Masked thugs shoot mother dead in front of her husband, son after she tried to defend them amid robbery in NYC condo building

A pair of masked robbers shot a mother dead in front of her husband and son after she tried to defend them amid a robbery in their New York City condo building Monday night, the New York Post reported.

Two suspects in black ski masks allegedly followed the victim’s 61-year-old husband into the building — Two Bridges at 44 Market St. in lower Manhattan — and then into the elevator where they attempted to rob him, the Post said.

'It’s all surreal,' Liu’s son told the Post Tuesday. 'I feel only sadness right now.'

Lin Rong Yan, 32, buzzed his dad into the building and was waiting for him in the eighth-floor hallway when the elevator opened and revealed the crime in progress, the paper said, citing sources.

Yan tried to intervene, and one of the suspects pistol-whipped him, sources told the Post.

His mother — 57-year-old home health aide Ying Zhu Liu — heard what was happening and came out with a stick to confront the robbers, but she was shot in the face in front of her husband and son, the paper said.

The robbers grabbed a cellphone from Liu’s husband and fled in an unknown direction, the Post said, adding that the pair were still at large as of early Tuesday.

Police told the paper the gunman was wearing a half-red, half-black hooded jacket, black pants with a white stripe down the leg, and white sneakers; the second suspect was wearing a black hooded coat, black pants, and black-and-white sneakers.

Liu’s son told the Post he didn't recognize either of the suspects.

The paper said the hallway was still smeared with blood 12 hours after the fatal shooting.

"I heard a fight, gunshot, and then just called 911. I didn't open the door. I was scared for my life, thought the best thing I could do was call police," neighbor John Lee told WCBS-TV.

“It’s all surreal,” Liu’s son told the Post Tuesday. “I feel only sadness right now.”

A family friend added to the paper that "no such crimes happened in this building" over the past decade.

Those with information about the case can confidentially call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782), WCBS said, adding that tipsters can submit them online or through a direct message on Twitter @NYPDTips.

Migrant mob kicks, punches NYPD cops in vicious attack — then 4 get released without bail

A surveillance camera outside a migrant shelter captured a mob of migrants kicking and punching two New York Police Department officers in a vicious attack over the weekend, the New York Post reported.

🚨WANTED for ASSAULT: on 1/27 at approx. 8:30 PM, individuals kicked & punched police officers in the head & body when officers were effecting an arrest in front of 220 W 42nd Street. The individuals fled on foot towards 7th Ave. Any info? DM or call @nypdtips at 800-577-TIPS.
— (@)

The incident took place in front of a shelter in Times Square on Saturday evening. The video showed the cops instructing the migrants to move along before a physical altercation broke out between the officers and one of the suspects.

After the cops wrestled the unruly individual to the ground, the rest of the migrants took turns punching and kicking the officers while they were still grappling with the suspect. The mob managed to break their friend free from the officers, and they all took off on foot, fleeing from the scene.

NYPD officers later arrested five people accused of being involved in the assault.

The Post reported that four of the migrants — Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19, Kelvin Servat Arocha, 19, Juarez Wilson, 21, and Yorman Reveron, 24 — were charged with assault and released without bail, according to law enforcement sources. A fifth asylum seeker, 22-year-old Jhoan Boada, was apprehended Monday evening and charged with attempted assault of a police officer, according to the Post’s sources.

One of the officers involved in the altercation suffered a cut to his face, and the other officer sustained injuries to the side of his body, WNBC reported.

Reveron already has two open cases for assault and robbery, according to the Post. He was accused of pushing, punching, and biting a Nordstrom Rack employee after the worker allegedly witnessed him stealing, sources told the Post. In another alleged robbery attempt, Reveron was accused of punching a Herald Square Macy’s loss prevention officer.

Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry stated, “Attacks on police officers are becoming an epidemic, and the reason is a revolving door we’re seeing in cases like this one. It is impossible for police officers to deal effectively with crime and disorder if the justice system can’t or won’t protect us while we do that work.”

The Post reported that the over 172,000 migrants who crossed into the United States from the southern border are now residing in New York City. The city’s shelter system is currently housing over 67,000 migrants.

Earlier this month, New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams imposed curfews from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on some migrant shelters following complaints from local residents, Blaze News previously reported.

Cops release photo of female accused of kicking pregnant woman in stomach, striking her head multiple times in NYC subway

New York City police are on the hunt for a female accused of kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach and striking her in the head multiple times with a cell phone following a Wednesday morning subway ride in Queens.

What are the details?

Cops said the victim — a 25-year-old woman — was riding a southbound 7 train approaching the 74th Street-Broadway station in Jackson Heights around 9 a.m. when the female suspect bumped into her, WNYW-TV reported.

When the suspect and victim got off the train, they began to argue, and the suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the head with her cell phone before kicking the victim in the stomach, the station said.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, WNYW said.

Police said the victim suffered swelling and bruising to the face and stomach pain and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the station said.

The victim and her baby are expected to be OK, police added to WPIX-TV.

Police released a photo of the accused attacker, Patch noted:

Police said those with information regarding this incident can call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782), WNYW reported, adding that tips can be submitted on the Crime Stoppers website or on Twitter @NYPDTips. The station said all calls are strictly confidential.

How are folks reacting?

As you might guess, observers are hoping the attacker is found and prosecuted. Here's what some of them had to say in comments underneath the WNYW story published by Yahoo News:

 • "She should get double charges ... for the victim and the unborn," one commenter wrote.
 • "She deserves some really bad karma if she damaged that baby," another commenter said.
 • "If that baby is considered alive in that state, that needs to be treated as though it is an attempted murder," another commenter declared.
 • "Amazing that we live in a society that thinks behaving like animals is justified," another commenter noted. "Striking other human beings, especially a pregnant one, is beyond the pale."

18-year-old arrested in connection with brutal murder of NYC social justice activist, stabbed repeatedly in front of his girlfriend

A social justice advocate was slaughtered in front of his anti-cop girlfriend in New York City earlier this week. Police have made an arrest in the case.

Brian Dowling, an 18-year-old who has reportedly had previous run-ins with the law, is believed to be the individual seen in surveillance footage stabbing 32-year-old Ryan Carson and then fleeing. Police circulated the suspect's image Wednesday afternoon and identified him shortly thereafter. He is now in custody at the New York Police Department's 81st Precinct.

WANTED FOR MURDER: On 10/2/23 @ 3:50 AM, at Malcolm X Blvd & Lafayette Ave in the confines of the 81st Precinct, the above individual stabbed the victim multiple times, causing his demise. Any info, please call the @NYPDTips at 800-577-TIPS.
— NYPD 81st Precinct (@NYPD 81st Precinct) 1696350026

The stabbing

TheBlaze previously reported that surveillance footage shows Carson and his girlfriend — alleged BLM activist Claudia Morales — seated Monday morning at a bus stop bench near Malcolm X Blvd. The two were on their way home from a wedding on Long Island.

The suspect walks past the couple without exchanging any words around 3:50 a.m. Down the block, he starts kicking over parked scooters. Moments later, Carson and Morales get up and begin walking in the same direction.

The suspect turns his attention, screaming at Carson, "The f*** are you looking at? ... Imma kill you right now!"

Carson backs up, repeatedly telling the incensed thug, "Chill, chill."

Despite Carson's attempts to de-escalate the situation and push away his attacker, the thug manages to punch the 6'4" social justice advocate in the face. Carson recoils and retreats, tripping over the bus bench in the process.

Morales pleads with the thug to stop, but her efforts are in vain.

Brandishing a knife, the thug chases Carson and stabs him three times in the chest. After kicking his victim's body on the ground, the thug threatens to stab Morales, electing instead to spit in her face and flee.

Toward the end of the footage, a woman appears, calling out what sounds like "Brian" and telling the aggrieved woman, "I'm so sorry!"

Carson was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny indicated at a press conference Wednesday that Carson's heart had been pierced by the knife in the attack.

Kenny also indicated police had identified the alleged killer but were waiting for "probable cause to make this arrest."

The suspect

Sources told the New York Post that Dowling was arrested Thursday after NYPD officers executed a search warrant at a home on Lafayette Avenue — near Malcom X Boulevard, where Ryan Carson was slain.

A neighbor told the New York Daily News, "[I'm] very surprised, I can't believe it. ... He was the sweetest boy."

A family friend suggested that he couldn't understand what set Dowling off.

The Post reported that Dowling had been issued three summonses last year, including two for disorderly conduct. He was also named in an incident report concerning a July incident where he allegedly smashed up his girlfriend's apartment following a dispute. According to his aunt, he is "mentally disturbed."

Police are considering the possibility that the suspect may have once again been fighting with his girlfriend, this time turning his rage onto an unsuspecting passerby.

"The person that did the stabbing was seen on the corner with a female acting very agitated prior to the stabbing," said Kenny.

Dowling, being questioned at the 81st Precinct and whose charges are pending, reportedly works at a high school in Clinton Hill.

The victim

Carson appears to have been well liked, both at work and in his community.

He moved to New York City from Massachusetts in 2010 to attend the Pratt Institute. He ended up becoming a senior solid waste campaign manager at the New York Public Interest Research Group.

The NYPIRG noted in a statement, "Ryan was a beloved staffer, colleague and friend, and a creative, talented, relentless and upbeat advocate for students and the environment."

Blair Horner, Carson's former boss at the NYPIRG, said, "It's incomprehensible. ... He was so young," reported WABC-TV.

"A life full of promise is snuffed out. And the world is a worse place for it, and we'll miss him dearly," added Horner.

Tammy Marie David, a radical leftist who has lent her voice to "Be Heard!" on WHCR-FM, started a Gofundme for Carson's girlfriend, Claudia Morales, which has already raised over $65,500.

"Immediate needs are to offset the costs of working class people taking time off of work to properly mourn," wrote David. "We hope you may find his thoughts on mutual aid, his works of advocacy, and understand that his radical principles of community care, justice, and dismantling an individualized profit-centered way of life are worth carrying forward in our own communities."

Andy Ngo of the Post Millennial reported that Morales is a BLM activist who has previously denounced the police, noting in a June 1, 2020, social media post, "The police do not protect you. ACAB. BLM. hope you're on the right side of history."

Suspect surrenders in deadly Hell's Kitchen drugging, robbery spree; 2 more remain at large

Police arrested one of three suspects sought in a deadly drugging and robbery spree targeting victims visiting gay bars in Manhattan, WABC reported Sunday.

Charges against 30-year-old Jacob Barroso include murder, robbery, and conspiracy, CBS News reported.

Police are still looking for two others in connection with the 2022 deaths of Julio Ramirez and John Umberger. Police say the victims were drugged during a robbery attempt, the outlet also reported.

The three are part of a larger group accused in 17 similar crimes between September 2021 and August 2022, according to the New York Post.

Victims Ramirez and Umberger had both visited gay bars in the city's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood before being found dead, NBC News reported.

Family members say both men's bank accounts were drained of thousands of dollars using facial recognition on their phones after they left the bars with at least one unknown person, the outlet also reported.

Ramirez and Umberger had multiple drugs in their systems, according to the medical examiner's office. The drugs included fentanyl, lidocaine, and cocaine.

Multiple suspects were indicted in connection with the death of the two men, NBC News confirmed last week. According to the indictment, once the victims were incapacitated by the drugs, the co-conspirators would steal the victims' phones and credit cards and use them to make purchases.

Officials told the outlet that the indicted suspects were targeted for financial gain rather than their sexual orientation.

Police said that multiple groups of criminals are committing these crimes. They also said the crimes were not limited to patrons visiting gay bars. Similar crimes were also being committed at bars without an affiliation with the gay community.

The New York City Medical Examiner's Office confirmed they were investigating "several additional deaths in similar circumstances."

NYPD Crime Stoppers released photos of the three men wanted in connection with the two homicides Friday.

Video: Teen with autism dragged off Manhattan subway train as youths gang up, punch him in face repeatedly while commuters watch

A 15-year-old boy with autism was dragged off a Manhattan subway train last week during the afternoon rush as youths ganged up and repeatedly punched him in the face while commuters watched.

What are the details?

The suspects yanked the victim from a northbound A train to the platform at the West 181st Street and Fort Washington Avenue subway station around 5:30 p.m. Friday, New York City police told WPIX-TV.

The victim was then punched multiple times in the face and body, authorities added to WPIX, noting that the attack left the victim with a bloody lip and broken glasses.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, WPIX said. Anti-black slurs were used, WABC-TV reported, adding that police are looking for two females and one male. No arrests have been made, WPIX said.

Victim's mother speaks out

The victim's mother didn't want to be identified for fear of her safety and her son's safety but told WABC she was aware that her son — who has high-functioning autism — had gone out for the evening. However, the mother added to the station she was shocked by a call from police saying her son was in a hospital far from their home in Queens.

"Keep a close eye on them," the mother warned other parents of teenagers, WABC said. "Because a lot of trouble could have been avoided had I done that."

The mother added to the station that her son needed stitches, but she's more concerned about the psychological and emotional damage the attack may have on him.

She added to WABC that her son doesn't know any of his attackers or why they beat him up.

Anything else?

Police said those with information about the incident can call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can be submitted by logging on the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on Twitter @NYPDTips.

New York City Transit President Richard Davey called the video "heartbreaking and disturbing" in a statement, WABC noted.

"Our hearts are with the young man seemingly being senselessly victimized," Davey added, according to the station. "No one should be subject to this sort of hateful harassment while they are riding with New York City Transit, and the MTA is fully cooperating with the NYPD in its investigation into the incident."

Liberals blame homophobia for man on video tossing brick at gay club in NYC. Police arrested a gay man for the crime.

Some on the left blamed LGBTQ hatred and homophobia for acts of vandalism against a gay club in New York City, but police arrested a suspect who said he was himself gay.

Surveillance video showed a man wearing glasses walking up to VERS, a gay bar in the Hells' Kitchen neighborhood, and tossing a brick at one of the windows while patrons looked on.

Police said there were a total of four incidents of vandalism against the same bar over a period of a month. They later posted a video of the suspect from inside a bodega in the nieghborhood.

“🚨WANTED for CRIMINAL MISCHIEF HATE CRIME PATTERN: Have you seen this person? Between 11/13/22 and 11/19/22, the suspect threw a brick into the front window of the establishment, damaging it. Have any info? DM @NYPDTips, or anonymously call them at 800-577-TIPS.”
— NYPD NEWS (@NYPD NEWS) 1669082401

The owner of the bar implied that the incidents were tied to hatred of gay people.

"There's a lot of heightened fear in the community from attacks happening all over the country and we just want to make sure that we're providing a safe space," said David DeParolesa to WNBC-TV.

In an article at Gothamist, the attitude of the police was criticized because they weren't taking the incident seriously enough as a possible hate crime.

DeParolesa told the outlet that he told a police officer they might have been targeted because they were a gay bar, and the officer replied, "Well you can't know that."

The owner was annoyed that the police response was so nonchalant.

“It's typical that we, as gay people who have spaces we've created, have to protect ourselves,” he added. “I'm not defeatist. In fact, I'm more emboldened than ever.”

However, some on social media were skeptical. After seeing the video of the man throwing the brick, comedian Theo Vonn responded, "that form tell u its a inside job" in a tweet that garnered more than 303k likes.

On Tuesday, police ruined the homophobic narrative when they arrested 34-year-old Sean Kuilan, who identified himself as a gay man.

NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said that Kuilan told them he was "exacting revenge" on the gay bar on behalf of a female friend of his who was in a feud with the business.

“As of right now we don’t have any reason to believe it is [a hate crime]," Essig said.

Police have only charged Kuilan with three of the four vandalism incidents because there's no video of the fourth incident. He was charged with three counts of criminal mischief, three counts of reckless endangerment, and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

“I’m gay myself,” Kuilan said to reporters as he was escorted by police into court.

Here's more about the incident:

Video: Mother, 10-year-old daughter repeatedly punched in random attack on Bronx subway train — while multiple people inches away do nothing to help them

An unidentified woman was caught on cellphone video repeatedly punching a mother and her 10-year-old daughter on a subway train in the Bronx while multiple people just inches away did nothing to help them.

What are the details?

Police told WNBC-TV the attack occurred Oct. 18 around 4:30 p.m. WCBS-TV reported that police just released new surveillance images of the suspect.

The 36-year-old mother and her daughter were on their way from from school and standing in a crowded northbound 5 train at the Westchester Avenue and Simpson Street station in the Longwood section, WNBC said.

Police told WNBC that's when the suspect began punching them in the face and mouth. Police said video taken by another passenger shows the woman punching the mother and daughter with a closed fist, WCBS reported.

The mother, who asked not to be identified, told WNBC she doesn't know what sparked the attack.

"She no say nothing to me, just she punch the head like crazy. Boom boom boom. No say nothing to me," the mother told WNBC and added that others on the train saw the attack take place but failed to help them.

The mother added to WNBC she didn't consider fighting back as her only mission was to shield her girl from the stranger's fists.

"Just like make the hug and say, 'No worries, mommy is here, I protect you, no worry,'" the mother added to WNBC.

What happened next?

WNBC said the attacker — described as a woman in her 40s, about about 5 feet 8 inches tall with short black hair, and last seen wearing a black jacket and black sunglasses — soon exited the train and ran off. WCBS added that the attacker is described as weighing about 215 pounds.

The mother and daughter were taken to a hospital where they were treated for their injuries, WNBC said. But the emotional fallout continues, as the mom told WNBC her little girl is still scared when she sees crowds.

Anything else?

An investigation is proceeding, WNBC said, adding that a cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. WCBS added that you submit a tip via the NYPD's Crime Stoppers website or via Twitter @NYPDTips and that all tips are kept confidential

In yet another NYC subway attack, cops say suspect tried to argue with victim — and when victim walked away, suspect stabbed him in back

In yet another New York City subway attack, police said a suspect tried to argue with a victim on a train platform — and when the victim walked away, the suspect stabbed him in the back.

What are the details?

Police said the perpetrator tried to engage the victim in a dispute just before 4:30 a.m. Friday on the southbound "A" line platform at 125th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue. Fox News reported that's a Harlem station.

Cops added that when the victim didn't respond, the suspect stabbed the victim once in the back.

Police said the victim is a 58-year-old man who ignored the suspect's attempt to start a "verbal dispute," Fox News said, citing NYPD Crimestoppers. The cable network added that when the victim walked away, the suspect followed behind him, pulled out a knife, and stabbed the victim once in the upper back.

The suspect then fled the station in an unknown direction, Fox News said.

The cable network said the suspect is between 28 and 35 years old and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build.

WNYW-TV said the victim was rushed to Mount Sinai-Morningside Hospital in stable condition where he received multiple stitches for his wound.

Police said there's a $3,500 reward, and tipsters can confidentially call 1-800-577-TIPS. WNYW added that members of the public also can submit tips by logging on to the CrimeStoppers website or on Twitter @NYPDTips.

How are folks reacting?

Facebook commenters were none too pleased with the alleged attacker or with elected officials:

 • "And this Rhodes Scholar's got a book in his hand," one commenter said.
 • "Still crime on the rise in the subways and yet that useless governor and mayor yap [their] gums about more cops in the subways," another commenter observed. "[I've] yet to see any down there but a lot of homeless and crazy people walking and sleeping; one even taking a dump on the E train platform recently; stay safe commuters always watch your surroundings down there."
 • "It just doesn’t end," another commenter lamented.

TheBlaze has been extensively covering the recent spike in New York City subway attacks.

Punks apparently playing 'knockout game' wallop wrong victim — a retired NYPD officer who doesn't go down: 'They were all running for their lives'

A group of males apparently playing the notorious "knockout game" — in which unsuspecting individuals are sucker-punched in public as the deed is recorded on video — definitely picked the wrong victim Tuesday in Brooklyn's Brighton Beach neighborhood.

They guy they walloped from behind is 66-year-old Harvey Kraft, a retired New York City police officer who was shopping for a sweatshirt on Brighton Beach Avenue, WCBS-TV reported.

Except Kraft didn't fall to the pavement as the punks likely expected.

What are the details?

"It was one o'clock in the afternoon. Broad daylight, crowded street. It was just something you don't expect," Kraft told WCBS.

Kraft's back was facing the street when police said a group of males attacked him — with one delivering a vicious punch to his head from behind, the station said.

"They hit me in the temple," Kraft recounted to WCBS. "But I could tell it was a full impact, roundhouse blow, because it felt like a brick."

You'd think most anyone, particularly someone his age, would've dropped like a brick — but this former cop, who's almost certainly faced down scarier perps during his 20 years on the job, wasn't about to.

“I just absorbed it," Kraft told the New York Daily News. "They were still standing there. ... They were prepared to see me go down.”

He added to WCBS that "as soon as they saw I wasn't knocked out, and I pursued them, they were all running for their lives. Not that I'm a Superman, but I'm just glad it wasn't an individual or someone that would've been seriously hurt."

What happened next?

Video shows Kraft chasing after his alleged attackers, who got away. Video also shows two of the alleged assailants walking down a sidewalk prior to the punch.

He was treated at the scene and declined to go to a hospital, the Daily News said, adding that after giving a statement to police, he asked officers to drop him off at a coffee shop so he could finish his errands. Kraft retired from the NYPD in 2002, the paper noted.

Kraft is pretty sure his assailants were playing the knockout game because "they had their video cameras ready to record. They thought, I guess, it would be a jokey matter to put on YouTube or get some media publicity," WCBS reported.

However, "it’s no game,” Kraft added to the Daily News. “That does a disservice to anyone who’s attacked. ... I was just minding my business, then ‘bam.’ It shouldn’t be that way, obviously. I’m glad it wasn’t someone more elderly, frail. It looks like it was planned.”

Kraft told WCBS he wasn't carrying his gun at the time of the attack.

Anything else?

"I want to advise people that they have to be aware of their surroundings, and unfortunately, it's like you have to have two sets of eyes in front of your head and the back of your head," Kraft warned, according to the station.

WCBS said that those with information about the attack can call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) — or they can confidentially submit a tip via their website or via DM on Twitter @NYPDTips.
