alleged victim."

"It is simply a case that does not belong in the criminal court," Wagstaffe told the outlet. "If they want to sue each other, that's their business."

He added that both parties requested no charges be filed in the case.

Video showed a man identified as Tyson bending over and repeatedly striking a man identified as Townsend while the plane sat on the tarmac at San Francisco International Airport awaiting takeoff.

At the time, a spokesperson for Tyson said that Townsend was an "aggressive passenger who began harassing [Tyson] and threw a water bottle at him" shortly after boarding.

Townsend, who was previously described as an overexcited fan, denied throwing a water bottle at Tyson.

A spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Department confirmed the incident in a statement.

"On Wednesday April 20, 2022, at approximately 10:06 p.m., San Francisco Police officers assigned to the SFPD Airport Bureau were dispatched to a physical altercation onboard an airplane located at the Domestic Terminal of the San Francisco International Airport," a statement from the department read. "Officers arrived and detained two subjects that were believed to be involved in the incident. One subject was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries. That subject provided minimal details of the incident and refused to cooperate further with the police investigation. Both subjects were released under 849(b) of the California Penal Code pending further investigation."

RED FLAG: Guys who watch CNN are not husband material

Relationships between men and women have been on a sharp decline. Historically, men were the alpha in a relationship, and many women preferred it. But feminism has damaged men and women to the point that dating has become unbearable.

Men are inclined to lead, be the decision-maker, the alpha, and it is that dominant behavior that fuels men to reach their full potential. Women have weaponized feminism and, most cruelly, robbed men of opportunities to be the alpha in relationships which is very damaging to a man's psyche.

This vicious cycle played out for the first lady of "Fearless," author Shemeka Michelle. On Thursday's episode of "Fearless with Jason Whitlock," Shemeka joined the show to ask Uncle Jimmy for some dating advice.
Shemeka said that a couple of weeks ago, a friend convinced her to go on a date, which she doesn't usually do. She observed that men today are very feminized in how they approach women.

Shemeka said that if she had the chance to chat with the guy beforehand, she would have known everything she needed to know about him in less than 20 minutes.

He believed the American dream was dead. CNN is his favorite channel to watch, and women should do as they please and be free and never have to consult with their partner because they are "women."

Jimmy and Jason listened to Shemeka lay out the steps the man didn't take and explained why it was frustrating.
