Failed progressive candidate tries to poll her followers on college loan forgiveness, and the results are embarrassing

Nina Turner, the failed, far-left progressive congressional candidate, was embarrassed by her own poll which tried to push support for college loan forgiveness.

Turner posted a Twitter poll on Saturday in an attempt to demonstrate the support for the federal government forgiving the massive debt from student loans.

Opponents of the debt forgiveness policy hijacked the poll, resulting in the response "No, people should suffer" winning with 68.6% of the nearly 40,000 votes.

Turner's preferred response, "CANCEL ALL OF IT!" received support from only 24.9% of the respondents.

Many on social media took the opportunity to ridicule Turner and her support for student debt forgiveness at the expense of the taxpayer.

"Yes, you should suffer if you purchased a worthless degree. The only other option is that someone else suffers on your behalf. Of those two choices, it should be you. 100 percent. Stop being a selfish coward," replied commentator Matt Walsh.

"If your degree doesn’t have enough value for you to pay it off, it definitely doesn’t have enough value to make me pay it off," read another popular response.

"You took a loan knowing you would owe the money when you graduated. Be an adult like all of us have been and pay back your own damn loan. You do not deserve a free ride just because you feel entitled. I paid my loan, my kids loan and I am not paying yours. Grow the f up," responded another detractor.

Turner ran for the U.S. House seat in Ohio's 11th Congressional District, but lost the primary despite having raised more money than her more centrist opponent. She gained national prominence when she co-chaired the 2016 presidential campaign for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

"We didn't lose this race — evil money manipulated and maligned this election!" she said at the time.

"They took evil money to come in here and do this!" she added.

President Joe Biden made student loan forgiveness part of his presidential campaign, but he has since avoided backing full loan forgiveness and has asked Congress to pass legislation with lower limits on debt forgiveness. Some on the left called him racist and classist for refusing to excuse $50k of debt for every student debtor.

Results from CBS News poll on mass shootings lead to online liberal meltdown

A CBS News poll found that many Republicans believed mass shootings were something Americans need to accept in a free society and the results led to furious outrage from many on the left.

The poll conducted by YouGov found that 44% of Republicans answered that mass shootings need to be accepted in a free society. 56% of Republicans said they could be prevented if "we really tried."

Overall, 72% of people polled said mass shootings were preventable while only 28% said they would need to accepted.

Among Democrats, 15% said shootings have to be accepted while 85% said they were preventable.

The partisan nature of the results led many on social media to excoriate Republicans.

"I’m sorry, but living with the threat of random mass violence isn’t freedom," tweeted Nina Turner.

"This ain't freedom. Freedom is sending your kids to school to learn, not get shot. To get groceries, not get shot. To go out dancing, not get shot," responded Dr. Scott Hadland.

"Mass shootings is something to have to accept? What kind of demented thinking accepts the mass killing of innocent people?!!" read another tweet.

"44% of Republicans believe that child sacrifice is necessary to prevent the god named Second Amendment from becoming angry and eating our freedom," replied another detractor.

"Uuummm this is not normal, this is pure madness. And not anything to do with a 'free' society," read another popular tweet.

"Once again for the people all the way in the back, the GQP aren’t pro-life nor do they care about kids. When you accept mass murder, you’re as evil as can be," replied a liberal commentator.

"F*** THE US I have no f***ing hope for this country at all, I'm getting the f*** out the first chance I get," declared another critic.

The same poll in 2017 found that a majority of gun owners said we needed to accept mass shootings, while 67% of respondents who don't own guns said they could be stopped with more effort.

Biden admin hits pause on Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board just 3 weeks in; 'Mary Poppins' head Nina Jankowicz resigns

It's only been three weeks since its creation and already the Biden administration's ill-fated censorship bureau, the "Disinformation Governance Board," is on the rocks.

What are the details?

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that the Department of Homeland Security had officially "paused" the board following days of dramatic back-and-forth talks about its future.

On Monday, the DHS had reportedly determined to shut down the board permanently. But apparently, its supporters curried enough favor to keep the project on life support, pending review — perhaps only to avoid the embarrassment of it collapsing even quicker than CNN+.

In all likelihood, the maligned panel will not continue. But even if it does, it will go on without its infamous first director, "disinformation expert" Nina Jankowicz.

Jankowicz officially submitted her resignation from the panel Tuesday, saying in a statement, "With the board's work paused and its future uncertain ... I have decided to leave DHS to return to my work in the public sphere.

"It is deeply disappointing that mischaracterizations of the board became a distraction from the department's vital work, and indeed, along with recent events globally and nationally, embodies why it is necessary. I maintain my commitment to building awareness of disinformation's threats and trust the Department will do the same," she added.

What's the background?

The board had been the subject of scrutiny and ridicule for weeks since its launch as critics from across the political spectrum called it Stalinesque and compared it to the Ministry of Truth from George Orwell’s classic novel "1984."

It had been launched with the stated aim of "countering misinformation related to homeland security, focused specifically on irregular migration and Russia." Though many quickly saw the scheme for what it really was: a panel of left-wing elites empowered to determine what is and what is not truthful.

Jankowicz's own background added fuel to the fire. The so-called "expert" on Russian misinformation readily disseminated Trump-Russia collusion talking points from the later debunked Christopher Steele dossier in 2016. Then in 2020, she echoed baseless claims that Hunter Biden's laptop was part of a Russian disinformation campaign, even calling it a "Trump campaign product."

Most recently, Jankowicz said she "shudder[s] to think about" the consequences of "free speech absolutists ... taking over more platforms."

And, of course, if the nail weren't in the coffin already, a cringy video of Jankowicz singing an altered version of the lyrics to the "Mary Poppins" song, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," went viral online, garnering overwhelmingly negative backlash.

"Information laundering is really quite ferocious. It’s when a huckster takes some lies and makes them sound precocious. By saying them in Congress or a mainstream outlet, so disinformation’s origins are slightly less atrocious," she sings in the parody song, adding,

"You can just call me the Mary Poppins of disinformation," Jankowicz wrote in the caption to the February 2021 Twitter post.

Anything else?

In reporting on the panel's demise, Washington Post columnist (doxxer) Taylor Lorenz lamented Jankowicz’s experience as "a prime example of how the right-wing Internet apparatus operates, where far-right influencers attempt to identify a target, present a narrative, and then repeat mischaracterizations across social media and websites with the aim of discrediting and attacking anyone who seeks to challenge them."

But that assessment is hard to take seriously since both Jankowicz’s and the disinformation board's unraveling stemmed entirely from problems they created.

Republicans, rather than lamenting the news, celebrated it online.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) called it a "Huge win for Free Speech!" and journalist Glenn Greenwald added that it is a "cause of momentary celebration."

The House Judiciary GOP quipped, "CNN+ lasted longer than Joe Biden’s 'Disinformation Board.'"

The Washington Examiner's Seth Mandel joined in on the fun too, joking, "Ending Jankowicz's board is the biggest step any administration has taken in combating disinformation, time to give Biden his props here."

Twitter has a field day with 'cringe' videos of Biden's new disinformation czar singing Mary Poppins parody song and her 'Harry Potter' tribute band: 'This is enough of a reason to ban TikTok'

Nina Jankowicz was named as the Biden administration's executive director of the Department of Homeland Security's new Disinformation Governance Board on Thursday. Jankowicz was immediately thrust into the spotlight after being named as the head of the government agency that will reportedly "coordinate countering misinformation related to homeland security, focused specifically on irregular migration and Russia."

Commentators took notice that the Disinformation Governance Board czar previously dismissed Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop – which has been authenticated by numerous media outlets – as a "Trump campaign product."

A TikTok video of Jankowicz singing was broadcast on Thursday's episode of "Tucker Carlson Tonight." The video features Jankowicz singing about "information laundering" set to a musical parody of the "Mary Poppins" song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

According to Mediaite, Jankowicz sings the lyrics:

Information laundering is really quite ferocious. It’s when a huckster takes some lies and makes them sound precocious.
By saying them in Congress or a mainstream outlet, so disinformation’s origins are slightly less atrocious.
It’s how you hide a little, hide a little, little, little lie, it’s how you hide a little, little lie, it’s how you hide a little, little, little lie.
When Rudy Giuliani shared bad intel from Ukraine. Or when TikTok influencers say COVID can’t cause pain.
They’re laundering disinfo and we really should take note. And not support their lies with our wallet, voice or vote – oh!

In February 2021, Jankowicz shared her singing performance on Twitter with the caption: "You can just call me the Mary Poppins of disinformation."

Twitter reactions to the musical number by the new head of the Disinformation Governance Board included shock and cringe.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas): "This is who the government is trying to put in charge of regulating YOUR speech."

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.): "Behold, America’s new speech czar."

BlazeTV host Steve Deace of "The Steve Deace Show": "She’s perfect! She is the incarnate Spirit of the Age who also embodies the affluent woke white women that are the Democrats’ main base now."

RealClearPolitics president Tom Bevan: "Wait, this is real? I thought it was a joke or a deep fake or something."

Columnist Joe Concha: "This can’t be real. But it is."

Lawyer Harmeet K. Dhillon: "I’m telling you, lockdowns really messed with people’s mental health!"

Outkick founder Clay Travis: "This is the new Biden administration head of Ministry of Truth, Nina Jankowicz. She is in charge of what’s truth and fiction in America. Every time you think the Biden administration can’t get more ridiculous, they do."

Conservative commentator Katie Pavlich: "Why is the director of the Biden Ministry of Truth using a Chinese spy app?"

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis press secretary Christina Pushaw: "I mean, she wrote a whole book based on the premise that you can be a CIA agent and also ~marginalized~ at the same time so she’s the perfect censor kween for the Biden regime."

Author Steven Phillips, MD: "So this is the truth czar? I thought this was a joke at first--Imo, the poor judgment, smugness, & overconfidence it takes to make a video like this is no joke. And I think it's even more egregious due to her documented history of spreading lies. How did we get here?"

Editor Curtis Houck: "Rich, white, liberal women are indeed the worst and catering to them is destroying our country."

Author Matt Stoller: "Honestly this is enough of a reason to ban TikTok."

Former Arizona Senator Kelli Ward: "A spoonful of sugar cannot make THIS medicine go down."

Editor Brandon Morse: "I've made some pretty cringe stuff in my time but damn."

Former NYPD detective Rob O'Donnell: "They had Baghdad Bob, we have Nanny State Nina. The Ministry of Truth is unconstitutional, period. Every entity has a Press Secretary or PIO to relay their point of view, this is an abuse of a Law Enforcement Agency."

Author Ajit Datta: "Who would have thought the collapse of the world's greatest empire would be so funny."

Talk show host Mark Davis: "God help us."

Apparently, this is not Jankowicz's first foray into music.

According to a "Harry Potter" fan website, Jankowicz and another young woman launched a "wizard rock band" named "The Moaning Myrtles" based on the "Harry Potter" books in 2005. The band reportedly released two albums by 2008.

"The band's name is a take-off of Moaning Myrtle, the ghost who was killed by Salazar Slytherin's Basilisk and now haunts the first-floor girls' lavatory," according to the Harry Potter Wiki site.

In 2018, the Moaning Myrtles reunited to share their tribute song dedicated to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) titled "Nevertheless, I Persisted (Myrtle Elizabeth Warren)."

The lyrics for the "Myrtle Elizabeth Warren" include:

My job has changed since we last met
I advocate for human rights
Remotely taking on each threat
So call your reps and join the fight

When people tried to silence me
I stood my ground and I resisted
Because we need equality
And nevertheless, I persisted

Wuh oh wuh oh I've got a reputation
Wuh oh and yeah it's cause for celebration
So I'm standing up for the next generation
You can call me Myrtle Elizabeth Warren
Myrtle Elizabeth Warren
Myrtle Elizabeth Warren

Nevertheless, I persisted
