Thug picks wrong victim to allegedly point weapon at, chase — and the tables painfully turn on him

Deputies from the Oneida County Sheriff's Office in upstate New York responded to a reported physical altercation involving a weapon in Vernon on Monday evening, officials said. Vernon is about 40 minutes east of Syracuse.

It was reported that an individual in the 3300 block of Simmons Road was acting erratically and pointed what was believed to be a handgun at two victims, officials said.

'That didn't work out so well for him apparently.'

The two victims tried to retreat into a nearby residence, but the suspect advanced toward them with the weapon, officials said.

A fight then broke out between the suspect and one of the victims, officials said, and the victim managed to get the weapon away from the suspect.

Arriving deputies took the suspect into custody without issue, officials said.

The suspect was identified as Glenn A. Wallis, 40, of Vernon, officials said, adding that Wallis was taken to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building.

Wallis was charged with two counts of menacing in the second degree — a class A misdemeanor — along with one count of harassment in the second degree, which officials defined as a "violation."

However, officials said a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit also charged Wallis with one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, which is a class D felony.

According to WUTR-TV, the weapon that Wallis was brandishing was a pistol-style pellet gun.

Wallis was then taken to and held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility to await a hearing that was scheduled for Tuesday, officials said.

Wallis was still behind bars Wednesday morning, according to the jail record Blaze News reviewed. The jail record also indicates that Wallis' criminal possession of a weapon charge is a "previous conviction."

Comments under WUTR's story about the incident on Yahoo News were none too kind to the arrestee:

  • "He appears to have brought a toy gun to an old-fashion[ed] beat down," one commenter said.
  • "Normal behavior for those a little further down the evolutionary ladder," another commenter wrote.
  • "A pellet gun? He should thank the Good Lord it didn't happen in some areas of Texas! He also looks VERY good for the circumstances, 'cause those two victims had mercy on him. There are folks who would've beat him TWICE as hard because it was a pellet gun!" another commenter stated.
  • "That didn't work out so well for him apparently," another commenter said.
  • "This is what FAFO looks like!" another commenter declared.

Motorist hilariously resorts to 'arts and crafts' for inspection, registration — but the jig is up

New York State Police said a trooper was conducting a traffic stop Thursday night for switched plates — and then "noticed something unusual."

Turns out the vehicle’s inspection and registration documents on the windshield "were not official at all," police said.

'Okay, but how did the trooper manage to not laugh at this when seeing it up close????'

"In fact they appeared to be hand drawn using a mix of pen, marker, and crayon with an impressive amount of confidence," police added.

Gregory Cawley, 50, of Lafayette was ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without inspection, operating an unregistered vehicle, improper plates, and other citations, the New York Post reported, citing a police spokeswoman.

Police also said the vehicle was taken off the road.

"As a friendly reminder," police added, "arts and crafts supplies do not count as valid documentation."

The New York State Police's Facebook post about the motorist's faux pas has hit a bit of a viral nerve, receiving 34,000 likes and laughs and well over 3,000 comments to date. The following are a few of the written reactions:

  • "What’s hilarious is this car has certainly passed MANY officers hiding, and none of them were smart enough to see this," one commenter observed. "They’re trained to see these things."
  • "And he would have gotten home if it wasn't for that meddling cop," another user said before adding, "(Scooby Doo joke, be nice)."
  • "On an old car, my '10 day' inspection paper was in my window so long all the ink faded, and it was a blank piece of paper," another commenter shared. "I rocked that for over 3 years, never got a ticket for it unless I was stopped for something else."
  • "I remember seeing an inspection sticker hand-drawn on a co-worker's car years ago, and when I asked about it, it had been over 10 years since that person had an actual inspection," another user recalled. "Crazy! He had never been caught, either!"
  • "Okay, but how did the trooper manage to not laugh at this when seeing it up close????" another commenter wondered.
  • "I know a person [who] colored a piece of cardboard blue, did the lines down, the months, and everything — and punched out a hole," another user wrote. "Pretty sure she got away with it for a while."

Dad-to-be made chilling revelation about car crash that put him in coma before dying — now his girlfriend has been charged

A father-to-be reportedly slipped into a coma after being involved in a car accident while his girlfriend was driving on Super Bowl Sunday earlier this year.

But he eventually woke up from the coma just long enough before his death to give a chilling revelation to law enforcement about his girlfriend and the car crash, according to multiple reports.

'I don't care what happens, you'll get what you deserve.'

Daniel Waterman, 22, was involved in a car crash on Interstate 95 in Flagler County on Feb. 9, Law & Crime reported, citing the warrant arrest affidavit. Waterman was in the car with his girlfriend — 24-year-old Leigha Mumby — who reportedly was driving a 2019 Honda Passport.

The car collided with a tree, police said, adding that no other vehicles were involved.

Mumby sustained serious injuries, according to police.

But Waterman suffered severe, life-threatening injuries, including a "C6-7 fracture, cervical spine injury, clavicle fracture, femur fracture, hip dislocation, epidural hematoma, pneumothorax with pulmonary contusion, zygomatic and temporal contusion, [and a] talus fracture," according to the affidavit.

Waterman fell into a coma — but recovered enough to communicate with investigators on May 15.

Syracuse.com, citing Waterman's mother, reported that he could barely speak, so police pointed to letters on a board while Waterman made sounds to indicate which letters he wanted to use.

The outlet reported that during the 90-minute interview with police, Waterman revealed that the car crash was not an accident.

While driving down the interstate, Waterman and Mumby got into an argument about a text message he received from a female friend in New York — and the fact that Leigha found out that day she was pregnant, according to the affidavit.

Waterman told the investigator who interviewed him that he and Mumby "exchanged expletives" and "Leigha began driving recklessly."

Waterman's mother, Heather Waterman, told Syracuse.com that her son was sending text messages to a friend about the Super Bowl the night of the crash because Waterman was a Kansas City Chiefs fan, and the friend was a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Waterman's cousin, Jessica Stappenbeck, told FlaglerLive.com that just minutes before the crash, Mumby texted her the following from Waterman's phone: "This is what he gets for being a liar and a cheater."

Stappenbeck said Waterman told her on the day of the crash that he didn't know what to do about the pregnancy and that he "didn't like how Leigha was handling the situation."

Stappenbeck said Waterman and Mumby watched the Super Bowl at her home, but the couple left before the end of the game.

According to the arrest affidavit, the last thing Waterman remembered before the crash was Mumby telling him, "I don't care what happens, you'll get what you deserve."

The affidavit said the vehicle "swerved off the roadway, colliding with a tree, making Daniel incapacitated."

An officer stated in the affidavit, "I have reason to believe Leigha made these statements and immediately swerved off the road to crash her car."

The arrest affidavit said the car's event data recorder found the vehicle was speeding between 93 and 95 miles per hour approximately three to five seconds before the crash.

"The brakes were not applied, ABS was inactive, and stability control was not engaged," the affidavit read.

The affidavit also noted that the vehicle was "aggressively maneuvering" about four seconds before the collision.

In July, Mumby was arrested on charges of reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to the affidavit.

Mumby was booked into the Flagler County Jail and subsequently released after posting a $150,000 bond.

Syracuse.com reported that Waterman died from pneumonia Oct. 8 at the Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, New York.

Following Waterman's death, prosecutors added vehicular homicide to Mumby's previous charges on Oct. 24, according to People magazine.

John Hager, an attorney for Waterman's family, told Fox News, "There are no real winners in this situation. It's a terrible, horrible situation, and the fact that these charges were filed, I think were right and just, and the family is satisfied with how the state attorney's office in Flagler County has been working diligently and is satisfied with the current charges being filed."

Hager told WTVT-TV, "This was not an accident. Evidence showed she didn’t use the brakes — the car was speeding up at the time of impact."

Hager added, "The family believes the new charge is appropriate and are relieved to see justice moving forward."

What's more, Waterman's death has ignited a paternity battle over Mumby's baby. Hager told WOFL-TV that Mumby recently gave birth to Waterman’s child.

Waterman's mother told Syracuse.com that her son took online parenting courses in August, and his dying wish was for his parents to get custody of the child.

"We'll do whatever we can do to bring her to us," the mother told Syracuse.com. "He wanted her raised in New York with his family." Hager told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that Waterman was visiting from New York at the time of the crash.

An obituary for Waterman posted to Syracuse.com said he "left this world on October 8th, far too soon following a tragic act of violence."

"Daniel passed away after courageously fighting for eight months from injuries sustained in a crash," the obituary added. "Daniel was an excited, soon-to-be father of a baby girl. He wanted nothing more than to come home to her and to the family who loved him so dearly."

Mumby is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 19.

The Florida Highway Patrol and the Flagler County Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to Blaze News' requests for comment.

SHOCK POLL: Republican leads NY Governor Hochul one year before the election

New York City voters may be on a different page than the rest of the state.

Despite Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani maintaining a significant advantage in the polls ahead of the NYC mayoral election, one Republican is looking to flip the state red next year.

For example, 60% of registered voters in New York ... either strongly support or somewhat support returning to the pre-2019 bail laws.

RealClearPolitics has Mamdani boasting a 15-point lead average across the last six polls in October. With around 46 points, Mamdani's lead has only widened since July.

In new numbers from the Manhattan Institute, the Democratic socialist and alleged communist maintains that lead over former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, a former Democrat now representing the Fight and Deliver Party.

Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa is third, 24 points behind Mamdani and nine points behind Cuomo.

At the same time, however, pollsters asked respondents how they would vote if the 2026 N.Y. gubernatorial election were held today.

Shockingly, Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik (N.Y.) held a slim margin over Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul. Stefanik's lead was just one point, 43% to 42%, while "someone else" had 9% support, and "not sure" was at 7%.

Stefanik's team responded to the news:

"In a heavily Democrat-leaning state, an independent poll that is heavily weighted toward registered Democrat voters shows Republican Elise Stefanik leading Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul in a head-to-head matchup," Stefanik's spokesperson Bernadette Breslin said in a press release.

Breslin said it was the first time in decades that any Republican candidate for governor of New York has polled ahead of a Democrat incumbent.

The remarks continued, "In a decision that she will come to regret, Kathy Hochul lives up to her title as the worst governor in America when she chose to bend the knee and put New Yorkers LAST by desperately endorsing the defund the police, tax-hiking, raging anti-Semite socialist Zohran Mamdani who will destroy New York."

Though rumors have swirled for months that Stefanik intends to run for governor, she has not formally announced her candidacy. Reports indicate that she will announce sometime after the November 4 election.

While Mamdani maintains a strong lead in the city, some of his progressive policy positions range from somewhat unpopular to widely unpopular in updated polling.

For example, 60% of registered voters in New York, including 49% of Democrats, either strongly support or somewhat support returning to the pre-2019 bail laws. This pertains to allowing individuals to be "released until trial rather than being held."

Mamdani has said he wants to reduce the jail population, specifically at Rikers Island.

One of Mamdani's biggest promises, free bus services, saw 58% of New York City respondents oppose the idea. This figure included 48% of Democrats. Meanwhile, 42% of Democrats agreed with the idea that eliminating fares would make public transit more affordable and efficient for working New Yorkers while reducing conflicts between riders and operators.

Other topics — like New York's gifted and talented programs, corporate taxation, and fare evasion — were covered in polling conducted with 600 likely voters in the NYC mayoral election and 300 registered voters across New York state between October 22 and 26. The poll was weighted to reflect the electorate.

Sinister sextortion scheme targeting 'potentially several hundred' victims is exposed — along with shocking suspect

A diabolical sextortion scheme targeting "potentially several hundred" victims has been exposed, according to law enforcement in New York.

The months-long investigation began in February and focused on the Fieldstone Middle School, which is located in the Haverstraw hamlet of Thiells — just a little over 10 miles north of the New Jersey border and about an hour north of Yonkers.

'Please encourage your children to come forward because there is certainly no shame in coming forward and bringing this to a trusted adult, so please let us know, let a trusted adult know.'

Law enforcement said several alleged victims came forward to report the appalling allegations to school administrators.

The Stony Point Police Department said in a statement, "The investigation was launched after victims at Fieldstone Middle School reported to their school resource officer and school administrators that they were being coerced online."

Police said "approximately six victims have come forward" but noted that investigators "have reason to believe there are potentially several hundred additional victims who may not yet have reported their experiences."

Police said the alleged victims — males under the age of 16 — communicated with someone online who claimed to be a female, according to the New York Post.

"They were requested for pictures, videos of themselves, to be sent, and then they were requested that if they didn't [send] more that the pictures and videos would be sent to their friend groups," Det. Andrew Kryger of the Stony Point Police Department told WABC-TV.

What's more, the news outlet reported that the "female" is actually a male who demanded payment in the form of gift cards for "typically less than $100."

The alleged suspect of the sinister sextortion scam was out of the country when authorities identified him, but he recently returned to the U.S. — to attend Fieldstone Middle School in the fall, WABC reported.

The suspect — who was not identified because he's underage — was charged with use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a child, and possessing a sexual performance by a child. All the charges are felonies.

"This case highlights both the serious dangers our children face online and the extraordinary bravery of students who came forward," the Stony Point Police Department stated. "This crime is extremely serious and involves the victimization of students within our community."

The Stony Point Police Department added that "police officials stress that sextortion is not only a local issue, but a global problem fueled by social media. Many parents may be unaware of the extent of these dangers. It is essential to create safe, judgment-free environments where children feel comfortable reporting concerns."

The Stony Point Police Department, the Haverstraw Police Department, and the North Rockland School District plan to host a forum to provide parents and students with "resources on sextortion awareness."

North Rockland Central School District Superintendent Kris Felicello advised parents, "Please encourage your children to come forward because there is certainly no shame in coming forward and bringing this to a trusted adult, so please let us know, let a trusted adult know."

Police are urging anyone with information on this case to contact Det. Kryger at 845-786-2422.

Male wielding 2 knives caught on police bodycam video jumping from window, running at cop, stabbing officer

Police in Amherst, New York, earlier this month responded to a 911 call for a domestic violence-related incident in the 4800 block of North Bailey Avenue, officials said. Amherst is about 20 minutes northeast of Buffalo.

Police on Thursday released bodycam video showing what happened after officers arrived at the residence in question around 5 p.m. July 12.

Bodycam video also shows the officers attending to the suspect's wounds and one of the officers bleeding from his left arm.

Video appears to show a male jumping out of a window from the rear of the house:

Video then shows the male running toward one of the officers armed with a knife in each hand, WIVB-TV reported.

Amherst Police Chief Scott Chamberlin told the station that the suspect was upon the officer "within two seconds."

Officer Vangelov was treated for stab wounds to his arm at the Erie County Medical Center, and Grant was taken to the same facility for gunshot wounds to his chest and arm, officials told WIVB in a separate story.

"My office conducted a thorough review of the officer-involved shooting," Erie County District Attorney Mike Keane said in a statement, according to the station. "We have determined that the actions of the police officers were justified. The members of the Amherst Police Department who fired the shots that resulted in injuries to the defendant have been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing."

Grant was charged Friday with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, and second-degree assault in connection with the incident, officials added to WIVB.

Grant allegedly was wanted for failure to appear in court on a pending domestic violence-related case before the incident unfolded, officials added to the station.

Grant was being held without bail, WIVB said, adding that the charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.

School district speaks out after now-former employee, 22, accused of sending nude photos of herself to 14-year-old boy

A New York state school district has spoken out after a now-former employee — a 22-year-old female — was accused of sending nude photos of herself to a 14-year-old boy.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office earlier this month said Anamaria Milazzo from the town of Elmira was arrested on charges of disseminating indecent material to minors in the second degree — a class E felony — and endangering the welfare of a child, which is a class A misdemeanor.

Milazzo was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Wellsburg Village Court at a later date, the sheriff's office said.

A school resource officer assigned to the Greater Southern Tier Board of Cooperative Educational Services received a complaint June 9 alleging Milazzo sent indecent material to a minor, the sheriff's office said.

The criminal investigations division of the sheriff’s office assisted with the investigation and learned that over a three-month period, Milazzo sent nude photographs of herself to a 14-year-old male, the sheriff's office said.

The Daily Voice said Milazzo was arrested June 16 and that she had worked as a teaching assistant since December 2024.

Milazzo was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Wellsburg Village Court at a later date, the sheriff's office said.

Susan Rider-Ulacco — chief assistant district attorney for the Chemung County District Attorney's Office — told Blaze News that Milazzo wasn't jailed, despite the felony charge against her, because of New York state's bail reform law.

The Greater Southern Tier BOCES noted in a statement provided to WETM-TV earlier this week that Milazzo was "put on leave as soon as we were first made aware of the allegations by law enforcement and has not been present at BOCES since that time. She has resigned and will not be returning to campus."

The district's statement added: "As this is an ongoing investigation by law enforcement, BOCES is unable to provide any further information at this time. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our students. If you believe you have relevant information relating to the investigation, please contact the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office directly."

The school district last week confirmed that Milazzo was a former employee at a BOCES facility in Chemung County, WETM said in a previous report, adding that officials couldn't comment on when her employment ended or her role at the district.

The 14-year-old boy was not identified, and it’s not clear if he was a student at the same BOCES school where Milazzo worked, according to the New York Post.

NY Democrats Seek To Punish Musk Over His Politics

A Democrat member of the state legislature has introduced a bill avowedly aimed at punishing Elon Musk for his political activities.
