Liberal nonprofits are panicking over threats from Trump after Kirk killing

A network of liberal nonprofits and charities is in panic mode after several statements from President Donald Trump and his allies signal that they will use the power of the government to seek out and crush the political opposition.

A letter from liberal activist Norm Eisen of the Democracy Defenders Action sounded the alarm to the nonprofits about the threat and asked groups to sign a statement in defense of each other. The letter was published by the Free Press.

'This moment of tragedy does not call for exploiting a horrific act to further deepen our divides and make us less safe. It calls for unity — unity against violence and unity of purpose as Americans.'

"We the undersigned unequivocally condemn the murder of Charlie Kirk and all forms of political violence. There is simply no place for such actions in the United States," the letter read.

"Political violence has targeted those of every political persuasion and of no political persuasion," the letter continued. "It is un-American and wrong to use this act of violence as a pretext for weaponizing the government to threaten nonprofit and charitable organizations, other perceived adversaries, or any class of people. They did not commit this murder, and the vast powers of the government should not be abused to threaten their constitutionally protected free speech and other rights."

A U.S. official at the Department of Justice told the Free Press that officials are more eager to seek out leftist groups after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Trump has said that the government will investigate whether leftist billionaire George Soros has been funding radical left-wing protests.

Eisen went on in the letter to defend the efforts of nonprofits as productive and positive.

"Nonprofit and charitable organizations support critical services to our nation — working with faith communities, caring for vulnerable populations, upholding the Constitution, defending the rule of law and much more. Attacks on nonprofits and charities threaten that essential work happening everywhere across our country," he wrote.

"We implore the government to cease its escalation of political division, and stop the unjustified targeting of organizations and people in the wake of this terrible act of political violence," he added. "This moment of tragedy does not call for exploiting a horrific act to further deepen our divides and make us less safe. It calls for unity — unity against violence and unity of purpose as Americans."

The president has already taken action in the effort to root out liberal political groups.

On Wednesday, Trump said Antifa, which he described as a "SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER," would be designated as a "MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION."

He added that he would strongly recommend "those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices."

The REAL reason Democrats praise criminals

The brutal murder of Israeli Embassy diplomats Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim by a Marxist Hamas-supporter is the latest example of the culmination of academia-spawned progressivism and the left’s tendency to condone violence if the ends justify the means, says Glenn Beck.

Too long have leftists, many of whom are in our government, directly and indirectly applauded criminality. Some of them have even engaged in it themselves. Two judges were recently arrested and charged with allegedly helping illegal immigrants evade the law. The party as a whole is currently fighting tooth and nail to prevent the deportations of illegal immigrants — even the ones with ghastly criminal records.

Earlier this month, three New Jersey representatives and Newark mayor Ras Baraka stormed a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility. Baraka was arrested and charged with trespassing, and Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) was charged with two counts of assaulting, resisting, and impeding law enforcement.

Back in December, leftists across the country praised Luigi Mangione as a hero for murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Several Democrat lawmakers used his death to advocate for universal health care, suggesting that Thompson’s murder was the result of understandable public outrage over systemic issues in the health care system.

Tesla dealerships and vehicles have gone up in flames. Pregnancy centers and pro-life groups across the country have been ruthlessly attacked. Left-wing riots continue to rage in every major city. Donald Trump was nearly assassinated twice.

Nobody can deny at this point that the left is the party of violence.

But “why would the Democrats be going this way? Why would they be standing up for murderers?” asks Glenn.

After Kamala Harris’ loss, you’d think the party would be trying to get back in the good graces of the American people. Condoning criminality certainly won’t help with that endeavor.

But what if regaining popularity is not the end goal?

“That may not be the plan,” says Glenn. “Revolution and direct action stuff — that's what they're trained to do; it's the highest calling of the left. This isn't about politics; this is about a Marxist worldview that has been baked into the minds of several generations of Americans through our university classrooms.”

“The classroom is where you train students to see everything through [the oppressor vs. the oppressed] lens,” says Glenn, pointing to Paulo Freire’s 1968 book “Pedagogy of the Oppressed,” which outlines his ideology that classrooms are “battlegrounds for social action” rather than academic learning centers.

“[Freire’s] critical pedagogy is still the dominant theory in teacher education programs today,” which is why universities are “churning out radicals,” he explains.

This oppressor vs. oppressed framework has become “the new morality,” and that’s what’s really fueling Democrats’ engagement in and tolerance for crime.

Glenn believes that widespread BLM-level riots are being plotted across the country right now.

“It’s coming,” he warns, pointing to Governors Safeguarding Democracy — an anti-Trump coalition of Democratic governors led by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Colorado Governor Jared Polis and guided by Norm Eisen, a former White House ethics official and a key figure in Trump’s first impeachment.

This group, Glenn explains, is actively working to oppose President Trump’s immigration policies through a coordinated strategy outlined in a document called "Firewall for Freedom,” which includes model executive orders for governors to block National Guard deployments they don’t approve and to withhold state resources (i.e., time, money, or facilities) from federal immigration enforcement efforts.

In an April speech, Pritzker called for “mass protests,” “mobilization,” and “disruption.”

“These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace,” he said.

“This is what happens when the system turns out activists instead of thinkers — violence is excused as resistance,” and “governors weaponize their authority to defy the will of the American people,” says Glenn.

“This is a coordinated effort to destabilize America rooted in decades of Marxist indoctrination. That's what's happening in America. That's what's coming.”

Trump Slams ‘Communist’ Persecution Of Conservatives While Speaking At DOJ

'Our predecessors turned this Department of Justice into the Department of Injustice. ... Those days are over.'

REVEALED: Meet the evil mastermind targeting Trump with lawfare

When Donald Trump won the election last November, like many conservatives, Liz Wheeler feared that we’d see political violence in the streets — the same kind of Democrat-funded violence that fueled the Summer of Rage in 2020.

Surprisingly, the streets were quiet following Trump’s victory.

But it wasn’t because some on the left didn’t want to fund political violence. They simply couldn’t.

“Kamala Harris drained the war chest of the Democrat operatives; she spent all of the DNC's money, and they simply didn't have any money left to pay these people, who are not grassroots activists. …They're paid Democrat operatives,” says Liz.

Plan B, as we’ve all seen, is to wage lawfare.

“As President Trump issues executive order after executive order, reclaiming his rightful role as chief executive of the United States, the left is trying to stop him” by “filing lawsuit after lawsuit, getting judges who have been captured by the radical left and now serve as nothing more than activists on a bench to issue nationwide injunctions,” Liz explains.

“The question of the day is who is behind this effort to stop President Trump.”

His name, Liz says, is Norman Eisen. He’s an attorney and a former United States ambassador to the Czech Republic.

Most importantly, though, “he’s a Democrat operative” who is “buddies with the architects and the lawyers that staged the electioneering of the 2020 presidential election,” says Liz.

“Norm’s group is the one behind the lawsuits which are leading to the nationwide injunctions against President Trump's executive orders.”

To get the scoop on Norm Eisen and his mastermind plotting to thwart the Trump administration, Liz invites legal scholar Dr. John Eastman and journalist and veteran White House correspondent Fred Lucas on “The Liz Wheeler Show.”

According to Dr. Eastman, these nationwide injunctions issued by lower-court judges are illegal.

“The lower courts are courts of limited jurisdiction,” he says. They're limited by both “geography” — that is, districts — and by “the key provision in Article III, the judicial article, of our Constitution,” which says “that they can only address cases or controversies.”

“So they can't decide and impose obligations on people that are not parties to the case before them,” Dr. Eastman explains, adding that what these lower courts are doing right now in regard to President Trump is so outrageous, it’s bound to be addressed by the Supreme Court soon.

This lawfare, Dr. Eastman explains, is designed to “deprive the American people of the results of the election that they just consented to.”

The election results, he says, were “a mandate to President Trump to do exactly the kind of things he's doing.” By blocking Trump’s executive orders, the lower courts are aiming to “stop the American people from exercising their sovereign power.”

“That's essentially what's going on, and it is about as undemocratic a move as one can imagine,” says Dr. Eastman.

And Norm Eisen is behind it.

Fred Lucas says that Eisen “has a large web of dark-money nonprofits that are engaged in lawfare largely targeted at Trump.”

“His coalition is actually part of a larger coalition that's being run by Marc Elias called Civil Service Strong, which is largely focused on defending the deep-state employees,” says Lucas.

A peek into Eisen’s past puts the puzzle pieces in place. Not only was he “part of the team that impeached President Trump in 2019,” but he was also “part of the Obama White House,” where he served first as ethics czar and then ambassador to the Czech Republic. Prior to that, “he was one of the founding members of [Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington] … the same organization that last year tried to get Trump kicked off the ballot in various states,” including Colorado.

To learn more about Norm Eisen’s shady history and his diabolic plan to undermine President Trump’s agenda, watch the episode above.

Jennifer Rubin out at WaPo, which hemorrhaged readers under Biden

Infamous NeverTrumper Jennifer Rubin has parted ways with the Washington Post, an outlet that has hemorrhaged readers since Joe Biden took office four years ago.

Rubin, who spent 14 years writing for the opinion section at WaPo, resigned from the publication, CNN reported on Monday, claiming that it and other mainstream media outlets have "failed spectacularly at a moment that we most need a robust, aggressive free press."

"I fear that things are going from bad to worse at the Post," she added.

Specifically, Rubin took issue with WaPo owner Jeff Bezos nixing an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in October. She also noted that another Bezos business, Amazon, made a $1 million contribution to Trump's inaugural fund.

Rubin will now join forces with former Obama official and Trump impeachment attorney Norm Eisen for a Substack entitled the Contrarian. Rubin will serve as editor in chief, Eisen as publisher.

With the tagline "Not owned by anybody," the Contrarian promises to feature "pro-democracy" voices, especially those that once excoriated voters and officials who dared question the 2020 election or anyone who took an unauthorized pass through the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The Substack will offer some free content beginning on Monday but will eventually charge subscribers $7 per month for full access.

"Our goal is to combat, with every fiber of our being, the authoritarian threat that we face," Rubin told CNN, adding that far too many reporters have lately "bent the knee" to President-elect Donald Trump, who takes office again in a matter of days.

"The voices we’ll be featuring are diverse across parties and generations," Eisen said in a statement, "connected by the shared belief that we need an unshackled media in order to meet this moment, as we face an existential threat to American democracy."

'Our industry is in the middle of a major transformation.'

Rubin won't be the only one to leave the Post. The outlet is planning to lay off 100 people, approximately 4% of its workforce, though the newsroom will not be affected, the Wall Street Journal reported. This latest round of layoffs comes after the outlet cut 240 journalists in October 2023.

Staff reductions are hardly surprising considering the tremendous loss in readership in recent years. In January 2021, WaPo website traffic soared to a high-water mark of 22.5 million daily active users, according to Semafor. By the middle of 2024, that number had tanked to an average of just 2.5 or 3 million.

Notably, 250,000 WaPo readers canceled their subscriptions after learning about the snafu regarding the Harris endorsement, though a source told the WSJ that many of those subscribers have since returned.

Revenue at WaPo has also dwindled. The outlet lost $77 million in 2023 alone and another $100 million last year. Ad dollars also fell from $190 million in 2023 to just $174 million in 2024.

"Our industry is in the middle of a major transformation," a spokeswoman told the WSJ. "The Post is committed to innovating, creating, and leading the way forward to reach all Americans with nonpartisan news and thought-provoking reported views."
