'I'm an elected official': Body cam of Democrat's DUI arrest reveals car crash, open wine bottle, lewd 'penis' remark

A Chicago-area Democratic official was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, and police said she was "not compliant" during the arrest, which was captured on body cam video.

According to the Chicago Police Department, 45-year-old Samantha Steele was arrested at 8:49 p.m. Nov. 10 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

'Ma’am, if you don’t exit the vehicle ... I’m going to help you to exit, and you don’t want that.'

Police discovered Steele — the Democratic commissioner for the Second District of the Cook County Board of Review — lying on the sidewalk, according to the arrest report.

Police said they found significant front-end damage to a Honda Accord and a Dodge Charger near Steele's vehicle.

Steele reportedly told officers she had been driving south on Ashland Avenue when the car crash occurred.

The officer said Steele was "involved in an accident."

Police said they noticed a half-empty bottle of red wine near the front passenger seat of Steele's vehicle.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the police body cam video showed the officers joke that the cabernet sauvignon was “good stuff” and that breath mints they also found "didn’t help" cover up the "strong odor of [an] alcoholic beverage" on her breath.

Officers also allegedly noted that her eyes appeared "bloodshot and glassy."

When officers asked how much she had drunk, Steele reportedly refused to answer and deflected by saying, "I want my lawyer, and I am not talking to you."

One of the officers is heard saying, "She smells like alcohol; she's been drinking."

She is seen on police body cam video refusing to exit her car; initially, she wouldn't provide her driver's license to officers.

An officer is heard on body cam video telling Steele's alleged friend, "So she's not exiting. We're going to have to make her exit. She is not compliant right now, as you can see."

An officer told her, “Ma’am, if you don’t exit the vehicle ... I’m going to help you to exit, and you don’t want that.”

Steele shot back at the cop, "You don’t want that! I’m an elected official.”

The officer asked, “Elected official of what?”

Steele said she was an elected official in Cook County but would not provide the officer with her job title.

When the officer asked for her name, Steele held out her hand for a handshake and said, “I’m Sam.”

The cop responded, “Sam who?”

Steele refused to provide her full name to the officer.

Steele refused to get out of the car until the arrival of her alleged attorney — Democratic Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton of Glenview.

Britton allegedly advised Steele, “Don’t say anything. Don’t say anything.”

Police said Steele was "swaying front to back" during questioning.

Steele reportedly refused to do a field sobriety test at first.

Body cam video shows police handcuffing Steele.

Steele allegedly agreed to a field sobriety test after being handcuffed, but then she claimed to have hit her head in the crash and needed medical treatment. The police report stated that she was handcuffed again, placed in an ambulance, and taken to a local hospital. She was later discharged from the hospital.

The arrest report noted that Steele made lewd remarks to the arresting officer.

Steele allegedly asked a cop, "Is your penis really that small?"

Police impounded her vehicle.

Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison called for Steele to resign from the Cook County Board of Review for her "aggressive behavior" during her arrest.

"This incident raises serious concerns about her conduct and judgment as an elected official," Morrison said in a statement. "If an elected official does not respect our dedicated police officers, then how can we expect the citizens to respect the police?"

Steele was first elected to the Cook County Board of Review in 2022.

Steele is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 27.

Parents attack female middle school deputy, steal her taser, bodycam video shows. Sheriff reacts with profanity-laced tirade.

A Florida man and his wife were arrested Tuesday after they attacked a female school resource deputy, authorities said, citing police bodycam footage.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that two parents — 46-year-old Jorge Rivera and 45-year-old Dagmarie Aponte Iturrino — assaulted the deputy at Deltona Middle School on Tuesday morning.

'To be clear, the only piece of s**t in that video is the mother and father. They're the pieces of s**t.'

The confrontation purportedly stemmed from the couple's 11-year-old son getting into a physical altercation with a girl. The parents went to the school to protest a battery charge against their son that resulted in a civil citation, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood told WESH-TV.

According to the bodycam video, the parents confronted the school resource deputy for accusing their son of being the "primary aggressor" in the incident with the girl.

Video shows Rivera responding, "You failed a kid. You’re failing kids right here. We’re not talking about us because believe me, if it were about the adults we could solve this a whole different level. We are talking about kids."

A visibly agitated Rivera told the school resource deputy, "Why are you so worthless? Do you feel proud that you are this worthless, lady? Shut the f*** up because I pay your salary, you dumb b***h!"

"You are a worthless piece of s**t," Rivera told the female law enforcement officer.

The wife unsuccessfully attempted to get her husband to calm down.

Deputy Julia Curtin asked the parents to leave her office at the school.

Rivera is seen on bodycam video in a school hallway putting his hand in the deputy's face.

Suddenly, Iturrino is seen physically confronting the officer, and video shows Rivera jumping into the fracas.

The officer draws her taser, but Rivera apparently punches the deputy in the head, knocking her to the ground. He then rips the deputy's taser from her hand.

A school employee tries to stop Rivera from using the taser.

Deputy Curtin draws her gun and yells: "Put it down right f***ing now! Put your hands behind your f***ing back now!"

Rivera is seen dropping the taser, and the deputy arrests Rivera and Iturrino.

According to jail records, both parents were charged with resisting arrest with violence, trespass on school property after warning, and disputing a school function. Rivera was hit with charges of grand theft, battery on a law enforcement officer, and assault or battery on specified officials or employees.

Iturrino bonded out of jail Tuesday night, WESH-TV reported. In an ironic twist, Iturrino is a pre-K teacher at Spirit Elementary School in Deltona, according to the school's website. WESH said she's been suspended.

Rivera appeared before a judge Wednesday, WESH said, adding that his bail was set at $42,000.

Chitwood blasted the parents in a profanity-laced press conference Wednesday.

'In training, if you lose your taser, you automatically transition to your firearm. If you take a deputy’s taser, you can almost expect to get shot.'

Chitwood claimed the parents' son "bullied and shoved a little girl." He said that the parents were questioning the deputy as to why the girl had not been disciplined in the altercation.

The sheriff played the video clip of Rivera calling the deputy a "worthless piece of s**t."

Chitwood lambasted the parents, "To be clear, the only piece of s**t in that video is the mother and father. They're the pieces of s**t."

He continued, "They attacked my deputy; she suffered a concussion."

Chitwood declared that Iturrino "deserves to be fired" from her teaching job for her role in the alleged assault of the deputy.

"I'm not gonna have pieces of s**t like that come in and attack a deputy doing their job and not expect that they're not going to be held accountable for that," Chitwood proclaimed.

The sheriff noted, "To say I’m furious is beyond. There's no reason I got a deputy home with a concussion for something so goddamn trivial." He said the deputy will be on bed rest for four days, WESH reported.

Chitwood pointed out, "In training, if you lose your taser, you automatically transition to your firearm. If you take a deputy’s taser, you can almost expect to get shot. ... Thank God that’s not what happened in these close grounds."

What's more, Chitwood said the battery charge for the couple's son was not a criminal charge but a civil citation, according to WESH.

"You go before the judge," Chitwood said, according to WESH. "The judge looks at the evidence, and then a judge would impose sanctions, whether it's counseling, community service, whatever it is, and then the whole thing goes away."

Crazy bodycam video shows suspect trying to flee cop on a lawnmower, getting tased — and it only gets worse for him

Newly released police bodycam video shows the moment a Michigan suspect tried to flee a police officer on a riding lawnmower. However, the suspect ended up getting tased and shooting himself in the hand.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said an officer was dispatched to a property in Leoni Township.

'This was an unfortunate and certainly dangerous situation. Mr. Kerr was not well that day.'

In the bodycam video the sheriff's office released, Deputy Robert Henderson went to arrest 41-year-old James Mitchell Kerr III on a felony warrant for violating probation and two misdemeanor warrants on Sept. 19, according to WWJ-TV.

The bodycam video shows the officer approach Kerr — who is on a riding lawnmower.

The video — seen hundreds of thousands of times online — shows Kerr seemingly disregarding Henderson's multiple orders to get off the riding lawnmower.

The officer is seen running after Kerr, continuing to order him to "stop."

Once the officer wields a taser, the suspect finally stops the lawnmower.

Henderson warns: "You run, I'm gonna tase you, James."

Kerr is seen exiting the lawnmower, but he then picks up what appears to be a handgun from under the lawnmower's seat, according to WJBK-TV.

The officer tased the suspect, and he fell to the ground.

The officer screams, "Drop the gun!"

Video shows the suspect shooting himself in the hand.

Kerr reportedly was treated at a hospital for the gunshot wound and then released.

Kerr was charged Oct. 23 with assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, and resisting and obstructing police. He was released on bail.

If convicted, Kerr faces up to life in prison for the assault charge, up to two years for the felony firearm charge, and up to two years for resisting an officer.

Jackson County Sheriff Gary Schuette said, "This incident underscores how rapidly a seemingly routine encounter can escalate and the potential dangers deputies face daily. Thankfully, the deputy was unharmed, and the suspect did not sustain serious injuries."

Kerr's attorney, Philip Curtis, told the Detroit News, "This was an unfortunate and certainly dangerous situation. Mr. Kerr was not well that day, and I think it is more likely that he intended to harm himself, which is what happened. The deputy should be commended for so effectively defusing the situation before anyone was seriously injured. My client and his family are grateful for that."

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office conducted an internal investigation. The Michigan State Police conducted an independent criminal investigation, which cleared Henderson of any wrongdoing and indicated that no police policies were violated.

Bodycam video: Deputy shoots 7 abandoned dogs, sheriff's office says cop acted in 'professional and most humane manner'

Disturbing police bodycam video shows the moment that an Arizona deputy shot seven abandoned dogs. Despite many local residents being appalled by the lethal police shooting, the sheriff's office has defended the officer's actions and said he acted in "a professional and most humane manner given the circumstances."

Residents complained about abandoned dogs at a property in Adamana, Arizona — an unincorporated community about 100 miles east of Flagstaff. Neighbors said the dogs would attack their livestock.

Apache County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jarrod Toadecheenie – the responding officer – wrote in his incident report that the dogs were owned by a couple who were getting divorced and had abandoned the property.

Deputy Toadecheenie went to the abandoned property on Sept. 22, 2023.

Police bodycam footage shows seven emaciated and dehydrated dogs. The dogs don't appear to be aggressive toward the officer.

The deputy lures the starving dogs into a fenced area with food and water. The famished dogs feverishly gobble up the food.

The bodycam video originally obtained by the Mountain Daily Star shows the deputy exiting the fenced-in area and then putting on headphones.

Toadecheenie is heard saying, "Oh God. This is gonna suck."

As the dogs approach the officer with wagging tails, the deputy then proceeds to shoot the dogs one by one. Deputy Toadecheenie shot one dog two additional times because it continued to move.

Two of the abandoned dogs were able to escape and hid under a shed. They were later brought to a local animal shelter. One reportedly died of parvovirus shortly after arriving, and the other was adopted.

The bodycam footage shows the deputy dragging the lifeless bodies to his truck. He later dumped the dead dogs near railroad tracks, according to the incident report.

The grim video can be seen here.

"The deputy involved acted in a professional and most humane manner given the circumstances."

The Apache County Sheriff's Office defended the actions of Deputy Toadecheenie, and told KSAZ-TV:

The deputy involved acted in a professional and most humane manner given the circumstances. He exhausted all other alternatives available to him at the time and acted under the approval of his immediate supervisor. The incident was reviewed by ACSO Command Staff, and the Deputy was found to have acted within agency policy.

The sheriff's office explained that Apache County spans more than 11,00 square miles and does not have an animal care or control department. The Apache County Sheriff's Office said the county does not have the infrastructure or budget for an animal control department, which leaves just a "handful of deputies" to make "split-second life or death decisions and handle any situation they are confronted with in a professional manner within the law."

"Animals are dying everywhere in the county."

However, not everyone in Apache County agrees with the decision to shoot seven abandoned dogs.

Teresa Schumann – founder of the nonprofit Northern Arizona Animal Search and Rescue – told the Washington Post, "The Apache County Sheriff’s Office won’t do anything to fix the problem. Animals are dying everywhere in the county."

Schumann added, "They say they can't afford to do animal services, and I'm sorry, I don't believe that. There are plenty of people who are trying to help."

Schumann said the deputy had contacted her about taking the dogs before the deadly incident, but her facility did not have any room and she couldn't find homes for them. The deputy allegedly told her that he would "handle it."

In his report, Toadecheenie said Schumann told him that if the dogs were aggressive, they may have to be euthanized.

Schumann told KPNX, "I told him if the dogs were feral, we were going to have to try and find somebody that would be willing to work with these dogs. I said it takes a lot, but no, I never said they needed to be shot.”

However, Schumann said had she known the animals would have been shot and killed, she would have intervened.

As Blaze News reported last month, a disturbing police bodycam was released that showed a cop shoot and kill a "non-aggressive" deaf and blind 13-pound dog.

Watch: Oklahoma police officer smashes through fence, makes flying tackle to apprehend suspect in thrilling bodycam video

An Oklahoma police officer has gone viral after bodycam video was released of him doing everything in his power to apprehend a suspect – including smashing through a fence.

A 20-year-old suspect led officers on a wild police chase last month.

Police dashcam video shows an officer in hot pursuit of a silver sedan speeding down a road. At one point, the sedan nearly collides with a white pickup truck in an intersection.

Police bodycam video shows the suspect ditching his car after a crash and jumping over a fence in a residential area.

An officer is seen on bodycam footage climbing to the top of the fence to deploy his taser at the man on the run, but the suspect escapes.

A second officer with the Moore Police Department sneaks through a hole in the dilapidated fence.

A third police officer – identified as Sgt. Justin Sternberg – is seen sprinting to the crime scene before lowering his shoulder and barreling through the fence. Despite smashing through the fence, the officer doesn't lose a beat and chases after the suspect.

Police bodycam footage shows the two officers climbing over another fence.

Officer Sternberg jumps over two more fences.

The thrilling video shows Sternberg climbing to the top of a fence and making a flying tackle on the suspect. Sternberg and the suspect allegedly both got tased at the end of the confrontation.

The suspect is then arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle. Police said they found a firearm and a bag of marijuana in the stolen vehicle.

Sternberg told KOCO-TV, "It was run through it or try to climb it, and I think trying to climb it would have taken more time. So, in my head, 'Just run through it.' I had to jump another fence to another fence to take him into custody. As I did jump the fence, I ended up getting tased. So, we were both getting tased at the same time."

As far as the now-broken fence that Sternberg plowed through, the Moore Police Department said, "The family will work with us and the city to get the repairs done."

Clint Byley, with the Moore Police Department, stated: "We did make an attempt to talk with the homeowners. As of last check, I don't know if we've made physical contact with them yet, but they're more than welcome to come to the police department to talk about what happened. And then, we can get them into contact with the city if they don't have the ability to do that themselves."

Sternberg offered to help the family fix the broken fence.

"I'm sorry. If I need to come out and fix it, I will. I can help," Sternberg said.

Horrifying bodycam video shows Missouri police officer shooting, killing non-aggressive deaf and blind 13-pound dog, city defends cop

Extremely disturbing police bodycam video shows the moment that a cop shot and killed a "non-aggressive" deaf and blind 13-pound dog.

On Tuesday morning, a Sturgeon Police Department officer responded to a report of a missing dog.

Nick Hunter, 35, reported his fluffy, 13-pound white Shih Tzu mix missing. Most concerning for the owner, is that the 5-year-old dog was deaf and blind. Hunter reportedly informed the dispatcher that the dog was "not at all" aggressive.

Sturgeon Police Department Officer Myron Woodson reportedly responded to the missing dog report.

Within minutes of attempting to locate the disabled dog, Officer Woodson reportedly fired two shots into the 13-pound pup.

Officer Woodson located the small Shih Tzu dog.

Bodycam footage shows Woodson approaching the small dog, and he is armed with a catch pole.

According to bodycam footage, the dog named Teddy is seen aimlessly trotting around. The officer is seen attempting to lasso the distressed dog, but is unsuccessful. The dog continues to walk randomly around the grass yard.

The dog is seen on video playing with a vine on a tree.

Suddenly out of nowhere, the officer is seen shooting the dog only three minutes after encountering the small dog without the animal being aggressive toward the cop.

Police bodycam video shows the officer shooting the dog at the 5:35 mark and firing another shot at the 5:41 mark.

Bodycam footage shows the officer walking back to his cruiser to retrieve a bin, walking back to the scene of the death, and putting the lifeless body of the dog into the receptacle. He places the bin with the deceased animal in the back of his cruiser.

The owner of the slain dog – a very distraught Nick Hunter – is seen confronting the police officer before he can drive away. According to the video, he is recording the officer as he questions him.

Hunter tells the officer that his dog was "completely blind and completely deaf."

Officer Woodson attempts to defend his fatal actions by saying that he saw a "dog walking around blindly," and he only can respond to situations with "information at hand" and claimed he had spent 10 minutes dealing with a dog that was "walking around blindly."

Woodson claims that he doesn't "enjoy shooting dogs."

"I'm not happy that I had to shoot a dog," Woodson says on video.

Hunter informs the officer that there are numerous non-lethal alternatives to making a dog respond.

Woodson states, "I'm sorry I had to do it. That's all I'm saying."

Hunter declares, "I can handle a dog dying if the dog was put down for a proper reason."

He adds, "He was not aggressive to a person, and not a harm to anyone."

Hunter accuses the officer of not attempting "to do anything properly besides lethal force."

The dog owner claims the dog escaped from its kennel after its collar slipped off.

The city of Sturgeon defended Officer Woodson's fatal actions with a statement that reads:

The city has reviewed the dispatch report and body camera footage regarding the recent dog at large incident. The city believes that the officer acted within his authority based on the information available to him at the time to protect against possible injury to citizens from what appeared to be an injured, sick, and abandoned dog. The dispatch indicated that the person calling in did not want to be contacted, and had reported that the dog, though not in her view dangerous, was injured, maybe blind, and had mud and dried blood in its fur. The dog’s strange behavior appeared consistent with the dispatch report of an injured or possibly sick dog. In order to better equip officers for future animal at large call outs, the city will be sending all officers to Boone County Animal Control for training and education, in hopes that this unfortunate situation does not occur again.

Hunter told KMIZ, "I filed a complaint formally with the city of Sturgeon and requested to speak with the mayor. The mayor did not contact me, instead posted a statement contradicting everything that me and the officer spoke of, saying the officer's fear was Teddy having rabies."

Hunter proclaimed that his dog was updated on its rabies vaccines.

"The officer was going strictly based off the fact that the dog walks with his head sideways due to him being deaf and blind," Hunter alleged.

He added, "I'm hoping these officers and future officers can find a way to follow the the fourth continuum, our levels, correctly versus going straight to lethal force. That should always be a last resort in dealing with any life."

Hunter told the news outlet that he plans on suing the city of Sturgeon over the shooting death of his dog.

'I know the law better than you': New York district attorney caught on bodycam video cursing out cop, defying traffic stop

An upstate New York district attorney was caught on police bodycam video openly defying a traffic stop, returning to her home, and cursing out a cop.

Police bodycam footage shows the moment that officers engaged Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley after she flouted a traffic stop. Officer Cameron Crisafulli allegedly clocked Doorley going 55 mph in a 35 mph zone around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Officer Crisafulli allegedly activated the emergency lights on his police cruiser to pull over Doorley. She purportedly defied the attempted traffic stop and continued to drive to her home.

After defying the traffic stop, Doorley allegedly called Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier.

The DA allegedly told the police chief, "Can you please tell him to leave me alone?"

According to the New York Post, "She then storms inside the house against the officer’s orders."

She completely disregards the officer's commands on several occasions.

The officer allegedly explained that he was attempting to do a traffic stop and she replied: "I know the law better than you."

The officer responds, "What is it you’re so against me? I’m doing my job. You say you’re a DA?"

Doorsley allegedly replies, "I'm the DA … I’m the DA of Monroe County." She then purportedly calls him an "a**hole."

She reiterates, "I’m the DA of Monroe County."

"If you give me a traffic ticket, that's fine – I'm the one who prosecutes it," she declares.

Doorsley defiantly states, "Do you think I really care if I was going 20 miles over the speed limit?"

Doorsley allegedly advises the officer that he should have "ran her plates" to know how important she is.

She gets combative when the officer requests her driver's license.

She gets frustrated and says, "Just write me a f***ing traffic ticket."

Crisafulli allegedly requested a supervisor to the scene.

Bodycam footage features two officers confronting the district attorney inside the garage of her home while Crisafulli waited outside.

"I didn't want to pull over. I just figured that I'd pull into my driveway. So that's the end of story," Doorley says on bodycam video.

Doorley states that she didn't "feel" like stopping on that particular road, to which the officer fires back: "That's not your choice."

The officer notes that the DA "caused this."

The supervisor informed the district attorney that she had committed an arrestable offense.

"You should know better," he says, adding, "You made it a bigger deal than it needed to be."

She argues that she felt it "would be easier" if she stopped in her driveway.

The supervisor is heard on police bodycam video telling Crisafulli: "It's your traffic stop. I'm not going to tell you how to handle it. Do what you think is necessary."

Crisafulli told the supervisor that he was "not trying to arrest the DA of the county," but he wants to "do his job" and charge her with the speeding violation.

Doorley said in a statement released on Thursday: "By 1:00 PM (Tuesday), I pled guilty and sent the ticket to the Webster Town Court because I believe in accepting responsibility for my actions and had no intention of using my position to receive a benefit. Nobody, including your District Attorney, is above the rule of law, even traffic laws."

The Rochester City Council wants a state inquiry into Doorley’s conduct.

The council members wrote to Attorney General Letitia James: "Recent body camera footage, shared by the Webster Police Department, has raised significant concerns regarding Ms. Doorley’s behavior during a traffic stop in Webster, New York. This incident has led us to question her fitness to serve as District Attorney, and we believe an investigation by your office is warranted."

The lawmakers declared that public officials should be "held to the highest standards of ethics, accountability and respect for the law," and that Doorley’s behavior "appears to violate these standards."

The council members added, "Such behavior undermines the credibility and integrity of our justice system and erodes public trust."

Alarming police bodycam video shows 'street takeover' where officer 'narrowly escaped line-of-duty death scenario'

Virginia police recently released shocking bodycam video of a chaotic "street takeover" that left one officer injured.

Around 3 a.m. on March 31, hundreds gathered to watch drivers perform donuts and drive recklessly at a car meetup in Springfield, Virginia.

However, the car display resulted in "utter chaos and disorder."

The Fairfax County Police said, "A large group of individuals surrounded the officer’s cruiser. At least one attempted to remove the license plate from the vehicle as the others acted disorderly."

Unruly people reportedly jumped on police cruisers and slammed on the windows of the vehicles.

Law enforcement stated that one man was outside a police vehicle armed with a rifle.

A driver allegedly struck a police officer with their vehicle and then fled the scene.

The officer reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis stated, "I believe we narrowly escaped a line-of-duty death scenario of our own. Because one of our officers was surrounded by a bunch of masked, tough-guy-wannabe-thugs who surrounded her car, and acted in a criminal manner, in a way that I’ll tell you is never going to happen again in Fairfax County."

Davis commended the officer for exhibiting "a ton of grace under pressure in that very volatile scenario."

"So, what does that mean for residential and business communities? It means you didn't have any cops protecting your neighborhoods, your communities, your businesses because these criminals diverted all of our attention to handle an attack on one of our police officers," Davis declared.

Davis said he believes that the mob "fully intended to drag" a female police officer out of her car and harm her.

He added, "Thankfully, they didn’t get into the car, and we’re very grateful for that."

According to law enforcement, four individuals have been criminally charged in the scary incident.

The suspected hit-and-run driver was identified as 18-year-old Ronal Urrea-Hernandez, according to WTTG. Police have allegedly obtained a warrant for his arrest for felony hit-and-run, speed to elude, and not possessing an operator's license.

Carlos A. Martinez Jr., 18, was arrested and charged with reckless driving after he drove down the wrong side of the road and crashed into a cruiser, according to the outlet.

Authorities are also investigating 20-year-old Dylan Heckard, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He is accused of assault on law enforcement and abduction for jumping on the police cruiser and preventing the officer from leaving.

A 17-year-old has been charged, but his identity is being withheld because he is a minor.

Davis declared, "We’re not going to be caught in a situation again where it’s one of us versus dozens of them who want to do us harm."

'You're gonna get shot!' Intense bodycam video shows deputy shoot, kill Florida man while hanging onto runaway car

Distressing police bodycam video shows the moment that a sheriff's deputy shot and killed a Florida man with a violent criminal history. The officer was hanging onto the runaway car as the suspect attempted to make a desperate getaway.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Howell approached the vehicle of 40-year-old Paul Smith that was parked at a 7-Eleven in Hudson — roughly 40 miles north of Tampa, Florida. Smith, who has a violent criminal history, was reportedly linked to a battery-by-strangulation case.

Police bodycam footage shows Smith seemingly befuddled by being asked to step out of his vehicle by the sheriff's deputy.

Smith asked the officer, "What's going on? What's the problem?"

Smith then feverishly used his car keys to start his vehicle and make a quick getaway.

Deputy Howell commanded Smith to get out of the car numerous times, but the suspect continued to try to flee the scene. Howell attempted to wrestle Smith out of the vehicle, but wasn't able to.

Smith was able to start the vehicle and began to drive away with Howell dangling from the open door of the vehicle.

The officer used a stun gun to try to subdue the suspect several times in the back and the neck, but it did nothing to stop Smith.

In the bodycam video, the tires of the car can be heard screeching and the engine is loudly revving as Smith tries to make a frantic escape.

Howell warned the suspect, "You're going to get f***ing shot!"

Howell warned Smith five times that he will get shot if he did not stop the vehicle.

The suspect did not comply, and the officer shot Smith in the back.

Smith was seen in the video losing consciousness and then slumping over to the passenger seat.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said Howell was able to take control of the vehicle. He allegedly performed first aid on the suspect, but Smith succumbed to his gunshot injury and died.

The Tampa Bay Times reported, "Pasco records show several criminal convictions against a Paul Smith in that county, including battery and drug charges. Smith was convicted in 2019 of fleeing law enforcement by car, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and hit-and-run, and served three years in state prison."

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting to determine whether it was justified or not.

Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Col. Jeff Harrington defended Howell’s actions as necessary.

Watch: Wild scene unfolds on busy Florida beach as suspected teen drug dealer pulls out gun, leads cops on chase into the ocean

Shocking police bodycam video shows officers chasing a suspected teen drug dealer brandishing a gun on a busy Florida beach during spring break.

Police bodycam footage shows a wild scene unfolding in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

The beach was packed with spring breakers when suddenly a fight broke out around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Deputies were directly in the area of the melee and bodycam footage caught the moment that the suspect pulled out a gun on the crowded beach.

An officer countered by wielding his firearm and ordering the gunman, "Hey motherf***er, drop the f***ing gun!"

The suspect disregarded the officer's demands and he sprinted away from the police. With multiple officers pursuing him, the suspect ran into the ocean. Half of a dozen cops stayed on the shore pointing their guns at the suspect, who stood in knee-deep ocean water.

The standoff lasted several minutes until the suspect surrendered to police.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said in a statement, "Deputies recovered both the gun and the bag from the water. The bag held 20 small plastic baggies of marijuana."

The suspect was identified as 16-year-old Felixander Solis-Guzman.

Police said Solis-Guzman was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a person under 18, improper exhibition of a firearm, commission of a 2nd-degree felony with a weapon, resisting a law enforcement officer, two counts of tampering with evidence, and sale of marijuana.

Solis-Guzman – who is from Lakeland – was also arrested on seven active no-bond warrants out of Orange County, including robbery with a firearm and violation of his probation.

The Office of the State Attorney announced on Friday that Solis-Guzman would be prosecuted as an adult.

State Attorney R.J. Larizza wrote on the X social media platform, "This 16-year-old brought drugs and a gun to Volusia County during Spring Break. He will now face adult charges and serious consequences for his reckless actions. We welcome Spring Breakers, so long as they behave themselves.”

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said on Facebook, "We aren’t playing around in Volusia County. Don’t let your child be the next to come here as a juvenile and end up an adult facing serious criminal charges and years in prison."
